Bridge cs5 crashes
Bridge CS5 version 4.0.0.529, Win 8.1 64 Bit. When moving files between folders, the program crashes and I have to restart from scratch. When I reboot the program, the files have been moved, but I have to go back to the original folder I was working in and it's just a big pain. Any cure for this?
Robert,
No, I have not found a solution. My Bridge crashes as soon as I even hint at moving a file or folder by dragging. I have given up!
I can't just keep resetting the preferences, even if it did work for more than a few hours. I envy those who can use Bridge without
problems. The only times I try to move/copy files is after some update, but there have been none so far that have cured the problem
for me. I am obliged to use a handicapped piece of software, working around this deficiency as best I can.
I just don't swallow the suggestion that something is awry on my system. Every single program that I have installed (including of course
Photoshop itself) works perfectly, every time. So why Bridge? There, you got me started again
Stay well,
Ian

Bridge CS5 crashes when opening
Joseph Heller would be proud.
Adobe Bridge, CS5 crashes when starting up. I downloaded Photoshop CS5 Extended, installed it on my new MacBook Air (this computer has never seen any CSx product). Installed the CS5 serial number, installed the SC4 legacy serial number, all is well. Photoshop runs fine. I installed all my Nik plugins and Bokeh Plugin. All is well. I tried running Bridge, and it crashes during the launch "The operation could not be completed. An unknown operating system error has occurred." Adobe released an update, which I downloaded, but during installation, it too crashed (couldn't perform the update and provided a link to Adobe support.
Fours hours later with Adobe. Tried:
1) Deleting the PLIST file for Bridge, no luck.
2) Tried the Option Bridge trick to reset all preferences in Bridge, no luck.
3) Created a new Admin account, logged into it, Bridge worked.
4) Adobe technical help said it is now an Apple problem since the program worked with the new admin account.
5) Apple said pound sand, it's an Adobe program, it should work regardless of which admin account.
6) Back to Adobe, talked to third level (still tier 1) person, it's an Apple problem. He suggested deactivating Photoshop, un-install Photoshop, run a clean script (which I just downloaded but haven't tried) which will wipe out any files that has to do with CS5 that the un-install program doesn't un-install (totally logical), re-download and re-install everything, again (I haven't tried this yet).
Doing a Google search for Bridge crashing while opening reveals a frightening amount of comments with people having similar problems (don't even get me started about Adobe Air).
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Arnie...Guess I'll have to take it to the Apple store and have them reinstall everything. My first experience with Macs is making Microsoft look totally brilliand at this point. I guess the thing that has really ticked me off about this whole thing is that Apple support (who must obviously know of this kind of problem) wouldn't give me the time of day unless I paid $249 for their care plan because I was past my 90 day "warranty"
Sorry to hear that and yes, support from big companies is not what it should be, can't argue with that.
However assuming you did back up important files (if you had any in that short period) and you have all the serial numbers there should be no problem to install all of it your self again if needed.
If you keep pressing the on/off button on your machine it will get you a force Quit and the machine will shut down. The press again to restart and if no luck try to insert the install disk (but here i'm a bit at loss, don't use Lion yet and have not bought a new Mac for 3 years but I assume there is still an install or repair disk that comes with your MacBook??)
With the disk in the player keep pressing the 'c' key when starting the computer and the computer starts from the disk.
You can first use disk utility from the install disk and use the option to check and repair disk first.
It really is not difficult and you will be better off when experience installation by yourself and in no time don't need support anymore -

There are few people able to read such a crash report, not many (if at all) in this forum. This would be more a tech support case for Adobe.
Also you might produce more details about disk size and workflow, what computer do you use and how much RAM is installed on this system.
First observation is that you don't have the latest version for Bridge CS5 should be 4.0.5 (and something, don't have CS5 myself anymore installed so can't check).
And what did you set up for Bridge regarding these drives. Do you have disk permissions for read and write for both disks. Normally Bridge should be able to read folders from external drives but having set exporting cache to folders might cause problems as well as setting the cache location to external drives.
And if the G-drives are 3 TB or above does the OSX 10.6.8 and computer support those disk sizes (current MacOs is 10.8)

