Breadcrumbs Option for Muse

Sir/Madam,
I've been one who has worked with Muse from day one. It's grown into a WONDERFUL tool which makes designing a website fun! With the aforementioned said, I was wondering when the Muse team would create and rollout a way for users to create breadcrumbs? The widgets which are provided are great, but it would be nice to have such an option since this seems to a more practical way of designing paragraph text on a site.

If you figue out a way, let me know. I've played with it, and you just can't create a breadcrum path with the current menu bars.
The closest I've come is creating a line of text on each page with links to the appropriate pages... I soon abandoned that idea, 'cause it was a pain in the butt. Especially if you change your hierarchy.

Blogging Option for Muse: Adobe Muse and Rebel Mouse = Love

I love the speed of Muse and the ablity to get up and running fast. My hold out from bringing mysite to Muse was the lack of a blogging option. They are a few work arounds, but I've found my wordpress replacement. Rebel Mouse. I won't show my Muse build just yet, but here's my Rebel Mouse Site Embedded into Muse. Very clean and flawless. and the Good news is, when you build you mobile version, just use a link button and Rebal Mouse automatically gives a mobile version. Or you can Embed HTML in your Muse Mobile if you wish.

Customizing the Home/Root/Top option for breadcrumbs.

Hi:
I want to know if there's a way to customize the "Home Page Name" text in the dialog for formatting Breadcrumb Options. The pull-down menu lists three options: Home, Root and Top. I want to have my custom text, but I see no way to disable the "Home Page Name" text and supply one in the "Label" text field.
Example: I would like the breadcrumb to say "MyDoc > Book Blah > Topic Bleh" rather than " Home > Book Blah > Topic Bleh". Any thoughts?

Hi,
If you use Robo7, or Robo8 and add the breadcrumbs from the WebHelp navigation dialog, do the following:
In the WebHelp dialog (when you select File | Generate primary layout / File | Generate | Primary Layout) you can check to add breadcrumbs. Click the Format button, and in the field Home Page Name, select another name from the list, or type your own.
There's probably a way when you use Breadcrumbs placeholder, but I don't use that.

Is there a 'Show More' option widget for Muse?

Hi There,
I was wondering.. I have a page full of photo's in Muse, but this will take a long time to load if every picture is going to load at once.
Perhaps there is soms sort of 'show more' option in Muse? I searched, but couldn't find..

Best options for life (gulp) after iWeb...

Hey Gang,
Been using iWeb since its inception. I've learned to love it.
Well- with the begining of iCloud and the transition away from MobileMe I see the writing on the wall. I realize alot of people will continue to use iWeb but I want to be proactive as I have several business websites created on my iMac.
About 2 years ago I had a strange backup issue and lost everything. I nearly switched off of iWeb at that time but I just loved it too much.
I want to start making the switch sooner than later as I know that Apple will eventually not support iWeb. It's only a matter of time before there is some quirk with a new OS version and it probably just won't open or whatever it may be...
So- yesterday I spent 12 hours and tried out each of these sites: Wix, Snappages, Webs, Intuit Websites, Weebly, Yola, Google Sites, Jimdo, Roxer, Neosites, Vistaprint, Moonfruit, and Squarespace.
They all left ALOT to be desired except Squarespace. I think it has potential.
As an alternative, I also downloaded Adobe Muse and did not like it at all. I used Rapidweaver in the past and didn't think much of it. I see their new version is packed with tons of extra costs- no thanks!
I'm left with Sandvox which I am going to try today.
Here's my question: What do you folks suggest? Moving away from actual software (Sandvox)? Transitioning to web-based (Squarespace) ? I really like the drag/drop functionality of iWeb but realize I might have to make some concessions!
A concern is working on multiple sites that reside on my comouter and constantly having to backup. I might be creating 2-3 more sites for friends so that would mean I have close to 10. Do I really want to do that and essentially become a webmaster? No so sure.
I welcome all suggestions!
PS- I'm not a newbie but I also have not created and uploaded via an ftp/host. I do however have domains etc...
I'd like to do what is easiest and makes the most sense in the long run..

