you need to post the results from btspeedtester http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ run first test and when it completes run diagnostics and post the results to show your profile

Very close to my exchange and regulary get near full 8Mbps from a very stable connection.
Looks like this weekend has seen my bRAS profile stuck AGAIN! =(

profile will only change if you have problems with connection and connection drops. the reason for the 3+ days connection is to ensure that line is now stable to avoid the same thing happening next again day and the automatic system should correct the profile in that timescale. normally if you drop connection and connects back at lower speed profile will drop almost immediately to correct value for current speed but when speed reverts back to 'normal' the profile on adslmax 20CN can take 3/5 days to increase.
the mods are the certain way to get profile fixed but you can try others

BRAS PROFILE STUCK - MISERY

I had a problem on my line a week ago. Openreach engineer visited. SWitched the wire from the street box, so that the signal comes through a new wire, not the 1970's original. Switched the route my broadbands gets from Exchange to the box. Hardware all seems to work fine. But speed is abysmal! (Worse than dial-up). Here's what www.speedtester.bt.com shows...

This seems fairly clearly to point towards the IP Profile (I believe called the BRAS profile?) being set too low. This number hasn't changed all week. I have asked BT on about ten occasions to change the BRAS limit. Usually the people at 0800 111 4567 don't understand what a BRAS profile is.
How do I get BT to raise the BRAS/IP Profile? Or, is there likely/possibly another issue? Is there a number I can call where someone will actually be able to help?

You may need to hold the sleep/wake button and the home button until the apple logo appears. Or anther thing you can try is draining the battery until the battery is dead. That's what i tried and worked. You may need to do those things more than 2 times. OH anther thing is you can try connecting you ipod to your computer and see if it appears on itunes. If those don't work you can send it to apple. So that's what helped me I hope I answered your question.

You can only get the profile back if you plug into a computer that has the configuration profile in Apple Configurator or get the profile wirelessly from an MDM.

When you click on the reset button, this error below comes up. If you can't find the button it is the navy colored rectangular thing in the lower left corner of page.

IP/bRAS Profile Stuck

We believe that the IP/bRAS profile is stuck on our phone line. We had it replaced about 5 weeks ago after it was damaged in adverse weather. Before our line was damaged, we could get between 3 and 4 Mbit downstream. However, it has been almost five weeks and our line is still sycned at 1152kbps, where the router is showing the maximum attainable rate at 5104kbps, almost 5 times faster!
We have attempted to get in contact with BT - however phone calls and email exchanges with their call center suggest that they are not equipped to solve the problem - instead being repeatedly asked for my operating system and web browser.
Any help on here would be much appreciated!

Are you trying to call yourself to test FaceTime? If so, you must have a second E-Mail address registered with your Apple ID. In other words, there must be a different E-Mail address on each unit.

IPod Touch 2G, WinXP SP2, iPod stuck in limbo (can't get it to restore)

Hi.
While trying to install the latest iPod Touch software update, error 1602 was displayed.
At first we tried to restore the iPod; no luck. Then exited iTunes and restarted the PC.
PC does not recognize the device, and cannot find the device driver, since the error popped up.
(Note: the PC account used for the download/install is NOT the Admin account.)
When attempting to go into restore mode on the iPod, the screen does blank out,
then shows the Apple logo, but this is followed by a picture of "Connect to
iTunes" message. Unfortunately, iTunes does not see that there's a device
attached (nor does WindowsXP).
As stated in the Subject, we are on WinXP SP2. Apple suggests SP3 (didn't know
that when we started).
1) Is SP3 absolutely required? Can we install the update on the iPod without
updating the PC?
2) How do we break out of the "Connect to iTunes" screen on the iPod?
(Saw a posting for DFU mode, but didn't want to go down that path
until absolutely necessary.)
3) Suggestions on how to get WinXP SP2 to recognize that there is a
device connected?
4) Is iTunes 10.1.1 required for the iPod update and does 10.1.1 require
WinXP SP3? (I think we're one version before 10.1.1 on this PC.)

- Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

the problem is that you have two Upgrade disks
only work with a previously installed OS
Don't worry about firmware, it would have told you via pop up that it needs firmware updates
get the disks that Originally came with your computer
since you didn't list what kind you have im going to assume it came with a
software/restore DVD
locate that
you WILL have to do a clean install to it
so back up your files first
run that as erase and install
(select destination/click options/erase and install)
then when thats done stick in the 10.3 upgrade disk
and so on up till tiger
in my experiance the problems with the updates were most likely corruption is the os
which happens to any system over time
so it's good you are trying to reinstall it
good luck and if you run into snags call apple so they can walk you through it
you get 90 days support when you buy tiger
