Bridge CS3 and Duotone: odd behavior

Hello all.
Are there any users of Bridge CS3 that work with duotone images?
The new version of bridge displays the color mode correctly as Duotone, but now the color profile is still the profile of what it was when the image was in RGB mode (Adobe RGB, ProPhoto, etc).
In Bridge CS2, the color profile of duotone images was always displayed as sRGB IEC1966-2.1. At least then it was constant across all my images.
However in both Photoshop CS2 and CS3, duotone images show up as "untagged duotone" Color Profile what gives?
Any ideas?
Thanks.
-Andrew

Ramón,
Thank you for your reply. The only times I have purged the cache has been through the Tools menu, as i've read from various people, including you, that the other option is "broken".
Omke,
In Grayscale color mode, Bridge shows the color profile that's embedded in the image. That comes from the Gray Working Profile selected in Photoshop's "color settings." The only way i know of to create a duotone is to start with a grayscale image. Even the "conditional mode change" function in File > Automate converts the image to grayscale as an intermediate step.
Now, on to the original question, open to anybody who works with duotones in Bridge...
a) Does anybody know why Bridge CS3 is treating the color profile of duotones differently than in CS2.
b) is there any way to make it consistently show one profile? -- at this point i don't care muchly what profile it's displaying as long as it's the same for all my duotones.

  • Problem with changing Label in Bridge CS3 and CS6

    Hi there,
I am having some problem with changing Label in Bridge CS3 and CS6 in windows.
    1. In Bridge CS3 (Windows XP), most of the time with most of the files, there is no problem. But I found that in some files, the Label does not get changed. I usually change Label by right clicking on the picture, then Label and select any Label. When I do so in those files, nothing happens. But when I rename the file by changing or adding just a single character, then it works. And if I again rename to original name, it still works. But without renaming the Label does not change. Again this does not happen with all pictures, but occationally with some. We usually receive pictures from different clients for editing purpose.
    2. In Bridge CS6 (Windows 7), if you create lot of Path using Pen tool in Photoshop for the purpose of removing background, you save the file, close, and change Label in Bridge, again open the file in Photoshop, you see no Path in the Path Pallette. So that means, changing Label works, but it removes the Path from the file. But if there is small amount of path, then no prboblem. But if there is lot of path, like you need to create for a necklace to remove background, then the problem arises.
I am using Bridge for a purpose where it is very helpful so I really need to use Bridge, and Labeling feature is the most important to me, but after feaguring out this problem, I am really tensed as to whether or not I will find a solution to this. So any help, guidance will really be appreciated.
Thanks very much in advance for any solution.
    Best regards

I have re-checked the issue and I found that the problem is with JPG file.
I wasn't even aware you could save a path to a jpeg file (always use PSD because of wanting to keep the Alpha Channel, jpeg only can contain 1 layer and no alpha channels and/or transparency).
However I tried it on a file with a simple path and one with a complex path. It seems indeed you have found a bug. The simple path is no problem but the more complex path is indeed disappearing.
It is not only label but also rate or adding IPTC in the description field. The moment metadata is saved to this jpeg file and reopened the earlier present work path of a more complex path is gone.
Despite the fact that to my opinion a jpeg is not the most suitable file format for saving a work path this should not happen. If a work path is saved to a jpeg then it should be kept saved after just altering metadata in Bridge.
It still is the same behavior in Bridge CC because that is what I use. Don't know when it started but it still needs to be repaired

  • Unable to Open Images in Bridge CS3 and Continuing Icon issues!

