Bridge auto opens PS CS6 rather than CC

I just upgraded from Photoshop CS6 to CC. When using the Tool Menu in Bridge, to perform a step in Photoshop (for example, create a Contact Sheet or Image Processor), my older version CS6 of Photoshop automatically opens to perform the function, rather than the newer version of CC. How do I change that?

Why does Firefox keep opening new Windows rather than a new Tab in the current window?

I have " Open a new Tab in the current Window" select in Preferences.
Why then does this version (Version 4) keep opening new Windows, rather than new Tabs in the current Window.
This feature worked fine in 3.6.1.3, but in Version 4, it is a frigging pain in the rigging!

I have CS4 but am installing CS6 rather than upgrading. Do I need to uninstall CS4?

There should be no problem, having two versions of PS installed. For nearly every program, and for decades, Adobe installers do NOT overwrite existing versions of any program - the installation is complete, and separate.
While I have not tested with PS CS 6, going back, I had PS 4.0.1, PS 7.0.1 and PS CS installed on the same computer. The first, was to do something, that was changed in PS 5.0, and that I used about twice per year. The latter two, were because I knew PS 7.0.1, and had just upgraded to CS, and was learning the differences (significant). I kept PS 7 around, in case a client called at 5:00PM with a revision, and the courier was enroute. I did not want to fumble with a new interface, when under deadline. Never had one issue.

ITunes opens to "Albums" rather than "Songs"

Hello to all. I am new to this community. I recently updated iTunes on my Macbook Pro. It now always opens up to "Albums" rather than to "Songs" and I can't find a way to change that setting so that it opens to the ""Songs" list. Is there a way to do this? Thank you.

as far as i know its yet another feature that apple have bizarrely removed from itunes
previous versions would simply remember what view mode you where in when you last opened the window
along with some other pretty major features removed from version 11 it makes me wonder why all the useful functions are being removed and simply no useful functions added ?

Cannot change preference for JPG file to open in browser rather than download Mac OS 10.5.8

I want to view individual jpg files uploaded to my mobileme account. The URL ends in .jpg. I can view the files as webpages in Safari, but with Firefox, my only choice is to download the file. I tried to change the preferences>applications>jpeg picture>to "use other" but the drop down menu goes right back to always ask. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, and restarted my computer. I have two other macs running 10.5.8, and this happens on both. When I type the same URL into my mac running 10.6.3, a dialog box appears that gives me the option of choosing which application to open the file with (in this case Firefox, so that I can view the file in a web page) rather than just downloading the file. The dialog box in the 10.5.8 doesn't give me the option of choosing an app, only "Save File" or "Cancel". I'm sorry if this is long-winded.

At this time that feature is not available. If you are trying to view Javadoc and Code at the same time you can try a split pane view that places both documents side-by-side.

I want to view my pictures in a separate tab through Firefox to copy them to my blog. As of now I can only open them in Picasa Photo Viewer, Windows Media center, and Microsoft Office.

Actually, the pictures don't open in IE, either. I just tried. The choices are Picasa Photo Viewer, Windows Media Center, and Microsoft Office. On my old computer, Firefox and IE were included in the 'Open in' list.

Access 2010 checking if a user has opened a zipped rather than expanded database

Is there a property or method that can be used to detect/ check if a user has opened a zipped copy of a database?
I distribute a zipped copy of a database and expect users to extract it before using it but some times a user simply opens the zipped copy and later encounters problems. I would like to display a message notifying the user that they must first expand the
zipped file before opening the database.

How can I get pdf documents to automatically open in Adobe rather than Nitro Pro?

Hi,
When I bought my PC it had Nitro Pro installed (a paid for PDF programme, that you get for free for 3 months). The free trial has now ended. However, any pdf document I try to open will automatically try to open in Nitro Pro.
To solve it, I save it to my PC, then ask it to open in Adobe reader. That works, but seems a lot of work. Surely it must be possible to somehow let the pdf doc know that it should open in Acrobat.
Any suggestions?

Highlight the PDF, right click and choose "Open with", click on "Choose default program", select Adobe REader then select "Always use the selected program to open this type of file".

Audio/Movie Files Open in QuickTime Rather than iTunes

I work with online classes at a college, and we have been posting m4a and m4v files in our online courses. we put the actual files on our Mac server and post the links to the files on course webpages.
Question: In the past, when students clicked on an audio/video link, they got the option to "Open/Save/Cancel" (on a Windows machine), or, if they had the files associated with iTunes, clicking the link would trigger the file to open in iTunes. Now, all the links are automatically launching with QuickTime with no options given.
We really need files to either open with iTunes or have the save option. Any ideas about how to stop QuickTime from grabbing the files?

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago, but nobody gave me a reply. I don't know if it helps in your case, but I eventually found out it was my firewall blocking the download.
I could view SD trailers but not the HD ones for some reason.

How can I force Excel hyperlinks to open Acrobat Pro rather than Acrobat Reader?

My Excel (2010) hyperlinks to PDF file always open the Reader...but I want these files to open in Acrobat Pro (X) so I can use all the tools.
Is this possible?
Can I uninstall the reader? Will that force Pro to be the default file opener?

Open Acrobat -> Click to 'Edit' menu -> Preferences -> General (Category)
Now click on "Select Default PDF Handler" button choose Acrobat X from the drop-down and then click apply.
It will reset Acrobat X as a default viewer and your all link will open in Acrobat then.

Tried everything, cannot get firefox to open new tab rather than new window. set options, cleared cache, rebooted. win 7 firefox v26

Win 7 64bit desktop.
Set tools --> options --> tabs OPEN new windows in new TAB instead checked.
apply/save .. tried from there, tried exiting firefox. tried clearing cache.
what else???

Links open in Dreamweaver rather than browser

Hi. For some reason any link I open in Adobe Flash or Air
apps will open in Dreamweaver and not my browser. Windows XP. These
are apps that have opened in the browser in the past. Seems like a
setting issue

PSD is opened in CS3 rather than CS5

When I try to associate my PSD file with Photoshop CS5, if will not take the association. If directs it to Photoshop CS3, and it does not allow me to change it. Any easy way to fix?

What are you doing outside the Encore and PrPro fora. You know it's not safe over here...
This is usually an issue of file association. Reading down, I see that you have Win7, so you will probably need to interpolate a bit here. In earlier OS's, one can set the file type association in Control Panel>Folder Options (think that the syntax has changed), and one could scroll down to PSD, and then choose the exact program (even by version number), that would always be used to Open that file type.
Now, I have seen a couple of instances, where things did not work, as they should, or where one's changes did not "stick." Not sure what the deal is there.
Regarding the various versions, the newer one (in the installation order) should set the file affinity, but sometimes it does not happen. In my case, this has only happened where some other (non-Adobe) has seized the affinity of that file type. QT Player is notorious for doing this. At one time, the default installation would go in, and set every possible file affinity to it. Bad move, and usually correctable by hand - though not always.
The only issue that I can recall with Adobe versions has been with PrPro CS3 and CS4. If one had CS3 installed, then installed PrPro CS4, and later uninstalled CS3 - CS4 broke (folders were removed, and they were needed by both programs). A Repair Installation of CS4 took care of this. Otherwise, there are very, very few issues with having several versions installed on the same machine. The last install always got the file affinity, as it should have been.
If you cannot make the setting in Control Panel, or if those changes do not stick, then you might want to do a Repair Install of the latest version.
