Bridge CC not usable at all

Bridge CC continually reacts with "not responding" when anything is clicked on. Once BR opens, whatever I click on, the mouse pointer just revolves and BR reports "not responding". This goes on for between 2 and 5 minutes. If I click again a 2nd time screen goes opaque, and clicking a 3rd time, Bridge CC crashes. Photoshop CC itself seems to work o.k. Can anyone help with this problem?

Moving this discussion to the Creative Cloud Download & Install forum.
Prado302 which operating system are you using?  It is likely if you complete the steps in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html you will regain use of your Creative Cloud applications.

  • Bridge CS3 not displaying images all of sudden

So I use Bridge as my image browser and then open images in PS3 for editing. So today, folders full of photos that I have been working on no longer display in Bridge. It gives an accurate items count in the lower right hand corner, and most folders on the hard drive will populate thumbnails and display, but others, particularly newer folders show nothing like they are empty. I've tried purging caches, but to no avail. The images display in finder so I know they are there. No filters are on to keep me from seeing the images. Any ideas?

Wow, one more development. If I double click somewhere in the main browser window in actually opens a photo in PS3 (as I have it set to do, and do often during workflow). Still, there is NOTHING to indicate there are any thumbnail there to click. Hmmm.

  • CS5 Bridge will not open, Air will not install, and AAM Updater will not update.  Please help!

I am having several problems with CS5, and as best I can tell they all seem to be related.  I purchased CS5 about a month ago.  Photoshop has opened and ran fine.  However, recently AAM notified me some several updates available.  When I tried to update them they all failed.  This lead to the discovery that Bridge will not open at all, Air installs but with an error and cannot update itself or applications like Adobe Help, and since the AAM updater ran it now thinks everything is up to date.
I have search endlessly for every piece of information I could find on this issue.  As well as, sat on the phone with tech support for hours.  As best I can tell, (and really I have no evidence to support me), it seems to all be related to a permissions issues.  However, I have tried everything the forums suggested with no luck, and Tech Support ended with me doing an Uninstall and reinstall (twice), while repairing permissions in-between.  I am about at the end of the road with this issue and would greatly appreciate any additional suggests you could offer.
    Some additional details.
Running a MBP i7, 8GB RAM, and MAC OSX 10.6.4
    Bridge Issue,
When attempting to launch Bridge it simply returns an error "This operation could not be completed..."  I tried the option click and reset method, no luck.
    Air Issue,
Kind of works, but at the same time doesn't.  In that in one of the previous installations programs like Adobe Help would not run.  Now Help does run, however, when I go to update Air it says it completed successfully but then immediately gives me an error saying "~this may not be allowed by the administrator..."  I also cannot update Adobe Help, it just sits and says preparing to update.
    AAM Updater Issue,
This appeared to work fine until I attempted to install an update.  It downloaded everything and then failed on the install.  However, now it thinks everything is up to date, but nothing is.

Well despite not getting much love on this forum.  I was able to correct the problem.  I tried every solution that google would produce on these issues.  Ultimately it came done to permission issue.  I was lead to this fix by a person on flickr that suggested permissions as the cause.  However, his solution was to modify the permissions in the home directory root and apply them to every subsequent folder in the home directory.  Although quick and easy, I felt this would lead to more trouble then it was worth.
I did some more digging and what I discovered is that all the permission of the Adobe folders in the home directory library (not the HD library) and the application folder did not match all the other folders in those areas.  Some of the files in some of the folders did not match either.  So I made them match (the ones that matched I left alone), and everything seemingly went back to working normally.  It was a bit of a pain going folder by folder.  Fortunately there where not many of them.  About 8 in total, plus the internal folders.

  • Adobe Bridge's search engine is not good at all. How Can I improve it?

Adobe Bridge's search engine is Horrible! Is there any plugins or setting tweaks to make the search engine better? When I search for "woosh" in bridge under my SFX folder it comes up with 10 results. When I do the same search using windows explorer it comes up with over 100 woosh sounds. And I'm searching the exact same location for both searches. I've noticed that if the file name is written "Woosh_17" or "Woosh17" or anything where there is no space after the key word, bridge will not find it. Is there anything I can do to make bridge's search engine work better?
    I am using Bridge CC
    Windows 7 64 bit

Unless your iPhone is jailbroken, there is no spyware on it.  There is no way for spyware to be downloaded or installed.  You don't really explain why you think you do.  As far as I can see, the Fortinet app is just an app providing information about their services - it isn't performing any functions on the phone itself.  Not clear what relevance you think the Norton security on your computer has to do with it.
You might want to do something about that bug that is extracting all the punctuation from your writing though.....

