BREW LG Dare (9700)

hi all. this is my first post. I have been developing in
Flash for a long time now, and am brand new to the mobile device
realm. I recently purchased the LG Dare and was stoked to find out
it supported flash through the brew platform. But then quickly
discouraged to find out that it will cost me $400 a year to have
access to the Brew Tools suite. Also discouraged by he fact the in
Flash Lite CS3 the LG 9700 is not available.. infact all the LG
phones are grey out in the emulator.
Wondering if anyone might be able to steer me in the right
direction for testing / installing my flash lite apps on my LG Dare
with out this BREW Tools Suite. I don't know what i am doing yet,
just playing around, so its really not worth me coughing up all the
mula to get started. Also, is there a device update coming out
soon, for the LG Dare?
Erik

I know this is an old thread but Figured i would put in some answers to some of the questions talked about here for future visitors and I was hoping to get some answers of my own..
LG Dare vx9700 GPS.... VZW has this locked up and only VZ Nav can use the GPS on this phone..
At this current Time You do not need to spend any money for making apps for the phone if you use swf files and replace the wallpaper or tools that are already in the phone.. But if you want to use Mod files you have to pay the fees in order to get access to the test sig which are only good for a year and if you want a sig file that does not exp then you have to pay to have your app true brew tested as well along with paying for the sig file..
The Dare has code issues when it comes to using the flash content for wallpaper.. For some reason the code that is running when the phone is in normal state does not allow all apps to update in a timely manor. But if the phone is running in charge mode or if you keep touching the screen or keys the flash wallpaper updates and animation looks correct..
My question is How do i code the flash content to minic me touching the screen or keys in order to get the animation running smoothly?
Also I still have not found good documention on how to program icons with in the flash content to activate/run other Brew apps. Any help would be Great.
One other Thing.. I have not yet had any success with getting the MOD files to work on this phone.. any one know why?
Best Regards

  • Premium Multimedia Headset & 9700 - Call issue

    Hi all,
I really LOVE these headphones for the quality of music reproduction!
Unfortunately with my 2wk old BB Bold 9700 I'm unable to make or receive calls using it. The headset seems to give off a slight, weird static or signal feedback which is not often and very faint but enough for me to hear. I normally carry my phones inside my front jeans or trouser pocket face towards my leg. The sound is most likely caused by the jack being slightly bent.
However even in my hand with the headset connected, incoming calls do not sound in the headset (Normal profile non-augmented/customed other than the ringtone which is on the MicroSD inside my 9700). Another thing I noticed is the curved sides of the 9700 do not allow a flush connection with the headsets. Sure the click home to the Bold, but if you look from the backside of the 9700 right at the 3.5mm headset jack there is a slight non-flush connection edge to these or any other headset.
RIM's site for 9700 Accessories list the as compatible with the Premium Multimedia Headset. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Also note that I've used OS 5.0.0.351 & original .344 my provider pre-installed (Telus Mobility).

While knottyrope is going to test to see if what you want is what you can get, I do not recall any cellphone/headset combination throughout the years that I have had that plays the ringtone through the headset.
I have had vanilla low dollar barebone cells workiing up through:
Razr V3M, Rokr K1M, LG Dare to my current Storm with an odd ball here and there thrown in for good measure..  I have had wired headsets (admittedly only low dollar as I hate wires as a matter of principle).  I currently have the following Bluetooth headsets:
Aliph Jawbone, Cardo Scala 500, Plantronics 815, Motorola H500, MotoRokr S9, Jabra BT250v and finally a Motorola Endeavor HX1.  It sounds like a lot of Bluetooth headsets but 20 plus years of cannon fire have done a number on my ears and I have to switch out headsets frequently due to sensitivity.  No combination of headsets gave me the incoming calls ringtone to the headset.
I have had to tinker to get various vibrate than ring, ring and than vibrate and ring and vibrate profiles. I frequented various hacking forums in order to accomplish that much with some of the units.   Each phone and carrier had their own protocols.
I have with multi media devices  used them as mp3 players and the best I get is a pause in the playback while the call comes in.  I have never had the tone come through the headset itself.
RIM might be different but I would very much be surprised as I don't get that with any of my headsets on my Storm.

