Bridge CS3 Crash on startup!!!
Intel iMac - OSX 10.5.2 CS3
Opening Bridge CS3 (2.1.1.9) causes failure:
"Das Objekt konnte nicht angezeigt werden.
Möglicherweise wurde es verschoben oder umbenannt."
Prefs deleted - no reaction
Logged in as another user - the APP runs!
Thanks for your your ideas!
Try to delete the Bridge 'plist' file manually from the user library preferences folder.
and/or
Run disk utility to check your permissions
If still not working change to a new user. ( but if it is not solved with system maintenance there is something very bad going on or to be happen in the near future and you better use the Archive and Install option for a fresh OSX system...)

I've had CS3 installed on my system for a few years and for one reason or another have never gotten around to using Bridge. I wanted to play around with it today but it crashes as soon as I try and start it up:

I've tried the "hold a key to reset preferences" trick and it still crashes right after that. Can anyone help ID what the problem is?
Thanks,
JIf you mean hold 'Any key' then there is one of your problems. You should hold down the option key while restarting Bridge and when a menu with three options appears choose refresh preferences and try again.
BUT
first of all upgrade Bridge to version 2.1.1.9 (and PS to 10.0.1)
That probably should solve your problem :-)
If still no luck quit Bridge go to the user library preferences folder. Inhere find and delete the AdobeBridgeCS3 plist file and delete this to the trash. Restart (again with option key and refresh preferences) and try again -
Adobe Bridge CS3 crashes on load in my Windows 7 workstation.
Adobe Bridge CS3 crashes on load in my Windows 7 workstation.
I recently completely removed, deactivated and reinstalled all my Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Master Collection to solve some problems with other application from the suite and now I'm surprise Bridge continues to fail. In my portable workstation the same software (Bridge) uses to work.
I tried launching Bridge under several compatibility modes. All failed.
Is there any know bug I should be aware of? Any fix?
Is this a common problem?Curt Y. Thank you for your answer.
It was only Bridge who was crashing. It failed to load and Windows was giving an error message.
I tried your suggestion, and resetting all options in the reset window it now loads. It was as simple as that. -
Bridge CS6 crashes on startup after upgrade from CS5
Yesterday I upgraded to Photoshop CS6 using an install disk mailed from Adobe. Photoshop CS6 itself appears to be working fine, but both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Bridge CS6 crash on startup with the standard Windows popup ("Adobe Bridge CS6 has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution..."). Bridge CS5 still works great, as it did before the CS6 installation.
The Windows Event Viewer shows the following message for the crash of the 64-bit version:

I've rebooted multiple times and tried reinstalling from the upgrade disk, but the problem persists.
The installation is on a machine dedicated to Photoshop whose system info is included below. I'm running a multi-disk setup with 1 SSD as my C drive, another SSD for Temp and Scratch (in different partitions on the same SSD), and a RAID 5 array of hard drives for the actual image files. To my knowledge I'm running with the latest drivers of everything.
I'm not sure how to move forward at this point. Any information or assistance would be most appreciated.
David

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEThanks Curt, but this is not a virus issue. Think about it, how could the ntdll.dll file be virus infected and yet only impact the running of this single application? That really wouldn't make sense now would it? That library is critical to many windows function and if it were virus infected, I would have more things to worry about that trying to get Bridge to launch.
I already did my homework on that before I posted here and tried some of the things suggested on verifying the integrity of my system files. The Digital Signature Information shows to be okay.
It could be that I upgraded this system from Windows XP Professional to Windows Vista Business and that I have an old (CS2) install that I did not remove from the computer. I have done a variety of things to try and get to the root, but to no avail. I am sure that if I were willing to start completely from scratch and do a clean install of the OS, I may be able to get it to work. I don't really have time to do that however, and since I am not the only person who has had the issue with Bridge failing to start, I suspect the solution lies somewhere within the architecture of Bridge in CS6 that is at the root of my problem.
I am hoping that someone from Adobe will finally figure it out and provide an update that works. -
One of my Macs (G5 Power Mac, 10.4.11, CS3) crashes when browsing certain folders on my Xserve (2009 Xserve, 10.5 Server, Nehalem proc, AFP connections, active directory). One consistency is that it always crashes when browsing to folders containing EPS files, sometimes PDF or TIF files as well.
It looks like the error related to Classes being implemented in multiple locations could be at fault. I may try disabling them in one location to see if it works.
Here is the log when launching Bridge:

