Bridge CS5.1 not recognizing RAW from Canon 5DM3...

Hello All,
I'm having difficulty with Bridge CS5.1 recognizing RAW files from a recently aquired Canon 5DM3.
I've downloaded the 6.7 patch and ran the adobe installer (which gave no error), rebooited the Mac, ran subsequently "purge cache" under "tools", and still no avail.    The blank icon persist, "Camera Raw Options" continues to be unavailable, and cant find where the RAW data files are/were (compounding this problem is that macs and adobe are new to me).
I realize that this issue has been previously addressed, but following some of these suggestions, I still can't get the patch to work. Any suggestions and comments will be most appreciated.

Like Curt stated, in PS go to menu Photoshop / About Plug ins / Camera raw. This brings a window showing the correct version number of Adobe Camera Raw (it should state 6.7 and only one version visible.
On you system it should be in this location:
In Finder use column mode and click on your disk with the system on it (normally it shows 4 folders: Library , Users , Applications and System) Click on Library and follow this path / Application Support / Adobe / Plug-Ins / CS5.1 / File Formats. Inhere should be only one file called "Camera Raw.plugin"
If you click on this file the info next to it should show the version number, in your case 6.7

  • Cs5 not reading raw from canon t5i

CS5 is not reading my raw files from a new camera Canon T5i.  I read in a forum or somewhere to download camera raw 7.4 update.  I did and installed, but it's still not reading my raw files.  I also have lightroom 4, so I updated lightroom 4 and that does read them.  My CS5 appears up to date saying updated and no new updates available and again, downloaded camera raw 7.4 with no success.  But I prefer to do much of my processing in CS5.  Can anyone please help.  Thanks so much~Jennifer

Thanks so much. I purchased and installed the upgrade to CS6 via download, but it still doesn't seem to read the raw.  I have not yet unistalled CS5, I thought the one would override the other, but I must have to manually unistall CS5.  Do I need to do that before CS6 works correctly?  I also did a manual update for Camera Raw and it apparently didn't find any updates.  I also extrcted that update 7.4 update DNG converter, but perhaps I don't quite understand the digital negative files, but when I asked it to search my image folders, it also said files not found. Any additonal help would be much appreciated.  Thanks again!~Jennifer

  • Yosemite not recognizing .jpg from Canon 9000F Mark II

Since upgrading to Yosemite, when I scan a photo with my Canon Canonscan 9000F Mark II, the file is not recognized as a .jpg file, either in preview or Photoshop. Has anyone seen this and know an answer?
    Thanks.

It also does the same thing for me. Same scanner, using Yosemite, the resulting .jpg file results, when trying to open it, in an error that says, "It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn't recognize." There is no new driver for the scanner, and what about Yosemite would cause it not to recognize a .jpg file anyway?

  • Bridge CS5 not recognizing xmp files created on CS6?

An employee of mine edited several shoots, using her own computer.  She has CC and used Camera RAW.  I still use CS5 and am trying to process the files she edited (I have the RAW and the xmp files).  Typically, I process these through Bridge.  However, Bridge doesn't seem to recognize her xmp files.  Any ideas on 1. why this is happening, and 2. how I can apply her xmp files when converting the RAW to jpeg?  We are talking about 1500 images.  Thanks!

What camera model is she using?  What camera raw version are you using on your CS5?  Is her camera model supported by your cs5 acr?
Perhaps she could process her raw files+xmp into dng files to pass on to you.

  • PSE 10 not recognizing files from Canon 6D

I have PSE 10 and just purchased a Canon 6D.  PSE 10 will not open any of the files.  Everywhere I have looked gives updates for Lightroom and CS, but I have not seen anything for Elements.  What do I need to do?

Your choise is to update to Elements 11 (and ACR 7.x) or convert the 6D files using the free DNG Converter which will allow you open the DNGs in Elements 10.

  • Lightroom 4.4 not recognizing RAW files from supported cameras

I started to get problems with Lightroom not recognizing RAW files from my Fuji XE-1 and Canon 5D Mark 3 cameras but I thought it was a problem with RC. After downloading some files today in 4.4 without a problem I encountered the same error message (unable to inport listed RAW files) again. The files open fine in Bridge. Any idea what is causing this problem?

    Hi Geoff
I use a Mac with the latest version of Mountain Lion OS. The image files are being imported from the cards; in the case of the Fuji an SD card inserted in the card reader slot on the Mac and in the case of the Canon a CF flash card in a card reader attached to the Mac.
Appreciate any help you can provide.

  • Aperture has stopped recognizing RAW from my Canon SL1. It now displays "Unsupported Format. According to Apple Aperture should support RAw from the SL1.

I have 3.4.4 installed. Yesterday Aperture recognized RAW from my SL1; today it does not. I have already deleated the plist and repaired permissions to no avail. Suggestions.

