Bridge browser intranet bes issues

lets list here what we manage or do not manage to reach in the internal network from the bridge browser through the bes server and mds i.e. paired to a blackbefry smartphone ( not setting up a vpn through the normal browser through wifi )
i say this because it seems that you do not manage to reach evrything that you manage to reach through the ordinary bes blackberry smartphone.
eg. in our private network we have a bes and an exchange server and if i type http://myexchangeip/exchange/myusername/inbox on my blackberry smartphone i get a domain authentication request and if i provide the correct password i can access my exchange owa (outlook web access) mailbox view. if i type the same url on the playbook bridge browser i do not manage to access
although other internal urls work on both the smartphone and the playbook bridge browser
eg. bes5 webconsole url - nas webconsoles - hp printers web interfaces
i would have expected to see working also vnc servers java access, but doesn't
the only vnc server i managed to partially access is thinvnc a special web only version but this also only setting it to https with no authentication
i also have dell server management web consoles and hp ups power management web console that are on strange ports that do not work through the browser bridge
any ideas or better success?

I can access my exchange server by IP, Sonicwall, APC 3000 web interface, most printers, IP switch and more.
are you accessing by IP or DNS name? try Ip and see if it is better.

  • Bridge Browser and WiFi Browser Issues???

    Hey everyone,
I've had my Playbook since day one and I have been having issues that I can't seem to get resolved involving the Brdige Browser and WiFi browser.
On the Bridge Browser I can't browse to any webpages. I simply get a non-descript "Not Authorized HTTP://whatevertheurlwas.com" error message. Ive tried dozens of pages, reset the bridge, to no avail.
The other issue is with the WiFi browser. When I try to login to an Exchange 2010 OWA webmail site, I can't click certain check boxes (they arent grayed out, the clcik just wont function). Also - when I try and navigate to a SharePoint 2010 site I get an "Error - A network error has occured" message. It is accessible fine via an iPad, laptop, and desktop computer but not from the Playbook browser.
    Any ideas??

I spent about 3 hours with Support on this last night.
Explanation makes sense...could not verify it yet.
Bridge Browser by default uses "Blackberry Browser" to surf the net. If this option is disabled by BES Admin (assumption here is that you are on BES), you will not be able to surf the net. If you have BIS services also, your Blackberry  handset (assumption here is that you are on OS v6) tries to open a site through "Blackberry Browser" and then defaults through "Internet Browser"...which is why you are probably surf the net through your handset without any issues.
To verify this, install OS v5 and that gives you the option of picking the browser for your handset. If you get the same message after selecting "BLackberry Browser" on your phone...the above explanation can be confirmed. I am going to try it on my older Blackberry handset with OS v5 over the weekend.
Solution if the above explanation is verified:
Running the web browser in work mode
If the Allow Browser IT policy rule is set to Yes and you configure the BlackBerry® MDS Connection Service to connect a BlackBerry smartphone to the Internet and intranet, a BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet that is connected to the smartphone can run the web browser in work mode.
When the web browser runs in work mode, it does not use the Wi-Fi® connection that it uses when it runs in personal mode. Instead, the web browser can connect to the Internet or your organization's intranet using the smartphone's connection to the BlackBerry MDS Connection Service. The tablet encrypts any cached data that is stored on the tablet using the BlackBerry® Bridge™ work key.
A BlackBerry PlayBook tablet user can access the web browser in work mode by clicking the browser icon in the BlackBerry Bridge panel on the tablet, or by clicking on a link in a work application. When a user clicks a link in any work application, such as a link in work email messages, work calendar entries, the contact list, tasks, memos, or BlackBerry® Messenger messages, the web browser runs in work mode if any of the following conditions exist:•
    No Wi-Fi connection is available•
Web address does not contain periods•
MDS Browser Domains IT policy rule includes the domain of the web address•
Web address consists of a private IP address as specified in RFC 1918•
Value of the Wi-Fi Internet Access Path IT policy rule is set to "Access through BlackBerry MDS Connection Service"
If these conditions do not exist, the web browser runs in personal mode and connects to the Internet using a Wi-Fi connection.
The web browser cannot run in work mode if it cannot access the BlackBerry MDS Connection Service.

  • Bridge browser does not work to browse intranet sites

I can browser our company intranet sites with my blackberry phone but unable to browse the same sites via the blackberry bridge  on my playbook.. Can surf other external sites but unable to surf our intranet sites via the bridge browser.
Am I missing a setting? Or is this feature not supported yet?

