Bricked Z10 LE 1-4 LED pattern

Hi there,
I really need help fixing my Z10 LE : since yesterday, it won't open and repeat the same 1-4 red LED pattern.
I already tried various OS flashing method (blackberry.com/updates , Blackberry Link recovery (on both Mac OSX and Windows) and even a dev auto loader) none of these methods worked for me, the all get stuck while "checking for new updates".
If it helps, just before crashing, my apps were not opening. When I clicked an app icon, the screen was sliding a bit and returned to my app icon (all my apps were just crashing on startup). That's the reason I rebooted my phone, but it never wakep up but fell in the 1-4 LED pattern.
Thanks for your help on this.

If you are certain of this, then leave your Z10 to charge on a known good OEM wall outlet charger for several hours.
Then, try the autoloader again.

  • Another Bricked z10

Got my Z10 the weekend that they came out on a business contract for my own company.  My carrier in the UK updated the OS last week, all looked promising.  Then on Sunday morning, I BBM'd my wife, put the phone in my coat pocket, when I got it out again 15 minutes later the red led was on and it wouldn't restart.
Been through ALL the forums I could find, tried ALL he suggested solutions, bar the reload of the OS using 3rd party tools and that's only because the sites hosting them are down.
So - it's stuck with the LED flshing twice.  Can't turn it off.  Just tried (again) the website method having totally uninstalled Link with Revo.  All looks ok, but gets to the stage of installing the OS - Green LED - then about 25% remaining just bombs out with "ann error occured upating your device".  Same with Link.
Is it bricked?  Is it scrap?

Try reloading the OS with an autoloader:

  • BB Z10 on AT&T: LED Notifications

My BB Z10 on the AT&T network has historically used the LED light to notify me of emails, texts, BBMs, etc when in "Phone Calls Only" notifications mode. Recently it stopped using the LED light in Phone Calls Only mode and I cannot figure out why. After some googling, I discovered that several BB10 users have had this problem with their device from the beginning. I have owned my device for roughly 9 months and the aforementioned issue did not start until last week. Something I may have done different is switch notification profiles via the volume keys on the side, I don't normally do this and noticed the LED stopped working in "Phone Calls Only" mode after I did this. Does anyone have any idea how to get LED notifications for texts, BBMs, emails, etc to work in phone call only notifications mode? I want the phone to be silent and not-vibrate for anything but a phone call while blinking at me for new messages. I understand I can go through and customize the "Normal" notification setting to do this but I like to be able to quickly switch from "Normal" to "Phone Call Only." Just to remove all doubt, I haven't installed an unauthorized OS or side loaded anything onto the Z10. There were not changes to the OS (e.g. updates) that coincided with the start of the issue.

OK, the 1st question would be....how exactly are you switching your "Notification profile" with the volume key??? For  me, that only increases / decreases the media volume regardless where I`m within "Notification"
It is possible that something may have changed in your settings under "Phone calls only". So go to the "Notification" > "Mode: Phone calls only" and see if everything is turned "ON". If it is, then scroll down and tap on "Applications". You will see a list of "Core Applications". You`ll need to open the apps in question to see which one has its notifications turned "OFF" and turn it back "ON"

  • Dead/fully completely bricked z10?

My z10 battery ran dead the other day and won't revive at all - same symptoms as this post (no logo/no comp recognition/nothing) - My Z10 is dead...
I've tried all various reset methods - tried reloading os (comp doesn't recognize device is connected/link doesn't recognize device/internet explorer method doesn't work either), have bought a new battery/ls1 charger kit, used oem chargers etc.., battery pulls etc.... I do not get anything on the screen -
the only sign the device gets any power is if:
:battery is removed then the device is plugged in - red light will come on for approx 45-60 secs then go off (both with battery out/reinserted)
:if I hold down power button etc.. to do a reset - the red light will flash twice after 10 secs then nothing.
Again, no recognition by comp/link(doesn't recognize as a usb drive - and yes the cable is fine also), nothing on screen whatsoever (no logo/battery/loading screen etc...)
I'm willing to try anything that might work in the next 24-36 hrs as I love the ph - but given that the z10 has basically been discontinued (the charger was stupid hard to track down in store) I won't be looking to replace it and it will prob have been my last bb ph. Any suggestions would be appreciated! thanks john

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Possibly Bricked Z10

    Hi,
I was wondering if there's anyone here who could help me out with my phone problem. A few days ago, my phone ran out of battery while it was in the middle of an update. I was out then so I wasn't able to charge it. I plugged it in as soon as I got home and left it overnight to charge. When I woke up, I was surprised to see that my phone would not turn on. The notification light just blinked twice continuously. Holding down the power button would keep the light steady for a bit then just continue blinking. I've tried autoloading the OS using one of those .exe files to no avail. From the brief moment that I could see the error message, I believe that my phone was rejecting the RAM image. Do you guys know of any way to reinstall the OS on my phone? Hope you can help! :-s Thanks!

