Break Contract due to move and Verizon not available in new location?

I have recently moved and in my new location Verizon is not one of the service providers. When I called to disconnect my service at the old house the customer service rep also checked the new address and confirmed that Verizon would not be able to provide me service. Then she informed me that since I am under contract with Verizon that I would be required to pay $175 for breaking the contract. This is unreasonable since I have no choice in breaking the contract due to the fact that Verizon cannot provide me the service that the contract specifies. If I were breaking the contract and had the ability to obtain Verizon service, I can completely understand the fee. But, in actuality Verizon is breaking its contract with me by not providing me with service. How do I apeal the cancellation fee?

This gets asked over and over (try searching the forums). You accepted the discounts that came with a term contract easily enough, so why wouldn't Verizon have the expectation that you pay up if you terminate early? By the same token, would you be willing to go back and pay Verizon the higher monthly rate which might be associated with service plus any installation charges that might have been waived as the result of accepting a contract for all the months you've had the service so far? Wouldn't that be and equally reasonable expectation? I suspect the cost difference in the end would probably work out in your favor with the ETF. This is, in large part, why you see providers offer "no ETF contracts" (they have a higher monthly rate, but they don't have an ETF in exchange for that freedom).
The reality is, you signed a contract for service at a given location and the terms were disclosed when you accepted the service. The fact that Verizon might honor those terms for a relocation is a bonus as I see it, not an obligation.
Looking at it another way ... you chose to move. Regardless of the reasons -- you moved, not Verizon. Your selection of a location outside of a Verizon service was your choice, not Verizon's and as such it's not unreasonable to expect you to honor the contract or pay the ETF. If you moved as part of a relocation plan with a company, then this is something which you should try to get your employer to cover as a relocation expense.
Now, with that said, this is a user forum. No one here can "fix" this for you. Talking to customer service is really where you need to direct your inquiry to have any chance of getting them to waive the ETF. Good luck with your efforts.

After i select the photo that I want to move and click on the photo, I get a cirlcle with a diagonal throught it and am unable to drag the photo to its new location. What am I doing wrong? In the Elements Organizer 13
The key to all this is to click on/select/highlight the Album that you have created in Local Albums.
Then make sure that the Sort By: (in the row below the highlighted "Media" header is set for Album Order.
You should see a number at the top left of each of thumbnails.
Then, click on the thumbnail that you want to move, hold down the click, and drag the thumbnail to the wanted new location
in the line up of thumbnails.
Often I had to press down hard on the drag.
Please let us know if that worked for you.
Also, in Edit Menu/Preferences/Keyword Tags and Albums/Enable Manual Sorting Options, I set all for manual.

I can tell you that this is some of the absolutely worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I found out from a store employee that when they are really busy with calls, they have third party companies taking overflow calls. One of those companies is Xerox. What can a Xerox call center rep possibly be able to authorize on a Verizon account? I'm Sure there is a ton of misinformation out there due to this. They don't note the accounts properly or so everyone can see them. I have been transferred before and have asked if they work for Verizon or a third party also and was refused an answer so, apparently they aren't required to disclose that information. I spent a long time in the store on my last visit and it's not just customers that get the runaround. It happens to the store employees as well and it's beyond frustrating.

I have updated to Final Cut 10.1.1 but existing projects from previous version will not update and are not available. Have tried to re-install Final Cut as well as bring the projects to another computer which has the update, but they still will not update. Has anyone else encountered this problem and is there anyone who can assist?

In the Finder take a look at the path where your old projects and events are stored. They should be in Final Cut Projects and Final Cut Events folders respectively. Those folders need to be in Users/user/Movies on the boot drive and/or at the root level of other drives for FCPX to see them.
If that's indeed the case, then you should be able to get them updated ny using the Update Projects and Events command form the File menu and then clicking on Locate.

On the iOS device you must be logged into the store with the exact same Apple ID you used to originally purchase the service. Go to Setting > iTunes & App Stores and if necessary sign out/in and then enable iTM.

How to move library only (not data) to new SSD

I currently have an iMac with a 2TB drive which contains my OS, application and all data (iTunes etc). However, I am about to install a 240GB SSD as an additional drive which I intend to use for the only for the OS and applications. I would like my iTunes library files to reside on the new SSD but to leave the data(music, video etc) on the existing 2TB drive and wonder what is the best way to achieve this.
Any help much appreciated.

The details of the answer will depend upon how you intend to have to drives set up. If you're not changing drive structure in any way, try copying the iTunes folder to the SSD but do not copy the media folder. On the SSD start iTunes with the option key held own and guide it to the new location of your library files. I believe (but cannot test this) it will still know to look for the files on the other drive. If it doesn't you will have to take additional steps.
Typically the easiest thing to do is not split library and media files. It gets messy when moving between drives and if all your media is on another drive there's not really much point in having the library files on the main drive with no media. You can just leave it all on the 2TB drive, then start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the library location on the external drive.

Make a backup of your stuff (from the phone. apps/photos/music/blabla). Update your phone. The phone will restore the backup automatically.

I deleted my account as it was showing up with an old Id ( I'd changed my email) but now I've done that it won't give me the option of logging back on. iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

If you are selling or giving away the computer then follow these instructions:
Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
       A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must
           be shut down from inside Windows.
       B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
          1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
          2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
          3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right side.
          4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be sure
              to opt for that.
          Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
          1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
          2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
          3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
          4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
          5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See What to do with iCloud before selling your computer.
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
     A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
          1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
          2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
          3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
              Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
          4. Install OS X.
          5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
          6. Shutdown the computer.
     B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
         Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
                    because it is three times faster than wireless.
          1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
              Utilities window appears.
          2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
          3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list.
              Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
          4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
              and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
          5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
          6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
          7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
          8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License.

Not sure if any of you above have managed to solve your problem or not but after coming across this same problem myself today as I am currently 'sofa bound' I decided to make it my mission to find a way around it.
Initially I did think, having ready what seemed like a million questions and people with the same problem, that the only way was to buy OS X 10.5 ... HOWEVER, no. In among all these threads I found a jewel - Download I Tunes 9.2.1 which gets rid of the download itunes 10 advert and allows you to then buy from itunes again :-) I am now one very happy lady.
I apologise to all those that dont have older versions of OS X that maybe wont support even this upgrade but certainly for those like me with just 4yr old lap tops at least it means it not longer means buying a new one.
Hope this helps son very frustrated people like myself - so much for apple support!
