Brand new white Macbook : display color issues

just got it today from clubmac.
it's a white macbook 2ghz / 2 gig ram / 160 hd
I used time machine to get all my files over -great!
except, the color seems washed out even after calibrating the screen.
i NEED it to do my work... what can I do about it?
can I go to an Apple store to get it fixed? or can they exchange it?
I can't afford the time to send it back to club mac...
or is there a software fix?
thanks

after talking to apple experts, they concluded that the graphics card is screwed up.
then they called club mac and made them take it back! so i got the ups form and erased the hd with my info and packed it up
thank you to erik g from apple pr

  • Brand new white Macbook - lots and lots of scratches all over!

I have recently purchased a white Macbook, and after less than a week of usage, I have noticed countless smudge-looking scratches all over the outer case. Both the top and bottom are covered with them; they only show up when reflecting light, and aren't deep (i.e., you can't feel them or anything).
I did not notice this before, but I'm not sure if they've been there since I got it. I haven't been putting it in a case or anything yet. This is upsetting to me since everything else about the computer is great, it's been a good first mac experience otherwise.
Is there a way to bring it into a store and swap out the case without much of a wait or delay? Or am I better of trying some kind of cleaning product?
I'm just disappointed that I have to do something like this within 4 to 5 days of owning the thing. I am very careful with it and I don't understand how I could have done anything to leave so many marks this quickly.

I completely understand your frustration with the scatches - it's a new computer and you spent a lot of money for it.
But - remember - its just a tool, and as long as it works great, you're a winner. Besides, after few months you'll wont treat it so carefully anymore.

  • Weird staining on new white macbook

So i just received a brand new White Macbook on Tuesday. This morning i noticed that the exact area where I use two fingers to push the mouse button (slightly to the left because i'm used to left-clicking) has a strange dark stain. I've tried using a mild soap with a moist towel and this has no effect. Just wondering if there is anything that can be done because i would hate for my brand new laptop to already have a visible blemish.
please copy, paste the following link for picture, just click through the album(it does not show up easily on my camera for some reason)

    Thank you very much.
    Any help would be apprec

it looks like you just got something on your fingers like ink and then used the trackpad. my trackpad has similar stains because i use my isight camera to do my makeup in the morning... so my fingers coverd in makeup transfer it to the trackpad, keys, etc. eye makeup remover does the trick, i definately don't recommend using nail polish remover on your computer x)

  • New White MacBook Battery Problem

    Hi there.
I recently purchased a brand new white MacBook 2 weeks back and has been perfectly fine up until tonight, with no problems at all, I could take out the power cord and use it around the house fine. However tonight, completely randomly it just shuts down about 2 seconds after i take out the power cord.
Also in the power settings it no says 1% battery remaining and estimated time to fully charge is 10 hours, now this hasn't changed at all this evening.
Can you please tell me what is wrong and how to fix it?
    Many thanks
    Toby

Again suddenly my battery has come back but has gone back to what it was, claiming to have no charge but still doing nothing.
However i did not check these specs before and it does now say charging so possibly could have fixed?

It's a new machine - and the Thunderbolt Display is meant to work with it. You need to just make an appointment at your local Apple Store and have them fix whatever is wrong.
If you like, you could always try a SMC reset and a PRAM/NVRAM reset to see if either of those will get your keyboard back in working order...

  • New white macbook, no external display option !

I recently got my white macbook replaced with a new one. My old white macbook was great, once i pluged in my mini-vga adaptor to my macbook i hooked it up to my tv, when into display settings and set it appropriatly. Now i got a new white macbook. I plug my mini vga adaptor in, put it to the AV channel on my tv and nothing. And when i go into my macbooks display settings theres no arrangment feature! theres nothing for external displays at all ! Whats happened?!

I downloaded that - when i click on This Mac it simply says "This Mac Model Can Not Be Found, Please Check You Have The Most Up To Date Version Of Mactracker". Then when i search for updates it says i have the most up to date version. Bahumbug! Useless!
I've not been having a good relationship with technology lately at all! Obviously my adaptor is now useless, and unless I have a plasma/LCD TV or a new computer monitor, I'll have to deal with not having any ability to hook this up to my television. That was a feature I used on a regular basis.
Im getting more and more frustrated - I had the opportunity to buy the new Aluminum macbook but it didn't even have a firewire connection which i rely on for my home studio, so i settled for this lesser spec'd white macbook which now also can't do the TV-out function i used regularly. Brilliant.