  • ISE 1.2.0.899 patch 1,2,3,4 with blackberry 9700

Hi, I'm using ISE 1.2.0.899 patch 1,2,3,4, and I am trying to use guest portal on blackberry 9700.
I verified that I am able to do 802.1x with blackberry.
I associated to ssid, and opened web browser, and I can see the guest portal.
However, when I clicked on "don't have account?" to creating guest ID, I could not go any further.
does anyone know if it's supported or not ? if it's working or not ?
I know in the network compatibility document for 1.2, there is no mention about blackberry.
does anyone know about this ?

Saurav Lodh, I did check the default time profile that is being used the sponsor. I even created a custom time profile to rule out any timeout on the Guest account, but even with the custom profile time the Guest account times out between 7 to 10 minutes and asks to re-authenticate again. I don't know if there is another place to look out for any timeouts, or is it maybe a bug with this version of ISE, but I couldn't find anybody else having this same issue which makes me think that it has to be a setting that is causing this problem.

  • RESOLUTION: GNB MAX and Radeon 9700 Crashes

I had various lock-ups, crashes and "Windows detected and recovered from a device failure" error messages with my GNB MAX motherboard and Radeon 9700 and they are now fixed.
I was able to receive a beta version of an upcoming set of drivers from ATI and they did the trick!!
Just wanted to give you all some hope.
    Hang in there!

Oops, I spoke too soon.  I think FastWrites is on (I remember turning it off before on previous drivers and noticing a big slow down that is not present now) but there isn't a SmartGart tab appearing in my ATI control panel any more.  I checked Advanced - Options - Details and yes, 8X is on.
How can I verify that FastWrites is on without the SmartGart tab?

  • NEW Information with 9700 issue

I have been following the issues with the 9700 pro cards for some time now. I have read all the threads on this board and seen no fixes yet that work. I HATE to say it but everyone is barking up the wrong trees for this problem. As you read this and check your own system I'm sure that you will come to the same irritating answer that I have. I purchased my first ATI Built 9700 pro at first release in the stores. After installing I experienced distorted graphics and lock-ups. I then started hunting for a fix. Tried all the bios flashes, drivers and VIA 4in1's. all came up with the same result so I called ATI they said that it might be the card so I went back to the store and got another ATI built 9700 pro card and yet had the same issues. Then I go and get Gigabytes MAYA 9700 pro card. Now there is no more distorted graphics (NOTE to ATI you may have something that you can learn from Gigabyte) but I still get lock ups. So then I hunt down drivers and bios flashes from Omega which has been modifying drivers as long as I can remember. They did not work either. I also tried different motherboards and no change. So I conclude that VIA, MSI and ATI are not at fault for this problem. Although with this info may be able to come up with a solution.
Now I start digging hard into my system and OS yet to find the real blame. I found that my agp and sound are sharing the same IRQ. Now wether you know it or not you cannot change IRQ settings with XP. So I disable my sound and retest and get outrageous results. My frame rates increased and benchmarks raised by almost half. Numbers that were not even achieved in ATI's tests. So then I install a different sound card and it put it on IRQ11 and moved AGP IRQ form 16 to IRQ11. BACK TO SAME PROBLEM. I have alot of free IRQs and also have disabled coms which open IRQ 3 and 4 also but do you think XP would change settings so they didn't share. NOOOOTTTTTTT!!!!! I did try the same system but with windows ME so I could set the IRQs myself and with having nothing sharing the same IRQ it worked GREAT!! The only option I see at this time is to re-install windows and disable the acpi which is the culpret behind all this and run standard PC HAL which means no more power control for ATX motherboards "THANKS BILL". No matter how you try XP wants to share AGP slot with a PCI slot. Now with my ATI 8500 it shares with sound but no problems but you have to remember that the 9700 is a new creature that performs like never before and I'm sure with the demand that it puts on the system anything else on the same IRQ will get lost or corrupt packets resulting in a system lock up. At the bottom I will provide a link to a bulletin by MS that discibes the way and also why XP handles the IRQs the way it does.
I would like you to try the same as I have and remove anything sharing the same IRQ as the 9700 pro and see if you get the same results as I have. I have tested 3 cards and four MBs and refuse to try any more products just to come to the same answer. I think you will all come to the same conclusion that I have. "Kill Bill".
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q252420&ID=KB;EN-US;Q252420