The main alternatives to iWeb, such as Sandvox and RapidWeaver, were not an option for me since they suffer from the same restrictions and cost a lot more. The other available drag and drop style software is either flawed or like, Freeway, antiquated and badly designed.
The online site builders do seem to offer a good alternative but they can be just as restrictive, cost a lot more and still produce huge ammounts of code. Some claim to be free but you need to look at the real cost - especially if you have more than one site. They do offer portable versions of the site suitable for iPhone etc and this has become a necessity - at least for a business site.
I chose to move on to a code entry style software and this has proved to be fairly easy since the one I use is WYSIWYG and I can see the changes in real time in the preview window. Its also cheaper than RapidWeaver and Sandvox and doesn't require add ons to optimize and upload the files.
HTML5 will allow us to build better, more efficient websites but its not quite there yet. If I hadn't made the move to code entry software I think I would have been tempted to stick with iWeb for the time being and use one of the online site builders to create a separate portable version for cell phones as a stop gap.
There has got to be a better way to create websites using drag and drop and I believe something will come along that will make apps like iWeb, Sandvox and RapidWeaver redundant. After all, why did Apple quit on iWeb?

Please add a no-sign-in feature for Muse in Enterprise

We install Muse in a multimedia lab for our university, in order to provide a wonderfully easy web design tool.
Our students and faculty are put off and confused by the login screen and the inconvenience of needing to create an adobe ID before accessing the program (and having to remember their Adobe password and sign in on every new machine). Would you guys be willing to consider a configuration option for enterprise users where the following changes occur:
+Upon launch, Muse would be logged into a generic university-wide account, for use with typekit. This account would be pre-configured during installation
+The Publish option for connecting to Business Catalyst would be greyed out, with a tooltip reading "To publish to your business catalyst, please log in with your adobe id"
+Individual users could log into their adobe accounts, replacing the generic login for their user profile only, on that machine
In exchange for these changes, I can offer to pre-populate the minds of the next generation with Adobe software usage habits...

I will have to check on this, and get back to you. I'm doing multimedia teaching--the guy who configured the install assured me that a "no sign-in option" wasn't available in August when he packaged the deployment.
We're on a CC Enterprise license; I'll ask our deployment guys to make absolutely sure that they are using the correct installer.

Breadcrumbs setting for top level ("home") is ignored in HTML Help

I think this is a bug..?
When I change the top level entry ("home" by default) to something different in the SSL, then this is ignored in the HTML Help output. The top level is still named "Home", despite my change. If I apply breadcrumbs via the master page and change it there, then all is fine - but in this project we cannot use master pages.
Also I found that custom colors do not display in the format options for breadcrumbs in the SSL. I can only select the text color from a fixed list of standard colors, my custom colors are not available.

Hmmm, I just tested by creating a Master Page with no CSS assigned. I then associated it with all my topics and the CSS was left alone.
Your call on whether you wish to pursue or not. But it's pretty straightforward to associate a single Master Page with all your topics. You just select them all in the Topic List pod, right-click and look at properties, then from the General tab you choose the desired Master Page.

Why no SCALE option for lightbox images?

Need SCALE options for lightbox images!
Must have SCALE DOWN option.
Images must scale down to display correctly on a smaller screen.
Currently Muse Lightbox FAILS on smaller browser screens.
Adobe please include this feature ASAP!

The problem with the Fullscreen Lightbox is that the images scale up and pixelate on a larger browser viewport.
(To avoid this requires a very large image that makes loading slow)
So for Fullscreen Lightbox I would like a SCALE DOWN ONLY option (requested previously). Then the images would not scale up above 100% and would float centred on larger browser viewports (FIT PROPORTIONALLY option used).
And for the standard lightbox a scale option, as requested above, would mean the image doesn't overflow on a smaller browser viewport.
The reason for asking for scale options is to keep images looking their best at 100%, and downscaling for smaller browser ports.