Bridge CS5 crashes immediately, spinning pinwheel of doom. HELP!
Ok guys, I recently installed CS5 Design Premium to my MBP running OS X 10.6.4. Everything works just fine except Bridge. Every time I open Bridge, it immediately goes into the spinning pinwheel icon and my only option is to Force Quit. It won't let me access any menus or anything, it just hard crashes every time. Help!! Any ideas?
Any other ideas?
Go to the user library and from the preferences folder find and delete the
plist file for Bridge, for Bridge CS5 this should be called: '
com.adobe.bridge4.plist' and if you have other versions for Bridge as plist
as well and don't use other CS version delete those to.
From the same library go to the folder Caches/Adobe/BridgeCS5 and delete
both items from that folder.
Restart Bridge again with holding down option key and again choose refresh
preferences. After restart the above deleted files refresh them selves with
new once.
Hope this helps, if not create an extra user account just for testing. If it
works in there do system maintenance with check and repair permissions using
Apple Disk Utility or other maintenance software. -
Bridge CS5 Crashes permanently
Hello Folks,
does anybody when the problem will fixed, that the Bridge CS5 (present version: 4.0.2.1, on VISTA) crashes every 2 Minutes?
For Example, I have a folder with 2'600 RAW's. When I will work with the files the Bridge crashes (complete abord, without saving of anything).
Examples:
Select a few files, Right-Click, Move ---> Crash
Selet a few files, hold CRTL, press Left Mouse button, hold and move a little bit (it's going into the drag mode) ---> Crash
Thank you for your support.
Kind regards
Wolfbtw: If it helps, her is the event log, after crashing...

Bridge CS5 crashes repeatedly (CS4 did too)
A typical workflow for me is to open 4-5 raw files (.dngs) in Camera Raw from Bridge, edit them, save them as tiffs, return to Bridge, and move the raw files to a sub-folder. My problem usually arises when I try to move the raw files. Bridge moves them, but at the same time it crashes. I can move 1 file at a time without crashing, but not 2 or more.
I hoped CS5 would solve this problem, but it hasn’t. I've trashed my prefs, several times. I've purged the cache, several times. I've changed my openGL settings in Photoshop to Basic. Each thing I try works for a short time (meaning that for about an hour I can move 2 .dngs at a time into subfolders after editing/saving in Camera Raw). Then it stops working, and I’m back to repeated crashes.
I’m running Photoshop CS5 x64 in Windows 7, with 12 GB of Ram, an i7 quad-core processor, and an ATI Radeon 4870 graphics card. Photoshop CS4, and now CS5, work like a dream; and so does Camera Raw. I know Bridge can’t see most of that RAM, but I'd really like it to work for me as well as it did in CS3, on a much older, slower machine.
Is this a problem other people have had? I haven’t been able to find much about it in the forums or Google, only a solution involving an nVidia graphics card, which I don't have. Oh - I've got the latest drivers for my graphics card, etc.
MaryRobert,
No, I have not found a solution.
Stay well,

Bridge CS5 Crashes when navigating video clips
i recently switched to a tapeless workflow with the canon 60D. I love how simple it is to work with the footage from it in the adobe products, but I've been having a lot of trouble with Bridge. Every time I try to preview the clips, or just browse the clips for too long it goes grey and says it's not responding. Has anyone else had this issue? Everything on my PC is up to date.
If you need it, here are my specs.
HPE-180t
i7930 2.80ghz
9gb ram
ATI radeon 5770
Hitachi Deskstar HD at 1TB
CS5 Master collectionFor the Nvidia issue Curt mentioned, it's some type of Nvidia GPU cards on Windows XP SP3 may cause Bridge CS4 or CS5 BSOD, including
- Quadro FX1400
- GeForce 8800/7800/6600
- Driver version: 6.14.0011.9107
Solution is to install the Nvidia driver 196.21, or an older version driver, like 6.14.0011.8585. See http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_196.21_whql.html

