Breathing light / Notification light

Had the phone delivered this morning, set up the email account, push email works fine with Yahoo.com (but not with BtInternet.com, but Nokia promises a FW fix).
Puzzling thing is, the Notification light does not come on, although the Breathing light does, which shows as a very faint, barely discernible indication of a new email or missed call.
Is this supposed to work this way, or should I send the unit back? Everything is set up correctly in Menu > Settings > Phone > Notification lights > ON

Mailbox in messaging folder: this is how i setup that :
Menu >messaging >mailbox(no mailbox defined,define now?)clicked yes>opens email setup >{entered mail details ie account, password}>options come up (add to nokia messaging account? Or manual delivery?)>clicked manual delivery >(mailbox setup in messaging folder).
Now i enter the messaging folder again >mailbox(gmail.com)>open >(connect to mailbox?) yes >this way delivers messages manually.
Further if i exit the messaging folder a message pops up "exiting will disconnect active mailbox connection. Exit anyway?">>>if i click yes there'll be no active connection so i'll not get any email until connected again and hence no notification.
>>>if i click no , connection will remain active but i'll not be able to exit messaging folder and i'll get notifications for emails.

Nokia N8 Breathing Light Not Working PR1.1

Many of my co-N8ers on a forum said that after updating to PR1.1 (013.016) the breathing light is not working anymore even though it is turned ON in the settings. When I tried it on my N8, I can confirm that it is not wotking!
Can anyone try and confirm this one?

@kichIf it is the same error as my N8, then I'm afraid it's a hardware failure. The notification LED has been missing for almost a year on mine. I just finished the spring cleanup, starting with a 3-button (very) hard reset and loading the latest Belle Refresh with the Nokia Software Recovery Tool. This made no change to the LED's.
Symptoms:
* Breathing light not working
* Notification light for SMS and missed calls not working
* Charge indicator LED not working during charge - but it blinks 5 times when the shut down phone is connected to a charger
A diagnostics software list the error as: ST_LED_CONTROLLER_TEST No Minor [ 10 ]
The phone is otherwise healthy and stable so I don't worry too much about the missing LED's.
If it must develop an error while it gets older, this is not so bad...

After Updating Software breathing light not blinki...

Afte upadating new anna my breathing light is not blinking it's already on. How to settle this problem
And also the original theme is fantastic. The new theme icons no colourfull , need please update colour full theme or how to get original theme.

Check the settings for breathing light,also ive uploaded the theme you can find it in the search bar.

N8 (and C7): charging light and breathing light is...

Isn't my issue (my charging light and breathing light - if no scrensaver is set - work as before) but some N8 and C7 user state that after upgrading to 1.1, the charging light has stopped staying on during charge (just lights up when plugging tha adapter and then switches off, but the charging battery icon progress regularly) end that the breathing light simply stopped working in any screensaver setting (either on or off).
Just to report to them, any of you had the same issue and eventualy solved it?

Yes, I know and it's so in my N8 too, but those state that it has stopped breathing in when screensaver set to off as well

E71 and its breathing light

Is mine sick. When it breaths, the calendar shortcut also lights up. I am finding it annoying, particulary when my calendar is absolutely empty. Is it a bug in the firmware or a hardware error?

When you did a soft reset, your phone usually asks you for a security code, which by default is 12345. Use the code you used for this and it should unlock. If you have forgotten this, you will need to bring it to a local Nokia Care point with a proof of purchase to have it unlocked.

E51 notification light keeps blinking

Hi, I have a E51 phone. The problem is that the notification light will not stop blinking as long as the phone is on, even if there is no sim inside and the notification light blinking is disabled. It blinks at iregular but very short intervals. Has someone encoutered this problem before?

try removing battery for ten minutes

Nokia E5 "Breathing" Scroll Key Light

I seem to be having a software problem with my E5. When you do not use the device for a certain period of time, the scroll key starts blinking slowly as if it was breathing. To turn the breathing light on or off, select Standby br.light > Breathing light. Thing is, when I get to "Notification Lights", I have only one option: "Notification Light". The "Standby light" isn't there. Any ideas?

Notification light keeps flashing

I've a Nokia N8 and recently the notification light keeps flashing even though i have no messages or missed calls. It only flashes when i lock it and it's not the same flash as a message notification it's more softer. Anyone know how i can stop it or have any ideas why it's flashing?

In the notification settings turn standby breathing light off,this is just to let yet know your phone is on.