I was having the same problem with the 9700 pro on the KT400. was getting lockups and freezing everytime i tried to run a 3d game or benchmark. (solitaire ran sweet though). Even went as far as to buy a new mobo the a7n8x with nforce 2 chipset...low and behold the card worked fine...pity the board lasted about 2 hours then i had to send it back cos it was shafted...no post no nothing...ay well...
so i went back to my MSI kt4 ultra i tried so many combinations i was going blind but i think i finally found a combination that works....well for me anyway
    im using
    Catalyst 2.5
    ControlPanel 6.13.10.6218
    Via 4.45 hyperion
Fast write disabled in smartgart but enabled in bios dont ask me why but it works like that...i know it doest overwrite it but it works. also try this one. type smartgart into the run dialog, you get a new window not accesible through normal display properties. for some reason installing the catalyst drivers sometimes disables agp write and agp read which you can see here. click retest all then reboot smartgart will popup as soon as you reboot to let you know what the settings are now.
now its running sweet as a nut
    getting 3DMark
    13930 running normal
    15928 overclocked FSB
not ruling out the fact that shared IRQ's maybe at fault but mine is still shared with my nic and not causing any problems.
like i said it worked for me.. just thought id let you know

  • Problems with KT4V and AtiRadeon 9700 Pro...

    Hi all,
I have lots of problems with my current configuration with games (lock ups) and even in normal use. Also I'm not able to run 3DMark through to see with kind of results would I get. Car chase (high) gets very low fps and the nature test doesn't even work. I have tried different 4in1 drivers and BIOS versions. With 1.6 BIOS version I had lots of CRC errors (should be corrected in BIOS ver. 1.7 but in expense of data rate?).  Does anyone have any suggestions so that I could for example go through the 3DMark even with the expense of performance?
I had those game lock up problems also earlier with KT7A-100 RAID + AtiRadeon 64 (3DMark worked) so I bought new graphic card (didn't help) and after that I bought the new mobo. I know my config is not the best in the world, but I think it should be enough to give some happy moments in ever so demanding games... for a while...
There is also one thing that is quite strange. In my display adapters there is two drivers for AtiRadeon (primary in AGP and secondary in PCI)? I'm not expert, but isn't that weird? I have tried installing different drivers again and again (also reinstalled OS) with no luck! Trying to delete the secondary one doesn't help...
    Help..........!
    My specs:
    MSI KT4V (MS-6712)  4in1 Hyperion 4.45, BIOS ver 1.0

    SAMSUNG 40 GB (5400 RPM)
    SAMSUNG DVD
    ATIRADEON 9700 Pro (Club 3D)  Catalyst 3.0
    Soundblaster Live!

the 9700 is the most powerfull vga to date and needs power evan more than a gf4 4600
i would lbe looking at some think like an antec true powe 430 watt psu not a basic 300 watter
with ati,s own cards you need revision 1.3 as well best i can recall, but yours is an oem so im not sure
a search for 9700 in this section will get you lots of threads

that is suggesting to me either your PSU is failing, or it is a Poor PSU with over-optimistic amp ratings (eg Q-Tec). it will all appear to work fine on your older board, as that has lower power requirements, have a look in my sticky Is your problem caused by your PSU? for more info and advice.

