  • Can't activate a Factory Unlocked iPhone 4s.

    I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!
I PURCHASED A FACTORY UNLOCKED IPHONE 4S WITHIN THE US AND PAID $706 FOR IT AND WHEN I SHIPPED IT OUT INTERNATIONALLY TO MY FIANCE BACK AT HOME, SHE CONNECTED THE PHONE TO ITUNES AND SHE IS UNABLE TO ACTIVATE IT. IT DOES NOT GIVE THE MESSAGE "YOUR PHONE HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY UNLOCKED" AND THEREFORE IT SAYS NO SERVICE ON THE PHONE. THE OPERATING SYSTEM ON THE PHONE IS THE iOS 5.0.1. FURTHERMORE, I GOT IN CONTACT WITH A SENIOR ADVISOR FROM APPLE AND HE TOLD US TO RESTORE THE PHONE AND THAT MIGHT HELP. SHE TRIED RESTORING THE PHONE AND NOW WE CAME ACROSS ANOTHER PROBLEM WHICH GIVES HER THE ERROR 1630. PLEASE CAN ANYBODY HELP???

    First, STOP SHOUTING.
Second, you did NOT purchase an unlocked 4S in the US.  The brick and mortal Apple stores do not yet have them in stock.  They can only be ordered online and have not yet been readied for delivery.
What you likely purchased was a contract-free iPhone, which is NOT unlocked.  Your fiancee will NOT be able to activate that phone.

  • How to activate factory unlocked iphone 3gs with os 4.0

i have bought a factory unlocked iphone 3gs loaded with latest os 4.0 in usa for $850 , but i am unable to activate it over itunes.
I want to activate it without at&t sim as its factory unloacked.
Can anybody give me the process or any reference links on how to activate it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Pavan Raj.

If the iPhone had the 4.0 Beta loaded on it, the iPhone needs to be registered with a developer for the iPhone to even function. If it's not registered and the beta is installed then it is a brick. Regardless of if it is registered or not, as Tamara said the iPhone 4.0 Beta has no support. The Beta is a beta and is for developers who are developing apps. That way they can release apps as soon as the OS 4.0 is released sometime this summer. You should get an error message saying something along the lines of this phone is not registered with a developer, if the iPhone is not registered.

If it is unlocked by the carrier then you just need to plug it into iTunes with a SIM card from a compatible carrier. If you get a message saying that the SIM is not from an authorized carrier, well then the iPhone is not unlocked, sorry.
If the iPhone is not unlocked you are really out of luck. While there are ways to hack an iPhone to unlock it, there are no methods for the 4.0 Beta to unlock the iPhone, and even if there is a way to hack it to unlock the iPhone 3GS on the 4.0 OS, it won't come for a long time.

  • Hopw to unlock iphone 5 without itunes

how to unlock my disabled iphone 5 without itunes

In brief it's a practice of modifying the iOS on your iPhone. If your iPhone is hacked or jailbroken it will leave it vulnerable to malware and risk bricking your iPhone should you attempt future software updates or restoring your iPhone.  This link will help http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3743. It's important to point out that it will also void any warranty you may have and forfeit any support from this forum.

  • Unlocked iphone 4s in best buy?

Is it possible to buy an unlocked  iphone 4s from a different store like Best buy?

Not at this time, and the brick and mortar Apple Store also does not have them.

so i tried then to restore the iphone using itunes but it got worse it is giving me now "ICCID: unknown" message please help. any ideas?

Please define "factory unlocked". The term is basically meaningless. iPhones are sold either carrier locked or unlocked. Some carriers will unlock them after a period of time upon meeting certain requirements and paying a fee.
There are lots of places that will "factory unlock" an iPhone. This basically translates to "hack". This can cause permanent damage to the phone. Best case scenario is these phones will re-lock to the original carrier on an update or restore. Worst case it they become expensive bricks.
ICCID unknown indicates a critical failure. There is no way to resolve this other than taking it in to Apple and getting the phone replaced. It's very possible that the phone was hacked and attempting to update has now killed it.
Where, EXACTLY, did you get this phone?

