Bridge 5 32 & 64 bit cash compatible?

If you run both 32bit and 64bit Bridge 5, are the cache files compatible or do you have to have separate cache files for each system???

Bridge is only a 32 bit program, even though it is part of the 64 bit photoshop.

  • Bridge CC cache not compatible with bridge CS6

Starting the Photoshop CC adventure. First install was Bridge. First test was to see if the Bridge CC cache is compatible with Bridge CS6 cache. First result is NO.
      Test method:
      1. Set the Bridge CC cache location to the same folder I use for CS6, which contains 10+ gigs of thumbs for my library.
      2. Navigated Bridge CC to a sub-folder with about 30 images, see Bridge CC re-do the thumb extractions.
      3. Close Bridge CC, launch Bridge CS6, navigate to the same sub-folder, see Bridge CS6 re-do the thumb extractions.
      4. Close Bridge CS6, launch Bridge CC, still pointing to the same sub-folder, see it re-do thumb extractions again.
      5. Repeat steps 3&4, always with same result, a redundant re-generation of thumbs.
      Conclusion:
The actual thumbnail files in the cache are the same. But something happens in the index files (data/store) to make each version think it does not have thumbnails, so it re-generates them. IOW, when Bridge CC looks at the cache last used by Bridge CS6 it says "I have not been here, must re-cache", and visa-versa.
      Solution:
Must let Bridge CC have its own separate cache, so the two versions don't walk over each other. Must let Bridge CC re-cache everything, which for me (and most users I assume) will be a long and time consuming process.
Not much surprise here. The same was true for CS5 vs. CS6.

Not much surprise here. The same was true for CS5 vs. CS6.
Then it also should not be a surprise for you that this behavior already started in the Filebrowser (Bridge predecessor that came with CS1 and by far the most stable and fast cache ever in the history of Bridge) and has not changed since. Nor is it likely it will chance in the future.
Hence my advice to not use Bridge for long term DAM because you need to recache the lot every new version...

  • Illustrator cs6 64bits and bridge 64 bits can't start since last update on windows 8

Hi, I have windows 8 64bits on a clean install, I've installed Creative cloud (clean install) and works fine, until last Creative Cloud update. Now Illustrator and bridge 64 bits cant't start. I see a message just says "Illustrator stop working" while launching the software. The 32 bits version works, but this is not normal.
    any ideas?

Hi! thanks for your answer. But didn't work. I realized that if I minimize the screen to a half the illustrator goes really fast, but in the full screen windows goes insanelly slow. I have a 24'' monitor 1920x1200, wich is big, but is not very huge!
I've reinstalled the driver of graphic card, is a Quadro NVS 420 and other test is for example, right now I'm working on a AI file wich is a 56mb file, it has some jpg incrusted. When I delete the incsusted files works fast too...
    It's weird!

I see. In that case you may need to eradicate the SLStore folder so new activation data is produced and Bridge recognizes it. Refer to this:

  • Problem Adobe Bridge 64 bit or 32 bit and Wacom Intuos tablets on Win 7 or 8

I've recently started using the Wacom Intuos 5 tablet both at work and at home. I've enjoyed the experience for the most part, except for this one problem with Adobe Bridge.  I use the 64 bit version, but even in 32 bit the problem was apparent.  This problem appears in both Windows 7 and Windows 8.
    The Problem
After launching Bridge, attempting to select an image seems to lock the application.  You cannot select, double click, anything.  If you enable your mouse, the cursor becomes active and acts as if you had held down the mouse button and were dragging over objects.
    The Solution
After much searching I finally came across this link on Wacom's support site. It seems that if you have Windows Sticky Notes open, as I did on both machines, the Wacom tablet doesn't work as it should.  I didn't realize that Sticky Notes allowed for pen input on the notes, which I discovered attempting to edit text on them.
Shutting down Sticky Notes does indeed fix the Wacom issue.  The real question is why Bridge cares if Sticky Notes is open.

I'm having the same exact issue you've described here except that I don't use windows sticky notes
Anyone know if there are other applications that cause a similar issue?
    Thanks.

