Bridge CS3 will not install

My Bridge CS3 will not install on my new Intel duo core iMac.  It worked on my earlier iMac, but when PhotoshopCS3 was moved and installed on the new one, Bridge was nowhere to be seen.  I have repaired permisisons, reinstalled PS CS3, and looked for Internet advice.
I would really like to continue to have the Bridge in the CS3.
Am I  going to have to rely on my new Lightroom Developer for its Camera RAW functions and for renaming my files?  I liked the Bridge RAW converter very much.  The old Bridge is still on my machine, but its renaming functions don't suit me at all,  and for some reason it is refusing to open my non-RAW files.

I still advocate Repairing Permissions (with Apple's Disk Utility) before AND after any system update or upgrade, as well as before AND after installing any software that requires an installer that asks for your password.
I have seen software installations go sour because the installer did not find everything as and where it should be.  I have also seen software installations go bad because the installer did not clean up after itself properly and did not leave everything as and where it should be.  This is just my own personal opinion and practice based on my own observations.
Others may disagree and that's OK. I can only base my routines and my advice to others on my own experience and conclusion. I don't pretend to know why others believe otherwise.  Note that this suggestion begins with "I still advocate…", not "Apple recommends…".
Repairing Permissions after the fact (i. e. not immediately before and after an install) may NOT help.  Try it anyway, though.
====       Additionally,  if your machine does not run 24/7 so that it runs the daily, weekly and monthly Cron Scripts in the middle of the night as intended by Apple, run Cocktail (shareware) as well.
Cron Scripts are maintenance routines designed by Apple to run on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in the middle of the night.  If you don't run them, you WILL run into trouble, sooner rather than later.
Here's an excerpt from the Apple tech doc http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107388  Mac OS X performs background maintenance tasks at certain times if the computer is not in sleep mode. If your computer is shut down or in sleep at the designated times, the maintenance does not occur. In that case, you may want or need to run these manually.
Mac OS X periodically runs background tasks that, in part, remove system files that are no longer needed. This includes purging older information from log files or deleting certain temporary items. These tasks do not run if the computer is shut down or in sleep mode. If the tasks do not run, it is possible that certain log files (such as system.log) may become very large. Also, from:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106978
The disk activity generated by find is a normal part of file system maintenance, used for tasks such as removing invisible temporary files that are used by the system. It is scheduled to occur early in the morning at 03:15 everyday, 04:30 on Saturdays, and 05:30 on the first day of each month.
NOTE: There have been comments to the effect that Apple "fixed" this in 10.4.2 and later versions of the OS, but I have not been able to verify this to my satisfaction.  The reference in the 10.4.2 release notes are far from explicit on this subject.    Other, more reliable reports indicate that this seems to have been fixed in the current version of Leopard.
In any event, Repairing Permissions and/or running the Cron Scripts cannot hurt.
If you have DiskWarrior, run it regularly too.  It can't hurt either, and it often improves stability and performance.

CS3 will not install on Windows 7, 64-bit. No error message. Just stops installing. This is a brand new machine. This is one of the first things I'm installing on it. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The disks are fine. I have the programs installed on my two XP machines. When I run the disk, I get the window pop up that says "Initializing Installation for Adobe Creative Suite 3". Then the disk stops spinning and nothing else happens. No error message. Nothing else happens. I'm baffled. I have searched several discussion boards and cannot find anybody that has had a similar install issue like this.

Old_Timer I would recommend reviewing your install logs to determine the exact error message.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the logs at Troubleshoot installation with install logs | CS3, CS4 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-installation-install-logs-cs3.html.

  • Bridge CS3 Will not open at all

Trying to reset preferences of an Adobe application by clicking a Desktop icon has never worked for me - not Bridge, not Photoshop, not any. However, THIS always works for me:
    Try this:
    1) Press and hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift, and do not release them until I tell you to.
    2) Select the following menus: Start => All Programs => Adobe (whatever suite) => Adobe Bridge CS3.
    3) You're still holding down the three keys, right?
    4) In a few moments, the Reset Settings dialog will appear containing three checkboxes.
    5) Finally, release the Ctrl+Alt+Shift.
    6) Turn on all three checkboxes and click OK.
People swear by the Ctrl+click icon method, but that has never worked for me.
You can also delete the cache manually:
    1) Browse to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\{your name}\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS3
    2) Delete the Cache folder found there.

  • Right click image in Bridge CS3 will not open images in Photoshop

    Hi,
    New to Bridge here.
I have a problem where I can double click an image (jpg, cr2, tiff, it does not matter what type) or right click + open or right click + open with Photoshop but Photoshop will not start.
For jpgs, if I right click + open with Internet Explorer, it will open the jpg in IE.
    Thanks.

Several different things to look at.
Go to edit/preferences/file type associations and see what the default settings are.  THe ones you mentioned should be set to CS3.
You can also right click on a photo and set open with CS3.
If that does not solve it there are also file associations in Windows that can be changed.

