Bridge CC freezes

Since a few days I experience the following problem:
When I try to open a folder in Bridge CC which contains GIF images, it freezes. After removing the GIF file from the folder with Explorer the folder opens in Bridge without a problem and the program works fine.
Can anyone enlighten me on this...?

work for me...
By the way, I am using Windows 7 64 bit...

Bridge CS4 freezes when I open a folder with avi files

Whenever I navigate to a folder with avi files, Bridge CS4 freezes. I have tried resetting my preferences, changing the file associations, but it still hangs. Both Windows and Bridge are set up to associate avi files with VLC Media Player. The files open and play just fine in VLC. I am running CS4 on a Win XP Pro machine. It used to not be a problem and I could play avi files in Bridge. I'm not sure when the problem started since I don't shoot a lot of video. Any ideas?

Thx for that im gonna try it....but is there a way to do it without using toolbar or cmd-c...? i mean using only the mouse?why does it have to highlight the file even though i click a bit next to it....?using icon view i can right click next to the folder and i wont have a problem but with list view that i prefer using it will highlight the whole row.....and i dont find free space to right click cause i got many files

Browse animation effects causing Bridge to freeze

Every time I select browse effects from the animation menu, Adobe Bridge launches (as expected).
When I navigate to the "Text/Blurs" folder and open it, Bridge freezes.
I know I can add an effect to my text without resorting to Bridge, but I'm following
Adobe's Classroom in a box and selecting this method to preview an effect is
causing Bridge to freeze.

Make sure your AE and your Bridge are up to date. There was a problem in earlier builds. Also, the Animation Effects previews in Bridge are resource intensive little buggers. Make sure that you have allocated an even number of MB of ram to other apps and you're not starving your system. If you only have 8 GB give 4 to other apps and 4 to AE, if you have 16 then you can give 4 to others and 12 to AE.

Bridge CC freezes and I cannot reset preferences

Built a new PC with Win 8.1. Downloaded CC. Bridge, which I use professionally, keeps stalling. Using arrow keys on keyboard to navigate photos doesn't work: push an directional arrow key and Bridge goes into clocking mode (freezes while mouse cursor spins). Bridge has crashed multiple times causing my PC to reboot.
The Adobe Help suggests resetting Preferences by pushing Shift+Ctrl+Alt. I do that and Bridge goes into clocking mode, but the reset preferences dialog never appears.
Steps I've taken so far:
The CC component is installed on my SSD drive, while all of the CC apps are on my WD Black hard drive. I noticed Bridge is using cache on the SSD. I created a new cache dir on the WD hard drive, but that didn't resolve anything.
I disabled all startup scripts. No improvement.
I uninstalled and re-installed Bridge. No improvement.

Having spent my entire day troubleshooting, I have determined that I am combating 2 separate issues:
1) Bridge CC freezing when navigating menus and photos, lengthy freezing when navigating photos in Content window with arrow keys. <-- RESOLVED
2) Bridge CC and LightBridge CC crashing and causing PC to reboot when attempting to utilize cache containing RAW photos.
For #1, I have nearly identified the culprit. I removed the brand new Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 video card and uninstalled the GeForce 344.11 driver set, and am now using the onboard video (Intel Graphics HD). I re-installed Bridge CC and now the freezing has completely vanished. So the issue is either the latest driver or the GeForce card itself, or both. I plan to return the card.
For #2, I think the issue is totally associated to the Adobe cache mechanism. Screenshot of LR error after LR crashed and PC rebooted...

Bridge CS6 freezes when generating PDF output (windows 8)

I am using Adobe Bridge CS6 (64bit) on a Windows 8 machine. I have photos that I want to output to PDF. Bridge will freeze in the process of generating the PDF file. I have to go to the Task Manager to quit. Sometimes the PDF file has been made successfully when I look for it. Other times not.

What filetype do you use?
Output (as Bridge itself) can be very processor demanding on a big task and enough RAM and free space left on start up disk.
How much RAM and free space do you have?

Bridge CS5 freezes when using 'reveal in explorer'

Bridge CS5 freezes when you select a file and try to "reveal in explorer". The command does work, it does reveal the file in explorer but then the bridge window turns white and freezes. It usually doesn't happen in the first time you click 'reveal in explorer', but if you do it enough (3x or more) bridge will freeze eventually.
I'm going back to Bridge CS4.
*I'm using Bridge CS5 on windows 7 Professional 64 bit

This sounds like a memory thing. Check the spare space on the HD (it should never be more than 75% full), defrag the harddrive, clean out your trash bin,check to see if you paging file is installed, and your RAM is working properly.

