Brand new Zen V plus headac

on my replacement unit from the store, I now seem to have a dead Zen V Plus.
I've tried resetting, a no-go.
the pc is OK, it got my first unit working,of the 3 units I bought.
I feel the Zen V plus is a product that has ruined my Christmas gift giving this season. I will have to dump the unopened unit to at least recoup a small portion of my investment, as the retail store is not going to help me any further, I was lucky to get them to replace my first defecti've unit after the 7 days expired...
Is there any support for a group.complaint here ?

I am assuming you are in the U.K. Retail law states that if a product is faulty you may return it to the retailer for repair, replacement, or?refund at the retailer's discretion. The law states that?the retailer is?allowed?a reasonable?chance to repair the unit and if the fault still exists you are entitled to a full refund (less postage if any). There is no time limit on this! Any time limit imposed by the retailer is ILLEGAL. They are required by law to sell you a product fit for the purpose for which it was sold - if this is not the case then they are in breach of this law. The warranty covers defects in manufacture for the period of the warranty. The retailer may legally require you to deal direct with Creative with regard to repairs under the warranty, but the retailer is the one you need to hassle for a refund for the defecti've product. The law also states that if the unit is faulty from new, you are entitled to have the unit replaced. This has to be done 'within a reasonable time-frame'; this usally means within a couple of weeks. If you have already had a replacement unit and that is faulty also, then you are perfectly entitled to demand a full refund from the retailer - WITHOUT QUESTION. They may decide to replace the unit again; this decision is not theirs, it's your's. You decide if you want to have the unit replaced at this stage or have your money back. If you have bought the item mail-order then you can return it for a full refund within 7 days even if you just don't like?the colour - faulty items are excluded from the time limit. Check out the full statement of law online for full details; it does take a bit of wading through though. Hope this hel

• HELP! Brand New Zen Stone Plus WON'T TURN

Just received the product today, downloaded and installed the latest software. Charged the unit for 3 hours and successfully loaded mp3 onto the player. Following every direction and clicked the "safely remove hardware" option. All ready to go... press the on/off button... NOTHING HAPPENED! No screen! LED light did not turn on! NOTHING!
So went to Creative site and follow the "fix it myself" direction, reset the player did not work, formatting the player did not work. There is no firmware download available for Zen Stone Plus (only Zen Stone), so I could not try that option.
I am starting to think there is a defect in my player. Do you guys have any suggestion on what I should do? Does any know how to contact Creative's US customer support (email address and/or phone numbers)? And please don't refer me to the 3 dollars to 30 mins support because I already spent money expecting to buy a non-defecti've product.
I tried looking for the customer support number before posting this message. I did not know Creative have such a poor customer support system! I clicked the "email support" on its site and it directed me to some "fix the player yourself" page (I also tried those solution but did not help), and does not lead to any customer support number! HORRIBLE!Message Edited by misellu on 07-3-20070:6 PM
****** UPDATE*********
Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
Since I didn't want to spend more time to fuzz over a defecti've product, I returned my Zen Stone Plus to Amazon (I did this because I know sending it to Creative would take much longer time before I receive a replacement). Amazon sent me a new one in about 3 days at no charge (and free return shipping). The new one works fine now and does everything its suppose to do (so far...).
Just like I wrote it when I posted the problem, I tried different time intervals and it still wouldn't turn on. I couldn't have lock the unit because it requires power on to turn on the lock (which I was unable to turn on the unit).
The lesson I learn here is think about the product's customer support and where I am buying from before purchasing anything online. I would definitely think twice before buying Creative's products again.

mine wont turn on after almost two weeks since i bought my player. i went to the store where i bought my player, asked them to replace my player right there and then (because i firmly believed that it was a factory defect) but to no avail. so i let the creative support checked my player and voila! my player was infected with WORM VIRUS!!! they fixed my player, deleted the virus and was all set after 2weeks. i scanned my computer, found A LOT OF WORM VIRUS, deleted them before connecting my player to this computer. after transferring files to my player & disconnecting it from this pc, it wont turn on again!! and i havent used it for at least 0mins since i got it back! darn!! i'm gonna return it again to the storea and ask for creative support's help again. does anybody know if there is an anti-virus available for zen products?

• Brand New Zen V Plus is Fro

My player is less than a week old. The Now Playing screen is constantly displayed. None of the buttons work, even the on-off button. An audio book is at 0:32:07 with -0:22:48 left. This happened as I was fast forwarding to find the place I had left off. For some reason, yesterday as I tried to resume playing the book, it refused to start. After turning the player off and on, it did start to play again at the beginning of the book. In fast forwarding to find my place, just now, it suddenly froze.