Re: Icon issues in Bridge CS3 and also with Photo Downloader that have never been there before.
So, these are the issues.   Just one of the folders that previously would show thumbnails now only shows DNG icons, and none will open in Photoshop to let me work on previous image.    Issue #2  - can't download images with Photo Downloaders - both my wife's Canon G9 only shows CR2 icons, and my Nikon D300 only shows NEF icons - neither of these issues had appeared before or been an issue.  Third issue.  None of my Bridge folders - even those with regular thumbnail immages- will open now - get a message that says words to the effect of Photoshop doesn't recognize this type of file.  Computer is a Mac, with OS 10.5.8
I recently tried to make more room on HD, so must have taken some critical files/commands out by accident.
Thanks for your time and previous  suggestions - still not working.  I'm sure that in trying to correct things have made things even worse- as may be noticed  by the two snapshots I've attached.  The first is one from a library from my user section.  The second library image is from my hard drive.  Hopefully you and others aren't laughing or crying too much over what you see - redundantcy, etc!  All of my energies have focused on taking photos, obviously none to proper setup/use of organizing things on my Mac.  But after the laughing has stopped, any help will be tremendously appreciated - am most anxious to getting back to working with and saving images.

    Thanks in advance

First of all, if you don't know much about how applications work inside of the OS, its wise to not look in the application folder(s). Deleting anything here can make your apps go haywire. If this happened, then you are best to 1)unregister photoshop, 2) uninstall your entire suite. 3) reinstall the suite and finally 4) reregister photoshop.
All images/textures/photo's including dng, cr2 and nef files need to be stored in your pictures folder and no where else, unless you're an intermediate user on your OS. In your pictures folder you can create folders for organizing the pictures whether by location, season's, time, or file format.
Then when you back up you can just drag a copy of the files to another drive including cd's or dvd's.
This will make sure you don't accidently delete important app files.
All this said, my OS of choice is Windows, so if anything does not sound right, thats why.
    Hopefully this helps...

  • IView Media Pro erases adjustments and ratings in Bridge CS3 and Camera RAW 4.2

OUCH! I seem to have lost about a day's worth of work. I rated and adjusted my Canon cr2 RAW files using Bridge CS3 and ACR 4.2. Then I used iView Media Pro 3.1.3 to add keywords. When I opened the files back up in Bridge CS3, my ratings and adjustements were gone. Actually, when I open the sidecar files in a text editor, I can see the adjustments, but ACR and Bridge can't read them. Anyone else seeing this? If so, how do you fix it or work around it???

Have you tried purge cache for folder?
iView Media Pro is now Expression Media 1, maybe this 'upgrade' works for you.
You know that you can add keywords and sets in Bridge as well?

  • Bridge CS3 and error message

On my old Windows XP with CS3, Bridge would often crash.  No pattern I could see.
Recently bought a new Windows 7 PC with iCore 7 processor and installed same software.  Had the same problem as above.
I also have just bought a new laptop running Windows 7 with a dual core processor.  Loaded same software and also had the same problem.
The Photoshop CS3 (and Bridge) is as up to date as Adobe provide, so is Windows on all three machines.  The common element in all three seems to be CS3, or at least, that's how it appears.
When it crashes on the two Windows 7 machines, it wants to send the following files to Microsoft.  Haven't used the old XP machine for a while and don't have any notes of those messages.
    All three files begin:   C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Temp\
    and carry on:
    WERB144.TMP.WERInternalMetadat.xml
    WERE5BD.tmp.appcompat.txt
    WERF632.tmp.mdmp
This is way above my knowledge.  Can anyone help, please?  What does it mean and could I fix it easily?
In the meantime, I'm doing the 30 day trial of LR2 which may be the best way to go.  But I would like to know why Bridge is behaving as it is.
    Thanks!
    John Walmsley

    Thanks, Curt.
I'll give this a try and report back.  All three PCs are using the same BitDefender Total Internet Security software so that is definitely a common feature.

  • Bridge cs3 and content panel not showing all images

    I am using Bridge CS3

Any suggestions on what is happening

    Jacj,
Did you ever find a solution to this problem. I am faced with same problem as detailed by you and here:

I do not see a great solution in the posts at attached link, other than perhaps resetting workspace.

