    Long Text
    Dear Sap,
I am trying to run brgui using RSH service from windows 2000
    professional
    to HP-UX 11.11 .
When I try to connect using command 'rsh hpbill<hostname> -l oradev<user> brtools'
from Windows OS i get 'hpbill.hfclconnect.com: remshd: Login
incorrect'.I have even created .rhosts file in $home(home directory of
    oradev).
    The entry it contains is:
    <ip of the windows host> oradev<user on remote host>.
The system is also pinging fine.
Still I am unable to logon.
    Any solutions??.
    Regards,
    Sumit

    1) This is the information I place in .rhosts:
    Logon on as ora<sid>
cd (to the home directory for ora<sid>)
    vi .rhosts
    Add a line: your_laptop_computer_name  your_Windows_logon_user_id
    chmod 600 .rhosts
    2) brgui.properties
If there are any typos regarding the numbers for the Unix servers in this file, then  brgui will not work.
    brgui.remote-0=
    brgui.remote-1=
    brgui.remote-2=
    3) I do not know about W2K, But XP/SP2 needed a Hot Fix for brGui to work.
Windows XP SP2 Hot Fix is needed for brgui
You will need to install this hot fix on your laptop.
    Hot Fix - 226962_ENU_i386_zip
    4) On some of our HP-UX boxes, if you cannot connect to the box, you may have to open a ticket with your UNIX group to:
un-commented /etc/inetd.conf: shell stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/remshd remshd

  • BRGUI: Connect WindowsXP to AIX: BR0255E Cannot read from standard input

    Hi,
I configure brgui.properties and seam everything ok:

Can anybody help? Maybe is it related with AIX files authorizations?
    Thanks a lot!
    Rui

    Hi Rui,
Please take note on the following important points.
When you use the remote option, ensure that the environment on the
remote host is fully configured to use the BR*Tools, and that the remoteuser has the relevant database rights. You should also ensure that the
relevant environment files are actually called up during the remote
    access.
    and
In some cases, BrGui does not work with the Remote Shell rsh from from
Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Service Pack 1. See Microsoft Support Article ID 896336. Microsoft
offers a hotfix for this purpose. As a workaround, use the rsh from the
previous Service Pack. This is located in the uninstall directory after
the Service Pack has been installed. You can also enter the complete
path in the relevant remote call.
    Hope the above information helps.

  • BRGUI

    Hello advice sought:
We have installed BRGUI on an XP workstation and receive errors messages when trying to connect to our Solaris UNIX SAP host. The xp rsh interface appears to be adding a ' (single speech quote) to the i/o stream. For example:
    C:\>rsh 89.1.0.19 -l orahrp "source /oracle/HRP/.cshrc;/usr/sap/HRP/SYS/exe/run/

As you can see the c shell environment is being set up on the command line I'm not sure that this is standard behavior. But the main problem is the ' that gets added by DOS. Any suggestions?

    Hi Roland,
Try the command without sourcing the C environment.
Let me know what happens then.

  • Maxextent of PSAPTEMP = 0  : normal ?

    Hello,
    SAP release ; ECC6
    Oracle release : Oracle 10.2
    Unix : Solaris 10
We had the following error this morning while trying to reorganize an index :
<b>ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by 128 in tablespace PSAPTEMP</b>
I was about to add new datafile to the tableblace PSAPTEMP but I noticed strange parameters related to this tablespace :
Tablespace              Init ext.(Kb)   Next ext.(Kb)   Min ext.     Max ext.     Pct-Inc.
    PSAPSR3                                  64               0            1    Unlimited           0
    PSAPSR3700                            64               0            1    Unlimited           0
    PSAPSR3DB                            64               0            1    Unlimited          0
    PSAPSR3USR                           64               0            1    Unlimited         0
    <u>PSAPTEMP                        1.024           1.024          1            0           0</u>
    PSAPUNDO                               64             0            1    Unlimited            0
    SYSAUX                                    64               0            1    Unlimited            0
    SYSTEM                                    64               0            1    Unlimited           0
Tablespace Size (kb)  Free (kb)  Used (%)Tab/ind Extents
    PSAPTEMP 2.324.480   2.324.480     0     0    0
    The Tablespace is empty.
The Maxextent of tablespace PSAPTEMP is null, in all our ECC6 environnements,
and has never been modified. I wanted to change it to "unlimited", I've searched in BRGUI, but I couln't find where i can do that. I presume it can be done using an alter command ?
    So my questions are :
1/ Is it a "normal" setting in Oracle 10.2 to have the maxextent of PSAPTEMP = 0
2/ If not, how can I change, the maxextent size of PSAPTEMP ?
    Thank you for your attention.
Any useful help would be highly appreciated.
    Best Regards.

