Bridge CS5.1 with Mavericks Mac OS - I lost my workspaces

I am running Adobe Bridge CS5.1 and, once upgrading to OS Mavericks, lost the ability to change to Output or any of the other workspaces. Workspaces is greyed out in the toolbar. I use that quite a bit to make contact sheets so I'd love to get that functionality back. Thanks!

I can't down-grade from OS X 10.9 to previous version. Because I have to test and develop apps. so I need Photoshop for UI design.

Thanks for getting in touch, part of my message was cut off! My problem is when I open up a raw file from desktop into bridge edit the raw image click done sending it back to the desktop as a raw file those changes do not appear on the desktop image. I've tried making an obvious change to an image making it b&w but again that does'nt appear on the desktop image, as mentioned I'm running CS5 with Mavericks 10.9.2.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just select Photoshop Manages Color, and the printer driver color options should be disabled.

Replace Bridge CS5 with Bridge CS6?

Hi All (my first post, whoop!),
Having been using Photoshop CS5 with Bridge CS5 happily for sometime, we've now purchased InDesign CS6 which has installed Bridge CS6.
Can I uninstall the now redundant Bridge CS5 without upsetting Photoshop?
I have searched this forum but couldn't find an answer (maybe I missed a thread somewhere).

No, you cannot uninstall Bridge separately. It's simply not possible for technical reasons. Bridge CS6 can use PS CS5, though, and conversely, PS will happily use a newer version of Bridge without much ado, give or take a few specific cases. Check the file associations in Bridge and your system in general.

ABSOLUTELY NOT !.
Blame the photographer nor the camera or the software.—unless it's a cr@ppy camera or lens.
The DNG Converter does not touch your raw pixels at all. It just takes them from the RAF wrapper and puts them in a new DNG wrapper.

Can't associate bridge cs5 with nef raw files

I have been trying to get win 7 to associate the bridge CS5 executable with NEF files.
It worked fine for CS4 and yes, i am going to file associations and choosing the bridge.exe for cs5 under x86 programs. It just ignores the choice and won't put it in the recommended program area.
I tried from the exploreer and control panel.
If i double click the bridge.esxe, it opens properly. it's just the auto associations which don't work.
Any suggestions?

No it can't. It is possible to do but the process requires a using a fair bit of code to create a logo/watermark then using a cutom script to write the logo/watermark, the results are not good unless a background to the logo is used. It does take a fair bit of time to do each one though, so it's not something I would persue or spend time developing.

Could be that it is not completely compatible. Have you tried to download the update from the Adobe website and manually update?

Trouble with Adobe Bridge CS5.5 for Mac Lion Photo downloader

Hi, I am having trouble with CS5.5 Bridge's photdownloader when I am trying to choose a folder location.
Im using Lion / Mac
When I try to choose say an external drive or another folder location it will freeze up and stay on "Choose" the button flashes on and off but when i try to click it it will not respond or select the desired file location
The photodownloader does not respond to any other commands..i have to force quit it..yes i have re-booted..re-started and problem remains..
The only way i can download photos is by choosing the first file option of the pictures file on my harddrive which is not want I wish to do..i have noticed that this started happening after the Raw update..was wondering if this is affecting Photodownloader..
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..thank you

I agree with Jennie - the beauty of "get photos from camera" is that it takes 2 steps out of the workaround you mention above. Personally, I'm okay living with 6.4.1, as I have an older camera. I won't be happy if one of the push updates re-updates me to 6.5 though. I wouldn't want to redo the reinstallation of the new version. This method will not work for any of my clients or students though - they normally can't comfortably follow the technicality of downgrading, and some have newer cameras and would need the 6.5 version. (I don't believe in betas for my clients, and neither do they, for the most part)
I guess I should thank Adobe - some of my clients have needed tech support to perform the downgrade (SO many people aren't comfortable technically), and some of my clients needed to be retaught the workaround SG mentions. Adobe's flub has actually made me a little money - which I'd rather not have to make this way.
SG's workaround does work and makes sense - but for my clients with hundreds of images at a time, who have to rename items, add copyright info, & etc., this more than doubles their work-time for the start of their workflow. I hope Adobe gets that GM version out soon.
BTW - this issue supports an argument I've hadfor years regarding "PUSH" updates. I always tell my clients and students not to do them until they research the update. Because of what I do, I do have to install them personally, but I'm grateful I'm comfortable fixing things myself.

Glitchy GUI in Bridge CS5.1 on Mac

I've been using bridge all day to browse photos and transfer to Photoshop for editing. I took a lunch break and when I got back a half hour later, nothing in Bridge's interface updates until I drag the Bridge window around. If I click on a folder to open it, I don't see anything change. It doesn't highlight the folder or anything, but once I click the top of the window and drag it around it updates and I see the opened folder. Also, if I try to change the workspace, only a few of the elements are changed. Then if I go through the menus or open preferences, the GUI updates only where it was covered by another window. I attached a photo showing what I mean.
I already tried deleting unneeded items in the cache and restarting Bridge several times. Any advice?

