  • PI Certification TechEd 2009

    Hello,
    This would be my first visit to SAP TechEd and I am aspiring to apply for the PI Certification.
    Kindly guide me as to whether the ILT pre-requisite courses of TBIT40 & 44 are mandatory to attend in order to register for the certification. What would be the distribution of marks for the Associate Developer kind of certification for PI?
    Also, I would like to confirm if there is any negative marking system for these certifications.
    Thanks in advance,
    Elizabeth.

    Hello,
    For certification related questions you have "SAP Certified Professionals" forum, please post them in that forum in furuture.
    Actually I want to go for SAP FI certification. I heard that if I have 2+ years of experience in SAP, then can I go for the certification or not. I have another doubt that I dont know how to go for certification with experience. Could any one please give me guidelines to do this and is it mandatory to have SAP Market Place IDs to pursue certification or not.
    If you have two years of experience, you can write the certification. For further details, you please contact your local SAP Education Team. SAP Market place is not required, once you make the payment for SAP Certification, SAP itself will create you an Service Market Place (OSS) ID.
    Marks are 70%. 3 Hours - 80 Questions - No Negative marking.
    At least you need to read the specified books not less than 5 times religiously before going to exam.
    You should have good understanding of basic fundamentals of FI.
    Fee may be INR 25000 plus applicable service tax
    You can find the certification syllabus at
    www.sap.com/education
    Contact your local SAP Education team in your country of residence.

  • BRFPlus - naming convention

    Does anyone already have a set of
    1) naming conventions set up for BRFPlus development. I am looking for naming conventions for BRFplus objects like applications, expressions, data objects, etc...
    2) BRFPlus development standards and guidelines
    We are planning to use BRFPlus and just making sure that I dont end up reinventing the wheel?
    Thanks,
    Saurabh

    Hi Saurabh,
    There are name checks for applications and inside of an application for functions. The names must be unique and you need to adhere to naming conventions same as with DDIC or ABAP objects. All the rest can be named as you like. Means you may give any name to expressions and data objects contained in an application. The only restriction is that only characters, underscore and digits are allowes as well as slashes for namespaces.
    In the text of an object anything can be used. You are able to configure the UI in such a way that either text or names are used (as of EHP2) so that the UI looks IT or business-like.
    I have seen conventions indicating the type, such as DECT... for Decision Tables.
    In case you plan to attend TechEd 2009 we can meet for a discussion. I will be in Phoenix and Vienna. Colleagues will do the Bangalore and Shanghai session.

  • Help regarding calling BRFPLUS function through ABAP code

    Hi,
          I have  a situation where I have to input  data into a BRFPLUS function  as a table (i.e the data is input as select options where list or range of data can be provided).The corresponding output is also in the form a table .I've created this function in BRFPLUS and is working fine .Now I have to call it through ABAP code.Can someone kindly  provide me with the probable code for this scenario.
    E.g:
            ZT_MATNR  is the table in brfplus representing the list of MATNR values input along with other such inputs to function module Z_FM
            ZT_ATM   is the  resultant output table  of the function  which contains several fields.
    Now I have to call this BRFPLUS function with help of ABAP code.Could someone kindly help.

    Hello ,
    There should be a number of BRF+ tutorials available in SCN which discuss the FDT APIs. You can have a look at them to get an idea of the various APIs available and their uses.
    For your usecase, you should do the following.
            lo_fdt_function         TYPE REF TO if_fdt_function,
            lo_fdt_result           TYPE REF TO if_fdt_result,
    * Get function handle
          CALL METHOD lo_fdt_factory->get_function
            EXPORTING
              iv_id       = lv_function_id
            RECEIVING
              ro_function = lo_fdt_function.
    where lv_function_id is the GUID of the BRF+ function . You can either make it a constant , or you can use a FDT API to get the function GUID from the BRF+ application name and function name.
    *   Set function context
        TRY.
            CALL METHOD lo_fdt_context->set_value
              EXPORTING
                iv_id    =
                ia_value =
    This is one way to set the input context ( pass the input to the BRF+ function to process ). There are other ways to do this as well. Which one you use would depend on the kind of input you want to pass.
    * Execute BRFPLUS function
      TRY.
          CALL METHOD lo_fdt_function->process
            EXPORTING
              io_context = lo_fdt_context
            IMPORTING
              eo_result  = lo_fdt_result.
    * Get result output
      TRY.
          CALL METHOD lo_fdt_result->get_value
            IMPORTING
              ea_value =
    Another direct way of doing it would be to use the method PROCESS of the class CL_FDT_FUNCTION_PROCESS.
    I have not gone into much explaination here , but it should provide you an idea of how you can go about it.Read the SCN docs on the APIs to get a better idea , or better still if you can get hold of a copy of the BRF+ book by Carsten Ziegler , you will get an end to end explaination of all BRF+ APIs in it.
    Regards,
    Indranil.

