Brand New TouchSmart 300 internal microphone not working.

I have been trying to get my internal microphone to work with Skype.
I have done all the tests suggested on this forum and everything says that my microphone is working!
When I record anything  I get a muffled noise not anything like speech.
If I record on Windows 7 Sound Recorder the green bar stays at 25% but no sound.
Is there a simple fix as really do not want to take it back to the shop to have it sent away under warranty.

Re-install Skype, and the drivers.
Reinstall drivers from Recovery Manager or download them from your update site at http://www.support.hp.com .
You can find your PN by pressing CTRL  +   ALT + S.
Update skype, or reinstall it, as I'm sure the latest version is compatible with Windows 7.
After you perform these tests, please post with the results.
I have more HP devices than you'd expect.
1 HP TouchPad 32 GB with Android
2 HP Touchsmarts (310-1000z and IQ527)
2 HP Printers (J6480 and J5750)
1 Laptop (HP DV6253CL)
Have at least some experience in each of those devices, and i'll do my best to help you.
Kudos if I helped!

Internal Microphone not working with Quicktime and some other apps, yet it does for Skype.
Microphone works fine with Quictime on another mac, so I do know how to use it. The one where it is not working (A) had an external microphone and camera attached earlier, and indeed it does work with that external microphone, but not with the internal microphone selected; and (B) had RealPlayer installed previously.
    Any suggestions, please?

    Hi,
    Download Audio driver from here.
Intructions how to install it in Vista/Win7.
    Extract this driver with Winrar.
Open Device manager and expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
Right click on Either the High Definition Audio Device if you have the generic Microsoft drivers, or the Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 if you have older Conexant drivers and choose "Update Driver Software..."
Click Browse my computer for driver software, then click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Click "Have Disk..." then Browse to the folder where the drivers were extracted  .......\V64 for 64-bit Vista/Win7. Click OK.
Select one of the "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221" models in the list, there will be multiple identical entries.
    Click Next, and you're done.
I'm not sure which one from the list will work for You.
This drivers weren't test. So if You will try them and it will work for You let us now about.

  • Internal Microphone not working for L505D-S5983 (PLEASE HELP!)

    Hi,
I can't seem to get my internal microphone to work. I have enabled it under Sound->Manage Audio Devices
->Recording tab. However the green vertical bar does not detect any voice. After setting the Microphone boost to +40dB, it detected some noise (since it has some green light) but I realized it wasn't detecting my voice. Since this did not work, I re-set the Microphone boost to only +10dB.  I only have one internal microphone and no external microphone.
I have seen many postings on internal microphones not working on Toshiba laptops but couldn't find a solution to mine. Can someone please help? I think it's about time that Toshiba fix this issue after the countless complaints.
    FM.

No mentions of reinstalling the sound driver. That sometimes turns on the microphone.

  • NB205-N210 Internal Microphone NOT Working

My internal microphone quit working on my NB-205-N210 after using an external headset (w/microphone) in the left side analog audio jacks, now I can't get the internal microphone to work again...  All I get is "white noise" with the volume control set at maximum...  Note: an external analog microphone + USB microphone still work...
    What I've tried so-far:
I have tried both Realtek and Windows XP sound and audio device tools to make sure the microphone was not muted, the volume was turned up and selected + boost on (all where set correctly)...
Un-installing then re-installing the current Realtek HD sound drivers (several times), to no avail...
Dis-assembled the netbook to check the internal microphone, plus substituted an electret microphone element to check - no luck...
Checked microphone plug, plus re-soldered the microphone connector on motherboard - still no luck...
I could get by using an external microphone, but that's not convenient when traveling, or the point...
    Hope someone can help...

  • ThinkPad internal microphone not working - Windows 8.1

    Hello everyone,
I'm back on this forum because I had another issue... See my first one : http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T440p-camera-not-working-windows-8-1/m-p/18...
There was a problem with the cable between the camera/microphone combo card and the daughter card. Now the camera is working properly. A technician replaced the cable.
But I realized that my internal microphone is not working. I don't remember if it worked once...
My microphone is not muted, and I reinstalled the real-teck drivers. When I try to use the "listen" option in the microphone properties, I here a sort of wideband noise (let's call it white noise).
Do you have any suggestions that might help?
    Thank you very much

  • NB 200 internal microphone not working

I have been using my NB 200 to communicate via skype for some time and now the internal microphone has stopped working. I have managed to get it working for a brief period last night but then it stopped again when my system rebooted. It therefore appearst o be a software issue. I have tried installing up to date driver software (Realtech) and system restore but the computer says nothign has changed so it will not restore. Please advise. I am using XP as my oeprating system

I've got this problem - internal microphone was working fine up to few weeks ago when I last used it for Skype. All that's happened since then is a couple of Windows updates but now I can't get it to work.
I've tried all the things suggested in this thread:
    - Updated Chicony software for webcam
    - Updated Realtek software
An external microphone works OK for Skype and the voice recorder utility but doesn't work with audio/video recording using the webcam software.
A Bluetooth headset (which I know is working properly) will connect with the netbook to listen to music and works fine to listen to Skype but won't work to speak and won't work at all record or playback with the webcam software.
I've fiddled with all the control panel settings including voice settings and run all the tests.
So does this sound like a hardware problem or a software problem? If the microphone itself was damaged, why would that affect the use of an external microphone?
Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm reluctant to follow up the last suggestion in this thread about reinstalling the OS as I'm not sure why that might sort out the problem?
    Thanks

Try the steps listed in this document from HP. It has the most common solutions and steps to isolate the issue.
It is possibly a hardware issue since an external microphone works without any issue, but let me know what happens with each step of the document as that will help determine if it is a hardware issue or not.
Also, let me know the results of the steps in the Using Windows Sound Recorder to test the microphone section. If this recorded file also exhibits the same behavior, then it is definitely not any third party software causing the issue.