  • File size different in Bridge CS3 and Photoshop

I'm using PS CS3 and Bridge CS3 on a Macbook Pro. I have about 40 files that are about 50MB when opened in PS. In Bridge, under the thumbnails, the file size is pretty close to that, sometimes the exact amount, sometimes off by a couple/few MBs. I've been told this is due to some compression "on the disk" by Bridge. All the files are PSDs, by the way, and they are all flattened.
What I don't understand is why just a *few* files that are 50MB in PS are showing up MUCH smaller in Bridge; e.g., 36MB. If it's due to compression, why would Bridge compress just a few files so much?
I'm wondering if this has to do with the cached thumbnails, and maybe the thumbnails aren't showing the latest version (with accurate size) of the file. I don't know much about the cache, and I'm afraid to "purge the cache" without knowing anything about it. Also, if it has to do with preferences, I'm don't really know about that, either.

Bridge does not compress any files whatsoever. Bridge is not an image editor, it's nothing but a browser that hands the files to their respective applications. Bridge does not "open" or "save" files, it can't compress them in any shape or form.
What you are seeing is the difference between the opened, uncompressed file in RAM and the space the file occupies on disk once
Photoshop has saved and compressed it.
The Bridge cache has nothing to do with any of this.

  • Bridge CS3 and Camera Raw

Hello, I have Bridge CS3 that came with Adobe Web Standard that I bought when I have doing web design. I also have Photoshop CS that I use for my camera digital editing. At a camera club today they were using Bridge and Photoshop CS5 to show what it can do. The man completing the demo said that Camera Raw was inbuilt into Bridge and that I should have it. I've been using Adobe DNG convertor for my RAW editing as I didn't know nothing about Camera Raw but seeing it in action and how much better it is over the DNG I want to use that instead.
I've searched high and low for Camera Raw on my PC but I cannot find it. I've tried downloading it from here but it says No and to quit.
My RAW files have the .DNG extension if that makes a difference.
So, am I missing Camera Raw and if so, how can I get it :?:
    Thanks

You can download the latest update of ACR for your software version here....

After you click on the version you want it will take you to a page with installation instructions.

  • Bridge cs3 strange behavior

    I'm not sure
but bridge cs3 has a ugly behavior
browse a folder with lots of images (cached completed),every time i run it (i set sort by capture date ) it keeps some seconds to index (in order to sort i guess) , is it normal or is my version buggy (i mean my italian version)?
does brigde cs4 index too , slow to index?
    thanks
    have a nice day

As I said in the previous post.
Close Bridge, delete the plist file from the user lib and restart holding down option key, refresh preferences and after start up reset the prefs to your wishes (don't forget to put a checkmark on the start up script for stock photos).
Also use the disk utility application to check and/or repair your permissions on your MacOSX.
If this is still not working after you restarted Bridge again you better contact the tech support at Adobe (use the contact button on top of this page) and open a new case for your problem.

  • Don't have permission to delete files in Preview or Adobe Bridge CS3

    Help!
I'm unable to delete image files in Preview or Adobe Bridge CS3.
    Workflow:
    1. Take a bunch of photos on my Nikon
    2. Load them to my MacBook Pro, 10.6.3
    3. Open them in Preview and right-click "Move to Trash" on the photos that I don't want.
==> this results in "Move to Trash Failed. Some files could not be moved to Trash."
    4. If I open the bunch of photos in Adobe Bridge CS3 and command-delete the photos that I don't want
==> I get "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient permissions."
I am logged in as the same user who loaded the image files.
Permission on the image folder start out at
    me: Read & Write
    admin: Read only
    everyone: Read only
but even if I change all to Read & Write, I still get the same errors.
    What's going on?????
    Thanks.

Did you ever figure this one out? I'm having the same issue...

