Mostly these errors are caused by permission problems on the tdpo / tsm log file. You need to run tdpoconf as root and the corresponding log files are created with root permissions only. Just delete these log files or change the permissions of these log files (check your dsm.sys configuration file) and it should work.

    Hi,
tsm stores version and tsm client password info in initSID.bki in addition to TSM.PWD.
If you use "password_access=generate" it requires to update the
password for the nodename in charge as well and this needs to be done in TSM.PWD (!).
TSM.PWD needs to get root:dba and 660 permission to make backint able to update the password
in TSM.PWD when "password_access=generate" is configured.
I think it is better to configure a seperate node in dsm.sys to do the DB backups and
    configure a special TSM.PWD in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/TSM.PWD.
This way users of group dba are not able to steal away a TSM.PWD for i.e. the rootfs backup.
Tipp does not apply if you are on AIX with "password_access=prompt".
    Hope this helps
    Volker

  • [linux-3.2] watchdog: error registering /dev/watchdog

Today, kmod replaced module-init-tools, and after upgrading my system, noticed this error after udev loaded:
Jan 6 07:44:41 localhost kernel: [ 4.528051] watchdog: INTCAMT: cannot register miscdev on minor=130 (err=-16).
    Jan 6 07:44:41 localhost kernel: [ 4.528088] watchdog: error registering /dev/watchdog (err=-16).
Jan 6 07:44:41 localhost kernel: [ 4.528113] mei: unable to register watchdog device.
Thankfully, nothing else happened and my system didn't go kaput. But reading the manpage, watchdog does appear to be important. Since udev errors were expected with the kmod upgrade, and this error never occurred before today (checked my /var/log/everything.log), it appears kmod is the likely culprit.
Edit: Tried posting this to the ML, and discovered that the general public does not have write access to the ML. So if some developer thinks this is important, hopefully that person will see this post.

I finally found some time to dig in the kernel source a bit and found that I was wrong. Sorry for the confusion. There's nothing wrong with the Intel MEI watchdog driver and the softdog is not involved at all. The truth is that the watchdog core functions only support 1 watchdog device via /dev/watchdog [1]. If the iTCO_wdt driver would use the watchdog core [2], we'd get the correct "only one watchdog can use /dev/watchdog." message and the IMEI watchdog registration would not be attempted. But it doesn't. It registers in a different way [3] and so the core does not "know" about another watchdog being already registered, attempts to register the IMEI watchdog and fails with the confusing "cannot register miscdev..." message.
The bottom line is that the kernel supports only one watchdog and we (administrators) have to decide which device we want to use.

  • Virtual Box error: error mounting /dev/sda1 on /mnt

    Hello folks,
After getting fed up with Ubuntu's bloated setup, I was trying to switch to Arch linux. But before that I wanted to try it in Virtual Box. I was using Arch Linux Core image for this.  But after setting up file system and mountpoint I am getting this error:
    error mounting /dev/sda1 on /mnt
    The steps I followed:
    1. Source: Core local
    2. Editor: Nano
    3. Clock: As usual
    4. Prepare hard drive:
       a) Manually Partition (as this is what I will be doing during actual installation)
       b) /dev/sda
       c) New partition on all space available on virtual machine, making it primary, bootable, Type: Linux Extended (option 85).
       d) Write partition and Quit and Done
    5. Manually configure block device, filesystems and mountpoints.
       a) dev
       b) Do not recreate file system.
       c) Set ext4 format and mount point, ignoring swap space or seperate /boot partition.
       d) Now when I goto next step as Done, It gives an error : Error mounting /dev/sda1 on /mnt/.
Is there any problem with creating the filesystem as I have done? Can anyone shed some light if there is any particular configuration needed for virtual machine. I searched the forum for other options. But none of them seem applicable for me.
    Thank you for your time.

What host os and CPU are you using? The message states that you need virtualization hardware support in the CPU (Intel VT-x or AMD-V) in order to run that 64 bit guets OS. Reasons for this error (that I could think of) could be:
    - you have a very old cpu
    - you have disabled virtualization in your bios
    - you are running a 32-bit host os

  • ERROR: Device '/dev/sda3' not found.

This is my first time compiling a custom kernel. I am trying to compile zen kernel 3.12.3. Whenever I try to boot it up, it says this:
ERROR: device '/dev/sda3' not found. Skipping fsck
ERROR: Unable to find root device '/dev/sda3'
Then it drops me to a recovery shell. When I look at the contents of '/dev' none of my partitions are found on sda. '/dev/sda' is listed but nothing else. Has anybody else had this problem? /i have read various fixes but none of them have helped.
Sorry this is my first post.
    Thanks in advance.

Well, the whole point of the initramfs is to have it load the necessary modules to mount the rootfs.  So if mkinitpcio complains that there are no modules to put in there, that is pretty problematic.
I think you should take a look at the PKGBUILD for the official Arch kernel.  It includes a few lines that allow you to use menuconfig or nconfig or whatever, prior to that actual 'make'.  I think that any time you install things to your system, you should probably be leveraging the package manager in order to properly track the files.  This is particularly true when you are an Arch user and the creation of packages is so damn easy.

  • Transport Error from Dev to QA.

    Hi All,
We r facing transport error while transporting req from Dev to QA,
Created queries in dev and try to trasport in QA.

    Ended with return code:  ===> 8 <==
    what could be the reason?
    Regards,
    SD

    Hi.
I have collected all neccessary object which query contains, but after releasing the request it shows the message,
The request contains message that have already been edited & transported to other projects. To avoid overshooter problem when importing you need to create dependency information for the request with which object were last transported. The requiered information is listed here together with the existing information.
Should i go ahed with above message???? Is there any dependency?
    Regards,
    SD

    Dear atakan yavuz
i have faced this issue and fix the issue.
After executing Oracle sapdba_role.sql which is provided in sapdba_role_ora10.SAR from SAP Note: Note 134592 - Importing the SAPDBA role (sapdba_role.sql)
Please execute manaully from sql prompt below statemets to assign the privileges to the owner SAPSR3 for the following tables which will fix the issue.

The cause is sapdba role script existing owner is SAPR3 but from SR3 release default owner is SAPSR3 so which is causing this issue so when grant the above tables to the SAP DB owner SAPSR3 where they can access the tables. The similar issue you will when you try to execute DBCheck also and even saplicense shows no valid license found.
Me too searching for Oracle 10.2.0.4 SAP SR3 release sapdba role in service market place which i am unable to find waiting for update from sap suppport.
Update in this thread after this action whether your issue has been solved.I
    Best Regards,

    Hello Stefan,
The third party tool we are using is Veritas Netbackup.
I use sapservice<sid>, who is the same user as SAP is using for executing the backup.
The external tool is not initiating the backup, but only used as the administrative tool for the backups. the backup is initiated from sap to brbackup. setting the tablespaces is not the error in this case.
The third pasrty tool doesn't create a logfile, because the backup aborts before communicating with the backup-tool.
I suspect some environment variable or something, but i havent'found out which one.
Especially because doing the backup from BR*Tools works perfectly.
    Regards,
    Cees