How do I enter music from MacBook to 2 GB memory card in my LG Dare? I formatted the SanDisk memory card to the phone and connected phone to MacBook. How do I get music from iTunes on my MacBook to disk on my Dare?

Look in the Finder's sidebar or on the desktop. If the manufacturer only allows its own software to connect to the card, consult its documentation.

    Tanya --
Next time you have a question, don't start off with a dare.  It's very off-putting.  And tends to make people mad.
    That said --
Your App Store app should be in your main Applications folder, i.e.,
Hard Drive > Applications folder > App Store.
    Yours is here:
Hard Drive >Users > YourName > Applications Folder > App Store.
It automatically installs in the HD>Apps folder, so I think somebody moved it.
Fix that, and then we'll see if you still have problems, OK?

  • Any hope for syncing a "LG Dare" (Verizon)

Well as i'm sure many of you have seen the new "3G iPhone Competitor" will be released on verizon this week. any hope for syncing with iCal and or Contacts?
Please don't rip on me for this I just cannot afford a plan on ATT.

This is great... I got my music on my dare even under the "My Music" Folder on the phone using the method above (Bluetooth Exchange)....
    one problem...
theres no way to get it off after you do that.... if you try to delete songs off your phone via Bluetooth Exchange it says "Last Operation Failed Bad Request..."
and of course theres no way to delete them from the phone... that would be too simple (thanks LG)
and since I have a mac....
i cant use the verizon sync program to get them off...
so for now i only have 4 songs on my Dare... but they are on my internal memory... perhaps... eternally.
Please reply if you have any advice...
    maybe i missed something ...

  • Problem in Bold 9700 after upgrade to OS 6.0.0.448

I recently upgraded my Bold 9700 to new OS i.e. 6.0.0.448 .Overall the Os is perfectly fine, but one day later I found the problem which is a major and serious issue. The network is not working properly. I called up my service provider and they told me that in network connection options there should be 3 options "2G" / "3G" and "2G/3G" but i could not see any "2G" only options, which is the reason for the problem.
I am having the phone on which i can not make any communications . plesae help..
    thnx in advance

Do not forget to backup your device if possible, but with restore be careful, restore only needed information AddBook SMS Messages, but for no any case Options or etc...
BBSAK (if needed) - BBSAK web page
Desktop manager - from here Desktop Manager (choose 5 or 6 version)
Operating system (firmware) - for official OS From Rogers
for leaked (non-official) download from Leaked OS 6.0.0.499 for the BlackBerry 9700
    1.Download and install BBSAK
2.Connect your device to PC (do not run BM)
3.in BBSAK programm click on "Wipe device" it will be fully wiped, device will be restarted and there are will be white screen with "Error 507"
4.click on BBSAK program "Load OS" and choose OS which you download and install to your PC (also delete vendor file ) click OK and wait, it maybe up to 45-60 min. must work.
    TMOBILE BRANDED PHONES ONLY
After the install update file do the steps below (NOTE: only applies to Tmobile branded phones)
    C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/Shared/Loader Files/9700M_OS6/Java  then locate and delete;
    1.net_rim_theme_tmobile_BlackBerry6_480x360_b.cod
    2.net_rim_theme_tmobileeu_BlackBerry6_480x360_b.cod
    STEP 2:
    Go To
C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/Application loader and delete the vendor.xml or simply vendor file.
    STEP 3:
Plug your phone in via usb and in command promt make current loacation to C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/Application loader, type the loader.exe /NOJVM (might show up as app loader.exe) and complete the install and voila. You should now have OS6 running (DO NOT USE DESKTOP MANAGER)

  • Graphics render bug in FCP 6 and 7 - Dare to prove me wrong?

