Bridge card game websites for Macs

I loved playing Bridge on the Pogo website. But since updating the Java , it is no longer supported. I hope Apple will create a "Bridge" App for the iMac. Any other suggestions. Can Java improve the update to support Pogo games?

You'd need to contact the Java Developer Oracle for this (Java is not an Apple software and has had its vulnerabilities exposed several times).

Having tried a number of bridge programs over the years, I have yet to find one that bids and plays well enough to let even a beginner learn about the game. I understand there are some PC versions that are somewhat better, but not one Mac program.
If I may suggest, however, playing online with other people who are interested in learning is a much better way to go about it, plus it is much more social. [OKBridge|http://www.okbridge.com] is an online bridge club that has been around since [1990|http://www.okbridge.com/new-signup/deployed/about.php] (yeah, it's about as old as the Internet) and has 13,000 members all over the world. I've played at tables with players from four different continents! There are complete beginners and world champions, and a wonderful friendly atmosphere.
Sad to say, [Pogo|http://www.pogo.com], while free, does not have the same ability to sustain a beginner. You can play, but be prepared to endure frustration. I play chess and backgammon on Pogo, but the bridge rooms are sorely lacking, and the level of play is terrible.

I do not recommend FunBridge it may be ok to play online but I used it for training on my Mac. It clearly states unlimited deals for Solo Training but cut me off. Said I "had no more deals, Do you want to buy some?"
I am a beginner & enjoyed practicing with it tho it has some glitches. When I tried to communicate with them they would not accept message saying I had an incompatble OS. Despite the fact I was in FunBrdige for Mac & checked proper OS. When I tried to complain on the review site they deleted my message & accepted only the rating. (I guess as I got a thank you). Something is wrong when you have no avenue for communication.
I tried FunBridge on my iPhone 4S and it plays the cards so slowly it is no fun. So I can't recommend it either.

Card index software for MAC

Does anyone know of some good software that acts like a card-index - somewhere I can store information about books that I read/reviews/quotations? I've tried 'Googling' card-index software for mac, and various other permutations, but not come up with anything that looks any good - or at least I have, but it only works on Windows!
Any suggestions very welcome!

Does it have to use a Card Index metaphor? There are many many snippet managers, that will grab things from, say, a web page and store them, index them for fast searching. They will also allow you to make notes etc, or annotate the clippings.

Desperate for good bridge card game software - any suggestions?

I bought my parents a new 20 inch Intel iMac for Christmas. My Dad likes it but doesn't understand why his bridge game software that we used on his 1999 blueberry iMac (using OS 9) can't work on his new computer. My dad is a sophisticated bridge card player and an unsophisticated computer user. Any help - I am desperate.

Which video card to buy for Mac Pro and AE CS3

I am about to purchase a new Mac Pro and am curious which video card to buy - particularly when it comes to rendering speed.
Apple offers the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT with 256MB of GDDR3 as a standard option, with the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT with 512MB of GDDR3 as a $150 BTO option.
I primarily use AE CS3 using adaptive resolution in lieu of Open GL. The projects are very 3d intensive. My initial thought is that the NVIDIA card has more VRAM and would be a better pick - but would my $$$ be better off toward more RAM? Does using CS4 make a difference?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. And yes, I have searched the forums but have not found anything definitive.

Personally, I'd buy more RAM. The standard display card supplied with the Mac Pro will have perfectly good specs for AE and Prem Pro.
Yes, CS4 should render faster than CS3.

Game Controller for Mac?

I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum. Is there a forum for gaming?
I am looking to purchase a game controller for our Mac for games like Call of Duty 4 and Madden. My son wants the xbox 360 controller and I found online elsewhere (tattiebogle.net) that if I buy that one I have to download a driver for the OS X. Is this correct and is this safe to do? Is there another game controller that will work just as well or better that you would recommend?

These forums are for questions about Apple products, and Apple doesn't produce any games. With all the other gaming sites and forums available, Apple has apparently decided not to burden its forums (already the most heavily trafficked ones anywhere on the Web) with gaming. Driver update problem - which new nVidia card to buy for Mac?

I have an old NVidia GEForce 9400 M driver running in a Mac OS X Mavericks Version 10.9.5, that will not work for Creative Cloud and I can not find an updated driver. Any suggestions as to what NVidia graphic card I should replace it with if a driver update can not be found?

Does anybody know a mac compatible game pad for my IMac (OS X 10.7 core 5) so that my son and I can play LEGO Harry Potter, Batman and Indiana Jones, downloaded from app store?

Games in Mac, well, suck. It's disappointing, especially when developers do a 3rd-rate job of brining existing PC games over to X.
I have the same MacBook as you, napoleon. Here's the kicker - Your Intel X3100 video drivers are BETTER in Windows than it is in Leopard. Even the dock in Leopard is choppy. Makes me regret my MacBook purchase at times (though so many other positives!).
It saddening that you can't avoid Windows, especially when you only want to play a few games.

Graphics card upgrade options for Mac Pro (early 2008) Model 3.1

What are my options if I wish to upgrade the stock graphics card? I seem to remember there being one that was about £80 but I can no longer check as the site is only listing the 2009 mac pros now.

Presumably the new ATI 4870 will work in the Early 2008 MP, but requires OS X 10.5.7 which is not yet released. You can find benchmarks at Bare Feats.