Notification Light on E71

I have a E71 and the notification light is always on breathing light. I have no emails, sms, mms, misscalls or voice messages. I even turn off the notification light off for everything and is still breathing. It is kind of annoying not to know why is breathing.

Hi, regarding the issue of what consumes more battery, if the breathing light or the digital clock. I did some research with Nokia Energy Profiler and I got some news. Even though the digital clock uses a little bit more CPU, the battery consumes faster with the breathing light. I hope this file helps you see the difference in the graphics (change to extension xls).

N96 V30.033 Status Light flash

Hi there, I wonder if someone could help me, since the V30 upgrade of the firmware to the N96, the "breathing light" has been renamed to "status light" but it doesn't "double flash" when there is a new notification like a text message or missed call. Is there any way of reinabling this? also I've noticed that the options seem to be inverted. If i click on the status option to toggle on and off that's fine, but if it's set to off, and I choose menu then change, in bring a little table up where you can choose on or off, but when it's set to on, the radio button is in the off selection and vista versa, could this be another bug?

hmm it could be possilbe that it is in two parts now and you could also have the notification light option and events that you want your phone to notify you of. i am not sure tho as i do not have this particular phone

Indicator light failure on G3 iBook after security update

I use a G3 iBook as second choice for occasional work. Last night after installing the latest Tiger security update I noticed that the indicator light at the front of the book no longer functions. When I put the iBook to sleep I saw there was no little breathing light that's usually going in and out.
Is this inevitably a hardware malfunction or could there be something in the system that might be causing this?

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)

4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.

Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.

701 screen backlight and charge light brightness

Good day all, I would like to know if there is any way to get the backlight and the battery charging light to turn off. I leave my phone charging at night but the battery charging light (the light next to the USB jack) is way too bright. I have found no way to turn it off. Also with the phone screensaver on, the screen is still fairly bright also and apart from tunring off the screensaver is there another way to dim the backlight? Thanks!

To turn off the breathing light ( It will be on while charging )
Settings > Phone > Notifiation lights > Standby breathing light > On/Off
To reduce brightness
Phone > Display > Brightness. Drag the sider to zero.
Light time out > 5 seconds
Use a dark wall paper

Blutooth Light (Left bottom of B540P) Never Goes off

Just got the set of B540P last weekend with Windows 8 MM OS. I found that it is very strange that the bluetooth indicative light was also switched on. Even I have no BT connection or even I have disable the BT in network adapter, the light is still on at the left hand bottom of the monitor. End up I am confused whether I have switched on or off of BT.
This is very different for Wifi light. If I enable the Wifi function in the network adapter setting, the light will on. If I disable it, it will go off.
So, is this BT issue common for all Lenovo B540P i7 or driver problem (I have reinstall and update the driver, it is still the same) or some board problem? I have checked with my local vendor and apparently, some of the unit also behave in this manner for the BT.

If your referring to the light around the menu button that is the breathing light and depending on your settings should be off unless specified or whatever,
if your referrign to the light on the side of the phone (above the USB port) this light indicates thzt the phone is charging and should always be on as long as your phone is plugged into the charger or computer

E 71 - navigation button light blinks every 5 seco...

Is it a bug or a feature? The center light around the five way navigation button goes on every 5 seconds. Is this normal? Can I stop it?

of course you can ! the feature is called "breathing light"
menu > tools > options > modes => when you personalize your mode you have an option called "breathing light" or something like that (my phone is in french sorry !). it is the 9th option of the list, just after "vibrate".

N97 screen not lighting up when message recieved, ...

i have a debranded n97 unlocked, latest firmware v20.0.019, and i don't know whats happened,
i basically have disabled the auto key lock, and i used a security lock after 1 minute, 20 seconds my light goes out,
anyway after a couple of minutes, if i get a text my breather light comes on only (which is normal) however the main backlight does not come on, it used to do this before, what is the problem? ive not got any apps on my phone either, i use the phone memory for everyhting, contacts, messages, etc. i have 2 email accounts + 400 messages in my main inbox,
i dont know why the main backlight wont light when i get a message, this is doign my head in as sometimes i keep my phone on my desk and the lighting up of the backlight makes me notice the phone has a message, i cant keep on going on like this, anyone know why this is or am i going to have to do a f/w wipe and update again?
can someone please test this ?? im using no third party sw either

Unfortunately, I'm facing the same problem with my N97 using firmware v20.0.19.
Any reset, hard or soft, did not solve the problem.. It's a new bug..
