Hi guys,
Would you be able to give me some business benefits for carrying out break-in work? Is this a legally must and how does this aid the business?
Any supplementary information would be very useful on the logistics business processes and their benefits / reasoning.

Start a new scene at scene break doesnt work

I'm using iMovie HD and when I import footage, a new scene/clip doesn't start up. I've checked and unchecked the prefrence, quit iMovie and I still can't get a new clip to start from where I hit pause record on the camera.

It will work for any new footage shot AFTER you've set the time and date, because the camcorder will then write a new time & date on every new scene.
However, that won't magically fix anything shot BEFORE the time and date were set. So it won't fix old footage, but it'll stop the problem from happening in future.

Can't get breaks to work - Is this tool intuitive??

I've got a fairly simple report that lists company data, 1 per line, and I need to have a page break when the state changes. The report already exists without the state grouping and I don't have a clue how to get this to work. I've added the new group to the data section but can't seem to get it into the layout. Tried frames but can't get one to encompass the other groups/frames. It's always is placed at the same level as the others. I've tried move/send back/front in every conceivable combination. Is there any good documentation to help on this? I've spent days on this and am getting nowhere - and very frustrated. Seems this kind of thing should be a no-brainer for a report writer.

It sounds like you may need to turn off confine mode in order to have the back to front work. If you have Tools->Preferences->Runtime Settings->Run Debug turned off, then any warnings that you might get trying to do this with confine mode turned on might be surpressed.
In general, what I would try doing is turning on flex mode and using the frame select tool to grab the top most repeating frame and everything in it and move it a bit so you have some room to work in. You might also want to zoom in. Then create your new repeating frame so that it's bigger than the old repeating frame but smaller than whatever frame is enclosing it and move it to teh appropriate level. You'll probably have to turn confine mode off to do this. Once you have set at the right level according to the object navigator, you can still use flex mode while moving everything back to the correct place.
For getting the page break, just put a maximum of one record per page in the property palette of the new repeating frame. Hope this helps and it's not just a rehash of the stuff you've tried. I've done this before and it worked for me, so hopefully it will work for you too!

Break.startNew - works in Reader 9 but not Reader 8

Something interesting I discovered that I didn't see on the message board..
I"m using the command:
subform.break.startNew = "1";
in javascript to control whether a subform starts on a new page (1) or not (0). I have a form where in some instances, I want a page break, and in some, I don't.
I discovered that this command works like a charm in Acrobat 8, and Reader 9, but does not work in Reader 8.

Excellent! That was it and it is working for him now.
Sorry if that's a common question, I did several searches before asking.
So... Why isn't that turned on by default? Don't need an answer just kind of seems like an odd default setting...

Acrobat Pro breaks MS work links to company file system.

I am putting together a large PDF technical manual from many individual MS word 2010 documents.
These MS word documents have many links to various places on the internet, company intranet website as well as to the company file system. When I build the initial PDF from all these word documents all the links work just fine. Its only when I upload this PDF to the company website AND the PDF is opened within the browser (IE) do any of the links pointing to files or folder on the company file system break giving me 404 page not found errors.
Now if I refrain from using Acrobat and just save as PDF within MS word and then manually combine the files into the final document these links work just fine after this document is uploaded to the company’s internal website.
If I hover my mouse over these troublesome links I see file:// (path to link) when I save as PDF in word. When I build using acrobat I see nothing when I hover over the links but the link still works until it gets uploaded to the company internal website and the file is viewed within the browser.
Because this manual needs to be viewed by many employees and the default setting in adobe is to open within browser I really need this document to work properly when viewed in the web browser. Using save as PDF in word, then combining 300 + files is going to be tedious if one of you fine people cant point me in a better direction.
Anybody ever encountered anything like this??

Another Update:
The problem already exists in Visio 2002: in fullscreenmode the links are already working incorrecty that is to say non-link-areas of the page are clickable.
I paste a simple dynamic connector on a sheet and make it a link. In fullscreenmode areas around the connector work as clickable links, too, the same for the PDF. So it seems to be a Visio problem only with the Shape "dynamic connector".
Any ideas possibly?