Trying to reset preferences of an Adobe application by clicking a Desktop icon has never worked for me - not Bridge, not Photoshop, not any. However, THIS always works for me:
    Try this:
    1) Press and hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift, and do not release them until I tell you to.
    2) Select the following menus: Start => All Programs => Adobe (whatever suite) => Adobe Bridge CS3.
    3) You're still holding down the three keys, right?
    4) In a few moments, the Reset Settings dialog will appear containing three checkboxes.
    5) Finally, release the Ctrl+Alt+Shift.
    6) Turn on all three checkboxes and click OK.
People swear by the Ctrl+click icon method, but that has never worked for me.
You can also delete the cache manually:
    1) Browse to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\{your name}\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS3
    2) Delete the Cache folder found there.

  • .xmp not recognized by Bridge CS 5.5.  All previous solutions here not working for me.  Please help.

First of all, this issue has existed for me since CS4.
When I load an .nef file into photoshop from bridge, it opens in camera raw.  Once I edit that photo and send it to photoshop, an .xmp file is created and those changes should show up in bridge, but they don't.  Looking in my folder of raw files, I can see the .xmp file.
To make matters more confusing, this only occurs with one of my two cameras.  I have two seemingly identical Nikon D300s DSLRs.  One with a 14mm and one with a 70-200 zoom.  Bridge's issue with failing to recognize .xmp files only occurs with folders that contain photos shot with the camera with the zoom lens.
I have exhausted all of the solutions I have been able to find on this forum: telling my mac to open .xmp files with Bridge, telling Bridge to always use high quality thumbnails with 100% preview.
    Can someone please help?

I have exhausted all of the solutions I have been able to find on this forum: telling my mac to open .xmp files with Bridge, telling Bridge to always use high quality thumbnails with 100% preview.
For several years ago I decided to convert all my CR2 Raw files (I use Canon) to DNG upon ingestion of the files. Not only is DNG an open standard and therefor will it be long supported but mainly because I was growing mad of all the side car XMP files. DNG stores the XMP info into the file itself. No more hidden files no more mistakes in copy files leaving XMP lost in a folder, etc. etc.
Although it is strange one dSLR has this problem and the other not I don't think it is lens related as Curt kindly suggested. To my knowledge lenses affect the EXIF data and Bridge creates the XMP Data as a sidecar file (by default selected in the Camera Raw preferences) with rating, labeling and ACR settings.
By default Bridge also does not show hidden items (that XMP files are). Could you double check with Raw files from both cameras next to each other and after having altered them both in ACR (i.e. plus 2 in exposure to make a real difference) and in the Bridge menu view show hidden files (sort Bridge on filename for easy viewing).
And if one is not showing the altered result could you click on it and with right mouse click menu check 'purge cache for selection and see if this changes things.  (If the changes are there in PS as Curt already asked this might also help)
Could you also convert both files to DNG (Adobe has a free DNG converter for download (see also this link or Google it):
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html
And could you provide a short summary of the solutions you already tried (all previous solutions is a little vague :-) )
Having set XMP to open in Bridge is not important, XMP is not meant to be opened by the user, Bridge uses it to read and write but other apps also. For instance I just tested on an old CR2 file with XMP and by default it opens in Adobe Photoshop Elements (also on my system like CS5 Suite, Aperture and Lightroom) as I discovered using the get info command. Bridge wasn't even on the list for possible opening options :-)
Also 100 % preview will not help, it just slows things down very much because the cache needs much more time to build and the cache file will grow to huge proportions...
Only if you want to use to compare all files at 100 % you might benefit from that setting.

  • Mail in 10.6.4 not usable: it consumes all CPU time and will not quit

Mail application does not work properly.
It eats up most of the available CPU time (till >300% on my machine), becomes unresponsive and will only quit when killed by a force quit in the Activity Monitor.
I have only two accounts set up. One Gmail account and a google apps one.
I used to synch with a Blackberry but now I synch directly through google apps.
The problem was sporadic at best at first but has become the usual behaviour now. Major change has been installing 10.6.4
I have switched to Thunderbird since Mail is not usable.
Tx for any hint on how to solve this issue

It seems to be a recurring issue with 10.6.4...there's probably not much mere mortals like us can do. I haven't found a solution. Try re-installing 10.6.4.

