  • Photoshop/Bridge CS4 problem with AFP shares

    Hello,
I have recently purchased Photoshop CS4 and encountered the following problem: when opening images from a NAS share connected via AFP using File/Open command, Photoshop will correctly display the list of files but Open command in the File open dialog remains disabled after a file is selected from the list. However, I can open the same file by dragging and dropping it from the Finder to the Photoshop Dock icon or later using the Open recent menu command.
Similar problem is visible in Bridge: it will not display the image thumbnails from any of the subfolders in the network share.
I am using Leopard with the latest updates, I have a read/write permissions to the network share and Photoshop/Bridge are the only applications that have problems browsing/opening files from the network share. The NAS unit is a Synology DS-107+ with the latest official firmware.
Futhermore, I have noticed that I can work around the problem by opening the same directory in Finder. After the image thumbnails are visible in Finder, both Photoshop and Bridge will correctly open all files in that directory but opening files from other directories still has the problem.
Does anyone have any idea on what might be causing this strange problem?

This is the boilerplate text I use in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files. Working across a network is not supported.
    See:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/322391.html
Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work.   It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

  • Adobe Bridge database problem

Using Windows XP with 1G RAM and Photoshop Bridge 1.0.4.6 I keep getting the message
"There was a problem with the database and (image name) was not updated correctly. This may affect searches."
It occurs each time that images are added to the computer.
I'm not sure how to cure the problem or whether it is, in fact, causing a problem.
    Any ideas guys?

Hello Curt and thank you for replying.
Ok I agree it does that, i don't understand why i don't have the rectangle in stead of the plus sign tho., so let me give you an example of what i mean.
I watched the adobe video tutorial where the lady did a batch rename, went thru the process, i followed along, i renamed my files i. e.: _mikes pictures_0001.jpg thru _mikes pictures_0008.jpg no problem,
but when she did the keyword "boston boats" it put "boston boats" in the picture along with her filenames. She clicked on the window icon or "plus" icon, typed in boston in the key word, hit enter, then selected all, when all were highlited, she checked the boston rectangle and the word boston was in her pictures.
when i do it nothing happens.
    Don't mean to confuse.
i just got this and am a super newbie
    any help would be appreciated
    regards,
    mike

  • Adobe Bridge "Permissions" Problem

I am using PSE8 with ACR 5.7 & Abode Bridge CS4 v3.0 on a MacBook Pro (running OS 10.6.8). After editing an image in ACR, I am unable to delete the original in Bridge. I get the error message: "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient permissions". I have been using Bridge for the past few years with so such problem. I tried repairing disk permissions to no avail. A search of the archives didn't reveal any suggestions. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you kindly.

As per your suggestion, I took a screenshot & dragged it into a new folder. I opened the folder & dragged the sreenshot image to the trash. Worked fine. However, oddly I did notice this: When I dragged the image into the trash, I immediately get a pop-up window asking if I want to permanently delete the image in the trash. In other words, I cannot simply drag the image into the trash & leave it there until such time as I choose "empty trash" from the Finder drop-down menu. Very odd.
Out of curiosity, I opened iPhoto, selected an image & dragged it into the iPhoto trash. Although the image was no longer in the album, it also was not in iPhoto trash. It was as if I had deleted the image from the trash by simply dragging it there.
I'm starting to think that this isn't a Bridge problem; but possibly a OS problem. Your thoughts??
BTW, thank you so much for helping me with this.

  • Adobe CS3 Bridge - Metadata Problem

    Hello,
Alot of my images (JPGs) seem to be losing their metadata, for example, if I keyword a bunch of pictures in bridge and save them. I go back the next day, and they are missing? Also when uploading to a website, if I put in copyright like this:
    © Copright Name 2008
it almost always appears like this when on site:
    Á© Copright Name 2008
Does anyone have any idea how, and why this is happening, and if there is a way to resolve this incredibly annoying problem.
If it's any relevance, I am seperating keywords with commas.

It should be possible to batch remove that using a metadata template where you set that particular field to be empty and then append that template to all your files (and of course, test on some random pics before doing something like this on all your images)

  • Elements 8.0 and Adobe Bridge CS4 problem

I have two problems that appeared in Elemens 8.0 and Adobe Brigde CS4 recently.  I'm using the Mac version and a Macbook Pro (4 months old).
I don't really know where to address the problem, but I hope someone in this forum would be able to advice me.
    Problem 1
When I browse a RAW-file in Bridge and click the photo to view a 100% zoom and then go back to a normal view, after a few seconds the photo turns alot darker.  I've got alot of macro photos of flower and they really loose structure in this process and I would say they get damaged.
On the attached file the left photo is the photo I've viewed and closed and the right one is the original file.  Does anyone have an explanation to this problem?  I do like to review my files and do a 100% zoom before I choose the best one, but this is not possible in Bridge due to this problem.
    Problem 2
After postprocessing my photos in Elements some of them cannot be viewed through Brigde anymore, they get sort of unclear and some show pixels.  If I use Finder or other programmes to view the files they look perfectly allright. See examples below, the left one is a screendump from Bridge and the second one is the processed file.