  • New white MacBook: new display or not?

Has the display of the new white MacBook approved since the former white MacBook? The sales representatives in newly opened Apple Store in Frankfurt wouldn't know...
Is the display technology technically the same as in the aluminium MacBook .. with just a piece of glass attached to it?

  • Macbook Aluminum vs. New White Macbook?

I just bought a brand new Aluminum Macbook, which is no longer in stores. I spent $1300. I believe I got ripped off. Do you suggest I keep this Macbook or return it and buy the new white Macbook? I do like the aluminum design more then the white though. lol. Suggestions or Recommendations are appreciated =]
    Here are the specs:
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    2GB DDR3 memory
    250GB hard drive1
    8x double-layer SuperDrive

You can get a NEW Macbook PRO for $1149. It has a FireWire port too.
Do you suggest I keep this Macbook or return it and buy the new white Macbook?
No. Return it and buy the new Macbook Pro.
The white Macbook has no FireWire port.

  • New white macbook fails to connect to TV

    hi there
ok so i have just bought the latest white macbook (the one with the latest graphics card and processor) and i have just tried to connect it to y TV and it comes up with no signal
now the thing is, that i previously had a black macbook, and would connext my mini dvi cable to it and connect it to my TV. i never had any problems with it what so ever. yet i try and plug it into my new white macbook and nothing comes up. thye have the same ports and everything and basically the same machine (other than it obviously being slightly faster) so i am bemused why it wont connect
i just replaced the ram with 4gb. could it be this?
    any help would be great
    cheers
    matt

    hi
ok so i have spoken to apple and figure i will let everyone know what they said as i feel this could be an issue for a few people who have just bought the new white macbook
they confirmed that the mini dvi-s video adapter no longer works, and that there is possibly 2 solutions
firstly, to use a mini dvi-dvi adapter, and then to connect the tv to this via a dvi to hdmi cable. HOWEVER they said that they were not 100% sure that this would work and suggested i go to a apple store first to have them test it out
secondly, they said to use a mini dvi-vga adtpter and connect this to the tv via a vga to s video cable. they said this should definately work
i am thinking the vga solution will be best for me because i will also be able to use it to connect to a projector screen. however i have heard that picture qulity can be an issue when connecting via a vga cable. does anyone know anything more about this?
i would like to go to the apple store to see some demos but live over an hour away. has anyone had this issue resolved or live close to an apple store to get some answers
any info would be great, and hopefully this helps a few people too
    cheers

  • Is the Aluminum MacBook worth the extra $$$ over the new White MacBook

    Hello,
This is going to be my first Mac purchase and am leaning towards the White MacBook over the Aluminum model but I've read a few postings on issues with the White MacBook display...
    Thanks

Having a polycarbonate body, the white may look more fragile than the one piece aluminum but fragile is not a word I'd use to describe it. In the past year I've seen a MacBook that's fallen from a moving motorcycle - the case scuffed up but not broken and diagnostics showed the computer unharmed. Another owner brought in her MacBook that had been run over by a car - the top case cracked but the LCD unbroken and the computer passed diagnostics. I watched a student drop his MacBook as he carried it under his arm, it came to rest opened on the floor and I was certain the top had come loose but no. It was fine. And my own MacBook fell from the desk to a wooden floor and survived unscathed. Obviously others can recount examples where their MacBook was damaged by a fall but these examples indicate that the MacBook might be breakable but it isn't fragile. Not like the Dell notebook I saw fall from a desk this spring and shatter.

  • Chip in brand new White iPhone

This morning I noticed a chip in my brand new white iPhone.  I haven't dropped it or anything, it's on the edge of the phone right below the button.  Should I take it in?? I shouldn't have a chip if I haven't done anything to it!

Take it in.  You've nothing to lose.