Bridge CS3 crashes with RAW folder, CS2 doesn't
I have this folder with all my recent RAW files, 319 shots. If I go to that folder with Bridge CS3, it crashes. I can however go to that folder with Bridge CS2 without it crashing, but I have to drag and drop the file to Photoshop CS3 to work on it. Clicking on the photo in Bridge CS2 just opens it in Preview.
I know it's not that big of a deal and I can still view/open my files with at least one of the version's of Bridge. It just frustrates me because I can't use the updated, and theoretically better, version of Bridge on my RAW files. I'm so used to being able to open up CS3, click on my file, and there it is open in Photoshop ready for me to do my edits.
I've tried toying around with preferences, and nothing works. I've tried dividing the files into sub folders, thinking it was the number of large files in one folder...worked for a while and eventually started crashing when I went to the folder that held the sub folders. Any suggestions as to what to do so I can use CS3.Hey mine does this too, some one please help!

Problems with Bridge CS3 crash freeze and burn
Hi,
I am running Bridge CS3 version 2.1. 100 on a MacBook Pro 3
Intel Core Duo
2.4 GHz, 2GB ram
I am having some serious Bridge issues. My problems have ranged from it just being very sluggish and slow to Bridge not applying a label to random crashes.
So far today here are the issues:
"Operation Cannot be completed, an unknown OS error has occurred"
"EventHandler:2976"
Will not apply a label when using the command key or from the tool bar menu
Not responding when quitting from icon in the dock
freezes when renaming a file
unexpectedly quit while cropping an image in PS CS3
Things I have tried to resolve this:
shift-alt-command and reset all preferences and purged cache
changing the thumbnails preferences to only process 50mb or smaller files
create small thumbnails
(as a former pc user) I have restarted multiple times...
Things I have not tried:
rebuilding OS
uninstall reinstall
throwing laptop in bathtub
The files I am working on range in size from 4 mb up to 400 mb .psd files
Any ideas?I can't use Bridge CS3 anymore. It freezes on my screen and the only way to close it is with task manager. Had problems with it the first time I loaded it...a full version of CS3, no upgrade. Spoke with 2 Adobe technicians who tried to help, but being a believer in Murphy's Laws I decided to bypass their suggestions which I had already tried.
The best viewer alternatives to Bridge are:
-Fast Stone Image Viewer is shareware and handles .psd files along with RAW, TIFF, JPG, etc. Go to their site an look for yourself. It was so good I sent them the suggested contribution. Adobe could learn a lot from them.
-Use Adobe Lightroom as a viewer and to do preliminary editing before launching the file into CS3. Adobe got it right in Lightroom...how come not in bridge CS3?
-Nikon View NX is good but doesn't show .psd files.
Nikon's Capture NX is a reasonable alternative to CS3 if you get fed up with Adobe. Or go back to PS Elements!
Finally, some lecturing Photoshop gurus have called Bridge "JUNK...you get what you pay for." Correct.
Benefits of JUNK sofware is that you explore alternatives and can be surprised at what's available out there.
Conclusion: Bridge CS3 is meant to be a "bridge" to many PS products, but for me it's a "bridge to nowhere." Make it simple, guys. -
Dreamweaver CS3 crash on startup
I am using CS3 version 9 Build 3481 on a Mac running the
current OS. It was running fine until the university changed the
location of servers, where my site is. Dreamweaver now crashes on
startup. The 1st message displayed is "An FTP error occurred-
cannot make connection to host". I have to click OKAY, and then
another dialog box appears that says, "Failed to create empty
document". Again, I have to click OKAY and then Dreamweaver shuts
down. I tried deleting the Dreamweaver folder and reinstalling, but
the same thing occurs.
Any advice? After the university changed the location of servers, did you
update the FTP
settings in your site definition?

