  • Varying ON time pulse train generation using NI cRIO-9073 and NI 9401 module

    Hi,
I am a beginner to the Labview environment.  Am using NI cRIO-9073 and NI 9401 module; and NI Labview 2013. I want to generate 64 pulses, wherein the ON time of the pulses are varying as shown below. The Pulses need to have a constant period of about 34µs. The pulses should have a constant amplitude anywhere from 5 to 10V. I am trying to do the same in FPGA interface mode but failing to do so. Please advise me..... Please also suggest pdf and video resources to learn Labview programming.

    t81,
It is possible to make frequency measurements with either the 9422 or the 9425 but each will have its own limitations in the range of frequency it will be able to accurately measure.
    A few things to know:
    1. What are the frequency ranges for each sensor (tach and MFM)? More than just knowing Hz/kHz will be helpful.
    2. To what accuracy do you need to measure these signals?
The 9422 supports a specialty digital configuration counter input that can be configured for frequency measurement (see link)
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/372603F-01/riohelprt/crio-9422_rt/
The specialty mode is only available when using Scan Interface mode, not with FPGA.
But the max clock rate in the specifications for the 9422 is 4kHz so this may not be sufficient for the tachometer.  I believe this is the max rate at which the module will update its state no matter how fast the underlying software (RT controller) is running.
The 9425 has a higher clock rate (~140kHz) but doesn't support the specialty digital mode mentioned above.  It is also a software timed only device but this shouldn't be a problem if you use FPGA.

  • Frequency measurements using NI cRIO 9073 and NI 9425 or NI 9422 modules

    Hi everyone!
I'm trying to measure two frequency signals using a cRIO 9073.
I'm already using a NI 9425 module for digital inputs.
I need to measure two (2) frequency signals.
Is it possible to use this module (NI 9425) or NI 9422 for frequency measurements either in Scan Engine or FPGA mode?
In case it is, if you could point me to any example, it would be appreciated.
I'll try to be more explanatory:
These two frequency signals are in completely different ranges.
The first is a frequency signal from a DC motor tachometer and the second one is from a mass flow meter.
So the frequency ranges vary from KHZ for the tachometer output, to Hz for the MFM output.
The rest of the channels on the module are simple Digital Inputs.
Also, I have the option to use a NI 9422 module if NI 9425 is not appropriate.
    Thanks in advance,
    t81

  • ATV2: Optical Out not working / No TV

I have an extra Apple TV 2 that I wanted to hook to a stereo receiver I have - it is an older receiver w/ optical inputs, but no HDMI.  There is no TV around - I just want to use airplay and/or the remote app to select songs from my library to play through the optical connection to the receiver.
I hooked up the optical out directly to the stereo system and configured it all to work, but the ATV will not send any audio out.
I did more testing by hooking the ATV up to my main system, which has a TV.  If I connected only the optical cable I could never get any sound.  If I also connected the HDMI then once I switched to the HDMI input I would get sound from both the HDMI and optical outputs (I had both configured to go to different inputs on the receiver so I could check).  Once I had selected the HDMI input once, the optical would work as long as the ATV was on.  Once I set the ATV to sleep, then woke it up, the optical would no longer work until I would select the HDMI input source on the receiver - then audio would work again over both channels.
Is this expected behavior?  It almost looks as though the ATV is purposely not outputting data until it has confirmed an HDMI connection on the other side - meaning it would be impossible for me to get this to work with just the optical connection.  However, I have read other posts here making it sound like it should work just fine.  Any ideas?  I really don't want to have to get a new receiver just to connect HDMI.
If it matter the receiver I have is a HK AVR140.  It should support whatever encoding format is coming from the TV.  I've tried tweaking the Dolby Digital configuration and the 16-bit one too - I haven't seen much else to configure on the ATV.
I have checked to ensure I have the latest software release as well.
    Thanks for any input.

The "latest software release" is the problem. What you tried to do would have worked any time over the last year since the ATV2's release, prior to the three bug-ridden 4.4 "updates" of last month, which broke this feature for everyone who bought the ATV2 to use as an AirPlay bridge to their stereo system. That would seem to be a lot of people, as it's been a frequent topic of discussion, with new threads popping up daily for weeks by people who've just discovered the bug. I suggest you register your dissatisfaction with this issue at:

  • Using both DVB-T & S-Video Inputs simultaneously on Qosmio G30

Is it possible, either in Qosmio player or Media Centre, to have the G30 set up to receive a signal from both the built in DVB-T tuner & an external source, such as Sky Digital, connected to the S-Video or Composite inputs?
The setup in Media Centre seems to insist that you choose one or other, which seems extremely limiting.
Also, if this is possible, would it then be possible to record from one and watch the other?
The other limiting feature seems to be that, despite having a hybrid TV tuner, Media Centre only allow either the Analogue or Digital tuner to be configured, again meaning that it cannot be used to record from one channel and watch another.