Here is a follow up on my post. I just allowed the Zen V Plus to run out of power, so the display finally turned off. Then I connected it to my computer and the Zen began to recharge. After it was recharged, it seemed to be working. The only thing wrong was that it seems to have lost my book license so I had to resynch it. That worked and I again tried to fast forward and find the spot in the book where I had left off. That also worked and I hope my problems are over.
Was my problem an indication that there may be further ones down the road?

• My brand new iPhone 6 Plus showing call time 2 hrs 41 mins when I did not even use the phone yet! Did I just purchased a used phone?

Hi,
Can anyone advise why my brand new iPhone 6 Plus showing Lifetime 2 hrs 41 mins under Settings/Call Time? I did not even use the phone to make call yet!
Thank you.
Regards,
SC.

Hi
I meant when they test a percentage of devices as part of quality control - to make sure that a particular batch of phones is defect free and market ready
The Call time is apparently the total time one spends talking on the phone between total resets and wipes

• Brand New Zen Neeon Froz

I recieved a brand new Zen Neeon for Christmas. While i was listening to it, it just froze up. I wasn't even touching the MP3 player, so i don' think i did anything to it to make it freeze up. Is there anything
I can do to unfreeze it's

I believe the Neeon has a reset button, have a look for it and then use something like a bent paperclip to press it. Don't use anything sharp.

• Computer doesn't not find my new Zen V Plus

Well, I got my new Zen V Plus 8gb yesterday, installed ZEN V Series Media Explorer and Creative MediaSource 5 Organizer (aswell as the drivers for the Zen etc.)
I've charged the player for more than 6 hours, but my computer can't find it, it just doesn't show up, it says "please connect your creative zen to your computer" or somethign similar when I try to use Creative MediaSource 5 Organizer, and ZEN V Series Media Explorer just don't locate it.
I can start the player and browse around in it etc. so it works, my computer just can't locate it, it can recharge it though.
(I'm not having any of these problems with an iPod I have, aswell as a camera etc. so it's not the USB-dri've)
Anyone know what the problem might be?
My specs:
Windows XP SP2
Intel Dualcore 2.4ghz
3gb RAM
Edit: I've found it in the device manager, but it seems that it thinks it hasn't got any drivers, even though I installed them :S
I've also gone through this: http://ask.americas.creative.com/SRV...e.com,case=9287 but to no avail.

• My brand new Zen player br

So I bought myself a shiny new Zen player December 23 as a nice Christmas gift. I carried it with me on a skiing trip a couple of days after that and used it while going down the mountains. I liked the cool features it had, like really good sound quality, a bright screen and a neat user interface. Also the battery life was impressi've and good software came bundled with the player. My Zen player made my skiing trip something special.
Fast forward to December 3 and new years eve. I had decided to hang out at a friends house and with a bunch of people to celebrate the new year. He li'ves across town so I rocked some tunes on my Zen on the subway to his place. The ride felt a lot shorter than it is, thanks to all the good music. When I well arri'ved I carefully put the player in my jacket pocket, hoping to use my little buddy while taking the subway home, after the new years party.
A half an hour into the party I realize that my friends playlist for the night consists of the downloaded ITunes music on his sisters MacBook. I quickly decide that we're gonna have the Zen DJ a little session and run upstairs to go fetch it. But upon turning it on the screen looks all white and flickering, I had heard of some players needing to be reset if this occurs, but nothing could help my little buddy! I tried resetting it and even reformatting it back home, nothing helped.
I finally returned it to the place where I got it to see why it had suddenly broken down like that. The guy stared at me and said that it looked like the had been pressure applied to it, causing the screen to break. I concurred that it in fact looked brand new and had no visible marks on it - so they decided to send it off to the repair service to get it checked out.
A couple of days later the store calls me and says the repair service confirmed their suspicions that some pressure had been applied to the screen. Very odd since I only left it in my jacket pocket for 30 minutes before returning to go get it on new years eve. Also he says that it isn't covered by Creatives product guarantee, but they've offered to replace the screen for 90$. I decide to let my little buddy go and tell the store to do whatever they want to do with it (I would hope they cremate it, but you never know).
I am sad that my little buddy is gone now... but I will always remember our ski trip together.
Thank you and I wish you have more luck with your Zen players!

There are things you can do however since it is only 2 days since you got it return it. If it's not working properly now it may just be the start of more issues.

• How can liquid indicator be red in a brand new iphone 6 plus when it's never been wet?