I have an issue with an HD video that contains red and purple text and graphics in the edit. I've looked for an answer tirelessly online, with friends, and through trial and error for a good 7 hours before giving up. Here's the deal,
Sequence settings: HD 1440x1080 16:9, 23.98, HDV 1080p24 for editing the canon7d footage that came in - this however doesn't matter because i tested with every setting imaginable including animation raw and ended up with the same results for the graphics problem I'm having (kind of unrelated to the actual footage).
I need to output this 9 minute edit I have to an HD file 1280x720 for youtube upload. So, it has to be under 2gb (youtube's limit) but for client purposes, it needs to be crisp and great looking as you would imagine.
I have a bunch of PSDs, each show a different line drawing of a brush. For each one, the line is a different color. For any of the colors that aren't red or purple, they render crisp and wonderful in final cut pro over top the video. However, the graphics that have the lines that are red or purple, come out pixelated and blurry no matter how i try to render them. The only solution that worked was to render and output them with the animation codec. ProRes HQ worked too but not as well. However, this makes a file way too big. Whenever I went from animation to h264 or from FCP to h264, or any other web friendly format, graphics come out way pixelated. It makes me frustrated as to why all the graphics that were exactly the same except not red or purple came out perfectly crisp. Also, why is animation codec the only codec out there (besides uncompressed obviously) that will create clean edges in these red/purple graphics?
Conclusion: Found that reds and purples are the only colors that seem to be effected when rendering the graphics. Everything else comes out nicely. Animation and pro res codecs aside, any codec making the video small enough for the web (less than 2gb) resulted in the problem of pixelation with the red and purple graphics. Based on extensive research I did online, I was surprised not to find many people posting about the exact same problem. For the issues I did find that seemed related, people concurred that HD nor regular DV video do a good job rendering bright reds or variations of red. Because I found no solutions online or from all the things I tried in the list below
-re-rendered the PSD's in Final cut pro with variation of sequence setting to see if that would make any difference - it didn't. Tried all kinds of different settings in export for h264, keyframes, max quality, etc. no luck.
-tried rendering to "Animation/uncompressed" as far through the process as possible. For instance, I outputted a perfectly crisp "Animation" file that was perfect looking. As soon as I re-exported to h264, mpeg4, or sorenson, or any other codec dropping the file size down, all results returned pixelated results for the reds and purple graphics.
-made sure photoshop settings were all good, even copied and pasted psd into new 1920x1080 project, played with DPI up to 300 to see if it did anything, saved as different formats TIFF, png, eps, layers, flattened, 8-bit, 24-bit, 36-bit, etc., none of the formats worked correctly.
-outputted my own purple and red graphics and text and rendered in final cut to see if the file had anything to do with it. same problem with my red and purple graphics and text.
-Tried adding slight moving grain to the graphic in Final cut to try and trick FCP to thinking it was a video instead of a graphic and therefore render it smoothly.
-consulted with 2 other video editors/media experts, ended up frustrating them as well (and hurting their ego a little since they were sure they could figure it out)
-Ran the shot and graphic through after effects and premiere pro separately (different video programs) to see if final cut pro was causing the problem, same problem with those programs.
-tried rendering on a different mac, still the same.
-Actually upgraded my final cut pro version to the new version (now Final cut studio 3). Ran tests on new version of final cut pro, same exact problem.
-added black edge to purple graphics to see if that did anything different to the rendering. Didn't help
-Changed the hue of the graphic to anything other than red or purple. Wouldn't you know...That fixed it.
Here is a link to the Animation Output of a half second of the edit with a sample red graphic crisp as can be for you to test (12.7mb) -
    http://www.robinsonhope.com/downloads/makeup_animationtest.zip
Here is a link to view screenshots before and after to show you what rendering does to the graphics.
    http://www.robinsonhope.com/downloads/makeup_ss.jpg
In case you'd like to try and find a solution, please download the link to the HD animation half-second clip and output to h264 or any other web friendly codec that would show these red graphics clean and not blurry and pixelated. Other rule is after doing the math, a 9 minute video with the compression you choose would need to be under 2gb. This shouldn't be too much of a problem because even a 1280x720 h264 at max quality for a 9min video is still under 2gb.
The first person to show me that you are truly a FCP guru and can solve this, post a link of your successful solution, I will praise you as genius all over this forum. I will also be eternally grateful. Live in LA? I'll also buy you dinner, Haha. But seriously...