  • Does the new white macbook have enough juice for Logic Studio?

    Hi
I am planning to buy the new white macbook and Logic Studio. The macbook has 2Ghz processor and 2GB ram. Will that be enough to run Logic effectively or do I need more power? I could afford to upgrade to 4GB ram but can't afford a Mac book pro or the 2.4Ghz processor macbook. I will be using an Edirol UA-20 audio interface.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That should be more than enough, although it of course also depends on what you are going to do with Logic. If you are going to use big sampled instruments, it is a good idea to go for 4 GB RAM.
The processors are powerful enough, about 2.5 times Logics' minimum requirement.

  • Brand new i5 Macbook Pro making "clunking" sounds with any sort of movement

I bought a brand new 15" Macbook Pro with a core i5 processor a few months ago. While it is the first Mac I have owned after a lifetime of owning and building PC's, I love it to death.
Anyways, anytime there is any sort of movement, say, if I'm moving from my desk to the couch and I pick the laptop up, it makes a clunking noise which to me sounds exactly like a failing hard drive. The difference is that it only clunks once or twice during the movement, and then stops once I stop moving the laptop. This happens even if I move the laptop very carefully.
My girlfriend has had her 13" macbook for years, and it does not do this.
It doesn't seem to affect my performance (yet), but i'm wondering, is this normal? Is this maybe the warning sign of a hard drive that could be failing prematurely?

it is the sudden motion sensor and what you hear is correct it comes from your drive . when the accelorometer detects certain G's it shuts the drive which makes the drive head park suddenly and the " clunk " you hear is the drive head parking . while it's perfectly ok ( you can not hurt your drive by parking it ) it might get boring after a while if you move it around too much .. you can go ahead and disable your sudden motion sensor at the cost of risking damage when your machine absorbs some proper shock . your choice .. if you google disable sms in google you will get the code to do it if you ever wish to do so
mine is disabled for good but then I am using an SSD

  • Hard case for new white Macbook?

Are there any hardshell cases the new white Macbooks yet? I see ones that say they're for the white 13" macbook, but how do I know if they're for the old design or new one?

To transfer your current hard drive I like the free application SuperDuper. It makes a bootable copy of everything on your hard drive http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html  You'll need a cheap SATA external hard drive case. Put the new drive in the case then format and partition the new drive and clone your old drive to the new one. Check that it's set up right by booting up from the external drive. Then replace your old hard drive with the new one and put your old one in the external case.

If you don’t have the tools to open up the MacBook OWC has a set for $5

  • Moving HD from old white Macbook to new white Macbook

    Hi all
I've hunted around Google but haven't found a conclusive answer to my problem.
I have a previous generation white Macbook. I put in a new hard disk (320g) sometime ago, and all works like a charm.
My wife finally wants to move from a pc to a mac. She is happy to have my current macbook, and for me to get a new white macbook. All good stuff.
So what I want to do is get a new white Macbook with the standard 160g HD because that is more than enough for her needs. All I'd need to do then is swap the HDs around.
BUT as I understand it, my HD's version of Leopard won't have all the drivers for the graphics card in the new white macbooks.
Can anyone help with a simple step by step guide to how I can put my HD into a new white macbook and get it working seamlessly? Is it even possible?
I've read something about swapping HDs and doing an 'archive and install', but I'm not totally clear on what I would be left with at the end of it.
I hope I've been clear. Happy to explain further if not, and would GREATLY appreciate any help.
    Ev2

All the options I can think of, while they could be accomplished with two drives, would be a great deal safer with a third drive used as an intermediate. This can be any external Firewire drive (desktop size is fine), with at least as much space as you have files on your current HD.
First, clone your current system to this third HD using Carbon Copy Cloner. Boot from it and make sure it's complete.
Then, swap the two Macbook drives. The new Macbook will now have the 320GB drive. Boot the new Macbook from its installation disk, run Disk Utility to wipe the drive, and install its system from scratch. When you first boot from this system, it'll ask you if you want to transfer information from a previous Mac. Attach the external HD through Firewire, and transfer your old files back.
Now, you'll need to wipe and reinstall the old Macbook's system on the 160GB drive.