Bridge CS5 crashes with an unhandle exception Just-In-Time
I have problem on Win XP, SP3 with following message:
Bridge crashes e.g. if I load images for removable disc, if I click on thumbnail in Bridge etc.
I am not able how to solve this problem.
Any idea will be appreciated. The plug-in comment refered to Visual Studio. If Bridge worked yesterday and today it does not, and you have made no other changes in hardware or software I would reset the preferences.
Close Bridge and then hold down the Crtl key while starting Bridge. You should get a reset window with 3 options. -
Bridge CS5 Windows crashes when I command/move or drag/drop files internally
Bridge CS5 crashes with a Microsoft "report error" dialog whenever I drag images from one folder to another inside of Bridge, or use the right-click "Move To . . ." mouse command. After months of successful use of the Bridge CS5, this behavior suddenly began. Unfortunately, I can't now remember whether I did anything to my Windows environment at that time. Bridge does not have trouble with dragging or command/moving files into Photoshop, but dragging image files (jpg) from a search screen or the Windows Explorer can also end in a crash.
I'm running Windows XP SP3 32-bit on a 4-processor machine with adequate ram and lots of hard drive/scratch drive. I deinstalled every trace of Bridge and reinstalled the upgrade 4.0.2.1, which makes me up to date. Working with Adobe Support I also cleared and uninstalled, and then reinstalled Photoshop, Bridge, etc. to fix some other problems.
I have experimented with purging the Bridge cache for individual folders I was dragging from and to, but didn't purge all caches. Typically, the crash appears a few seconds after dragging/moving a file - continuosly sucking-me into thinking things are at last repaired. On occasion images are lost - i.e. really destroyed, or dropped into some limbo somewhere.
I'd be truly grateful for any ideas to try, no matter how extensive or simple.
Thanks!Hi Robert,
I'm a developer from Br team. Thanks for reporting Br. problems.
It seems like a memory issue. Please try this to help us identify the root cause:
1. Disable all startup scripts (Edit->Preferences->Startup Scripts->Disable All), then restart Br.
2. When Br is running, kill "SwitchBoard" process in task manager.
3. When do Copy&Move operations, don't use Drag&Drop, try to use "Move To / Copy To" menu. (A known issue of Bridge, should be fixed in later versions)
Does the crash still happens?
Thanks very much! -
Adobe Bridge CS5.1 - Edit Export Preset Crash
I have successfully duplicated this issue on multiple machines, multiple user accounts running variations of 10.7 - 10.7.2. All Adobe updates applied.
Open Bridge CS5.1 > Click on EXPORT Panel tab > Save to Hard Drive (double click to edit) > choose Browse...
If you don't crash at this point... choose cancel and then select Browse again. You may also successfully select a folder, then go back and reedit preset by selecting Browse again... Crash.
I feel like I have tried it all... clean OS X, clean install of CS5.5 - no luck.
RyanSame problem here. It's really frustrating. Thinking of ditching Bridge and switching to another app. If I can't batch export RAW to JPEG, the program is pretty useless.

Bridge CS5 won't open at all, crashes immediately
Hi you guys,
I have been using Photoshop CS5 for a number of months now, without any problems. Yesterday, just suddenly, Bridge just bombed out. And I mean it crashes completely, not even a spinning ball or a 'stop responding', it just disappears from the screen. The first time the crash generated an Apple Crash Report, as well as an Adobe one. After that, when I click on the Bridge icon, it bounces, no dot appears on the dock under the icon and after a while the icon stops bouncing and another Apple Crash Report gets generated. It does not generate an Adobe crash report because, I suspect, the program does not go far enough.
I have tried the following:
Option clicked the B Icon - straight to Apple crash report.
Open B in PS, PS works perfectly and stays operational, but B generates an Apple crash report. I also tried mini B, the dock opens with message "waiting for Bridge", and nothing further happens.
Checked permissions in my Library for the following, all well:
Caches/Adobe/Bridge CS5
Application Support/Adobe/Bridge CS5
com.adobe.bridge4.plist file
Verified and repaired permissions in DU, just in case. No luck.
Created a new user account and tried to open B - straight to Apple crash report.
Deleted the PLIST file and the items in Cashes (as suggested in another tread) - straight to Apple crash report.
I have not yet tried a reinstall. I upgraded to CS5 from CS3 and I still have it sitting on my hard drive. In a previous thread I asked what to do with CS3 and the consensus was to leave well alone. Everything worked and I did not need the disk space. In fact, Bridge CS3 still opens without a problem. If a reinstall is necessary, how do I go about it then? Do I
deregister CS3 and CS5 and uninstall and reinstall the whole lot?
deregister and uninstall and reinstall CS5 only?
don't deregister and just reinstall the whole lot without uninstalling it first?
don't deregister and just reinstall CS5 only without uninstalling it first?
And if I have to uninstall, do I have to run one or all of the cleanup utilities of Adobe?
I have also not contacted Adobe help because I have an American copy of Photoshop and live in Europe. That disqualifies me from Adobe support.
Here is my system:
iMac 5 with 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Mac OS X 10.6.6