  • Bridge CS3: Vorschaubilder werden bei einigen Ordnern nicht angezeigt

    Bridge CS3 / Windows 7
    Hi,
I have a problem with my Bridge CS3.
In some of my folders Bridge does not show any thumbnails/preview my fotos (jpgs). I can only see the windows PS-icons and the files names.
If I double click on the icons, the images open in photoshop as usual. They are normal jpgs.
The images in other folders have thumbnails/previews. I do not understand, why some of my folders show the previews and others don't.
The folders are filed at the same memory location.
Does anybody have a solution? Thank you in advance for your help
    Regards
    Isi
    Hallo,
Sind also ganz normale JPGs.

    For Bridge CS3 and later:
       1. Delete the entire directory from the Cache folder located in the Users/ /Library/Caches/Adobe/Bridge CS[#] folder.
       2. Delete the "!!Last.workspace" file located in the Users/ /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge CS[#] /Workspaces folder.
       3. Delete the com.adobe.bridge[#].plist file located in the Users/ /Library/Preferences folder.

  • Raw thumbnails will not display in Bridge CS3

I am using Bridge CS3 and Photoshop Elements 7 (the OS is Vista).  I can open raw files OK via Bridge, and PSE will launch correctly as well, but the thumbnails in Bridge are only the file icons for the raw files, never images.  .jpg files are fine.  I have loaded the latest converter, but the problem in Bridge continues.  Any suggestions?

I  am using CS4 and had the same problem in Windows 7. I ran a check for  update, ran the update, opened Bridge and still got icons...then I  refreshed and all is working fine now, I can see my CR.2 files.
    Hope this solves your issue.

  • Bridge CS3: Not importing clips into Premiere CS3

One of the videos on the Adobe site shows someone right-clicking a movie (MOV, I think) and choosing the option to "Open with Premiere Pro CS3".
I created a blank test Premiere CS3 project. From Bridge, if I right-click an AVI and choose to "Open with Premiere Pro CS3", focus switches to Premiere, but no clip is imported.
    I'm using Windows Vista.
    Any ideas on this one?

Jim, I *am* using Bridge CS3. Version 2.1.0.100
    Windows Vista Ultimate
Eddie, yes the video tutorial shows how to open MOV video clips from Bridge CS3 into Premiere. My source clips are Windows AVIs. When I right click a clip in Bridge CS3 and choose the option to open with Premiere (actually the option is "Open With > Adobe Premiere Pro"), Premiere Pro CS3 gets focus (or opens if it's not already open), but no clip is imported.
Interestingly, I got hold of a sample MOV file (CheeziPuffs.mov that appears in the Adobe samples). When I right-click that file in Bridge, I am only given the option to open with QuickTime player. Premiere does not even feature as an option in the context menu.
When I ran up Bridge for the 1st time followin Premiere Pro CS3 and Encore CS3 installation, it popped up a dialog box and said that the new programs had been detected and did I want to register them with Bridge (or words to that effect), which I did. So far, so good. But my AVIs just plain won't open in Premiere when I ask Bridge to do so.

  • Bridge CS3: location of keyword index ???

I know that Bridge stores the actual keyword(s) with the image files but where is the overall "index" located on my hard drive?
The index is the structure that gives the instant access through the images.
    Thanks

That doesn't sound right to me.
My path wasn't quite correct it should have been
    C:\Documents and Settings\User name\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS3
and the keywords are stored in
    Adobe Bridge Keywords.xml
The cache files contain thumbnail data and these have to be rebuilt if image files are moved but the keywords stay with the image and are referenced by Bridge wherever the file is.
That is my interpretation and I fully agree that the workings of Bridge are not properly documented by Adobe. But don't expect things to improve: the rushed time-scales imposed by the marketeers mean that not only are new releases buggy, but the documentation is inadequate or non-existent. People that want to understand the program have to spend hours sifting through the Knowledge Base (that's a misnomer!) and assorted blogs to find out what's going on.
Welcome to the wonderful new world of user friendly Adobe.
