Breaking Down an Image into Tiles- CS3

Hello! It's been a while since I've done anything more complicated than a wavy line in Illustrator, and I have a project in mind that's a little above my head.
I would like to draw an image freehand in PS, import it to Illustrator, and break it down into 5"x5" numbered tiles that I can then print out and reassemble on a large scale. I'm only assuming that Illustrator would be the program to accomplish this in, so if I'm mistaken, please correct me. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I'm sorry if I was unclear. I do not know how to tile an image in any program. For some reason, my version of Adobe Reader will not allow me to tile or scale my image in printing. Even if it did, does Adobe allow you to set the size of the tiles? They need to be 5x5".
The only information I can find on this in my Google searches relates to the slice tool in PS for making webpages. Do you know of somewhere that would explain the "dedicated page tiling options" in Illustrator you mentioned?

Copy/Paste images into Contribute CS3

We have been copying and pasting images from Word Documents
in Office 2003 into Contribute CS3 at my organization when
developing content. We have been able to copy/paste images from
Office 2003 and other programs like Paintshop Pro and SnagIt.
Since upgrade to Microsoft Office 2007 all image copying and
pasting has stopped working.
Is there a known issue with this?
Does anyone else have Office 2007 installed and is able to
copy/paste images from a Word Document into a page in Contribute
CS3?

It appears that the problem only occurs if you are copy and
pasting from something that hasn't been saved yet.
In Word I inserted an image from my hard drive and tried to
copy/paste it into Contribute and that failed. I then saved the
Word Document to my hard drive, re-opened it and was able to
copy/paste fine.
Power Point, Snagit and Pain Shop Pro appear to have the
problem even if it's been saved first.
I was able to copy/paste an image from a Word Doc and
PowerPoint into MSPaint just fine. I was also able to copy/paste
between Office applications with out any problem. Snagit could
copy/paste into Office just fine and MSPaint.
This problem appears to be specific to Contribute CS3 but
only from certain sources.

Want to break down a date into 4 lines in one field

Hi all,
In report 10g , when a date value mask is like 'DY. MON. DD,YYYY' in a field,
it will be display whole date 'Mon. Apr.14,2008' in one line
but in the report i want it shows like below in one field (break in every word, four lines) because the filed honrizontal width is limited

how can i reach this in format trigger, i already use srw.set_value(0, to_char(sysdate))
but doesn't work.

It was just an example. Use chr(10) for carriage return, whereever it is needed.

Breaking down SQL table into Multiple tables on the web using struts

I have a SQL table with business names and products. I am trying to display tables on a webpage for each individual business and their products. So one table is for each business and each business table lists all the products for that business. I'm not really sure how to do this. I sorted by the business names so all the related records are next to each other. I did try two nested iterate statements but received an error about missing a getter. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am writing this code in a JSP file and can use most struts commands (bean, html, nested commands). Sorry if this topics isn't very related to JSP but couldn't really find a better spot.Thanks

Opening multiple images in Photoshop CS3 windows

I can open an image just fine in Photoshop CS3 by going file-open and clicking on the file, I then want to bring in another image into Photoshop CS3 by using file-open which I can do but then the first image disappears and only the second image is in Photoshop. Any ideas?

How do I place a large format image into Illustrator

I am trying to place a large format image that I created in Photoshop into Illustrator. I have tried PSD, TIFF, and JPG. I have even cropped down the image into smaller portions to try to make it easier to work with. Every time I try to Place the image I get a dialogue box saying,"The file 'Water 1.jpg' is in an unknown format and cannot be opened.' Can anyone help with this?

I would guess the file is simply too big. Make sure the document is in RGB mode. If I were you, I would never submit a file that size at 300ppi for large format. Large or grand format printers only need around 100 to 144ppi at 100% final size. Also, set the Illustrator file up at 25% scale and place the image at 25% @ 300ppi ( image resolution ends up around 75ppi which is still plenty when enlarged 400% to final size ). Getting back to the original error message, it could be the system is running out of both RAM and scratch disk space and cannot deal with the preview required. Better to scale the file down for large format.

Image size PS CS3

I have 2 cameras a Fuji S2 and Nikon D300. The Fuji images out of the camera are 10 mgs. The Nikon 12mgs. When I bring the Nikon images into PS CS3 the image size is 34.9 pixel dimension at 300 res. The remains this size but the res. is 72. This cannot be right. The Fuji images are smaller than the Nikon. Shouldn't the image size reflect what the image size actually is?

Basically, you answer will be that some cameras' files will show different PPI dimensions. If you set this to the same, for each camera's output, you'll clearly see the difference in the megapixels, that you expect.

