Bridge CS 3 Quits

I'm running Bridge 2.1.1.9 on OS X 10.5.2. It work fine when I navigate files but if I try to use Bridge Home, Meetings, Stock Photos, etc it quits with an error. I've tried deleting prefs, creating a new user and opening it, uninstalling and reinstalling CS 3, even reinstalling Leopard! I'm getting desperate here, can anyone help?

Stock photo's has been discontinued by Adobe, don't know anything about meetings.
Don't understand what you mean with Bridge Home??
I do know that I disabled al that start up scripts in the Bridge prefs, only use Bridge, PSCS, Media Gallery and Dr. Brown.
You can get a fresh start with a manual trash of Bridge cache in the user library, in the same lib delete bridge plist file from the prefs and restart Bridge holding down option key and choose refresh prefs. Then reset the preferences to your needs and restart Bridge to use it again. (you do have to cache all the folders again however...) In Camera Raw prefs you can also choose to delete that cache.

I have master suite cs6. on mac osx. bridge has been quitting unexpectedly. Also, getting message at start up that states that "bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation" I have purged the cache several times and adjusted settings with no change. I also downloaded the entire suite and installed. Do I need to uninstall all of the programs before installing the suite? There is not an option to install only Bridge from the install package.

    Maria,
Topic or subject titles should be clear, pertinent and concise so that individual users can tell at a glance if they can help or not.
That field is not for attempting to fit your entire question in there.
Please keep this in mind next time you post.  Thank you.

  • Bridge CS6 keeps 'quitting unexpectedly'.

Hi All, since installing PS6 I have not been able to use Bridge as it 'quits unexectedly'. I have clicked the 'send to apple' tab but had no response. Any suggestions how to amend this? Thanks in advance.

Try first aid.  Hold down Option key and start Bridge.  You should get a reset window with 3 options.

  • Re: Bridge CS3 not quitting

I've had my mac for two-and-a-half years and never had a
problem getting an application to quit. So, for anyone else who
is having such a problem: Apple icon > Force Quit.
This finally got the Bridge CS3 to
    go away.

But it is perhaps the same solution like refreshing preferences with key
    press.
A bit different because using option key and reset preferences leaves your
    cached thumbnails and previews untouched.
Deleting the cache file manually needs action to recache thumbs and previews
because you deleted the info with trashing the cache file.
However for Bridge CS3 this manual trashing was needed very often, for later
cycles it is only every now and then, depending on amount and size of files
    etc you are using.
This probably would be the next answer but since dumping cache files is a
bit of a hard way and also needs time to recache it is often better to first
    try the easy options
    Glad your problem is solved!

  • After recent update, bridge won't quit, no previews.

Once again, a new update, additional problems.  I've removed all of the files from the data cache and described in earlier posts.  Once I click a folder, now the contents wont create previews.
The little wheel in the bottom left just keeps spinning, spinning says 13 items, (92 thumbnail extraction, 1 preview extraction).  And keeps spinning, spinning.
So then, after not being able to see my previews, I attempt to quit Bridge.  Can't do that either.  I have to "Force Quit" Bridge, only to come back to the same problem.
THIS is the quality you should expect from purchasing the CS Cloud monthly service!  Every new update I will now not install, because most, not all, but most, create problems that weren't there orignially.
Thanks Adobe!  My workflow has again come to a halt all around your products.....

Thank you Gentlemen for your assistance.  Yes, on a mac.  10.8.2 OSX.  2.7 GHz i5 with 786.41GB free and 16GB RAM.
I've checked and repaired permissions, repaired disks,
Command, Option, p , and r 3 times for the RAM.  Not sure what the issue may be.  I've also lost the ability to search for any files within finder, but thats another problem for another day.
Bridge is starting to be able to shut down after doing all of the above.  I'll keep an eye out.

  • P.S. to Bridge CS3 not quitting

Oh, yes--I also tried going up to the top of my screen, where
"Bridge CS3" appears next to the Apple icon, and clicking "Quit
Bridge CS3" in the drop-down menu, to no effect. I tried clicking
the red button to close the application--no effect. (I clicked the
yellow button to minimize it, just out of curiosity, but of course
all that did was miniaturize the page in my Dock.)

