Brian Peat, Kyn Drake -- Workaround 4 Hyperlinks-Only Export

Gentleman...King Huang has recommended I contact you two. I have an Interactive Keynote that I'm exporting for use on a CD-ROM. King's helped me with a big "interactivity" issue by creating a sprite track to solve one of my problems.
The FINAL issue is that I can't seem to get KN to export to QT and ACTUALLY work as "hyperlinks only." I've chosen that option in the inspector, I've even gone through all slides and put a dummy "empty" rectangle with no fill or links JUST BELOW the objects that ARE linked, hoping to "zero out" the rest of the frame so a viewer can't automatically advance the slides. THIS IS IMPERATIVE--they MUST follow the respective links in order to navigate the presentation.
I'm at my wit's end here and past deadline. The only things I can think of are ditching Keynote for the interactivity, hiring King or someone to do all the sprite work (or forfeiting MORE sleep to slowly do it myself), conducting an experiment incorporating BUILDS instead of individual slides, or something altogether different.

There is a problem with the interactive QuickTime Export in that a sprite is automatically created that's the same size as the presentation and it's set to go to the next slide. The only way I've been able to defeat this is to place a "null" object (no fill, no stroke) preferably a rectangle the same size as the presentation and LINK it to the current slide.
Are you just creating the "null" object without linking it to the current slide? If so, give that a try and see if it works.

InDesign CS5.5 Exporting PDF master page hyperlinks only work on first 2 pages

We recently upgraded from CS5 to CS5.5 and now our hyperlinks that go to different pages in the PDF only are working on the first 2 pages of each document in the book. We have about 30 documents wrapped up in a indesign book. On the master page we have hyperlinks that allow users to quickly go to the index in the back of the book. After the CS5.5 upgrade the hyperlinks only work the the first 2 pages of each document. We export to PDF(print) with hyperlinks enabled.
I have tried the below:
- I have tried 2 different computers
- Deleted and re-created the indesign preference file
- deleted and re-created the hyperlinks

Can you recommendd the best way to manage the following:
I'm on a Mac. Created an enewsletter for a client in Indesign CS5 with 7 "click here"s throughout the document. The hyperlinks are to connect w other PDF documents not URLs.
Where will I have the best luck creating the hyperlinks - Indesign or in the PDF I export? I have Acrobat Pro if I need to create the hyperlinks in the PDF.
Except I can't figure out how to create the links in either program as far as what name to designate and where do the PDFs reside so people can link to them? And do I enter the file name of the PDF connected to the particular "click here."

Quicktime Export, Hyperlinks Only Option, What's The Problem?

Upon exporting the slideshow using QuickTime option (Hyperlinks only, CD-ROM Movie), the slideshow fails to initialize, the hyperlinks seem to function quite well but the slideshow still progresses everytime the user clicks on other parts of the screen. Doesn't "hyperlinks only" mean advancing to the desired page on a designated "hyperlinked" link only?
What seems to be the problem here?

HMMM....the links seem to be working using "hyperlinks only" mode with "apple intermediate codec" but the thing is, it fails to show the linked slide when it's clicked on the remaining slides! aaargh!

Retaining hyperlinks on export...?

I've exported a full-size slideshow from Keynote to a "hyperlink only" QuickTime video (for those that don't know, that means the "slides" only advance when you click a link that tells the QuickTime to move to the next slide.) This is a great feature, and the full-size QuickTime looks gorgeous and performs flawlessly.
It's a pretty hefty file (17 MB) and I'd like to shrink it a bit using my QuickTime Pro Export or Share feature. Trouble is, I've been unable to find an Export... option that retains the hyperlink features... the smaller exported files just play through the slideshow quickly and then end.
Does anyone know an Export setting or feature that will allow the slideshow hyperlink feature to remain intact?

The only box unchecked was "chapter," so I checked it and exported it using "QuickTime to QuickTime Movie." The resulting movie has little titles below the video frame now (slide1, slide2, etc.) but still no "click-ability"
Thanks for your help, but I think the best solution will be to save a copy of my Keynote slideshow with a smaller slide size and re-export from there. A little more work-intensive, but it's no big deal.

Smart Builds possible in hyperlink only Quicktime?

I have created a presentation for distribution, so I need to use quicktime for compatibility. The presentation is set up to only use hyperlinks, but when I export to quicktime the smart builds do not function. Am I missing something, or is there a work around?
I can not export to manual, because then a stray mouse click would advance the presentation to the next slide rather than navigating with the hyperlinks to other slides that are provided in the presentation.

I am having the exact same problem. If I save as manual rather than hyperlink only, the smart builds work, but now a stray mouse click moves to the next slide, rather than letting the presenter only navigate through my strategic hyperlinks.

Why does preview only export the the *first* page of a multi-page PDF, regardless of what page I'm on?

I am trying to save all 20 pages of a pdf as .png images. I scroll to each page and then select File>Export... and save an image. Regardless of which page I'm on, it will only export the first page.

What is even more lame is that I'm doing this work-around because whoever created this datasheet either didn't properly embed the fonts, or the fonts are corrupt, hence, while it displays perfectly on the screen, printing yeilds:

If it can display it, there should be a way to print what you see (remember rasterized plots back in the day??).