    Hello Michael,
    >> temp tablespaces have tempfiles instead of datafiles, they never hold data, they don't need to be backup-ed / recovered
    Not up to 100%
In previous releases it was possible to make a temporary tablespace as a type of permanent. But you are right.. if you create the tablespace as temporary.. you are not able to add some datafiles to it.
But now i have read the question of the topic creator again.. and i have to say that i have read out the first time.
    >> 1/ Is it a "normal" setting in Oracle 10.2 to have the maxextent of PSAPTEMP = 0
Yes this is normal and described in metalinknote #108971.1
    >This behavior is documented.  MAXEXTENTS is ignored for temporary tablespaces.  As stated in the SQL Reference guide, only NEXT is noted for temporary tablespaces.

  • MSCS and Kernel patches: Can someone please refresh my memory?

    Greetings,
We run 4.7 Ent on a 2-node MSCS Cluster (SQL).
I need to do a kernel upgrade, but I have forgotten the precise distribution of kernel files outside of the "run" directory for the cluster.
    I understand they are:
    Main Kernel Files
    shared_drive \usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\run
    MSCS Files (on each node)
    local_drive \Windows\SapCluster\
    local_drive \Windows\System32\
However, could someone please remind me which files go into
"SapCluster" and "System32", or if you know the location, point me to an SAP document that details the kernel patch process in an MSCS Cluster (rather than a general MSCS config document which is of no use in this situatio).
Thanks if anyone is able to help.

Edited by: Tim McKenzie on May 28, 2008 4:52 PM

    Hi Tim,
    We have a productive SAP R/3 4.7 (Windows 2003 IA64 Oracle 9.2) on a 2 nodes MSCS cluster.
    In C:\windows\SapCluster
We have the following files :
    backint.exe
    brarchive.exe
    brbackup.exe
    brconnect.exe
    brgui
    brrecover.exe
    brrestore.exe
    brspace.exe
    brtools.exe
    cpio.exe
    cpqccms.dll
    dd.exe
    dev_rout
    mkszip.exe
    mt.exe
    niping.exe
    pstat.exe
    rfcoscol.exe
    routtab.txt
    sapevents.dll
    sapgw
    sapntchk.exe
    sapntwaitforhalt.exe
    saposcol.exe
    saprouter.exe
    sapsrvkill.exe
    sapstart.exe
    sapstartsrv.exe
    sapstartsrv.exe.new
    sapxpg.exe
    uncompress.exe
So basically the SAP cluster dlls and the brtools.
We have also  C:\windows\SapCluster\brgui with the brgui files
and C:\windows\SapCluster\sapgw with the standalone gateway executables
In C:\windows\system32 we have these SAP files :
    sapmmc.dll
    sapmmcada.dll
    sapmmcinf.dll
    sapmmcms.dll
    saprc.dll
    saprcex.dll
    sapstart.log
    sapstartsrv.exe
To update the kernel, we do it one node after the other one switching the SAP resources between the 2 nodes .
We of course keep the same patch level in the different directories.
    Hope this helps.

    Hope this helps.

  • Howto check my backup TAPE will work properly or not.

    Hi all,
I am taking every day offline backup to my production server.
now i want check my tape, in case of restore it will work properly or not.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Satish kumar-k

    Hi,
    A point to add.
The Oracle DBVERIFY tool is available for both types of verify, that is, backup tape readability (but without a byte-by-byte comparison) and database block consistency.
To perform a backup verification, start BRTOOLS or BRGUI and choose Backup
and database copy &#8594; Verification of database backup and Backup and database
copy &#8594; Verification of archivelog backup respectively. Select the backup to
be verified from the list and select the type of verification in the option Use
    DBVERIFY (use_dbv):
no means that only tape verification will be performed.
yes means that tape verification is performed and database block
    consistency is checked.
    Hope this helps.
    Pl award suitably.

  • Logging off mass users

    Hello experts:
Is there a transaction or any way to kill users or end  users sessions from one screen. I know that you can view users from SM04 or AL08 but these screens don't allow you to end users sessions.
Another way I have been killing or ending user sessions is by logging on to the production server using AL08 to see who is logged on under active instance.  Than log on to the dialog servers using BRGUI using transaction SM04 and logging the user off.   But I want to do this from one transaction and one screen.
Thanks for your help have a great weekend.
    Billy

Such transaction is not existing - and in fact, I personally would never do that. You don´t know what the users are exactly doing and you will hardly interrupt their processing...
If it´s just one instance, why not shut it simply down?