Thing is i dont know if he was authorised. And on the box, there was no name of a service provider on the picture of the iphone, usually there is at&t or something, thats why i think its legally unlocked, and the fact that when i plugged it into the computer. Itunes told me to activate it but not full activating with plans, just my itunes account and where i live

  • Unlocked iphone replaced with a locked one

Last year in October I bought an unlocked iphone 5s in Thailand, I live in Croatia and  had some issues with the screen and yesterday apple gave me a new replacement iphone, and the replacement iphone is locked. Been talking with Apple support yesterday for over an hour, and they suspect its locked to US AT&T (but not 100 % sure if its AT&T), they can see the store info where I bought it in Thailand but they say they can't do anything to unlock it, so they gave me phone number of AT&T and said they would unlock it wihout problem.
Anyway then I started talking to AT&T support then and been talking to a couple of managers  for over 2 hours, they just keep passing me to another higher level person and in the end they said they couldn't  do anything, their best suggestion was that I go from Croatia to the store in Thailand where I bought to iphone so they unlock it.
I did a online check of my Iphone over IME numberI and this is the info I got:
    Model: SVC,IPHONE 5S,GSM,16GB,GRAY,CI/AR
    MAC: 78FD94CB1455
    ICCID:
    iOS Version: 8.0.2
    Unbricked: false
    Unlocked: false
    Activation Status: No
    First Unbricked Date:
    Last Unbricked Date:
Initial Activation Policy: 52 - US GSM Service Policy
    Applied Activation Policy: -
Next Tether Policy (Carrier): 52 - US GSM Service Policy
    Status: Locked
Please help,  what should I do?

Whatever you do, do not use the factory unlocks, because then you will never be able to use your phone - this amounts to hacking your phone, which will void any warranty cover and perhaps brick your phone for good.
Anyway, what you need to do is go back to the Apple reseller who gave you the replacement phone in the first place and tell them that you had an unlocked phone and that the replacement they gave you is locked to AT&T and you need to demand that you give you another replacement phone that is unlocked.
If you went to the Apple re-seller for help in the  first place and they were the ones who gave you the replacement phone, then it is their responsibility to give you another unlocked phone and not one that is locked to a network.  They need to replace like with like, so if you went through them, then it is their responsibility and not Apple or AT&T.  There is nothing AT&T can do for you to unlock the phone, as you never had a contract with them in the first place and Apple do not unlock phones anyway - only the carriers, so your first port of call must be the re-seller.
However, if you purchased the phone in Thailand you have no warranty cover for Croatia - iPhone warranty is not international, so to get a proper exchange and warranty cover, you will really need to go back to the Apple store in Thailand where you purchased the phone to get a proper unlocked replacement and this iw what you should have done in the first place.
iPhone warranty is not international so the Apple re-seller in Croatia need not have helped you in the first place, which is probably why you got a locked phone as a replacement, but your first port of call is them, as you dealt with them in the first instance.
They gave you a locked phone as a replacement, so ultimately, they need to replace that locked phone with an unlocked phone as you had.

  • Is the unlocked iPhone 5 available in the USA ?

Hi ! Could you tell me if the unlocked iPhone 5 is available in the USA and if it is not, when then ?
I called a guy of the Apple Store Fifth Avenue and he told me it was available unlocked in the USA. Is that true ? Because I heard a lot of people saying it wouldn't be available until end of October.
    Thanks !

No, at least not yet. Its available unlocked from the canadian apple store. But not in the US store yet, nor any brick and mortar store.
As to when.. nothing has been said about its release date just yet as far as I know.

  • Siri is prompting to unlock Iphone 6 when pressing home button for voice dial of existing contact

Just upgraded me to an IPhone 6. I restored my new phone from recent back up so all contacts, etc. are there. Also updated to latest OS.
If I depress the home button Siri is now prompting me to unlock my IPhone.
    Scenario:
Depress Home button to activate Siri
    Say "Call Home:"
Siri responds "You'll need unlock your IPhone first"
    Unlock IPhone
Siri responds "Just to confirm - you'd like to call home".
I used to be able to just say "Call home" and it would just dial.....no unlock...no confirmation.
What's changed? Is there a setting I need to tweak?
    Running iOS 8.1.1
    Thanks

    Hi teturner,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your new iPhone 6. If you are unable to voice dial from your lock screen, you may want to see if the setting to disable Siri when the phone is locked is enabled, as is noted here:
Prevent access to Siri when iPhone is locked. Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode (iPhone models with Touch ID) or Settings > Passcode (other models). You can also disable Siri by turning on restrictions. See Restrictions.