Photoshop CS3 crashes on startup running snow leopard
I am running Photoshop CS3 on iMac with OS x 10.6.8. Photoshop crashes on startup or if it does start crashes when I try to perform a task. Startup crash gives error code -600

Fantastic! Puting the tilde on the front of the twain plug-in has sorted it. At least it's working until I can get the drivers off. I tried disabling the drivers, no luck, tried removing from device manager, still no luck. Thats something I'll need to sift through the Dell forums for.
But thankfully, Photoshop now boot and works. Thanks guys! -
InDesign CS3 crashing on startup
Hi
One of our plug-ins is causing InDesign CS3 5.0.3 (release version running on Windows XP) to crash on startup. This is only affecting one customer, on all their PCs, but we can't reproduce it in-house. It happened before, to the same customer and the same plug-in, a few months ago, and we 'fixed' it by reverting from the 5.0.3 SDK to the 5.0.1. However, now the problem has returned.
This isn't much to go on, but can anyone suggest what might be causing this?
Thanks,
CharlesWell, I finally fixed it. It comes down to an issue with Visual Studio: that programs built with it will not necessarily run on a target PC that doesn't have VS. You have to run a Microsoft file called vcredist.exe on the target PC, which provides it with the missing DLLs etc. We knew about that, but it turns out that when we decided to service pack VS2005, we should have downloaded a new version of Microsoft's redistributable program.
Why only this customer was affected remains a mystery. At a guess they have installed some other piece of software that included incompatible versions of some DLLs, and running Microsoft's installer fixed things as a side effect.
The crash I was getting on one of our own PCs a couple of days ago now looks like a completely different bug introduced by my diagnostic code. I'd investigate further except I'm already sick of this problem, and all I need to do is remove the diagnostics.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. -
Man. I've never been so disappointed in a company relating to
its technical support. First off, I just wrote a new post (few
hours ago) about a Flash problem that it crashed during startup.
I'm still having this problem. But the big issue now is that my
post isn't even listed anymore in the forum? It was there when I
posted it. Did you guys at Adobe decide to remove it for whatever
reason?
To add to that, I've been on the phone with Adobe 3 times
today. And as I write this I've been on hold for 67 minutes. I
called the same line from another phone and it says their hours are
up. So does this mean I'm holding on their support lines because I
called prior to closing and they just left me on hold? Anyone else
run into this issue?
Talk about disappointing. But now that I've spoken up about
that, I'll leave my post here again in case someone can help me.
And I'd sure prefer it if Adobe decided not to remove this post on
me.
So anyone out there that can help me I would appreciate it.
But the fact that three people from Adobe have not been able to
help, it seems it might be a lost cause. I'm running Flash CS3 on a
MacBook Pro. I was running it wonderfully for a bit over a month.
Last week I clicked on the application to open it up and it crashed
on me. I haven't been able to open the application since. I've
uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times and have gotten nowhere.
I've even done a Clean Uninstall as recommended by Adobe and that
didn't work either.
Right now I have a $700 application that I can't even load
onto my computer anymore. Please help. And sorry for the words of
frustration above.
ThanksAt what point during startup does it crash? I suspect a
corrupt font...?