According to KB26548, it should be able to connect to the intranet sites via the bridge browser.  If it's not, I would suggest checking with your IT department to see if they have any suggestions.
    I hope that info helps!

  • Bridge Browser icon missing - even though connected on BES

The Bridge Browser icon has disappeared off my Playbook.
Before you tell me it's OS2 it's not - the Playbook is connected to a BES smartphone, and I've had OS2 since I first got the Playbook and it's only now that the icon has gone.
I've tried a reset, I've tried re-pairing the tablet and the phone. All the other Bridge icons are there and the tablet is fuctioning normally other than this.
    Any help is much appreciated.

  • Playbook Bridge browser

I'm an happy user of the PlayBook since 3 weeks but since the begining, the Bridge Browser is not available.  The bridge is working well but the Bridge Browser is not visible.  I've a BES activated on my Blackberry 9800 (Torch).  I'm convinced that this is probably a setting issue on my mobile (Torch) but i'm unable to fix it.  It already tried to resend the service books, to wipe the mobile+tablet.  I also tried with the BIS (after the wipe) without restoring the settings.  I tried a lot of things, but the icon is not visible.  Do you know if it can be solved easily?

  • Bridge Browser Problem

    Hello Everybody
We are running BES 4.1 and MDS-CS is set to use a proxy.
On a handheld when you connect to the internet you are prompted to authenicate but when you try and use the bridge browser it seems to bypass the authentication and we just get a cache access denied message from the proxy server. I am the BES administrator and have tried various IT policy settings including assigning no policy. In the MDS-CS proxy setting I have tried adding a user name and password, this allowed the handheld to connect to the internet authenticated without prompting as expected, the bridge browser still gets the cache access denied because it is not authenticated.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
     Thanks

    Hi OscarVZ,
I used a Bold branded to your carrier with the same software on it as well as the PlayBook and was able to open several sites on the Bridge Browser (yahoo.com, google.com etc). I was not able to replicate this error.
I would suggest you contact your BES Admin. I actived my Bold on my BES and my IT Policy allowed me access to these sites. It sounds like a setting in your IT Policy that is preventing browsing external sites on the Bridge Browser.
Hope this helps and let me know what you find out.
    Thanks

  • New files not showing up in Adobe Bridge browser

Since mid-October all new images added to "My Pictures" file refuse to show up the Adobe Bridge browser box. This is infuriating!! I've got Photoshop CS2 and run Windows XP prof. Any help is appreciated!!

Thanks, but My issue isn't with the thumbnails..... the new folders are totally missing from "My Pictures" folder, when viewed in Adobe Bridge. I can get around this by opening individual images in the program provided with my camera, and then stipulating I want to edit it in Photoshop... but what a time sucking pain!

  • LOST BRIDGE BROWSING WITH 2.1.0.32 UPDATE- NOW GET CARRIER WARNING NOT ALLOWED

has this happened to anyone else, my carrier is Cspire and as soon as i upgraded message comes not allowed. This has always been the best feature of the PlayBook. With this bridge update the carrier can detect bridge browsing.

    Hey tbord,
This is by design as the native Browser provides the same functionality when bridged.  The Bridge Browser is present when connected to a BlackBerry® smartphone associated with a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server in order to allow browsing corporate intra-nets.
    Thanks.

  • Bridge Browser Missing

The Bridge application works well but the Bridge Browser Icon is missing.  All the rest of the icons are there and work fine but I have no Bridge Browser Icon.  Is it different from the regualr browser icon on the playbook?  Do I need to activate something on the phone to get the browser to carry over to the playbook?

I don't think that's the issue. From what I've seen, there is no longer an icon for Bridge Browser but I noticed Bridge Browser now appears to be automatic. Turn off WiFi and tethering on your Playbook and try loading a page. It should think for a second and then load running from your BlackBerry connection through the Bridge, but it won't tell you it's doing it. I tried it this morning because I was thinking the same, that I had lost Bridge Browser but sure enough it worked.