Bridge cs6 freezes when i select video files

Was hoping someone could help me solve this problem
I just installed CS6 master collection however am having a problem with bridge
even though bridge displays thumbnails of my avi files, every time i click on an avi file to select it bridge hangs/freezes and i have to force quit
this also happens when i select all in a folder that has avi files or other video files in it
it even happens when i select a folder that has a video file in it..it just hangs and stops responding
i still have bridge cs5 installed and it is displaying all files in folders perfectly including video files
the avi files are from my camera therefore they are really all around 1-3mins long
OS: Mac 10.6.8
i7
media stored on external hardrive firewire 8

i followed your instructions and after restarting bridge it actually let me select the folder with the video files...it displayed the first 19 preview extractions with their thumbnails in the content pane in less than a second
then it took 40 minutes to show the next 80 and with these there were no thumbnail preview files
it took at least a minute after clicking on a video file for bridge to select it and tho it did display the metadata there were no preview in the preview pane
after restarting bridge a second time..i encountered the same problem as before...inability to even select the folder with the avi files
i dont know if this will help but these 3 error messages appear everytime it hangs ( i don't understand what they mean but maybe you do)

Document type .obj causes bridge to freeze

headline sez it all. in bridge cs4, if i navigate to a folder that contains an obj - bridge freezes. if i remove that file type from folder all is well. bridge preferences doesn't appear to have a 'file type association' with .obj. if i change the application associated with .obj(now it's photoshop cs4) to another app like modo, bridge still freezes. is there a way to add a file type to bridge? how can i get bridge to accept this file type?

If the file type is not in the list you can't add it your self I'm afraid. A
quick search on Google told me that it is probably a 3D file?
You have set it to open with PSCS4 but can you open the file in there? I
doubt that but if so you should be able to view the same file in Bridge.
Then there might be something wrong with that particular file. Do you have
more files with the same file type?

Bridge now freezes

I have been using CS-5 extended for several years without any issues. Bridge now freezes completely when any directory or folder change is attempted (small activity icon turning on the bottom left of screen). No mouse action will activate any part of the software. The software works perfectly as long as a directory change is not attempted.
My only recourse is to use Task Manager to end the entire program once the software freezes. I don't want to completely uninstall PS. Is there a solution to this problem? Mini-bridge (from inside PS) does not work either as it's trying to access Bridge.
Please respond asap with a solution. CS5 continues to work flawlessly, and I don't know the cause of this bridge problem. I have a complete virus suite and have not detected any problems on the PC.

I'm not sure that I understand about "files not being changed in the process." Isn't a fresh install going to start the entire suite as it's new (out of the box)? Are there remnants still remaining after a clean "uninstall" that will re-start the "new" bridge program with (the old) file interface errors?
I have not uninstalled and re-installed the software suite as your "reset bridge" using the cntrl button during bridge start fixed my problem.

Adobe Bridge CC Freezes Every Time

Please help, Bridge CC is basically unusable! It has been this way since I installed it.
I have followed these steps several times and no success:

Basically every time I open Bridge CC, if I navigate through a few folders it freezes. I am not trying to do anything crazy - just view some files or presets. The files are just small jpgs and a few gifs so nothing massive, but most of the time I don't get a chance to click on any files, just folders before it freezes.
I have no other versions of Bridge open. I have looked through the forums here and the only options seem to be cache related, which I ahve tried both manually and included in the help page above.
I am on an iMac with OS 10.8.5 running CC with 11 apps installed.

I have followed these steps several times and no success:
There are a lot of steps mentioned but not to try a new user account for testing. And did you already used Apple Disk utility to check and repair permissions?
Also you can delete both plist and cache file for Bridge CC from the user library manually, did you try that also?
Be aware that the user library per OSX7 is hidden, use menu go with option to reveal this library.
Quit Bridge and in the preferences folder of the user library look for the Bridge6.plist file and drag this to the trash.
Then in same user library go to Caches / adobe/ BridgeCC and inhere delete both plug in and cache folder to the trash. Restart Bridge holding down option key and choose reset prefs and then try again.

Hi guys i'm having a big problem with Adobe Bridge CC.
I'm on creative cloud educational, my bridge version is 6.0.1.6
Macbook pro 13 I7 (2012), 8 Gb ram, osx mountain lion 10.8.5 550 gb free space on my hdd.
Every time i browse to a folder that contains audio files, it doesn't load the thumbnails and freezes. Also the same happens with the effect folder for adobe after effects.
Currently, i can't access folder that cointains video and audio files. Thumbnails don't load and i have to force it quit.
It's a big problem to me, since bridge is the main program i use in combination with after effects, i MUST be able to see fast preview for audio and video files.
I've already tried emptying the cache folder or resetting the preferences, but nothing changed.

Assuming you have the latest Quick Time installed (version 10.2) using software update for MacOs?

Can you specify this, purge using menu or preferences is not the same as manual deleting the complete cache folder and plug in for Bridge CC from the User library caches folder.

Bridge CC freezes my computer!

I just updated my Adobe Bridge CC (to version 6.1.0.115, I guess). After that my computer freezes if I try to start any Adobe CC software. All other softwares work fine.
Before I upgraded Bridge CC I used InDesign CC and Photoshop CC without any problem. What I shall do?!?
Computer: Apple iMac 27"
OS: Mac OS X 10.6.8

Problem is this: Adobe Application Manager provides an incompatible version of Bridge CC. Newest version don't support Mac OS X 10.6.8!
So, how can I get back Snow Leopard supported version of Bridge CC?

Adobe Bridge CS6 - Freezing

When I open bridge it starts putting up thumbnails, and then freezes. I upgraded from CS5 to CS6 and it's been doing it since my initial installation. It worked fine when I only clicked a small folder with a few files, but when I clicked my DropBox folder where all my images are, it just sits and then freezes saying 'not responding'.