  • Bridge CS4 Colour labels - compatible with OS X Tiger labels?

    Hi all,
I use Photo Mechanic to cull images but want to start using Bridge CS4 too.
When I colour code files/directories in OS X, these labels don't appear in Bridge, but they do in Photo Mechanic.
Is there a way to get Bridge to recognise OS X Tiger's colour labels and vice versa?
    Regards,
    John

    Hmmm.
    I guess they're not compatible.
I'm currently doing a huge cull of stuff from the last few years, and I'm colouring the directories as I go. These colours show up in both PhotoMechanic and Finder, but Bridge is unaware of the folder colours. It's annoying having to keep switching to the Finder to see which directory needs processing next, as they all appear one colour in Bridge.
Adobe - can you please implement this feature? It's SO useful.

  • NOT 64-Bit Windows Compatible

I found out after purchasing the iPhone that the interface through iTunes is not compatible with the 64-Bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista.
I was lucky enough to have a spare computer (a machine I try new software with) and was able to activate it. The only problem is my music, calendar, contacts and all other information that I would like to sync is on my 64-bit Windows Vista PC.
The solution that Apple technician I got claimed that it would work (he was unaware of the issue). When he transfered me to his supervisor he claimed that it wasn't a big deal since he personally had only heard of one other call about this issue. He offered one solution: "You could downgrade to a 32-bit version of Windows." This is not a solution in my opinion.
They refused to offer any other help or to try to follow up with it in any fasion. They are unwilling to say if offering 64-bit Windows support is even being discussed. This leaves me with a dilemma: Should I assume since they are saying nothing that they aren't going to add support and return the iPhone at the end of the two weeks; or should I hope and pray that even though they refuse to comment on the issue a fix is in the works and risk having a useless communication center (which is what the iPhone was intended to be for me)?

Normally I see "AS IS" in reference to eBay auction items that have unstated problems.
True the information was there, but never in my wildest dreams did I think that 64-bit compatibility was a concern I needed to research (it was not stated in plain site originally and I'm not sure if it spells it out now on the product specs [http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html]).
I completely understand that future products/innovations/ideas/trade secrets/etc. should not be discussed by a successful company (that wishes to remain so) before a decision has been made. The fact is that support of a 64-bit OS is not a novel idea and is a standard consideration with driver development. There is no reason to not try to help out the users of a 64-bit OS by indicating if it is even a consideration. I am willing to gamble and keep it if Apple is at least considering the development of 64-bit OS support.
Thank you for the advice though. I am leaning towards returning it, or selling it on eBay "AS IS." (hopefully the friendly humor isn't lost in the text)

  • PS 5.0 moving to XP 64-bit - not compatible?

I've just migrated to a new work station that runs Windows XP 64-bit.  My Premier Pro, Encore DVD, After Effects, and Audition programs all installed without a hitch.  When I went to install my PS 5.0, I got an error message stating it will not work on this machine.  Any ideas?

Photoshop 5 is much too old to qualify for upgrade pricing to the current version.
Photoshop Elements might have similar features to such an old version of Photoshop -- if you don't need CMYK, LAB or 16 bit/channel.

  • V490 pci slot (64 bit) backwards compatible with 32 bit card?

As the subject states I have a pair of SunFire V490's that I need to put 32 bit fiber NIC's in. (Reason for 32 bit cards is that it is a one way solution and the company has not updated their tech www.owlcti.com )
It is my understanding that 64/32 bit cards/slots are usually interchangeable they just run at 32. Any help on the matter is greatly appreciated.

    Hi George,
    Thank you for responding.
Is the hot-plug issue just with all of your PCI cards or just some? I have two NI PCI-6514 cards in hot-plug slots that show up in the NI Measurement & Automation Explorer. Unfortunately, I have yet to test the I/O functions of the cards.