    Thanks Ramon,
It works but with a few other problems I pretty well sorted through.  It took a couple of Bridge quit and restarts to get Bridge to open the external drives. Now that's OK.  Then it seems at times to hang up trying to generate thumbnails, have to force quit Bridge and try over.  Since Bridge worked fairly well for several years, I'm wondering what happened.  Maybe just one of life's mysteries.
I have CS4 on the shelf, installed it and couldn't get the drivers for my Epson 2200 installed.  The CS4 included generic driver is junk, Epson quit supporting the 2200, so I re-installed CS3 for the time being.

    Thanks

Can I ask what the fimware version is that you are running on both devices? Also you can contact SBSC at 866-606-1866 for help with trouble shooting this issue.

  • Bridge CC doesn't quit and CC doesn't show all my apps

    Hi, please help with this.
Bridge CC never quits and I have to force exit. it takes minutes to do things that in CS5 would take seconds, and It says Error just for selecting all images, is ridiculous.
Second, CC app says I've only instaled 2 apps but I have 5 installed...I was wondering if I will never update the others.
    thank you*

  • Photo downloader in Bridge cs6 quits during downloads

During photo downloads, my version of Bridge in CS6 quits after downloading only a portion of the images, for example it will download about 100 pictures, when there are 500 selected to be downloaded. This is a relatively new issue - it always worked fine before. Any clues how to remedy this?

How to disable this behaviour? And replace with the default behaviour of Windows 7?
Don't know how to handle the default of Windows 7 but if you don't want Photodownloader start automatically go to the Bridge Preferences general section. Under behavior you have an option to start Photodownloader when a camera is connected. just deselect this option and you should be OK

  • My cs2 bridge "quite unexpectedly"

My CS2 bridge continues to "quit unexpectedly" . Please advise.

My CS2 bridge continues to "quit unexpectedly" . Please advise.
I'm sorry but you are asking advise for a version that is rarely used by anyone nowadays, current version is CS6 with Bridge version 5.
You have Bridge version 1 that came with CS2 (6,7 years -or more?- ago) and very few people will have this version installed anymore. I also honestly can't remember what features it had nor how to deal with resetting preferences or that stuff.
A lot features have been changed (and added) since then and I also don't know what OS system and version you are using. If it is a current new OS system changes are the OS and CS2 are not made for each other anymore.

  • Bridge quits unexpectedly - cs6 - OS X 10.10.1

I have adobe cs 6 running on 10.10.1 and bridge keeps unexpectedly quitting. When this happens a message appears that adobe has found a workaround and to "click here" to see it. However the click here button doesn't work and the computer just beeps at me. Can anyone help? Thanks!@

    Hi RIS HK,
This crash seems to be related to permission issue,
Can you please try to run Illustrator with sudo permissions on the terminal
    e.g.
    $ sudo /Applications/Adobe\ Illustrator\ CS6/Adobe\ Illustrator.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe\ Illustrator
    Sanjay.

Trash Bridge preferences by holding down the Option key as you launch Bridge.

  • Image processor from Bridge problem

ONe of most annoying things with Bridge is that often, image processor wont open from Bridge -- unless you quit out and relaunch Bridge -- quite a hassle.

You are absolutely correct. In order to pass selected images in bridge over to photoshop, you need to invoke IP from within Bridge. I didn't make that connection from your earlier post.
So your original request makes sense. Personally, I would rather see an improvement in Image Processor (as well as the Batch dialog) that allowed one to specify the source as "Bridge".
In photoshop 7, in the batch dialog, you could specify the source of the files to be batched as "Open Files", "folder", or "File Browser". If you choose File Browser, the batch action will be performed on files selected within FB.
In CS2, in the batch dialog, you can see Bridge as an option, but it's grayed out. You can only invoke the Batch operation on files selected in Bridge from within Bridge - a serious shortcoming.
The same theme holds true for Image Processor, and indeed, it looks like most of the scripts behave that way.
So rather than have a shortcut, I would like, as I say, the ability to specify bridge as a source in the dialog boxes for the image processor and batch dialogs.