  • Migration of Rules from BRF to BRFPlus

    Hi Folks,
    Can we migrate business rules maintained in BRF in BRF+ ?

    Carsten Ziegler said here that there is no such tool:
    At an earlier planning stage of the BRFplus project, it was intended to offer a migration tool for migrating rules modeled in BRF to BRFplus. However, after some research and tests, we have canceled this approach. It turned out that, for technical and conceptual reasons, a 1:1 migration would not lead to a desirable result. You would not have been able to leverage the capabilities of BRFplus, and the result would not have been satisfying.
    Maybe you can use the BRFplus API to make the migration easier by automation.

  • TechEd payment problems

    Hello,
    I'm trying to register for the Shanghai Teched before the rate goes up by US$100 on October 1st, and for every credit card and debit card that I use (even that of friends and colleagues) I get:
    "The card you entered cannot be used for this payment. Please enter a different credit or debit card number."
    Is there some trick to this? Has anybody else managed to pay for Shanghai or any other TechEd?
    I'm using Visa and Mastercard.
    regards
    Rick Bakker
    Hanabi Technology

    Hello,
    I think I now know what the problem is and it can be summed up in one word: Paypal.
    Even when you're not a Paypal member you have to pay through their site, and they have an algorithm which decides which payments are suspect, and which aren't. Apparently, all of mine are suspect. I called them and they told me there is nothing I can do, except contact SAP and find a different way of paying. I would advise SAP to do the same next year and accept credit cards directly without making use of Paypal's "services".
    Can anybody from SAP help me (and doubtless others) with this? If I have to pay the exta USD$100 as of October 1st then I'll probably skip Shanghai TechEd 2009.
    I also contacted the SAP-preferred agents for accommodation in Shanghai and, as of  two weeks later, there has been no response.
    regards

  • How to store user input as an xml Parameter value in log4j.xml?

    I am working on an app that is blend of log4j , EJBs, JMS, weblogic.
    In log4j, I have specified the value of  file appender;
    but now what I  wanna do is: Take path for File (For File Appender) from user and use it as a File path for File Appender in log4j.xml
    Kindly guide me
    Thank you!

    I think the display of the trace in a standard WDA-component would be the best solution. Maybe Carsten Ziegler can help.
    You can return the trace from the BRFplus-function call and can extract everything using XSLT (CALL TRANSFORMATION command):
    <xsl:transform xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:sap="http://www.sap.com/sapxsl" xmlns:asx="http://www.sap.com/abapxml" version="1.0">

      <xsl:template match="/">
        <asx:abap>
          <asx:values>
            <ROOT>
              <xsl:apply-templates/>
            </ROOT>
          </asx:values>
        </asx:abap>
      </xsl:template>
      <xsl:template match="/FDT/LOG/TEXT">
        <item>
          <xsl:value-of select="string(.)"/>
         </item>
         <xsl:apply-templates/>
      </xsl:template>
      <xsl:template match="/FDT/LOG/CONTEXT_UPDATE">

      </xsl:template>
      <xsl:template match="text() | @*">

    You have to adjust the transformation to get the result you need.

    Hello ,
    There should be a number of BRF+ tutorials available in SCN which discuss the FDT APIs. You can have a look at them to get an idea of the various APIs available and their uses.
    For your usecase, you should do the following.
            lo_fdt_function         TYPE REF TO if_fdt_function,
            lo_fdt_result           TYPE REF TO if_fdt_result,
    * Get function handle
          CALL METHOD lo_fdt_factory->get_function
            EXPORTING
              iv_id       = lv_function_id
            RECEIVING
              ro_function = lo_fdt_function.
    where lv_function_id is the GUID of the BRF+ function . You can either make it a constant , or you can use a FDT API to get the function GUID from the BRF+ application name and function name.
    *   Set function context
        TRY.
            CALL METHOD lo_fdt_context->set_value
              EXPORTING
                iv_id    =
                ia_value =
    This is one way to set the input context ( pass the input to the BRF+ function to process ). There are other ways to do this as well. Which one you use would depend on the kind of input you want to pass.
    * Execute BRFPLUS function
      TRY.
          CALL METHOD lo_fdt_function->process
            EXPORTING
              io_context = lo_fdt_context
            IMPORTING
              eo_result  = lo_fdt_result.
    * Get result output
      TRY.
          CALL METHOD lo_fdt_result->get_value
