Brand new , won't turn on

Yes, did the 5 R's....though it is probably me. I plugged brand new ipod video into macbooK pro....computer doesn;t recognize it on desktop nor when i launch itunes...
i've reset. restarted etc....what i get is a black screen with a feint apple logo in the middle...maybe the battery isn;t charged...initially i got a battery charge but now not even that..just apple logo...
imagine, how excited to get this ipod today and the thing won't start and yes, i already tried updater as well.
Help please! THANKS

nothing yet....i have four macs...so plugging into different usb ports isn't it..i tried..
again, it's brand new...once upon a time, I saw a battery charge icon..and then i unplugged...and now after numerous atempts, all i see is feint apple logo ...
reset doesnt work...restart doesn't work...hmmmm...
i find it hard to believe that i got an unworkable unit right our of the box..
maybe my two year old did something when i went to the bathroom

  • TS1367 my brand new macbookpro  wont turn on!

my brand new macbookpro (bought it on Monday this week), wont turn on. i have tried changing the power outlets and it still wont turn on. the light is green in the cable when its plugged in. Any advice? i'm very disappointed to face this problem so soon.

    Hello there liron78,
If I understand correctly, you are unable to turn on your MacBook Pro even with a different power outlet. I would use these other troubleshooting steps from the following article, named:
Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on
If your computer won't turn on, try each of these steps:
Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.

If you are still unable to start up your computer after trying each of these steps, visit an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) for further diagnosis. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail Store, make a reservation at the Genius Bar using http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ (available in some countries only).Note: Diagnostic fees may apply for issues not covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).
If the issue persists, I would use step 5 to get ahold of AppleCare either for additional assistance or to help setup service for it.

  • Why isn't my brand new iPod touch turning on?

I just got a brand new 4th generation 32 gb iPod touch and when I press the power button to turn it on, nothing happens. I plugged it into my computer to charge it because I thought the battery was dead but when I try charging it, nothing happens either. There's no apple logo or anything. Do I have to leave it charged for a specific amount of time for it to start working, or do I need to return it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Brand new T400 - wont turn on?!

It loads up, goes through the windows screen, briefly goes to the 'cntrl/alt/delete' to log on screen, then goes to a blank blue screen and does nothing else... help!  need to access reports on there that I generated on a business trip, that I do not have a back up of.
    Any advise appreciated.
    Thanks!

did you install or change any settings before this BSOD problem occured? Go into bios and change the sata mode from ACHI to Compatibility. Also try to take out the ram module and reseat them.

  • Brand new laptop not turning on.

Just bought it. Took it out of the box and plastic all of 5 minutes ago, plugged it in and it doesn't turn on.
    No charge light, nothing.
    Very annoyed.

First off, verify that the AC outlet you plugged it into is working by plugging somethine else into it that is known to work.
Unplug it, take the battery out, then hold the power button down for 30 seconds.  Now replace the battery, plug it back in, and see if it powers up.  If it doesn't let it sit on the charger for about 30 minutes or so and try again. If that doesn't work, repeat the process but this time only try it on battery power.
If it still doesn't power up I suggest you return it to place of purchase and exchange if for one that works.

  • HELP! When I unplug my charger by mistake and want to plug it back, my mac air (brand new) won't charge again!

    Hello all,
I just bought a new macbook air 11". I started to plug it in when the battery was going down. I usually have the laptop on my lap and sometimes by mistake the charger unplugs itself. When I put it back, my mac does not charge again (no light on the charger and no sign of charge on the menu bar). I thought it could be a sort of security but it is very unconveniant.
    Please help me!
    Thanks a lot

Nothing wrong, no panic. Some general remarks:
    a. the battery will not be charged when over 95% full; a full battery is not charged
    b. it is good for the battery to have it go down to about 50% before recharging, say once a week at least.
    c. never let the battery go down completely, so that it shuts off on its own: that is very bad for a modern smart Li battery.
    d. sometimes the old "battery calibration" procedure is advised, you should not do that.
trick: when you click the little battery icon in the top menu bar, you also see if there is a heavy energy user running.

Anyone have any other tips before I return the unit as defective?

May as well try a hard reset: press & hold both the Home (round one at bottom center of the screen) and the Sleep (small button on the top of the case) buttons for 10+ seconds. If successful, you'll see the white Apple logo appear in the screen and the boot process will continue. If not, time to head back to the Geek Squad.

  • IPhone 4S, brand new, won't connect to computer, will connect to charger. Help?

I bought a new iPhone 4S last week. After trying to connect it to my computer, it asked me to uninstall and reinstall windows. I did. Still wouldn't connect to computer (windows). I have an iPod touch as well. It's been working great with my computer and iTunes for almost two years. Never had a problem with that. With the iPhone I've tried using different usb ports, nothing, different cords, nothing, tried resbooting iPhone while plugged into computer, nothing, tried rebooting the computer with iPhone plugged in, nothing, closed all background running apps, nothing, tried updating to iOS6, and THAT did nothing. It will connect fine to the charger, but my computer absolutely refuses to even sense it. Has anyone else had this problem, or should I just take it back to the store tomorrow?

    Hey Battlefieldaa,
With the battery in the device plug it in to charge. Leave it charge for awhile and then try and hold down the Red phone key to power the device on. If this does not work then you can try doing a Reset to Factory on the device. This article will show you how to do it http://bit.ly/98bCNO

  • My brand new MacBook Pro won't turn on. What's the deal with this?

I got the thing yesterday. Sat down with it last night and everything started up fine. I set up my account and then it was time for updates. Naturally, I said yes to the updates. They downloaded, they installed, and that was the last time my brand new MacBook Pro turned on. I've checked to see that the battery is fully charged. I've tried plugging into other outlets. I've tried removing the battery and the power cord and pressing the power button for 5 seconds. Nothing has worked. When I put my ear up to it while pressing the power button, I can hear it try to start and get about 2-3 seconds in to start up and then a click and nothing. Does anybody have any idea what the heck has happened here?

  • Brand new Ipod touch won't charge or turn on

I recently got a brand new Ipod touch. The first thing I did was plug it in to charge it. A red battery icon showed up on the screen. I left the ipod on the charger for hours and the icon was still red. It won't turn on either. I have tried connecting it to ITunes but the red battery icon just comes up whenever I plug it into the computer and it does not show up on itunes. I am new to the ipod touch so maybe I am doing something wrong, or is there a fault in the ipod??
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks!

    First try reset.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • PLEASE HELP 2/24/13 Brand new iPod Touch 5th Gen froze on set up and I tried to shut it down and it was on the apple logo screen for a long time and it shut down but now it won't turn on! PLEASE HELPPPPPP

DESPERATE PLEASE HELP So my mother got herself an iPod touch 5g for Christmas and barely asked me to set it up last night, (BRAND NEW NOT OPENED YET).. I set it up not plugged into iTunes (directly on iPod). I was setting up a new iTunes account for her (got passed Wi-fi set up and location services) and as I was doing that, it mysteriously froze somehow. So I held the home button and power button down simultaneously, which I thought would restart the iPod/shut it down.. so it did, and it was on the apple logo screen for a LONG TIME.. and when I checked after a long time, it was black. I tried to turn it on, charge, and plug it into itunes (iMac computer) and it won't turn on!!!!! PLEASE HELP