  • Bridge CS6 64-bit and 32-bit FREEZE on Launch

Now I am having problems with Bridge CS6 again.  Both 64-bit and 32-bit suddenly have the behavior of freezing on launch.  I get the application window open but no icons populate and I can't do anything in the interface.  Not even close the application.  I have to use Windows Task Manager to quit the application forcibly.
Not sure what's going on.  I went to the start menu and hit Ctrl+Bridge 64-bit to give me the options to reset preferences, dump the cache, and one other option that I also checkmarked.  Still no dice.
Can anyone help me out before Adobe Customer Support becomes available in 4 hours?

While searching for a set of files on my computer using traditional search in the gui i discovered that the indexing functionality of windows was turned off.   I tried to turn it on and search again but kept getting the error that indexing was turned off.  I went to the event viewer and saw hundreds of events related to this error.  I thought by suspicion that there might be a correlation between this windows malfunction and adobe bridge not functioning properly.  After finding an appropriate solution to reset the search functionality of Windows known as 1) Windows Search and also as 2) Indexing, I tried to run Bridge again and now it works just fine.  So the solution to the Bridge problem was to fix Windows Search and also fix Indexing of files.

  • How to remove Bridge?(Non 64-bit ver.)

I accidentally installed both Bridge and Bridge(64-bit). But I only installed Photoshop 64 bit, so I want to remove the non-64-bit one. How can I do that?

My "proposal" will cost you money.  My suggestion to the OP is to get a Mac.  Hoffentlich ist er (bzw. sie) nicht so empfindlich wie Sie.
Never capitalize MAC.  I'm sure you know that MAC means something entirely different in computing.

  • VPN Client and Vista 64-bit

We have several laptops that we need to install Vista on. We would prefer 64-bit so that we can really make use of the extra RAM these laptops have, however there is one program we require holding us back to 32-bit at the moment. Its the Cisco VPN Client. We have PIX 500 series hardware so we don't have any other VPN option right now.
All I would need to know is that Cisco does indeed plan to release a Vista 64-bit compatible of the software sometime soon (say in the next quarter).
Does anyone know if this is planned or not? Or is there some technological barrier keeping them from doing it?

  • Solution to connect calander to Windows Vista 64 bit without Outlook.

Ok, if any of you are like me you like to use all the functions possible on the nano. Unfortunately for me I have one of the most challenging systems to work with trying to get media onto nano from computer and vise verse. I’m running Windows Vista 64 bit and I wanted to sync the calendar from my computer onto my nano. Long story short is if you contact Apple support they will most likely tell you that you have to download Outlook or Outlook express. Unfortunately Outlook is not exactly cheap and Outlook Express doesn’t work on the Vista. So you will have to find a different calendar to use. Two options exist for us Vista users, neither of them is automatic, but at least you can use the calendar.
Option #1: Optional calendar to use is called Microsoft Works Calendar. It is already pre install on Vista and has an option to export the calendar as an iCalender. How to use it is you fill in the calendar, then go to File> Export> iCalendar. A box pops open called Export iCalendar File. In that box select All appointments, by doing that I believe it over rides the range option. Then hit OK. Then the Save As box opens and you will have to save it into your nano’s calandar folder. And hit Save once you locate the nano’s calendar file. There you are done. Now every time you make a change to the calendar on your computer you do the same steps but always save the calendar as the same name so it will over write the existing calendar on your nano.
Option #2: This option is similar as above but it allows you to use any calendar you have on your computer that can save the calendar as a .ics file format. Choose the calendar of your option but before wasting any time filling in the calendar first check to see if the calendar can be saved as a .ics type. If the calendar of choice doesn’t allow you to save that type of file then it will not work and you will have to choose a different calendar to use. Once you find the calendar to use then you can fill it in as you need to. Then go to File> Save as> and select the save as type to be a iCalendar File (*.ics). And Save in you nano’s calendar file. Now you’re done. Remember though every time you want to update the calendar on your nano you will have to save it as the same name so it over writes the calendar on the nano and updates properly.
I know this doesn’t sync up automatically but it is the only way to use the calendar on nano if you don’t want to purchase Outlook, cause Apple only programmed itunes to work with Outlook or Outlook Express and they do not have any other options available.