First, connect your Z10 to the wall outlet charger, and leave it several hours to charge, and then with it STILL connected to the wall outlet charger, remove the battery and reinsert.
    What happens... any LED activity?

  • Bricked?  Red circle/dot LED indicator adjacent to speaker

Wife's iPhone acting up. Warm, tempermental boots/recharges despite repeated resets, and a red indicator shows up that noone seems to recognize: an incomplete circle like "c" with a dot in the middle, perhaps 2mm diam total, illuminated LED apparently, off-screen but on front panel to the immediate left of what I presume is the speaker slot (silver mesh slit at top of screen on face).
Once in a while I can get it to start up (cool in fridge, reset) but on connection with Mac it flakes out again. Contacts appear corroded (cuprous green moss).
Willing to toss/replace but she wants her un-synched data. Rogers won't repair, off-warranty. Arrggh.

Same problem, John -- though my number is 51. Do hope someone out there can be of help!

  • Bricked Z10

Hello, last Friday night, 06/06,  my phone was working perfectly until Saturday morning, I woke up, tried to check messages but hub froze, tried to reset, I couldn't, so I left the phone for a few minutes, it was blank, tried to turn on, the led went red, flash pause flash pause flash flash flash...so I tried to reload the OS using BB link but it keeps searching for updates forever, tried several autoloaders, all the same problem, it connects to bootrom and asks for password, led goes solid and off until I type and press enter, when I do it, NOTHING happens and the led blinks again, I try to restart it, hold volume + power button and keeps asking for password and again nothinhg happens, done in two PCs, with 3 different autloaders and 2 BB Links...what should I do?

If autoloaders won't connect to it then I'd say you better contact your carrier for warranty resolution.

    HELP!

I split this topic off from the 'D-Bracket LED explained' Good Article and moved to correct forum area for better assistance.
Please provide more info on your system as requested, as well as any other useful background info pertaining to this problem.
As for the LED colours, the LEDs used in the D-Bracket are dual-colour, usually green/red, but that's not to say that at some point that some D-Brackets were manufactured with yellow/red LEDs instead, in which case the yellow just replaces the green

  • Z10 won't boot

My Boss came up to me last week with a bricked Z10 saying he has all his passwords saved on his PasswordKeeper app ( Ofcourse there are no known backups....)
When you plug in the phone (USB or outlet charger) and hold the power button for 10 seconds the LED flashes red once really quick(It doesn't do anything if not plugged), then nothing happens. It isn't detected by any a computer either.
I already accepted the fact he will be breathing flames on me soon when he learns the phone has been on my desk for the last week, while i was researching possible fixes. No luck.
    Help me please.

My battery was at least 70% when I put in on the charger before going to sleep.... Unplugged it in the morning, and I watched it fade to its death.... Stone cold dead!
The real ridiculous thing here - this is the 3rd Z10 where this has happened! Now that the shock and frustration is wearing off, its just plain sad.
No one takes better care of their Blackberry than me. It's absolutely immaculate! I've had a Blackberry since the 6750 model so I guess the relationship has now come to an end.
Has anybody witnessed this for themselves? Has it happened to you AGAIN on several Z10's that were exchanged?
OH and by the way... For the short time that I've used the Z10 I thought it was awesome!!!  It's the best smartphone I've ever used...Just wished the battery last longer and it stop dying on me... I love this phone, but for some reason it doesn't love me. So I must say so long...

  • Z10 problem restoring data from back-up file

I recently had to restore my factory settings of my bricked Z10.
However, when I go to BB link to restore my last back up file, when I click Restore and say Yes to restored settings... it opens a dialogue box that says restoring my Blackberry (with the option to cancel) the blue line in preparation but then after about 30 seconds it disappears and is seemingly not connecting to the phone that is connected to the USB.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Link.
I have tried again restoring to factory settings.
I have tried testing to an older back up file.
I have been able to make a new back up file. Which opens up the dialogue box with the blue line and after about 15 seconds goes to the dialogue box saying backing up device... don't disconnect your device and it successfully create a new backup.
Please help with what I can do to restore my old back up file...

If you can't see anything on the screen, I am not sure how you can work with the phone.  Are you able to get the phone repaired?  I'm htinking about the options here.  I don't know if that will work.  Will you be able to get that phone repaired or replaced?