  • CS2 Quits constantly, new machine, same old problem

    Hello.
my g5 quad was replaced by apple with a 3.0GHz MacPro and while running certain apps hard, like CS2, Adobe Camera Raw, or Adobe Bridge, they will quit unexpectedly just as they did on the defunct g5 we had.
I have tried everything, just as i did with my Quad, to repair the situation. reseating the RAM, resetting the PRAM, deleting the cache, running DU to repair permissions/repair the disk, running AHT in loop, AND starting with a fresh OS install. none of my files aside from my music and my photos are from the g5 i had. this is not an importing anomaly.
i went to the apple store and they told me that this may be because it is running in Rosetta. i also asked them why my 2 year old PC with an single core AMD Athlon64 3500 and 4 GB of PC3200 can run CS2 so much faster than the MacPro (ridiculous to watch but the PC is actually 2 times faster than the apple if set to the same task at the same time), and they said this may also be due to Rosetta and/or leopard not yet being here. i have been assured that Leopard and CS3 will fix all this. i don't know what to do. i don't want to bring the machine back again. i feel so badly because those guys have tried so hard to help us because they know it is (was) our business machine and that we bought it to speed up our work flow. unfortunately, i don't think the machine is capable of that kind of thing, and i don't trust it to do much anymore. Apple has been very kind to us, and so have their people, but the machines we have used have not been quite so kind or helpful once our troubles began.
i'm not into fighting the holiday crowds for parking and lugging a 40 pound machine around... and frankly, i would be pretty upset if i were on the apple team and saw me back at the store with the brand new machine after all the hard work they put in to help us.
i've stopped using the apple machine as i am afraid to push it hard for my business or multi-task. as a photographer, i am certain that i am not pushing it as hard as a videographer would be. but, i can't run more than CS2 and maybe a web browser (firefox 2.0 is very slow and unresponsive on this machine) without it slowing down... or crashing a program altogether and losing all my work. CS2 is what i use...
so, i've resumed work on my windows machine, and basically use the apple as a storage device/paper weight. that was a $5000+ mistake our business has made, and it's tough to recover from that in my business with one PC based machine that works and an awfully expensive apple paperweight.
NED SNOWING wrote back to me and had this to say:
"hey said this may also be due to Rosetta and/or leopard not yet being here. i have been assured that Leopard and CS3 will fix all this.
This is correct. As all PowerPC applications, like Adobe CS2, have to run through a software "translation" layer everything is slowed down for that application. This is why CS2 apllications run no better than the G5s on the Mac Pro. However, once the like of Adobe etc release their applications as Universal or Intel binary applications you'll see the performance skyrocket forward.
Due to Apple's accelerated transition the like of Adobe have in actual fact been caught a little short in their developement timings. Be aware that the use of Rosetta for applications is only temporary.
By the way, there's no reason that you could run Windows under Boot Camp on the Mac Pro in the meantime.
    Mac Pro 2.66GHz 3GB/5x300GB (see bio)/ATi X1900 XT/AE/BT ; Dell 2405FPW Mac OS X (10.4.8) MacBook Pro 15.4" C2D 2.16GHz 2GB/120GB/Glossy ; Mac mini CD 1.66GHz 2GB/80GB/SD"
    My question stands at this:
still, i do not understand why the machine is so dramatically slower than my 2 year old PC with a single core AMD64 XP3500 and 4 GB of PC3200 AND 2 near full 80GB IDE hard drives.
the Quad was ridiculously fast. it was so fast that i thought there was something worng with it. i never wanted to use my windows machine again and then it failed and failed and deleted our data and failed again...
if i am understanding you correctly, you're saying that this machine SHOULD run CS2 at a rate on par at least with the Quad... well, i invite you to show me what i am doing wrong, PLEASE. The failure of the Quad crippled our business, and now this machine has put us at a $5000+ deficit without anything to show for it. It takes me more time to use the Mac than my PC… IN CS2… and your statement is that the MacPro should run at speeds equal to or at least comparable to the g5. Mine doesn’t. and I am not at all happy about having to bring a brand new machine they replaced along with my PC to the store to demonstrate how slow their stuff is when the Quad blew this heap away AND could multitask. The Apple guys at the store have been great, and this just plain stinks to have to bring back a machine that's supposed to be working and isn't, AFTER being replaced. it's pretty damned embarrassing.
no errors in AHT, Mem test is fine. 2 500GB hard drives, primary drive has 400GB free when i am not working on a project. 250GB when i am. all my stuff is backed up on Terabyte Servers. the replacement machine they gave us had 2GB of RAM (4-512 sticks) and the Apple Store installed 2 1GB sticks as the machine we turned in was equipped as such.
    please, please, please help me.