Personally I find this consistent:
Categories and Forums are two different things, so the Categories link is on a different level
( Post New Topic - Subscribe to Forum - Mark All Topics as Read - Back to Category ).
Tuttle your version too is consistent though.
Now perhaps the whole thing is not a good idea and finally the old system was better?
I don't know, but personally I jumped on the "Categories" new features at once, found them very well designed and helpful, and am now very disappointed that they've been taken "temporarily" away.

As you can see, there is something I am missing in your explanations. Can you please tell me what was this feature that you miss so much, and how are you redirected too much (or instead?) to Apple main page?

Why am I suddenly getting the dreaded "ID = 5000" error with Illustrator 5.5? I'm only using CC for Muse.

I only use Adobe Creative Cloud for Muse... no other option. I have CS 5.5 and am suddenly getting the "you do not have enough access privileges" error and can't save any illustrations. What the hell is going on with Adobe?

You could try to reinstall using the full three step way (otherwise strange things may linger):
Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

Where can I find the options for usetopicformat?

Where can I find the options for usetopicformat? It appears that usetopicformat="0" (I'm formatting breadcrumb placeholders) ignores the style sheet and uses the settings in the rh-placeholder string).
I'd like to put settings in a style sheet. But changing to usetopicformat = "1" doesn't seem to help.
Are these "advanced" codes documented anywhere?
The full context is: I'm using a fixed position on the screen so the breadcrumb doesn't scroll (which works) but the classes in the style sheet are ignored.

As far as I have found, using the topic style prevents Robo from using it’s own styling for the breadcrumbs. But I saw that it also adds the class ‘breadcrumbs’ to the paragraph holding the breadcrumbs. So you should be able to use the following CSS selector to style the placeholder:

Need a "reel" Lightbox widget for Muse that can handle different pictures:

the trigger: a small thumbnail picture (1:1) and the "real" picture: bigger (sure) and from different size/shape for example 2 : 3.
Where can I get this widget?
I testet different widgets f.e. from musegrid - but they cannot handle two different picture, like the "classic" Lightbox from lokesh/lightbox2 · GitHub...

You can get close to this effect using the built-in slideshow widget.
Set the options for Full Screen and Lightbox.
Temporarily make the thumbnails large and square.
Select all the thumbnails and select Object > Fitting > Fit Content Proportionally.
Limitations with this approach include:
You can't stroke or round the corners of the thumbnails (assuming they have mixed aspect ratio) since the stroke or rounding will appear on the square frame the thumbnail is fit within, rather than on the image itself.
You can't crop the thumbnail differently than the hero image. Again because the frame is large and square and the image is fit within (in order to enable thumbnails with different aspect ratios).
I'm not aware of any third party Muse widgets that would get any closer to the exact effect you're looking to achieve.

Typekit webfonts not showing as options in Muse Web Fonts

I can see that Myriad Pro is an available font in Typekit, but it doesn't show up as a webfont option in Muse... What am I missing? Thanks!

This is Ben from Typekit. Currently, you can only use and preview the free and open-source Typekit fonts in Muse.
If you're comfortable with a little HTML/CSS, the Muse Insider wrote a post on how to insert the Typekit embed code from the Muse interface:

Or you can add the embed code to the Page Properties dialog within Muse, which will include it in the <head> of the page when you export your website.
However, we do see the value of being able to design in Muse with all the fonts in your Typekit library. This will require a deeper integration between Typekit & Muse. We're discussing such an integration with the Muse team and I'll give them a nudge on your behalf.

There is no FaceTime app for the iPhone if that's what you're asking. FaceTime is accessible through your Contacts as one of the options in how to contact a person -- there is no standalone FaceTime app for iPhone.
If you mean how to disable FaceTime, you can do that in Restrictions (Settings/General/Restrictions).

Needing a multi-month and year-in-view option for ical!

I turn off all calendars but the birthdays. Select [Print]. Choose all the months you want to see. Deselect all calendars but birthdays. Click [Continue]. On the next menu, go to "Layout", select how many pages to print on the paper. I usually print a border around each calendar then you're good to go!
By only printing the birthdays calenar, you won't get too many appointments to get in the way of brain storming and future planning, yet the computer still thinks its printing a useful calendar.