  • Acrobat CS3 will not install in Windows 7

I have a new computer and just installed Windows 7 (32 bit). I needed to install CS2 to complete some legacy projects and then installed CS3. Every component installed fine except Acrobat. I have uninstalled, deactivated both CS2 and CS3...and then installed CS3. No luck. I can reinstall CS2 (including Acrobat) with no problems...but Acrobat CS3 refuses to install. There have been many postings here saying that the Acrobat 8.1 update is needed, but that only works if Acrobat 8 is installed. I can't get that far.

Yeah, I think it falls into the same category of problems as "not a valid win32 application", "invalid signature", and "unknown publisher" messages ... usually all of which relate to installers getting damaged on the download.
At any rate, I'm glad you got things working again.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 Will Not Install PLEASE HELP TRIED EVERYTHING

I downloaded from Adobe the Photoshop CS3 Extended Trial directly from Adobe. (BTW I am on Vista 32)
The first time I tried installing, ADBEPHSPCS3_WWE.exe successfully unpacked, I successfully transitioned to the Adobe Photoshop CS3 installation, and it appeared to install. After 30 minutes or so, the installer finished and simply said that shared components had installed but the Photoshop CS3 Component install failed.
I always got in the log Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC,version="8.0.50727.163",type="win32",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18 e3b",processorArchitecture="x86"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information
This, I know, is everyones typical problem.
I turned off firewall and antivirus.
I uninstalled ALL Adobe and Macromedia programs, including Flash and Acrobat.
I used Windows Install Cleanup Utility to remove them.
I downloaded the CS3 Clear from Adobe and cleared at levels 1, 2, and 3.
I created the Administrator account on my computer and tried everything on the Administrator account.
I tried installing Photoshop CS3 with compatibility mode for XP SP2.
    I tried:
    1. Open an Administrator command prompt by right clicking on Start -> All
Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt and selecting "Run as
Administrator" and clicking "Allow" for the elevation prompt
    2. In the command prompt, type the command below
    fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\
    3. Reboot the machine
    I tried:
Get command prompt up. It has to be run with admin rights so save yourself some time and run it this way.........Start/programs/accessories/.....right click command prompt and click run as administrator.
Then paste these commands in 1 after the other
    regsvr32 vbscript.dll (THEN PRESS ENTER)
    and
    regsvr32 jscript.dll (AGAIN PRESS ENTER)
I even tried installing in Safe Mode but the CS3 setup would not initialize.
I do not know what else to do. I have CS2 which I will use, but I was really hoping to move to CS3 which is supposed to be better and faster. Does anyone know anything else to do? I am not a computer noob but I am not about to reinstall Vista. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

I was in the same predicament and after spend many hours over several days trying a multitude of things I finally found an easy fix (below):
    ========================================
Assuming you have Internet Explorer 7 go to:
    Tools/Internet option/Advanced
Click the Reset dialog box. This will bring IE7 back to its default settings. You should reboot your computer. After logging back into Windows load IE and let it take you though its initial setup. When you are done close IE and install Photoshop.. This worked for me,,, hopefully it will work for you!

    <begin soapbox mode>
Microsoft made a HORRIBLE design decision, way back with the very first version of Windoze, when they created a Registry file that was open to every program installed, or UNinstalled, on the computer
Over time, it is very common for the Registry to become so corrupted with bad or incomplete installs or UNinstalls, that no amount of tweaking will fix the problem
The only solution, as RB found, is to wipe the hard drive and install everything fresh
That HORRIBLE (this is, of course, only my opinion) design desision has cause more problems than anything else

If anyone is still following this, the advice to install Tiger was a complete and total disaster. As far as my experience is going, NEVER revert to an older system. My mail, documents, everything is a complete mess, has to be hand "carried" to the new/old system, apps don't work because they are not the correct version for the new/old system, etc. "Menu/Archive" Mail in my clone startup disk (leopard) doesn't work, so I can't get my mail to Tiger. I wish I had never heard of Adobe Photoshop Upgrade.

  • Despite having all the correct serial #'s CS3 will not install on new Imac

    Hi,
    Please Help.
I am trying to install CS3 on my new iMac 27 running 10.62.
First I just put in the CS3 disk, and when it came time for the full version number of
CS(full version). It would not accept it. Then I tried the serial number from my copy of
PS 7 (Full version), it would not accept that. Then I copied my copy of CS to the application folder
on the new machine and tried to install CS3 again. No go.
It could not detect the copy. Am I doing something incorrect?
I checked and rechecked the serial numbers, they are correct.

Bob, Thanks . This is what happened. I pulled my serial number from the start page of PS7, except it was an update 7.01 and I didn't notice. Anyway I pilled the disk and got the number off it. It installed fine.