while running certain apps hard, like CS2, Adobe Camera Raw, or Adobe Bridge, they will quit unexpectedly just as they did on the defunct g5 we had.
The I would say that you're installing some software that is problematic else you used the Migration Assistant to get your data from one to the other. Either way, I would clean install the system and install a minimum of software to ensure that the system is stable before adding to it. I find it hugely unlikely that two completely different systems to exhibit the exact same issue.
Additionally, if you have installed Adobe Version Cue 2 then that might well be your problem.
still, i do not understand why the machine is so dramatically slower than my 2 year old PC with a single core AMD64 XP3500 and 4 GB of PC3200 AND 2 near full 80GB IDE hard drives.
Have you ever had a conversation with someone with whom you did not have a common language and had to use a translator? This is the situation that Apple has with Rosetta (where Rosetta is the translator). If you take into account these mechanics you can't expect this scenario to have a conversation as quick as two people talking in a common language, even if one of the parties isn't very good at that language.
if i am understanding you correctly, you're saying that this machine SHOULD run CS2 at a rate on par at least with the Quad
No… I'm not saying that. What I said was that the Mac Pro should perform equivalently to a low end G5. I would expect a 3GHz MP to be roughly equivalent to a 2.3GHz DC PowerMac G5 in the best case. To expect more than that with Rosetta in the picture would be rather delusional.
I am not at all happy about having to bring a brand new machine they replaced along with my PC to the store to demonstrate how slow their stuff is when the Quad blew this heap away AND could multitask.
I wouldn't be best pleased about that either although I don't really know what you're expecting any of us to say. As I said earlier my best advise would be to erase the boot/application drive and then install everything new and from the original CDs/DVDs. If under the simplest setup possible you still experience crashing then I would contact Adobe or which ever software developer for the problematic application(s).
Otherwise, just return the thing, eat the restocking fee and wait until Adobe CS3 is released.

  • Adobe Bridge Missing

    Hello all,
I have Master Collection and up till recently had Adobe Bridge installed. I say up till recently because It's been on my machine for a while now, then a few days ago I installed Premier Pro to my system and now bridge is MIA. I can see in the console logs that it was removed but not sure why? To further add to my head scratching, it was also removed from a second drive that has an older os (snow leopard).
Why was it removed from my primary os drive (Mountain Lion)?
Why was it removed from my old Snow Leopard drive?
Can I get Bridge back without reinstalling PS? I have a lot of custom setting in PS and don't want to loose them.

Not a clue why it uninstalled Bridge, it should not and has no reason to do so, especially not from both discs with separate OS installed on it. I have both CS6 and CC PPro installed on my MacPro with Mountain Lion (10.8.5) and still have all Bridge versions (albeit I use the Cloud subscription for both versions).
As said in other post, Bridge CS6 gets installed with PS, if you first uninstall PSCS6 without deleting prefs you should be OK but for security you can back up your custom settings first. Most of them should be in the User Library (By default hidden per OSX 10.7) Application Support / Adobe / Adobe Photoshop CS6 / presets and in the same library Preferences folder Adobe PSCS6 Settings. Just copy them outside the library for back up to being able replacing them after new install. Should not take you long.
And also check in the same user library / Application Support / Adobe / Bridge CS6 for still having the content of your custom settings for workspaces and AOM etc. Also back them up for security. In the same library should also be a folder called Caches / Adobe / bridge CS6. inhere are the previous cached previews for Bridge (can grow quite large).