  • Issue with Airplane Mode on legitimately unlocked iPhone

    Hi,
I bought an iPhone in Australia from a distributor for one of the large carriers. I bought the white 16Gb outright and paid the fee to have the phone unlocked (as is permitted in Australia). It all worked well with both an Aus and a UK SIM card I had.
The white plastic back then cracked so I took it to an Apple store where they replaced it. I told the Genius that I'd had it unlocked and he said no problems, etc, etc.
He replaced the phone and I took it home, all seemed to work well. Again, with both SIMs.
I installed the 2.2 firmware upgrade.
    Now to the troublesome bit.
Sitting in Melbourne airport, about to leave Australia for some significant time, I swapped the SIMs over and the phone started complaining about needing to be connected to iTunes.
I did this and it unlocked (again).
Question 1: Do I really have to connect to iTunes every time I change the SIM?
I replaced the SIM with my Aus one and turned the phone off to fly to Kuala Lumpur. On arrival in KL I swapped SIMs again, went through the hassle of connecting to iTunes to unlock.
Then, as I wanted to use the phone on my net flight to watch movies and play Fuzzle, I turned on Airplane Mode with the UK SIM.
The phone instantly complains about the SIM being changed and asks to be connected to iTunes. I did this (getting annoyed at this point)! This time, iTunes reports that the phone is fauly and I should take to an Apple Store
I then replaced the SIM with my Aus one, and it all started working nicely again including allowing me to use Airporne Mode.
Question 2: Why can't I use Airplane Mode when my UK SIM is installed?
This seems like a bug to me, rather than some complication with Airplane mode. Surely if my phone has been unlocked and I can make calls with both SIMs, then I can use Airplane Mode regardless of which SIM I'm using?
Added complication here is that I'm not going back to Australia for a while (maybe years), so unless Apple are nice to me and decide that the phone is faulty and will replace it in the UK, I'm going to be left with an expensive, and white, iPod Touch.
    Cheers for any suggestions,
    Ian

I don't think the problem lies specifically with the SIM card, but with the software on the phone.
I would appreciate others trying to replicate my problem with their iPhones. Simple steps (requireing an unlocked iPhone) are...
    1. Insert original SIM card (all should be fine)
    2. Remove orginal SIM card and replace with second carrier SIM
    3. Sync with iTunes to get the phone working again.
    4. Either turn on Airplane Mode or turn the phone off and on again.
    5. The phone (at least mine) will require you to connect to iTunes again.
Turning on Airplane Mode or turning the phone off and on with the original SIM card inserted doesn't lead to this behaviour.

  • How do I make sure the unlocked iPhone 5s I buy on the Apple Store will be compatible with my carrier?

Hi, I'm looking to buy an unlocked iPhone 5s on Apple Store Canada - but my phone carrier, Wind Mobile, has a different frequency. I know this carrier isn't compatible with the iPhones 4s and earlier, but it was working on some versions of the 5. If I buy one here, will it work?

Ask the carrier if they support the iPhone and if it will work.

  • Hi, i am going to buy and iPhone 5 in france but it says its an unlocked iphone so i guess ir i take it to Ecuador (my country) the iPhone is gonna work with a sim card form Ecuador right¿

Hi, i am going to buy and iPhone 5 in france but it says its an unlocked iphone so i guess if i take it to Ecuador (my country) the iPhone is gonna work with a sim card from Ecuador right¿

If the receipt says "unlocked" (and not "SIM free") then it will work anywhere in the world that there is a GSM network. However, if it ever needs repair you will have to take it back to France.

The warranty for the iPhone is not and has never been International.
Warranty and support are ONLY valid in the country of origin.  The only exception is the EU where the entire EU is treated as one country.
If the device will be used in India, buy it in India.
An unlocked iPhone will work on any supported GSM carrier world wide.  The LTE portion of a US purchased, unlocked iPhone is unlikely to work outside North America as it does not support the appropriate bands used in other countries.