I have a brand new iphone 6 plus that turned off in the middle of a call I was on. It never turned on again. I took it to the store, they inspected the phone under the direction of an apple technician and could find NOTHING wrong with it. I shipped it to apple to be repaired, they just sent me an email saying the liquid indicator inside the phone is red. No kidding, this phone was only out of it's case for about 10 minutes and that was only because it took me that long to go buy the case. I know there has never been liquid of any kind anywhere near that phone. They said I have to buy another new phone. What will stop this from happening again?

There is not an Apple store closer than 2.5 hours away from me which is why they had me ship it to them. The AT&T guy that was helping me was on the phone with Apple and he asked the rep where the liquid indicator was on the 6+ and the Apple rep told him it was in the headphone jack. He initially looked in the SIM card slot but saw nothing, which is why he asked. When he looked in the headphone jack he said "it's completely white" to the Apple tech. It's funny you mentioned the humidity and having it in the bathroom while showering. I never would have thought such an expensive and highly regarded phone could be effected by something like that, especially when it in a full case. However, the tech I "chatted" with a little bit ago actually said this:
Cheryl:
"The phone doesn’t need to be submersed to have the liquid indicators turn red. My daughter caused her liquid indicator on her iPod by bringing it in the bathroom while showering."
Followed by:
Cheryl:
"If the humidity is very high it can cause damage yes. My rule of thumb I tell my kids is if your glasses fog up or there is condensation on the glass it could damage electronics that aren’t protected."
I copy and pasted that from the transcript that was emailed to me.

Does anyone know, whether or not Creatve's new Zen V Plus player displays the album art while playing a song? If not then Creative can keep it as far as I'm concerned.

I don't quite understand Creative's strategy in releasing a gig Zen V, and especially a gig Zen V plus. If it was up to me I would have the Zen V and V plus available in 2, 4, or 6 gigs. The one gig capacity is covered by Nano Plus. Perhaps a more interesting idea would have been to release a 2 gig Nano Plus, and release the V and V Plus in 4 gigs, 6 gigs and 8 gigs capacities. Will Creative soon release a flash memory based mp3 player with at least 2 gigs of storage that uses a AAA battery?
They're supposed to be slimming down their MP3 player product line I think, so I wouldn't expect them to release yet another player. I definitely don't like your idea, some people want a V or V Plus in a lower capacity than 4 GB, if they didn't have lower capacities people might turn to other companies with a similar player in lower capacity (and thus, a lower price).Message Edited by HHS on 06-25-2006 :0 AM

• Blank screen brand new zen mi

I have just opened and charged up my brand new zen micro. The screen is blank! Completely blank. No words, no battery indicator, nada. I've down loaded the software, (version 4.00.3), and I've read through the posts here. This cannot be a contrast problem because I cannot see anything on the screen, therefore I cannot adjust the contrast. I cannot reset the player because I cannot see the menu. I have tried removing the battery holding the on/off switch to on and reinserting the battery but still get a blank screen. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, or is this new unit just defecti've and should I return it's

I charged it for only 4 hours, the blue surround light came on when I plugged it in or unplugged it, did not stay on or flash - never saw a battery indicator at all. The songs that came with it play just fine after randomly pressing buttons
Thanks for your help!

• No connection after installing firmware 1.10.03 on brand new Zen Nano P

Hi all,
After I installed the new firmware, .0.03, my Zen Nano Plus is no longer recognised by my computer (it seems to work fine otherwise). What should I do?
I have tried this on not just one, but three different computers, with no luck, even though all three computers recognise another Zen Nano Plus (my son's) which still runs on .03.02.
I followed the instructions for installation of new firmware, so I have installed a "Player Recovery Device", but I don't know how to access/activate it in order to get back to the older version of the firmware. As far as I can tell, the relevant page on the discussion forum
(http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=3)
and the relevant page on the Creative Knowledge Base (SID4794) do not actually tell you how to ACCESS the recovery mode but only how to INSTALL it (whereas the info for other players, e.g. MuVo2, does tell you how to access recovery mode).
I seem to be pretty much in the situation described by "takabanana" (post dated 0-04-2006),
http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/
message?board.id=dap&message.id=9493&query.id=9573 9#M9493,
but I do not understand how he fixed his problem (What do you mean by "until it caught"? What happens when it "catches"?).
So I would be extremely happy about any advice you might have on
- . how to get my Zen Nano Plus back to Firmware .03.02, and/or
- 2. how to make my computer recognise my Zen Nano Plus with Firmware .0.03.
yours, Sten