I'm stymied at this point. I would like to try to redownload Aperture, but the APPStore will not allow it. In any case before I would do that I'd need to know how to reclaim my libraries after reinstalling.
If Aperture is installed, you cannot redownload it from the AppStore. Move it to the Trash, but do not empty the Trash, open the AppStore and sign in. If Aperture is not showing on the "Purchased" tab, reload the page with ⌘R. Now you should be able to reinstall Aperture, if you bought it originally from the AppStore.
But in this case, I think reinstalling the system would be more promissing. Tonight a new version of Mt. Lion has been released. Perhaps running the Software update will activate the new raw support again.
Some voodoo - I am not sure at all, if this can help in this case: With MacOS X 10.7.4 it sometimes helped to register the raw support for your camera with the launch services database - maybe this old problem has reoccured.

  • How can I update Camera raw for Photoshop CS5 to access images from Canon Rebel T4i?

How can I update Camera Raw for Photoshop CS5 to access images from Canon Rebel T4i? The updated version of Camera Raw 7 says it only works with CS6. Outside of buying a new Photoshop, is there anything I can do?

Buy Lightroom (much cheaper alternative to Photoshop) - does all your 'Photo-related' tasks. Full version of LightRoom 4 is $149/- - http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom.html
LightRoom 4 supports ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) 7. Once processed with Lightroom, if you still need, you could take the photo in JPG or TIFF format into Photoshop CS5 for further processing.
Another option is to use Canon Raw Codec that would've come with your camera's box to process the RAW images and then take them into Photoshop.

  • Do thumbnails show in Bridge CS5 if connected directly from a DSLR (via USB cable)?

I have a D90 and none of my thumbnails for my files show in Bridge CS5 when connected directly from the camera. This includes ALL types of files (JPEG, NEF, etc). It shows the thumbnails when I use a card reader though. Is this common with DSLRs?

If you have—misguidedly and unfortunately—done that already, first back up the image files on your computer, then immediately format the card in the camera, which will erase everything in the card and format it to a fresh, pristine state.
What ever possessed you to do a thing like that?
Had you done that to the card containing the raw files you can't open?
Do not be fooled by what the camera shows you anyway. The preview you see in the back of the camera when chimping* is not a preview of your raw file at all, but of the embedded JPEG that the camera creates right after you shoot and records inside your raw file.  The histogram it shows you in the camera is not based on the raw data at all either, but on said embedded JPEG.
The same is true when you review or playback the images later on the LCD display in the back of the camera.
*Chimping is a colloquial term used in digital photography to describe the habit of checking every photo on the camera display (LCD) immediately after capture.
The phrase is most likely derived from comparison between the sounds and actions some make while reviewing images and those of an excited primate (Oooh! Oooh! Aaah!), or when a photographer is completely absorbed in the act of analyzing, admiring or proudly displaying a shot to others.

  • How open raw from canon eos 70D in elements 11

I cannot open raw from canon eos 70D in photoshop elements 11. Help me please.

Your PSE is too old—the camera was released after a newer version of software was available and Adobe only adds new camera support to the newest version of software.
Specifically, the 7D Mark II needs ACR 8.7 and PSE12 can only be updated to ACR 8.5.
    Your choices are to:
Use the DNG Converter 8.7 or newer to create DNGs from the CR2s and those DNGs will open in the older version of ACR that comes with PSE12, OR
Buy the newer version of Element 13 that can be updated to a new enough Adobe Camera Raw plugin.
The DNG Converter is available from the Adobe Updates page:
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
And the newer version of Elements is available from the Adobe Products page:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software.html
Another option would be to use Lightroom 5.7 or newer and use Edit in Photoshop Elements from LR once most of your raw adjustments are done, for any final touches in Elements.
For any of these choices you’d want to download the latest updates and run the software in trial mode to make sure your computer is compatible before paying anything.
BTW, I have the 7D Mark II and like it very much, having upgraded from an older Digital Rebel, but I’m not that thrilled with the in-camera JPG processing so always use Adobe products for raw development.

  • Importing RAW from Canon 6D using LR3/Photoshop CS5 - help!

    I'm using light room 3 and Photoshop/bridge CS5.
I just got a new camera – a Canon 6D and none of the programs will read the files. It is indicated I need a new plug-in to support the camera – camera raw plug-in/supported cameras indicates a 60 is supported.
I found a support patch and downloaded: DNGConverter_7_3.exe.part and the application file:DNGConverter_7_3 (the application file size is indicated as 0 kB)
Neither Program Will Run under Windows 7 and I still can't open any of the raw files from my Canon 6D camera.
    Any Suggestions?