  • Tethering or Bridge browsing

I did so research last night after running into an issue with a website that I log into with a password for work.
Some sites such as the one above won't work with bridge browsing (I cant explain exactly why, but it has something to do with the way sites are compressed through your BB before they arrive on your Playbook through Bridge browsing)
It was neccessary for me to activate tetheringI checked rates with my service provider, 3 cent a MB so the odd time this is neccesary its no big deal.
The site works fine on wi-fi, as they don't get compressed then, Just through tethering. So if you have an issue on bridge brwosing, you might want to go this route

www.crackberry.com has more info regarding this topic.

  • Any Rogers Wireless customers in the house? Teathering and Bridge Browser

are you with Rogers and able to get your Bridge Browser working?
when I try to connect to isp.apn I get a message that I can not connect.  Is this something I need to call Rogers about?  I just assumed that teathering over bridge would be transparent to the carrier.  I guess not.
    8100, 8900, 9800, and Playbook owner

I use rogers wireless and believe what you are trying to do is setup internet tethering which is different then using the bridge browser.  from how I understand it the bridge browser will use the internet via your BES server which creates a secure connection and allows access to corporate web sites if allowed by your BES admin.
Internet tethering allows the apps on the playbook to access the internet using your blackberry data plan.  I have a BES data plan with rogers and this is how I use my playbook with my Torch.
However to get internet tethering to work you need to config a custom profile under
    options - internet tethering
you need to set the APN to internet.com
    username: wapuser
    password: wapuser1
You will now be able to tether your playbook and access the internet on the rogers wireless network.  make sure you have a decent data plan so you dont end up with a large data charge.

  • Bridge Browser on Playbook Not Working

I just got my Playbook, I love it! I connected the Playbook (OS 1.0.3.1.868) to my Curve 9300 (using OS 5.0.0.977 on BES) through bridging.  All Bridge functions work well EXCEPT the Bridge Browser.
When I type in a web page address in the Bridge Browser on the Playbook, it loads 1/4 of the way and then a popup window asks me to type a "File name" and "Save To". When I do (or cancel) nothing happens and I get a blank white screen with "No Title".
My Browser on the Curve 9300 is working fine.
    Please help!

I am on BES and it works for me, we dont have any fancy settings either.
I am wondering if it has to do with the way BES is routing data access on your device.
What is you default browser set to and can you surf on all default browsers?

  • Playbook Bridge Browser Network error

The Bridge connected fine to my blackberry and all bridge apps are working well EXCEPT bridge browse. With bridge browse i get the window launch and then:
    Error
    a network error occurred
    please try again later
No more information given by the browser. I would like to know if this is a bug or if it is possible that the playbook cant bridge with internet to my 9700 as if it is the later I will need to return the unit.

The big issue with it is going to be speed.  Bluetooth is going to be the bottleneck, but hopefully they can find a way to increase the speed.  It would be great if they could develop it to use a WiFi link between your BB and the PB, it would eliminate the bottleneck.
I would just be happy to have it load a page properly!

  • Bridge Browser thinks I am out of US"

I was testing the bridge browser on abc.com and recieved the message below. Has anyone seen this or similiar?
"You appear to be outside the United States or its territories. Due to international rights agreements, we only offer this video to viewers located within the United States and its territories".
I am located in the US and wonder if it comes from my phone.

Bridge uses the settings of BlackBerry browser.
When using the BlackBerry browser, it can use a Canadian IP address with BIS or the server IP address of BES.

  • Bridge Browser = "Cannot Download Corporate Files"

I Have ATT, got bridge app through work around, connects great, everything works except the bridge browser.. it gets me up to my favorites, but when i try to access a webpage, pops up: "Cannot Download Corporate Files"... Anyone else getting this message? Is this ATT blocking it?

I am also on AT&T--found the bridge workaround, and all worked swell bridged to my torch.
Today, after plugging into my laptop and dumping some photos onto my playbook, I now find that my bridge browers no longer works!  it gives me back this same message "cannot download corporate files" with any website that I try to go to.
I called the shiny new playbook support line, and they said they've never heard of this.
They had me delete the connection and bridge software, reboot both, and reconnect.   It lost the favorites I had already saved on the bridge browser (so it definitely wiped the old off), but same thing...the browser isn't working and still brings back this "cannot download corporate files" error message.
They said it was probably an AT&T bug and that they are working with AT&T to any day now get the bridge onto the appstore.
anybody else have any suggestions?  I was worried that this was a websense corporate IS issue with my company's exchange server, but now it sounds like potentially an AT&T blockage?
    thanks for any ideas.