  • Adobe Bridge CS4 Not converting camera raw files right?

I run an HP computer with Windows Vista 64 bit and have CS4. We also have a Canon 40D camera and shoot in camera raw format. When I download the images Bridge converts them into usable images. The last two times I've downloaded images, after converting them, Bridge showed a few of them as either not readable at all or with large chunks of the image whitened out. My husband shoots college football games and takes anywhere from 300 to 600 pictures at each game. October 14th was the first time we had problems, 5 or 6 shots out of 250 were showing up as corrupted. This last weekend there were 15 out of 307 images corrupted. Thinking that the card is going bad or we have a problem with the camera, we purchased a card rescue program Sandisk recommends to see if we could recover any of the images. It shows that all 307 images are on the card and in good condition. But, when I ran the recovered file through Bridge there were 31 images that are showing up as corrupted. I'm beginning to think there might be a problem in the conversion process and that it is getting worse each time it runs. Is this possible and if so, what can I do to correct it?
    Thanks for any help,
    Linda

Thanks Curt for the quick reply.
After a very stressful afternoon it appears that the card recovery program I downloaded just accesses the thumbnails on the card when it previews them, not the actual images. It would have been nice if they told me that before I forked out the money for it, but.... So although it was telling me they were there, they were not. It wasn't until I viewed the files in Bridge that the corrupt images were showing up. It is also showing more corrupt images than actually are. When I view the card in Bridge I'm still seeing the original corrupt images. We are leaning toward a bad battery grip with our camera. He is going to shoot without it the next time he does a game and see if we still have the problem.
    Thanks again for your reply.

  • Adobe Bridge is not fuctiong correctly, I need to reinstall CS2

I have Adobe CS2, I recently took a ton of pictures in Large and Raw with my Canon Camera. When I upladed then to my computer and wanted to work on the .RAW images my Bridge will not allow me to adjust the .RAW images.  I am assuming I need to reinstall my CS2.  How do I do this with out losing my activation codes.
    Thank you

No, do not uninstall/reinstall.   What you need to do is reset preferences.   Hold down the Crtl key and start Bridge.  You will get a reset window, choose all 3 options.  That should get you back to normal.

  • Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my Canon Mark III 5D Camera.

Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my new Canon Mark III 5D Camera.  How can I get my files open to view and edit?  I am using LR3, Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3.  Do I need to upgrade these programs or is there another way to get these programs to recognize my files?
When I try opening the raw images in Lightroom, the thumbnails say "Preview unavailable for this file"  ... when I click "import" an error message pops up that says "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
When I try opening the raw images in Photoshop, an error message pops up saying "could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
When I try opening the raw images in Bridge, it just shows an icon with the file name and CR2.
    Please help!!!

Unless I missed an announcement, today, LR6 isn't available, yet, right?  Only Adobe employees and beta testers would know what LR6 does differently at this point and they're all sworn to secrecy.
LR5 is available as a standalone version.
    PS-CS6 is available as a serial-number-licensed version.
PS-CC + LR5 are also available as a Photography Plan subscription for $10/month with a minimum OS versions of OSX 10.7 (and probably 10.8, soon) and Windows 7.
Bridge is part of PS, not a separate program.
LR5 standalone and LR+PS-CC plan are both available on this page:  http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software.html
PS-CS6 can be found on this page:  Creative Suite 6 which can be found by searching www.adobe.com for Photoshop CS6 and clicking the Buy link in the on-the-fly search results.
As with any new Adobe software, it might be wise to run it in trial mode for a few days/weeks to see if it works well with your computer, before purchasing and finding out you might need a new computer, first.

  • Bridge does not show my Camera Raw Adjustments in previews or thumbnails.