The EOS 6D was first supported in Camera Raw 7.3 and Lightroom 4.3

Camera Raw 7.3 is only compatible with Photoshop CS6 and higher. It is not compatible with CS5

  • Hex core efficiency in Bridge CS5 and Camera Raw 6.0

Conclusion: Batch processing of files in Bridge CS5/Camera Raw 6.0 is limited by an unknown factor which I currently believe to be software design and/or software implementation.  While performance on a dual core would be more or less CPU bound, and on a quad core would use the bulk of the available CPU power most of the time, on a hex core machine the CPU is woefully underutilized; i.e. I could be doing the same work in substantially less time.
Suggestion: At the very minimum, allow the option to have Bridge/Camera Raw process N (where we choose N, given that a dual socket motherboard will be able to have 24 cores in the very near future) files simultaneously, so we can tune our own systems for the disk IO vs CPU bottlenecks we each have.  At best, automatically keep the CPU(s) running all cores at or near peak all the time, or until you run out of disk IO bandwidth.
Observations taken with the Windows 7 Resource Monitor and the SirReal G15 keyboard applet
    Camera Raw Batch actions:
When I select a number of photographs (I typically select scores to hundreds), either fresh RAW files from a Canon 50D or existing DNG's converted with prior versions of Photoshop, and apply some change to all of them (for instance: changing from the 2003 Process with ACR 4.6 camera profile to the 2010 Process with the Camera Neutral camera profile, I see very tiny sections of disk IO (not exceeding 20MB/s on a high end SSD), no hard faults/s in memory, no real network IO, and CPU follows a very distinct pattern, with about .75 to 2 seconds at each of the following CPU levels, in sequence:
18 (one core plus a bit)
    70-88 (5ish cores)
18-23% (one core plus a bit)
    45-55% (about 3 cores)
    repeat
A very important feature for me, Bridge CS5 Preview Extractions on a new folder show 33-45MB/s of disk activity, and a solid, exact 25% (1.5 cores) of CPU with dips to 19% or so.  This very clearly indicates that the Preview Extraction feature isn't able to use most of the cores in my processor.
Build: a new build computer (Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H rev1.0, BIOS F6) with an AMD Thuban 1090T 3.2Ghz hex core (running 5% above clock, FSB change to 210Mhz from the 200Mhz default, Prime95 stable for days), with 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and all Bridge, Camera Raw, and Photoshop cache and files running on an OCZ Vertex Turbo SSD.  OS is Windows 7 64-bit.  OS level page file is completely disabled.

Is it possible you're overwhelming the main memory bandwidth by the fact that you are working on (multiple) large images?  Multi-core machines can only work on as much data as they can get from/to memory, and what you're doing is kind of flushing data right through the cache.  I'm less familiar with the AMD architecture, but doesn't the concept of 6 cores on one chip mean that they ALL share one main memory buss?  This could be a case where given the task, more cores is not better.
It may also very well be that the entirety of Photoshop, which is at its core a relatively old application (architecture-wise), is not programmed to use multi-threading as well as it might be.  Getting multi-threading to work right in an application is no picnic.  And don't forget, this software is crafted to build and work in two widely different environments (Mac and PC) and so may not be able to use all the fanciest features of any one of those two realms.

  • Bridge CS5 is Corrupting Raw and JPG Files Right Before My Eyes

I am using Bridge CS5 on a Mac to work on Raw files from a Canon camera.  The files all looked good in the cameras review, and looked good when downloaded to the computer then the files started to corrupt and become unusable one at a time as I watched.  They became all white or lines of color.  Not all of them corrupted yhough (about 225 of 1100 did though).  I eventually worked the uncorrupted files and even turned them into JPGs and sent them out.  The next day I pull up the pics in bridge to see if they are still bad.  All of a sudden files I opened and worked on yesterday started to corrupt one after another.  Both the JPG and Raw files are corrupt and unusable even though they worked yesterday.  It only happens when in Bridge.  What is going on?  This is riduculous.
    Terry

Thanks for responding.  What happens is I highlight a large group of files then click on open with Bridge or in Bridge I go to the subdirectory with the files.  All the files are in a filmstrip on the left side of the screen.  All of a sudden the file that I am viewing becomes corrupt (that is it turns into multiple horizontal lines of colors.  Then I can watch as it happens to one file after another.  I would compare it to when you quickly view film strips that were just uploaded and the initial thumbnail is blurry and then slowly all the thumbnails get clear as they process.  But here they appear to already be fine thumbnails but then turn into the files with horizontal lines or sometimes just 30% or so so of the pic is visible and the rest is white or gray.  When I try to open it the file cannot be opened because it is corrupt.  It happens to both the RAW and the JPG file (I shoot in Raw+JPG).  The first day it happened to about 200 of the 1200 files.  So I was able to process the 1000 good ones in Raw convertor and create JPGs with no trouble.  The next day I open all the files in Bridge again to see if the bad ones are good now and files I had already opened and were perfectly fine in RAW converter start to corrupt one after another like the ones did the day before.  So I doubt it is the card or hardware it only happens in Bridge.  Bridge must have the capability to do something to the files.  It isnt making XMF files so thats not it, it is actually corrupting the RAW and JPG files.  Have you ever heard of that.  I found another forum with what sounded like the same issue to someone who had a Canon:  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/645620
But this happened to Windows and I use MAC.....but I do use a 7D like them.  I still wonder if Bridge just doesnt work well with Canon 7Ds or something like that.  The above thread never found a solution.  Maybe someone from Adobe has heard of this from others and discovered a reason or solution.  Until then I cant trust Adobe products at all....which really sucks after how much it cost me, but whole shoots lost is worse, I guess.