    Welcome to this forum,
Sorry to hear you so struggling with this issue.
And I doubt whether I can solve this for you, but I can say a few things.
The title of this thread is:
Graphics render bug in FCP 6 and 7 - Dare to prove me wrong?
I'll prove you are wrong. Or actually you've already proved yourself wrong in your post:
-Ran the shot and graphic through after effects and premiere pro separately (different video programs) to see if final cut pro was causing the problem, same problem with those programs.
Seams that I try to annoy you, but I'm not. It's not a joke. The fact that other applications can't handle it as well AND the fact that Animation Codec (Which is pretty lostless) does not have this problem, tells you that the problem is likely the low compression you want OR the footage itself. And I dare say it's BOTH.
I downloaded your testfile and have opened it in FCP and I can see in the Vectorscope that your color Red is too hot.
[Click here|http://i843.photobucket.com/albums/zz356/rienkL/Screenshot2010-04-02at1324 20.png] to see the vectorscope of your picture?
You also see the small boxes (clockwise)
Red, Magenta, Blue, Cyan, Green, Yellow. The signal of your picture should stay somewhere between those boxes. You should read [this article|http://www.larryjordan.biz/articles/lj_scopes.html] (two third on the page) about the vectorscope. Also has a picture with the range to be broadcast safe.
So back to your picture and your vectorscope. You'll see that just along the right side of the R in the vectorscope there's a peak which goes way out of the range. And that's exactly the color of your graphic.
I tried isolating that color, reducing the saturation, and then do an export, but that failed. You should adjust that within the PSD's first and then see how exporting goes.
So now you are thinking: My client wants his own colors! Sure he does. But those colors were probably designed for print, which does have another colorrange. Simple technical story. You're bound to specific saturation. Going over that means troubles....
And I'm not claiming that your problem will be solved when you adjust this. It is still possible that h264 just doesn't like red too much. Maybe that's on purpose. Our eyes are most less sensitive to red, so that gives the compressor some extra room to compress in the reds (Don't know if this is what compression developers do; just thinking out loud, just an idea...)
Hope this helps at least a little.

  • Sync on desktop manager won't start with new 9700

I am attaching my 9700, with a USB cable, to my laptop. The Desktop Manager software opens but it will not start the sync'ing process with my device.
    - the little "check" box - "automatically synchronize device and computer when USB connected" is switched on
    - I am using the latest version of Desktop Manager
    - the "Synchronize" tab is in grey. It's grey'ed out. When my curser hovers over "Synchronize" it won't light up, as in, it won't let me press the Synchronize button to initiate the process.
    - my 9700 is brand new. I had no synchronizing problems with my previous model, the Curve.
    - my laptop is a great device, I don't currently, nor haven't had, any issues with it in the past - DELL D420 Latitude. I seem to have all the drivers I need
    - I am running Windows XP
    - I am not linking to a server at work. My Blackberry is set is purely a directly link from the 9700 device, to my computer, and syncs with the calendar, address book and tasks list (MS Outlook 2003 from MS Office)
    - my new 9700 - I bought it 2weeks ago. It did sync in the beginning. About three times successfully. But not now obviously.
    - on my Windows bar at the bottom of my computer screen it pops up "new hardware added" and the 9700 device is no longer described by its identity number (PIN ref?), it says "new hardware added, 'memory device'"
    - I've searched through the Blackberry help pages and so far, all I can come up with is that my computer can't seem to recognise now, for some unknown reason, that it is connected to my 9700. Blackberry help suggested I go to the "pairing" pages of the Help guide, but I thought "pairing" was only a subject that involves Bluetooth activities. Not a USB cable connection.
    Anyone got any ideas?

    Hey Graeme0309,
If you disconnect the BlackBerry from your computer and open Desktop Manager, are you able to open Synchronize?
What version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager are you using?