    Hi
This is a very interesting question but I presume this is not possible to do with the Microsoft MCE.
As you said you can use either the analogue or the digital configuration but not both together. But of course you can use standard connectors such as S-Video to connect your cable box or satellite receiver to your Media Center PC, and then watch and record TV programs.
But Im not sure if you can do it together.
Some Media Center PCs are equipped to handle multiple tuners.
For example, if your Media Center PC comes with two TV tuners, you can record two shows while watching a third recorded show.
Do you know the Microsoft MCE FAQ site???
    Take a look here:

  • SPA 8800 With Immarsat Conection on FXO

Hi We are trying to connect an imarsat phone to the FXO port of the SPA 8800
However I seem to be runing into issues with the DID number the number I have from suplier is +870122122890
When I try and put this number into the Connections  Seetings Tab It keeps telling me I can only have 6 digits
We also are making use of the E1's one to the PSTN who pass 4 digits ad the other to another router via e1
the line Usage is All Call Types
What I dont understand is where theis 6 digit limit is coming from if I leave it blank it indicates I ca have 23 digits

    HI Steven,
The DID on FXO trunk is the incoming called number, which typically will be assigned to the main number of that company or the Autoattendant number, that callers can use to reach other extensions.
It is a combination of extension length and the prefix and total length is same as length of main number that is configured on System - Dial Plan page. In your case, looks like the total length of digits configured on main number is 6 digits.

  • AI & DO running on SCXI 1000 / AI-16XE in synch.

I'm running a program that invovles giving out digital outputs and a set point retrieving AI data The hardware is AI-16XE. Individually the programs run fine but once both activites are working, the analogue program automatically assumes all the transfer allocations and the digital outputs seize. Is this something I can Control or is it a hardware problem?

I also have an application using SCXI and DO's with the AI-16XE. The SCXI requires the use of 4 of your DIO's for multiplexing. To check which ones are reserved, look in MAX utility at the Test Panel for the AI-16XE. The Digital I/O tab will show the reserved lines as greyed out. The other lines are available for your use, but you must use a Digital I/O VI that only deals with the available lines, and not the entire port. I use the 'Digital Group Config.vi', 'Digital Single Write.vi', and the 'DIO Clear.vi' along with virtual channels for the lines available for my use (personally, I find it simpler with virtual channels, but I'm sure it will be fine without). I would send an example, but my application is embedded in a complex program. After the proper analog and
digital configurations, the analog read and digital write vi's can run simultaneously.
You probably have already noticed, but you must also tap off of the 50 pin connector on the back of your SCXI inorder to access your DO's while using the SCXI.

    Hey Atrina,
The actual data stored on disk is just the raw data (that is, a byte per sample in your case).  It's really just a matter of how that data is being represented in LabVIEW whenever you read back the TDMS file.
I'm not sure if there is a better way to do this, but here is a way to accomplish what you're wanting:
Read back the TDMS file as a digital waveform.  Then there's a conversion function in LabVIEW called DWDT Digital to Binary.  This function will convert that set of digital channels into the "port format" that you're wanting.  I've attached an example of what I mean.
Note: When looking at this VI, there are a few things that the downgrade process did to the VI that I would not recommend for these TDMS files.  It added a 1.0 constant on the TDMS Open function, and it set "disable buffering" on the TDMS Open function to false; you can get rid of both of those constants.

  • How to configure CoSign Electronic Digital Signatures for UCM 11g

    Hi everyone,
current I am doing a UCM poc with CoSign Electronic Digital Signature for a customer, this case is that when user approve a check-in PDF document in workflow, the user can use "sign and approve" to invoke the electronic digital signature action.
since ECM 11g is based on weblogic, I configured the keystore for the weblogic as the below steps:
    1) use keytool to import a keystrore file just as cosigncert.jks from the cert file which provided by the vendor CoSign.
    2) Security Realms->myRealm->Providers->Credential Mapping, create a new provider using "PKI Credential Mapping Provider" and configure the storekey cosigncert.jks for this provider.
    3) Security Realms->myRealm->Providers->Authentication, select DefaultIdentityAsserter and add x509
    4) configure storekey for AdminServer and UCM managerServer using cosigncert.jks
    5) configure SSL for AdminServer and UCM managerServer.
after finishing this steps, access the UCM console to do the approve with siginature. but it always throw "can not find the validate certification path"
does any one know which step missing?

How do I fix a configuration problem with my external Western Digital My Book 2 TB drive which used to both read and write. Something has happened so that the drive is now read only? There is 600 GB of data on the drive that I cannot lose, thus am very concerned about messing around with formatting the drive which is raid 1 and filled with data.

3rd party disk maintenance and repair should be a must and given rather than rely solely on Apple Disk Utility.
Data and system maintenance and recovery plan - should be like practice for sports, arts, military with practice and making sure you will know how and the tools you need - ahead of time
Resetting USB/FW ports, try another if one won't work. When 10.6 came out there was a lot of grinding teeth with external drives not working or mounting.