That does seem rather useless.
Use Automator - it has a "PDF to Images" action that will do exactly what you need. Drop your document into the workflow, drop the "PDF to Images" action in right after that, set any options that you need (like where to save) and then click "run"
Barring that, I've found that sometimes Adobe Reader will sometimes work well for documents that Preview can't print, and I've found some documents that Adobe Reader chokes on but Preview handles flawlessly.

I've been having a strange problem with Media Encoder CC 2014 & After Effects CC 2014. If I try to export a comp either through Media Encoder or directly from the After Effects Render Queue then it only exports audio. If I bring the AE Comp into Premiere and export from there either by sending it to Media Encoder or exporting it directly from Premiere then it exports fine and gives me audio and video.

How to create a hyperlink when exporting .pdf?

Hi guys,
I've been doing quite a bit of research on how to make an object into a hyperlink when exporting my .ai as .pdf.
So far I've come across guides that show the method of using Object > Slice and the Attributes' Image Map, but none of them seem to work when I open my exported .pdf.
How do you guys create objects with links when exporting .pdf?

InDesign, most probably.
Or create the PDF in Illustrator and use Acrobat (Pro) afterwards to make links.
Depends on what's inside the document.

'Hyperlinks only' setting not working on iPad

I have Keynote set for 'Hyperlinks only' for slide page changes in the Inspector/Document. However, when I use the presentation on my new iPad, it goes back to 'normal' in that touching anywhere on the screen (away from a hyperlink) advances to the next slide. Need to HURRIEDLY fix for convention.

Yes. Either use Leopard OS for QT 7 Pro export as a PICT and Preview to covert to another format or use MPEG Streamclip (free) to export the frame directly to JPEG, TIFFF, and/or PNG formats under Snow Leopard OS.

OBIEE11g - GO URL Hyperlink is exported to Excel

Hi,
I've had to use a GO URL as a drill through on one of our dashboards. Normall we use Action Link (BI Navigation).
When the Anlaysis with the GO Url is exported to excel the hyperlink is exported in a clickable form.
Anyone know if it's possible to stop the exporting of the hyper link in its clickable form?

Excel often gives me problems with hyperlinks. I made a test of a link to an mp3 in a Number table. One cell was the hyperlink, another used the HYPERLINK function. Both worked flawlessly in Numbers. Both opened as text from Excel, just as you saw.
I created an Excel document (using Excel) and pasted in the same link. It, too, opened it as a text file.
I used "Insert Hyperlink" in Excel to create the hyperlink. Same thing.
Looks to be an Excel problem, not one related to Numbers or exporting to Excel.

It it possible to use "Build Out" actions in "Hyperlinks Only" mode?

I'm trying to make a "Hyperlinks Only" keynote so that my students can navigate through exercises at their own pace. So far so good. However, I'm trying to make it more visually engaging. I can use build-in's fine for a page, but build outs do not seem to work. Keynote's inspector allows me to give an object a "build out" command OR an "action" command, but when the presentation actually runs, tapping the object just takes you immediately to the next slide without doing a build out or an action.
Is this a bug? Or is this something Keynote specifically does/can not do? Or please say I'm just doing something wrong and you can show me the light.

Build in and build out work perfectly well.
select the object on the slide then add the build in effect
start the build to automatically after transition
open the build order side panel by clicking more options
build out:
select build out and add the effect
set start build automatically then add the amount of delay
note that the build order has the build in listed first, and the build out is last

Export using quicktime conversion only exports 23 seconds of my project...

Hi,
I am trying to output a promotional video to .wmv format using the quicktime conversion. It only exports 23 seconds of footage before stopping, which is no use at all.
Whats wrong?
I have tried setting ins and outs around the video, and I have tried selecting all the content in the timeline, but nothing seems to help.

Not on mine. I had to buy a third party product to do that.
AFAIK, the ability to be exporting to wmv is not included with FCS or Compressor or QT. If it appears in your options, you may have installed another app that includes the transcoders and codecs.
Microsoft and Apple do not cooperate in the format wars, neither will support the other and there's money involved. It's a shame becuase Flash is whacking both of them stupid and Silverlight is even kinda cool. QT's days are probably numbered.

Export Quicktime Movie only exports fades and composites (FCP6)

I'm trying to add a couple of lower thirds and a fade in and out to a live capture of a lecture; but for some reason, it's only exporting the effects - the fades and lower thirds. Everything else is skipped in the final QT movie.
I right-click the sequence and say 'Export > QuickTime Movie', leaving the settings as they are. The exported movie is 1.45GB - around the same size as the imported movie - but it's only 29 seconds long. Can anyone enlighten me as to what's going on? I tried clicking 'recompress all frames' but I have two problems with this: (1) it's going to recompress unnecessarily, and (2) it's looking like that will take about two hours.
Any help would be appreciated.

FCP6. Right there in the question title. Version 6.0.6, if that's important.
It was actually recorded off WireCast, with one camera and desktop streaming. Sequence settings are 720p square pixels, H.264 video.
Export from the File Menu has the same effect.