It's very difficult to say without knowing more about your system. There are a number of possibilities. First, your 13" lacks a discrete GPU, so the CPU is doing the work that a GPU would have done as far as decoding video streams, etc. Each video stream will consume considerable resources from the machine, and if you have multiple things running with video streams being decoded (for example, a browser with video Flash or cumbersome animation and iMovie running at the same time), then that may be a factor.
Additionally, it could be that you are memory constrained. You didn't post a picture of the process list from activity monitor or the memory usage stats, but you probably want to look and see what the memory and CPU usage is and who's consuming what. Some applications are pretty inefficient. For example, if you have iPhoto open and have thousands of images, the indexed metadata and thumbnails are all stored in RAM. iMovie pulls in clip thumbnail sets - (and worse, it has to do on-the-fly transcoding video assets from some cameras that don't encode the video using the parameters it expects to make indexing frames easier). Again, this would show up as periodic spikes in CPU activity for the app.
You seem to have plenty of disk space, that's not likely to be a problem.
Check if Time Machine is running. Time Machine introduces a performance impact, but it's exacerbated by the presence of frequently changed large files (e.g., you don't want Time Machine backing up your video projects while you are working on them).
Lastly, you may consider checking the console for error messages. This might reveal background processes that might be bogging down the system, or things like filesystem/disk errors. If there are errors in the filesystem, when you access certain portions of the disk, the OS and applications can slow down or lock-up as a result.

How to break the PDF file into images?

How to break the PDF file into images? There should be settings in Photoshop CS 6 that imports PDF file and break it into images. I have a short instruction:
2.    Open the file in Photoshop.
3.    A new window should open to Import PDF. Click on images, not pages import pdf into Photoshop.doc
4.    Select all the files shown (shift + click), Click O.K. Four files should open on your screen.
Was anybody successful with that?

Whether this is available solely depends on the structure of the PDF and whether it actually contains whole images that can be extracted separately. Depending on whatgoing on in the PDF this may simply not be the case and the images have been tiled and split up in multiple "objects" whose appearance can only be retained by rasrerizing the whole page...

InDesign CS3 Scripting XML Import Multiple Images into same Text Frame

I am having trouble importing multiple images into the same Text Frame using XML import. I imported 5 images into the text frame. However, all 5 images are laying on top of one another. Does anyone know if there is a way to have all images laying out like how Microsoft Word handles inline images, i.e., laying out next image to the right of previsous image in the same line and if there is not enough space left in the line, then wrap to next line. Thanks in advance. I understand I could use JavaScript to do post import processing, e.g, calculate the image size and place each images accordingly. But I am trying to see whether there is a way to do this without scripts.

You can apply an object style to all anchored images by script. A text frame containing main flow should be selected.

However, there is a better approach:
Step 1
Create place holders for a single "Book" element and format it as needed -- apply an object style to the cover.
Step 2
Import the xml file -- the placeholders are replaced with data from the 1st xml element
Step 3
Drag & drop the element containing all "Books" elements into the main flow -- all elements are placed and formatted the same way as in step 1.
Finally, add a new page, click the overset text icon and autoflow text to add pages so that to fit all the text.

Loading an image into CS3 from Lightroom

Sorry to repeat this request but:
I am running Lightroom on a laptop with Windows Vista. If I make changes to an image in the develop module of Lightroom, and then right click on the image, go to Edit in CS3, and Edit a Copy with Lightroom adjustments, CS3 boots up but no image appears within CS3.
I did have both CS2 and CS3 on my hard drive. I removed CS2 with no benefit. I removed Lightroom, and re-installed a purchased version but still the same problem. Edit - Preferences - External Editing shows Edit in Photoshop CS3 and Additional External Editor Photoshop.exe. Trying this latter option to open the image in CS3 also fails.
Any ideas??

I could be snarky and say change the image in a different version of Photoshop, but NO...
The only way to make a photo that is one size into another size is to change the image. You have a few choices about how to change it:
One way is to simply expand the height from 6.6 to 8 inches using Image>Canvas Size, using the default setting of having the image centered and leaving the background either black or white, your preference. This will add background color to the top and bottom of your image. This won't change the image itself, but it will change its surroundings.
Another way is to resize the image using Image>Image Size, entering the new dimensions after turning off the aspect ratio lock (resample on). This will stretch the image vertically, however, so it's probably not a good option.
Finally, you could resize the image using Image>Image Size, leaving the aspect ratio lock on and resample on, and increase the height from 6.6 to 8. This will have the secondary effect of enlarging the width from 10" to a greater width. Then you crop the resulting image back down to 10" width, which involves losing some edge areas of the image.

Photoshop CC: Have a template that I moved image into. Image is too small. How do I resize the image while in the template? Or must I go to original image file and resize there again and again until I get the right fit?

I have a template that I am able to plug different pictures into at different times. The problem is that when I plug an image into that template, I find that the image is either too big or too small. Is there a way to plug the image into the template and resize the image (and not the template itself) OR will I have to go to the file with the original image and resize it there and then try to plug it in to the template to see if it fits------and if it does not fit, go back to the original file with the image and resize it again and see if that fits---and so on and so on...........? I have tried the" image size" option but it's hit or miss------mostly miss!

Read up on Smart Objects. It looks like you have no idea as to how to create and use them.
Jut create a Smart Object from the layer containing whatever it image it is that you are "plugging into your template". But you do need to learn the application at its most basic levels.
Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve. You cannot learn Photoshop in a forum, one question at a time.
Or is it possible that you don't even have Photoshop proper but the stripped-down Photoshop Elements?"

I'm sure this is something that's been covered in another post (or even in the help portal) but I think my wording in my search terms are not correct or... I don't know, because I just can't find what I'm looking for.
I want to know how to add multiple images into one file/one image, both horizontally and/or vertically. To give you an idea of what I mean, check out :