I got bridge with the educational edition of Design Premium CS5.5 and I freshly reinstalled my entire system a few months ago. I've had no problems until today, I've done absolutely nothing in Bridge but browse photos and transfer to camera raw and Photoshop.

Probably something to do with OS and sleep cycle. Lots of comuters have a hard time waking up.
Next time it happens try resetting the workspace, in Window/Workspace (at least in PC).

Bridge "open with" issue Mac OS

I am using CS6 on a Mac and when I choose to open a file with the "open with" command from the edit menu or right clicking the file I get mutliple options of numorus editors. Photoshop, Nik apps, Color sync utility, Preview. They will all open but some open with older versions.
Bottom line is I need to pair down Bridge's offered choices to just one of every application. Yes only one version of every app is installed.

I appreciate your reply. I resolved the issue I was incurring. I kept a clone of my hardrive mounted on the desktop at all times. The primary OS that Bridge was operating under would access this clone for choices too. Weird yes, so once I ejected the disk the issue went away.

If I have Photoshop CS5, is it ok to upgrade to Mavericks on my iMac?

Today I just upgrade to Mavericks and have the same problem. Even the same system (mavericks) pop up a window tell me to download the java run time upgrade ...I canceled by mistake ...and when I click the Photoshop icon ...the same window pop up
After I install the java upgrade ...they opened just fine, all the CS5 ...even the CS3 ...just in case, give it one more shot. maybe it will work.

I dont fully understand your problem here,
1. Did your computer shut down or 'die' or did you save and then you cant find it?
2. Have you tried looking in spotlight (little magnifying glass up the corner)
3. Have you tried opening the program again? In word and pages, if the program exited forcefully, opening it again will restore the document.

Bridge CS5 is Corrupting Raw and JPG Files Right Before My Eyes

I am using Bridge CS5 on a Mac to work on Raw files from a Canon camera. The files all looked good in the cameras review, and looked good when downloaded to the computer then the files started to corrupt and become unusable one at a time as I watched. They became all white or lines of color. Not all of them corrupted yhough (about 225 of 1100 did though). I eventually worked the uncorrupted files and even turned them into JPGs and sent them out. The next day I pull up the pics in bridge to see if they are still bad. All of a sudden files I opened and worked on yesterday started to corrupt one after another. Both the JPG and Raw files are corrupt and unusable even though they worked yesterday. It only happens when in Bridge. What is going on? This is riduculous.

Thanks for responding. What happens is I highlight a large group of files then click on open with Bridge or in Bridge I go to the subdirectory with the files. All the files are in a filmstrip on the left side of the screen. All of a sudden the file that I am viewing becomes corrupt (that is it turns into multiple horizontal lines of colors. Then I can watch as it happens to one file after another. I would compare it to when you quickly view film strips that were just uploaded and the initial thumbnail is blurry and then slowly all the thumbnails get clear as they process. But here they appear to already be fine thumbnails but then turn into the files with horizontal lines or sometimes just 30% or so so of the pic is visible and the rest is white or gray. When I try to open it the file cannot be opened because it is corrupt. It happens to both the RAW and the JPG file (I shoot in Raw+JPG). The first day it happened to about 200 of the 1200 files. So I was able to process the 1000 good ones in Raw convertor and create JPGs with no trouble. The next day I open all the files in Bridge again to see if the bad ones are good now and files I had already opened and were perfectly fine in RAW converter start to corrupt one after another like the ones did the day before. So I doubt it is the card or hardware it only happens in Bridge. Bridge must have the capability to do something to the files. It isnt making XMF files so thats not it, it is actually corrupting the RAW and JPG files. Have you ever heard of that. But this happened to Windows and I use MAC.....but I do use a 7D like them. I still wonder if Bridge just doesnt work well with Canon 7Ds or something like that. The above thread never found a solution. Maybe someone from Adobe has heard of this from others and discovered a reason or solution. Until then I cant trust Adobe products at all....which really sucks after how much it cost me, but whole shoots lost is worse, I guess.

Bridge cs5 camera raw 6.5 to 6.5 and new bridge cs6 preview problem

when i actualize camera raw from 6.5 to 6.6 the preview can`t give me right preview after 1 adjustment in camera raw.Image apears like when we open it in camera raw and it last few seconds with the yellow exclamation mark.
Months ago the only solution i found after several instals was to turn back to camera raw 6.5.
Now im trying beta bridge cs6 and problem come back for me again.
I use Nikon D3x with 14 bits ~49MB .nef files in Windows 7 64 bits.
Is any one have same problem?And why only in 6.6 (and new camera raw 7.0) and not in 6.5?

The Canon 6D id NOT supported by ACR 6.7.1. It was supported for the very first time in ACR 7.3 whch requires CS6 to run.
Therefore you will never be able to open raw CR2 files from the 6D directly in CS5.
If you do not plan on upgrading, you can download the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.3 (always use the latest version, it's not tied to your version of Photoshop at all), install it like any other application and then run it on each batch of CR2 files to convert them to raw DNG files that you can then open in your version of Photoshop and ACR.