  • DV9930US Internal Microphone not working (Vista & Windows7)

    Hi,
I've had my DV9930US for awhile, but up until recently, I haven't used either the webcam or the internal microphone.
I'm preparing for a trip, so I thought I'd see if I could get something like Skype setup, but I'm finding that the internal microphone doesn't seem to work (doesn't hear anything).   Audio output seems to work fine, and, also, if I plug an external microphone into the jack in the front, under the keyboard, that seems to work...  it's just the internal microphones (there are two, I think, at the top of the display, surrounding the webcam) that are not working ...
Everything seems to be ok in Device Manager.  Under "Sound", I have "Realtek High Definition Audio".  The driver is dated 1/15/08, V6.0.1.5548.
I've tried testing with Sound Recorder, and I've also tested using the "Configure Microphone", but it never shows any bars, and the file that Sound Recorder recorded is basically silent.
I still have the original Vista Home Premium on this machine and also Windows 7 Ultimate (I dual  boot), and even the original Vista seems to have the same problem.
I've seen some posts here with problems with G60s, but no resolutions, so I was wondering if anyone might know what
    the problem might be?
    Thanks!
    Jim

    Hi,
For the record, I finally found the problem.
In the DV9930US, there's a small (1"x1") PCB called the "power button board".  This has the power button, and 3 pinned connectors, plus a flat cable connector.
The microphones in the display bezel connect to one of the 3 pinned connectors, and the flat cable goes, I think to the actual audio board.
I had replaced the microphones, which didn't fix the problem, so I bought a replacement power button board, which luckily, came with a new flat cable.
It turned out that the original flat cable going from the power button board to the audio board was bad.
I replaced the flat cable, and then the internal mics worked.

  • Internal microphone not working on iMac

My Inernal microphone is not working and I have tried the usual remedies:
1.)  Reset the NVRAM/PRAM by doing the Command+Option+P+R
2.)  Checked the Sound Preferences to make sure the Internal microphone is selectyed, Mute is unchecked, etc...
3.)  I tried to do the Apple Hardware test (AHT) but that did not work.  It just booted up normally when I held down the "D" key.
4.)  I don't have Skype or Garage Band operational and I am not using any external microphone.
Any suggestions?  I saw a post about deleting the "plist" but I left the post and couldn't find my way back to it again.
If I jack up the Input volume all the way I do see bars registering (on and off) on the Input level scale but no amount of shouting at the microphone generates any new bars.  I just had the hard drive replaced with a new Hitachi hard drive but the iMac seems to be working fine other than the internal microphone.  This al started when I tried to do facetime but the other party could not hear me.
I am using Mountain Lion 10.8.2
    Suggestions are welcome and thanks.

It looks like your mic has really ended its life, however that happened. The bars you describe indicate that the mic input is open (and subject to interference, but no good signal from the mic itself).
You will easily agree that any - costly - repair won't be worth it. See if you can get an inexpensive external USB mic, or one of these external USB sound "cards" that offer an analog mic input, plus a mic.

  • Ipad internal microphone not working

I paired my new motorola h270 bluetooth with my ipad this evening and it connected properly.
When i tried disconnecting it and making the ipad forget the device, it says it was successfully disconnected.
When i tried answering facetime and skype like normal, my internal microphone is not working anymore.  It only works when i speak through the bluetooth.
I even called the skype test  snd it's not recognizing my voice.  I'm not sure how to make my microphone work again.
I'm on the ios 5 right now.

    Pichkeopiseth-
The iPad 2 has been out less than a year, so it is still under warranty.  Apple should repair or replace.  Whether they replace with a new or reconditioned unit, I can't say.
For an out-of-warranty unit, an Apple Authorized Repair Center may be your best bet, since it is probably an easy repair.
I suggest you verify that the problem exists in at least two Apps.  One I use is the free Skype App.  Skype has a test server you can call, that will record and play back your voice.
If the microphone works sometimes but not others, try resetting (rebooting) the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

  • Internal microphone not working on powerbook G4 12''

I just successfully replaced a bad hard drive on my powerbook G4 12'', now the internal mic is not working. It is connected, but one of the wires may be loose/broken? Any other tests i can run to verify mic? where can i but a new internal mic?
    Thank you.
    Cholito

    Hello,
How did you test the mic? Check to make sure that "Internal Microphone" is selected in the sound input tab of the sound preference pane. If it is selected, make sure the volume control is moved to the right side of the slider. Speak normally and see if the input level moves. If not, it may be time to replace some parts. Believe it or not, the microphone cable is attached to the built-in display. I hope this helps and you solve your issue soon.

  • Internal Microphone Not Working On Presario CQ40-303AU

Hello guys, I am new to this forum so please excuse me if I duplicate certain topics.
Anyways, I have a Compaq Presario CQ40-303AU. Internal microphone doesn't seem to be working. I have installed the updated IDT High Definition Audio Codec driver. Internal Microphone Array is set as default for Recording Device. Audio not muted. Mic volume on 100 too. But there's still no sound whenever I try to do a recording. What could possibly be wrong? Please, I need help desperately! Thank you.

I'm sorry. I would like to add. The laptop has Windows 7 Ultimate in it. Since I got this laptop second hand, I'm not sure if the former owner upgraded this from an older OS.
    Thanks again.
