Bridge CS3 crashing at regular intervals

Question

I've been using Bridge to preview images in filmstrip view, using the arrow keys to scroll through the images and adding labels using the number keys as I go. I haven't counted so I can't be completely accurate, but after ten minutes / 150-200 images or so pressing the arrow key results in a "bong" noise and Bridge freezes, then I get the error message "Bridge has stopped working" and it closes down.
I've tried resetting the preferences by pressing CTRL when launching it, but this made no difference.
In case it's important, I uncheck the box in preferences that requires me to hold the CTRL key when assigning a label to an image using the number keys (so I can use just the number keys to assign a label), and this always needs to be unchecked again when I relaunch Bridge, i.e. the preferences reset themselves.
I'm running Vista Home Basic.
I've searched through the forum but haven't found anyone having the same problem. Any ideas?

Where do you have cache?  Is it on a specific partition (what size) or just on C drive?
If on C you might defrag it.  The constant write/erase of a cache operation and fragement a drive quickly, and PS needs large blocks of space to write files.
Also, if you change folders while the "wheel" is spinning in lower left corner it can cause crashes.
If you video card is overheating make sure you have adequate circulaltion even if you have to put a block under it to give it more breathing room.
But if it happens at predicitble times it is probably a memory issue.  How much RAM do you have?