Photoshop CS3 crashes on startup in Win 7 Prof 64 bit
Hello everyone,
I'm not sure if this particular problem has been tackled before, if it has, I apologise in advance for double posting!
I have Photoshop CS3 as part of the Master Collection that I upgraded to from the old Macromedia Studio MX. But recently, Photoshop CS3 crashes on start-up and returns the following error: "Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working"
I am running it on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on a system with the following specs:
CPU: Intel® Core™i7 Processor Extreme Edition i7-975 (3.33GHz
RAM: 12 GB
Graphics Card: 2GB ATI RADEON™ HD 5970 PCI EXPRESS - DirectX® 11
HDD: 2x 500 GB
I tried running it under various compatibility modes, but alas, no luck - stops right at the same problem.
I've noticed that it crashes where the loading screen says 'building TWAIN Menus'. The software has been working without a hitch righ up until i tried installing my drivers for my old Dell all in one printer/scanner. These DID have compatibility issues, but I cant find it anywhere on my system to remove them. Or I might;ve removed them when applying a fix to remove it.
So I guess, it's the scanner software that is doing it. (hence I might've answered my own question).
Has anyone experienced this problem? perhaps even with thier own printer/scanners etc? Any ideas how this might be resolved?
Any advice or help would be appreciated, thanks in advance! :-)John Joslin wrote:

Bridge CS3 Crashes upon start-up...after a few seconds
Was working fine....then suddenly crashes upon start-up either from within PS (browse) or from launching it. Same error message. Reloaded photoshop software, restarted...same problem. Tried resetting preferences (clicked all three reset boxes). No change. Did not add or mod any software that I know of. Running Vista. Has been working fine up until a couple days ago. Any help suggestions?

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=50163&clcid=0x0409That is very odd that Bridge still crashes after reseting the preferences. That ususlly does the trick.
Do you use just central or distributed cache (export cqche to folder)? Purging the cache does not do anything to the distributed cache. You have to do that manually acording to the adobe document.
Might want to read the adobe document on reseting preferences.
If you look at the photo folders that you were last working on with Windows Explorer do you see any thumbnails that don't display, or any other odd thing that might indicate a corrupt file? -
Dreamweaver CS3 Crashes At Startup
I installed the CS3 web premium suite and all the programs
worked great, including Dreamweaver. After rebooting the PC the
next morning, Dreamweaver CS3 would not launch anymore. I
reinstalled DW but still the same problem. Startup gets as far as
reading the site cache and then totally disappears. I've tried
renaming/deleting the Configuration and the registry key
(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9), and the DW8 site
caches. The other CS3 programs work fine.
What now?I can open Dreamweaver now but I don't think the problem is
solved. Here's what happened:
I took the steps in the article you referenced and some
others, re-started the pc repeatedly with all start-up programs
disabled, and waited in vain for the promised return phone call
from a seemingly diligent guy in Tech Support. When I called Tech
Support the next day, they said that the case number and customer
ID had no reference to this problem so someone would call back. OK,
fine. I'll wait.
I did a "clean update" of ZoneAlarm, remembering that this
had solved some other problems in the past. Later yesterday, I was
cleaning up some experimental website file directories and renamed
a few of them to make more sense of what they were.
When I tried to re-open Dreamweaver later, it paused to tell
me that it could not find the directory for the site referenced in
the site definition and I should go to Manage Sites to fix it.
Since Dreamweaver had crashed repeatedly before reaching this
stage, this was a major victory. The site it was trying to open was
one that I had set up to experiment with some of the new features
in DW CS3 after the initial installation. Fortunately, it was one
that I had renamed earlier yesterday.
The offending directory contained a page with some of the new
Spry widgets (Tabbed Panel and Accordian) and a short slideshow
that I think I made using Bridge.
So, I was able to open the Manage Sites panel and point
Dreamweaver to another site definition. It opened fine and everyone
lived happily ever after.
Unfortunately, the problem is not solved -- just worked
around by coincidence.
Here is some info from the Windows Control Panel's Event
Viewer about the last time that DW crashed: Faulting application
dreamweaver.exe, version 9.0.0.3481, faulting module msvcr80.dll,
version 8.0.50727.163, fault address 0x000142f1.
Hope ths helps Adobe figure out what is causing this crash.
Now that I can open Dreamweaver CS3 and use it, I'm really
impressed with the upgrade.