Bridge CS6 on my Mac is not showing my Camera Raw adjustments in a preview pane or thumbnail.
Here's how it worked until recently:
    I open a .CR2
    I make some adjustments
    I click "Done"
The thumbnail and the preview show the adjustments I made
    Now, it works like this:
    Open a .CR2
    Make adjustments
    Click "Done"
The preview and thumbnail don't show all the adjustments. I can't see the results of noise removal, but I can see a drastic change in Exposure
If I double-click the CR2 file, it opens in Camera Raw, and I see all my adjustments, including noise removal.
Here's what I've tried, but saw  no difference (I restarted Bridge every time):
    Purge Cache
    Purge Cache for Selection
Replaced Camera Raw plug-in as described here: Camera Raw 8.4 | No metadata or Camera Raw edit
(Doing so made Camera Raw disappear in Bridge, so I restored the original file)
    Reset Preferences
    Reset Standard Workspaces
All the above fixes were inspired by this thread: Re: Bridge CS6 not showing Camera Raw adjustments
Why don't I see the noise removal effect in the previews? I am sure I saw it a few weeks ago. I rely on that, to help me sort and cull photos.
    I'm hoping there's a preference toggle that I accidentally changed. It's definitely a puzzle. (Version: Bridge CS6 5.0.1.21 5.0.2.4)
Message was edited by: moonatwork after updating Bridge version. I tried all the above fixes again, after updating Bridge. It actually got worse. I tried replacing the Camera Raw plugin, which failed as before. I then restored the previous plugin, as before, but Bridge now fails to honor the preference, "Double-Click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge" and instead always opens Photoshop.

Thanks, Omke. I tried updating, then applying all the same fixes to the updated version. No change.
I can attach a screenshot, but I must block out names and faces. All you'll see is my Bridge interface, not the faces in the portraits. Hope that helps.

  • I am running a TRIAL VERSION of Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended and Bridge does not open.  Help?

I am running a TRIAL VERSION of Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended on MAC and Bridge does not open.  It did open when I first downloaded it - but now a black question mark is over the BR icon and it does not open up.  Any ideas from anyone?

    Hi Steve -
I just thought it was interesting and helpful to me to learn that the icon for Bridge does not appear anywhere.  Not in Application Folder.  Not in the Finders Directory Files.  I see your point - if I could locate that icon - I'd be set by dragging it onto my DOCK and launching it from there.
So - I'm assuming I need to uninstall CS6.   Please list all the steps for me to uninstall so that I don't miss any CS6 files.
When I search in FINDER for CS6 uninstall- I see two icons -  red adobe "UNINSTALL ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS6" (both files are identical)  Under KIND they both say Alias - with two different dates they were last opened (in November - few minutes apart).  Is that what I use to uninstall completely all the files related to PS CS6 Extended as well as Bridge?
Do I need to DEACTIVATE ANYTHING ANYWHERE?
DOES ANYTHING NEED TO GO INTO TRASH.
I just want to make sure 'everything' related to CS6 Extended is off my computer and out of all the files.  In the event i want to re-install - naturally I don't want to run into any conflicting 'issues'.
Do you think if I reinstall I will run into this same problem again (BR not launching)?  Is there anything I can do to prevent it?  I note on the forums - going a few years back - that there have been a lot of issues related to this same problem - even in other versions of the Creative Suite.  Is Adobe doing anything to rectify this problem for us Photoshop CS Suite lovers or is all their focus just going into CC?
Thank you so much for trying to help me resolve this issue.  It is very frustrating to have an Adobe product that is not completely functional.  Especially when the Creative Suites are so expensive.  I appreciate all the time you've put into this issue.
    Carole

  • Mac CS6 Bridge will not open

I know this has been discussed a lot on the forums and I have read all of those, but I am frustrated after 3 weeks of working on this.  I bouht my wife Photoshop CS6 for xmas and loaded on our iMac running 10.8.2.  She was running Elements 8.  CS6 Bridge will not open.  Get a message "operation can not be completed". It will also not open from inside Photoshop either.  Following other posts, went into Library and deleted switchboard folder, plist files, and other listed files.  Did an option start on CS6 and reset to factory, delete thunbnails.  Performed PRAM and disk permissions repair.  None of this has fixed the problem.  The only thing that works is creating a new user account.  Bridge opens fine in my test account.  Next step is to make test account the main account; however, this is going to be a pain.  Any other ideas before I undertake this?

Looks like you have tried all the suggested methods, so good job on that.  Your solution to create a new account is one that has worked for many where nothing else has worked.  This usually means some permission or default setting has not been affected by your actions.
The only suggestion I can offer is to uninstall CS6, run Adobe Script Cleaner, then reinstall.  Hope this works.