BREAK not working in SQL+ for windows. Works in SQL+ in DOS

I'm writing a simple query in SQL+
SELECT table_name, column_name
FROM user_tab_columns
WHERE table_name like 'MYTAB%'I first set BREAK ON table_name
then I run my query.
I expect the table name to be shown once, per table, not once per column.
If I run this query in SQL+ in a DOS window, that's exactly what happens.
If I run the same thing in SQL+ for Windows (version 10 on an 11g db) the break command appears to be ignored.
Any ideas ??

I'm giving "sendbreak -d 01" form xscf, its not bring my OS to "OK" prompt.
My XSCF version is

Firefox (15) inserts a "Firefox HTML document" in Windows Explorer File New menu. It breaks my works patterns (Alt FWF stops working). Need to disable.

I often use the shortcut Alt FWF to create new directories on Windows.
When FF 15 is set as default it alters the File New menu from Windows Explorer.
It inserts a "Firefox HTML document" item.
This item seems to sabotage the above key combination. It intercepts the last F.
In addition I object to the naming which is plain wrong, for me.
I have deleted the registry key that inserts this thing. Unfortunately it re-appears.
I want to stop this behaviour.
How do I kill this. (Other than by making another browser the default.)

I'm not seeing that on Windows 7 (which I'm sure is no consolation to you).
Since Folder usually is the top item on the new items menu, can you use
<br>Alt+f w Enter
until someone comes up with <s>a better workaround</s> an actual solution?

CSS Page-break-before is not working in FireFox 4 but worked proper in FF3.x

I have web app that produces ~10 page sales estimate. To make things look nice, I have added pagination to my CSS files (using page-break-before:always)... this all worked wonderfully in FireFox 3.x... I recently upgraded to FF4 and now it is not working

I seem to be having a similar problem, however, the first page break is working, but each page break after that is not.
The page break is a div that is a dedicated page break layer and the first clearly works, but the remainder of the 12 page report doesn't have any breaks.
Testing with other browsers shows up 12 pages with breaks which to me indicates a issue with ff4 as I have only recently upgraded to 7 and it used to print under ff3 with all the breaks no problems.

ID 5.0.4: No Break no longer works with en dashes?

Running two ID 5.0.4s on iMacs (Intel); one on OS 10.5.4, the other on OS 10.5.5. Both are exhibiting a bug where the No Break option doesn't work when applied to an en dash (a common house style for typesetting indexes ). Also running ID 5.0.2 and 5.0.3 on other Intel iMacs (both OS 10.5.x), and in these versions the No Break option works correctly.
Has anyone else come across this? Anyone out there able to reproduce with your setup and confirm the bug?
EDIT: Actually, 5.0.3 has the bug as well. 5.0.2 is the last ID version that correctly applies the No Break to en dashes (as well as to em dashes and hyphens, though I can't think of a reason you wouldn't want those to break).

It works again in CS4.

VISA Serial Break does not work

In my application I need to send a BREAK to wake up my instrument. I have tried using VISA SERIAL BREAK but it doesn't work. Interestingly enough that there is another VI under Functions->Instrument I/O->I/O compatibility->Serial Compatibility->Serial Port Break which works. Can anybody tell me how to use VISA SERIAL BREAK or send me a sample of code please?

Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
Some instruments need a serial port break longer than 250ms to wake the instrument (which is the minimum time for the VISA Serial Break.vi). Do you get any error message with the VISA vi? What do you exactly mean by it doesn't work?
What is the VISA version that you have? I hope you have the latest one available from ni.com > Support > Product Reference > Drivers and Updates > Current Versions.

Breaking out of a for-in-a-for-in-a-for

I have a question about how the break statement works. Take this:

}Am I right in saying this will only break out of the very inner for loop? What I want is a way to break out the very inner and second inner for loops, but NOT the outer. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!