  • Adobe CS3 - Will Not Install

I just bought Adobe CS3 today but when I click on the install
file, it does nothing. I have searched the web for help, but the
one or two solutions I did manage to find seem far beyond me. I am
on Windows Vista. Anyone have any solutions? Any responses would be
    greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

<start sarcasm> Hey, consider yourself lucky! At least
you can SEE the installation file! </end sarcasm>
Seriously, I am now trying to install a licensed boxed
version of Contribute CS3 on a second computer, and the computer
can't even read the CD in the CD-ROM drive! The computer acts like
there is no CD in the drive at all. In Windows Explorer, I get the
dreaded "insert CD in the drive" message when I try to view the
    contents of the CD.
I only tried to manually install the program because the
AutoPlay didn't work. Other than finding another computer whose
CD-ROM drive could read the installation CD, I can find no
solution. And THAT'S not a solution, foks.
My idea was to download / install the trial version, then
activate it with the purchased serial number.
I shouldn't have to do that! This is so bogus... I have been
waiting for my download link for nearly an hour.
Adobe, what are you going to do about this installation
problem?? Can we get our money back?

  • Cs3 will not install

Thanks to Ned Murphy's advice I have been able to download CS3 Design Standard from site. However I have been unable to install the software.
I'm installing on MAC and the original software is on the hard drive (transferred from my old and damaged MAC).
I have closed all applications but still no luck.
This message is generated about five seconds after a window appears indicating the installation is starting.
    Setup Error
Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance.
    Any advice appreciated. Thanks

    Hi Mylenium,
Your advice was crucial for the fix. I used the clean-up tool but did not work at first.
    I could not find caps.db.
I restarted the system and ran clean-up again.
The CS3 installation was successful after this.
Thanks a lot for the advice. Its taken a whole day but I finally have CS3 back up and running.

  • Encore CS3 will not install

    Hello
I've tried installing to XP32, XP64, Vista 32 & 64 and the new Windows7 32&64  with the same result each time... (encore failed to install)
The real kicker is that It installed for me before on this machine:
4G Ram; quad core 9000 series; no over clockin; Nvidia 250 (but tried others) I also replaced every thing... ram, cpu, motherboard, powersupply,
hard drives..... ect. one at a time then tried to re_install encore each time.
so basicly it has cost me an additional $2,000.00 + 20-30 hr. of time.
As you could imagine I am quite confused...........
    Can any body HELP???????
    Thanks

These are very general instructions for installation of most Adobe programs, and none might be specific to your exact situation.
1.) if it's a downloaded installation file, make sure to Extract that archived file with the FULL folder structure intact
2.) turn OFF all anti-virus, pop-up blocking and spy sweeping programs
3.) turn OFF all firewalls, etc.
4.) run as a full Administrator
5.) install to the C:\. The exact folder location can be changed from the default
Do not know if any of these will help, but do check that you have fulfilled each.
Good luck, and please let us know what worked, or did not, for you.

  • Bridge CS3 will not open

for the past few weeks i have been unable to open CS3 on my windows XP system.
I have tried reinstalling CS3 with no luck.
Everytime i try to launch brige after adelay i get the "Adobe Bridge has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience." message.
    can somebody help?

I had that problem and, when I looked in the Task Manager Processes tab, there was a hidden copy of Bridge already running. I killed it, disabled all autostart options in Photoshop and Bridge preferences, and it never happened again.

  • Installed Photoshop CC & Bridge CC Updates & now Bridge CC will not open at all

    Operating System - Windows 8.1
Video Card Version - NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 Driver Version 9.18.13.3788 updated 6-19-14
Processor - Intel Core i7-3770 12 GB RAM, 64 bit OS
    PS CC 14.21.1 x64
Bridge CC 6.1.0.116 x64 (I think, I cannot open the program to verify)
    Problem:
    Bridge CC will not open.
    How Problem Began:
I installed three updates on 6-19-14 - Photoshop CC, Bridge CC and Photoshop CC 2014.  After do that I could not open Bridge from the Windows Start menu, the task bar or from PS CC using  File>Browse in Bridge or File>Browse in Mini Bridge.  When trying to open from Start or the Task Bar the icon highlights for about 2 seconds then goes back to normal.
There is no error message or any message except when using File>Browse in Mini Bridge in which case a "waiting for Bridge CC..." message shows continuously but Bridge CC never launches.
NOTE: Bridge CC was used daily prior to updates with no issues.
    Steps Taken So Far:
    I uninstalled Photoshop CC 2014.
I uninstalled Bridge CC and Photoshop CC and reinstalled them with and without the above updates several times.
I called Adobe and was given this links with steps to try: Troubleshoot errors, freezes | Adobe Bridge | Windows, Mac OSI could not do any of the steps that required opening Bridge since that is the problem.  But I did verify no other versions were running in background, updated video card dirvers and temporaily disable scanning programs.
I deleted the SwitchBoard file per this page: Error: Waiting for Bridge | Mini Bridge panel
I created a new Windows user and attempted to open through that user.
None of the above had any impact.
Does anyone have suggestions of next steps to try to resolve this issue and get Bridge CC working again?