  • Laptop LED goes on but NOTHING after cleaning fan ... possible motherboard problems

So I took apart and cleaned my laptop. I thought it would go smoothly since I successfully did it last summer. However now I'm stuck in a situation where the power led goes on, but the laptop is completely silent except for spinning the fan every few seconds. I've tried putting in the memory and the hard drive, nothing! It's not the only situation I've found myself in - earlier after I dusted the heatsink/fan it gave a warning that the fan wasnt working. I think I solved that though, since the computer is spinning the fan, but I am pretty concerned for my laptop, so does anyone please have advice. Any would be appreciated here

    Hi @friedcomputerz2
OK, I see that your notebook will not longer bootup. It powers on, but does not proceed beyond a blank screen. I am happy to help with this.
If you are not getting any error messages, flashing LED patterns, or beeps, then this is where to start, especially with the Hard reset.

  • Z10 Screen Notifications

    Hi all,
I just got my new Z10 a few days ago.  Before having a Z10, I used Iphone.
I am wondering if it is by default that new texts, emails or updates from other applications won't get displayed on screen while in idle mode.
For iphone, if there is a new text, it will always pop up on the screen letting know.
But Z10 doesn't seem to do so.
I can see the icons showing when I swipe up to unlock the screen.
I have looked into Setting->Notifications tab, but there are only few options, 1.sound, 2. vibrate, and 3. LED.
    Am I missing anything ?
Or is it just how Z10 is designed (useing LED)?
    Thanks,
    Arthur

The Lock Screen shows you that you have new Email, voicemail, text message etc. Also the RED Let notifies you that there is a new message. The z10 is designed to have all your notifications in the HUB. To peek at your hub scroll left or do the guesture of up and right. At first everthing seems diffrent with the z10, but after several days of use, you realize what a great feature the hub is. The peek and flow is a great tool.  There is a couple of days of learning curve with a new phone and new OS, but for me , after 2 months now, I love it. The multi-tasking is truly amazing, the hub, the browser is the best on any smart phone,,  Play around with it for a while until you figure it out. There are a lot of hidden tricks that help you do things . There are some posts on tips and tricks in the forum.

  • BlackBerry Z10 keeps restarting

    Hi there,
When I try to boot my Z10, first the red LED turns on, then turns off and then the BlackBerry logo appears on the screen. After a few secs, it restarts and it shows the red LED again. That's endless and I haven't found any hay to boot the device. I've tried to reinstall de software via web, but it doesn't work.
    Any solution?

pauarge, since rebooting and reloading the OS hasn't worked for you, you may need to use an Autoloader file to revive the device. If you don't have a backup, you will lose all data and preferences.

  • Another Dead iMac - Flashing LED!

I have an iMac 700 which recently died. The display froze and upon reboot the screen would only show a faint raster - no chimes, no grey screen, just a faint repetitive buzzing noise. Most curious, though...the power button LED was flashing: 4 short flashes followed by a long flash (or vice versa). Anyone have any idea what my dying iMac was trying to tell me?

Usually, a flashing LED pattern means bad memory. But not in this case, as your memory was fully working before the problem occurred.
Typical problems that will cause this kind of symptoms, in order of things to try:
    1. Replace the mainboard battery and then reset PMMU and clear PRAM contents. See if this clear it up.
    2. Leave it unplugged overnight and see if you can get it to boot first thing in the morning.
    3. Follow the Apple troubleshooting guide and test for voltages, to ascertain whether it is a power supply problem.
    4. Repetitive buzzing noise and no video suggests it could be the iMac 'flyback transformer' problem. My understanding is that affects only the early (233-500 MHz) versions of the iMacs, but I could be wrong. Search the forum for more details about the flyback transformer problem, which is a monitor problem that I am told is expensive to fix.

  • LED error !!!

hi , suddenly  my LED  notification not working ,thus  i just flash my mobile but still not working , even when i flash it it was on ( orange light ) when i try to test it by use ( led pattern s/w )   it give me , ( exit  status : 65280 failed to  set red led current ) please if any one can support , thanks in advance

since you already flashed the device, ...
    BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING BELOW:
SETTINGS/NOTIFICATION LIGHT/AND BE SURE THAT IT IS CHECKED IN THE BOXES YOU WANT IT TO FLASH ON.
IF NOT, THEN CHECK THEM AND TRY IT.
IF SO, AND IT STILL DOESNT WORK, PROCEED BELOW.
connect to your pc in mass storage mode.
    open the Nokia N900/backups
and copy that to your desktop
then disconnect your phone from your pc and power down.
reflash your device with the current pr1.2 firmware, and BE SURE TO LEAVE OUT THE "-R"  so that it doesnt reboot.
imediately, without disconnecting or rebooting the device, flash the vanilla file.
also, make sure you download the vanilla file and flash the vanilla file right after and end that code with "-R" to have it reboot right after
that should clear any code issues you were having and probably came from installing some of the LED software that is available.
report back if that worked for you.
i am assuming since you said that you flashed already, that you know how to get the firmware and how to flash, so in an effor to save time, have not given specific details as to how.