I think this solved the problem, at least some of it.
I deleted the bridge plist file and also ran an update of Bridge CS4.  I wasn't sure how to update ACR in bridge, so I didn't do that.
But when I start Bridge now, only some of the files changes color slightly in the thumbnails view.  The zoom (loading 100%) also looks different, it zoomed to 800% earlier even though it said 100%, it sort of never ended.
Thank you Barbara, I'm ever so grateful.  Now I know where to go if I have more problems

  • Camera RAW / Bridge CC problem with Exposure in Mac OS X 10.9 Maverics

Recently I purchased MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9 Maverics and I have a problem as described below while working in Bridge CC:
If I open Canon RAW files (.CR2) in Photoshop by double-clicking the file (or File > Open With > Adobe Photoshop CC), Photoshop starts and a Camera RAW windows opens. If I set the Exposure value from -0.95 to 0.95 and choose Open Image or Done, a .XMP file is created, but the value of Exposure is NOT SAVED (Exposure value is still 0).  If I set the Exposure to -1.00 (or less) or +1.00 (or more), it is SAVED.
On the other way if I open any RAW file just in Camera RAW (File > Open In Camera Raw) everything works fine: any changes of Exposure are saved in .XMP files.
Please note that I have all updates of Adobe and Apple software are installed.
    Anyone can help?

Can't check with Mavericks because I'm still on 10.8.5, however I can't say I heard this behavior before.
Can you select a file that is changed with -0.95 but does not show the result and with right mouse click menu choose purge cache for selection, does that make a difference?
What version of Camera Raw are you using and What Canon are you using.

  • Bridge CS4 - problem with yellow  thumbnails

I've installed Bridge and Photoshop CS4 and am having a problem with very yellow thumbnails (I still have CS3 installed and this is NOT happening there with the same images). I'm running on a a Windows Vista Service Pack1 platform. When I download my images from my Nikon D300 NEF and jpg files they look fine on the card and the download selection screen in Bridge but when they are downloaded they are VERY yellow (both NEFs and jpgs). The minute I open them in Photshop CS4 they are fine with no adjustments necessary. Does anybody have any ideas?
    j.
PS - with 4G Ram both programs are running noticibly faster than CS3 on the same machine - that's a good thing!

If you use the embedded jpeg do you still get yellow thumbs? Don't have CS4 but that option is under workspaces quick link I think.
If so if they were just RAW images you would need to tweek the ACR default settings.

  • Windows 7 64bit Bridge CS3 problem.

I just purchased a new PC. I am running Windows 7 64 bit Pro. I have installed Adobe Photoshop CS3. One minor annoyance is that whenever I exit Photoshop it won't simply close. It hangs until it says "not responding" and then if I exit again at that time it does close.
The BIG problem though is that I can't even open Bridge CS3. I have no idea why or how. I need help on this asap. Without Bridge I'm in trouble.
    Thank you,
    Tom K.

Did you run CS3 as admin the first time you started it?
Did you update CS3 to 10.0.1?
    Hope this makes sense:
You have selected CS3 to run as admin but your not running it (closed): if you try to open bridge by itself with cs3 closed bridge won't open unless you run bridge as admin.
If CS3 is run as admin and you open bridge from CS3 it will open.
Ya, i know it is weird but CS4 did the same under windows 7 64 bit for me so I figured this may help you.

Did you close Photoshop CC 2014 after step 8?
Step 9 Did Photoshop CC open or was Photoshop CC 2014 still open on Windows. Windows version of Photoshop only allow one version od Photoshop to execuite at a time. Mac version of Photoshop can run concurrently.  I have no problems on Windows it I ad step 8A) close Photoshop CC 2014.

  • Bridge compatibility problem in Windows XP

I installed the Illustrator upgrade from CS to CS4, which also installs the CS4 Bridge. Photoshop CS3 is on the machine and I been using Bridge CS3. Now the CS4 Bridge does not allow direct access to the Raw Converter installed with Photoshop, and the CS3 Bridge installed with Photoshop will not open. (Uninstalling the Illustrator upgrade allows the CS3 Bridge to open and work correctly.)
How can I make the CS3 Bridge operate with Illustrator CS4 installed on the machine OR how can I get the CS4 Bridge to open the Raw Converter installed with Photoshop CS3?
    Help would be appreciated

You can't have Bridge CS3 and 4 running as same time although they can be on same computer no problem.  It you have autoload enabled you may have to look in Task Manager/processes to make sure bridge.exe is not running and then start the one you want.
CS4 reads ACR version 5.x and the last version for CS3 was 4.6.  You have to use the correct one, they are not interchangable.

  • Camera Raw Photoshop CS2 & Bridge Parsing Problem

I am having an issue with Photoshop CS2. I am trying to work on a .tiff file that I have used the HDR automate tool from. The HDR renders files in 32-bit and therefor I render back to 16-bit once I have compressed the files and save as a .tiff file.
I then use bridge to try and open the .tiff file and the camera raw file is shaded grey. I also have tried opening in PS CS2 and this message comes up when I try and force Camera Raw to Open..."Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file".
PS will open the tiff file on a compressed version and not in the Camera Raw Function.
I have read numerous posts on this kind of problem and people say to update your camera raw plu-in and I have done that and am having the same problem.
Any suggestions I would very much appreciate it.

    Hi Patrick,
You need CR 4.x and Ps CS3 in order to open non-camera raw TIFFs.

  • VB-Java bridge strange  problem

    Hi,
We are using JCom for our application. Our server is a weblogic 6.1 app server
hosting EJB's and our client is a Visual Basic(VB) trying to access these EJB's.
I am using "zero client installation" programming model.
I am getting a strange problem. When I run my jcom bridge from the startup classes
of Weblogic(using Runtime.exec()) the bridge is not accepting requests from VB.
But if I run the same bridge from a command line DOS prompt, the bridge accepts
the request from VB. I have ensured that in both cases the classpath/path variables
    are properly set.
WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE, if someone can give inputs on this strange issue.(I am
running my VB client on Win 2k platform and also my weblogic server runs on the
    same m/c).