Thanks to both responses so far.
I did what PB suggested and everything is fine now (running .03.02 again).
Apart from the obvious problems with .0.03 that almost everybody seems to be having, my particular problem was that I did not understand that the Zen Nano Plus is in Recovery Mode (and thus accessible to the loading of different firmware) AS SOON AS it turns up in the Device manager as "Player Recovery Device". I thought that something more had to happen.
yours, Sten

• New zen v plus won't play!!! he

HI, just spent the day downloading music from napster and my hard dri've to my new creative zen v plus mp3 player. (used to have the muvo and I loved it) and after 3 hours of hard work I unplugged the mp3 from my computer and the green down toggle doesn't seem to take me down on ANY of the menus. Not only that, but it says it is playing, but I can't hear anything and there is no evidence of any files on there. (not that I can check due to not being able to go down to select artists, albums, etc. (in music library menu)? When I look on the explorer on my computer when it (the zen) is plugged in via USB, it shows all my music on the player!!! what is going on? very frustrated as was a birthday present. (by the way, I followed all procedure including the full charge before doing anything with the mp3)

I've been away from this thread for a while because my new 8GB Zen V Plus simply stopped working. Nothing brought it back to life including reset with a paper clip. One moment it was working...the next it was dead. Fortunately I was within the 30 days of Comp-U-Plus' return policy and they exchanged it. I received the replacement today and guess what.... It has the same problem: It won't update the firmware. It just says the player isn't plugged in even though the repair program finds it just fine. This happens on two different computers. I contacted Creative support as suggested above and they gave me the same links to the same KB articles this forum gives. At this point I'm sure it's not the player and it's the firmware update software. It's time for Creative's engineers to contact people in this forum and figure out what the problem is to correct it. This isn't an isolated problem. Dale

• Brand new Zen, less than 1 hour use..crashed and will not b

Purchased on 5th of June 2006, less than hr use and not working!!
SPECS
TYPE - TYPE : Zen Micro Photo
Capacity - 8GB
DATE - DATE June 5th 2006
PRICE - $99
COUNTRY - US (whilst on holiday, I bought 2, one for a US friend and one for me)
ACCESSORIES -None
SOUND QUALITY - decent!
USER INTERFACE - UI is ok
SOME COMMENTS - IT has now crashed with less than hours use, it will not boot up, will not charge via USB,it's brand new.. so no. I hate this player. A player should never have this type of problems with less than hours use!!!
SUGGESTIONS - MAKE A PLAYER THAT WORKS
BATTERY LIFE - THe first time I used it, I had just had my friend transfer her music files onto it after doing the same to her player. I just wanted to make sure that it worked properly this was on the 8th of June
on the 9th I got on a flight and headed to the UK, I did not use the player at all, but I noticed that the battery life had slightly reduced even though the player was off.
On Saturday the 0th I went for a walk to and used the player for no more than 30mins.
Everything seemed fine, I adjusted a few settings like the sensitivity of the touch pad and put the player on shuffle. I got home, shut the player down and fell asleep.
Sunday (today) June th. the player refused to boot when switched on, it just hung on the floating creative Zen micro screen. I shut it down and it took ages for it to shut down even though it didn't fully boot up.
I called my friend in the US and asked her if shher battery was failing she said no, I installed the softtware on my machine, slid the back of my zen, removed the battery and replacd it immediately.
After installing the software, I connected the ZEn to the machine via USB, nothing happened.
It won't charge, the Zen windows explorer doesn't hink anything is connected to the machine.
I am severely disappointed. I spent $400+ buying 2 players with creative, I do not expect a new product to fail so miserably on its first outing.
Where the heck do I go from here...
creative owes me an apology and a decent brand new replacement.
A very very dissappointed buyer indeed!
In summary,
THe player will not boot up
It will not charge
I cannot get it into recovery mode
The screen remains blank
It did not come with a mains charger, just a USB cable to charge via the computer
How can such a shoddy product be released?
I bought this product int he US with my credit card..
I would have to go back to the US in order to get a refund and I would have to do this before 4days are up. which means the deadline for a refund is 9th of June 2006
Would creative be willing to incur my costs and time to fly back to NY in order to return this nightmare of a product!!
This is soo shoddy it is unbelievable.
Creative please rescue your reputation and sort this out.

Unfortunately scratches aren't considered a defect.
If the click wheel stopped working or the screen went bad, then that's covered under warranty. But scratches, unfortunately aren't. I would do a search. There have been a few people with success with scratch removers.
The iPod comes partially charged. There's also that fast chargering, and a full charge.
check out the iPod support site for tips on maximizing battery life.