Message was edited by: JfromSAHi guys,
Thanks for your time and trouble. Much appreciated.
I haven't been back because my iMac went from bad to worse and in the end I've had a complete system crash. The 2007 iMac G5 I have, is notorius for screen problems. Mine went pop in 2009 after only 18 months of use and was replaced by Apple after a war of words and overwhelming evidence of similar problems for that model on the internet. During that episode the machine was shut down with the power button several times, by me, by the shop and also by the technicians who had to diagnose and repair the computer (I have often wondered why Apple does not have an equivalent of the 'Windows' button, because via that it's easy to shut down a PC blind: Windows button>U>Return . . . the OS shuts down. Not clever of a company who regards themselves as 'Quality' with a self proclaimed capital Q). I suspect my computer picked up some hardware damage with the constant hard shutdowns. I was actually waiting for the next problem, I never really trusted the machine completely. But, as time passed, I got relaxed about it and did not notice the small signs developing like Bridge (and to a lesser extent, Photoshop) actually slowing down more and more the last couple of weeks. Now, in retrospect I can say that, but it was really very subtle. I did, after the screen episode, got into a routine of backing up my system regularly.
After the Bridge problem began, I tried a re-install, a Time Machine restore and eventually started fiddling with Disk Utility, trying to fix the hard drive. To make a long story short, all I get now when I power up the machine is a white screen with a spinning disk under the Apple emblem. I do know that the internal hard drive had issues because that was reported by Disk Utility, I still do not know what the damage is because I still have to take the machine in for repairs.
In the meantime, I am working on another iMac. I have installed all my software from scratch and I'm now trying to restore my old system - my PS actions, ACR actions, all my mails and other documents and my music. The problem I now have is that I had my user account encrypted with File Vault, while backing up with Time Machine. To everyone doing that, please don't - turn File Vault off and then back up. All my carefully backed-up files are now encrypted and can only be accessed with my broken computer! I can NOT restore my system to another computer! With older versions of Mac OS X (and, probably Time Machine), it's possible to use Finder to navigate to the encrypted back-up folder, double-click it and access your data with your master password and restore it by simply dragging and dropping the files on the new computer (but under no circumstances delete or change the back-up files in any way! And applications would, most probably not drag and drop without a problem, but there I stand to be corrected). With OS X 10.6 it is not possible any more to access data via Finder in that way. I know, because I can access my data up to end 2009, the rest is there but not accessible. I have searched everywhere on the internet and as yet, have not found a solution.
The other problem with Apple, I found out, is that in normal operations, it works so well and all is so easy that I don't really read any instructions. There is no need. Everything just happens, it's actually too intuitive. Not once, while setting up File Vault or Time Machine, was I warned that it might be a problem. Now, when I poke around on the internet, there are many posts that warn against that but I did not search for them because I had no clue! I just hope, after the faulty parts on my G5 is replaced, I can get into my back-ups. I shall keep searching and trying to find a solution. If I get one, I shall post here again for those of you with similar problems. I know this is no longer a Bridge or Adobe problem, I just thought I must report back, maybe the knowledge will help someone else.
Cheers,
Jay -
Bridge CS6 crashes on startup after upgrade from CS5
Yesterday I upgraded to Photoshop CS6 using an install disk mailed from Adobe. Photoshop CS6 itself appears to be working fine, but both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Bridge CS6 crash on startup with the standard Windows popup ("Adobe Bridge CS6 has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution..."). Bridge CS5 still works great, as it did before the CS6 installation.
The Windows Event Viewer shows the following message for the crash of the 64-bit version:

I've rebooted multiple times and tried reinstalling from the upgrade disk, but the problem persists.
The installation is on a machine dedicated to Photoshop whose system info is included below. I'm running a multi-disk setup with 1 SSD as my C drive, another SSD for Temp and Scratch (in different partitions on the same SSD), and a RAID 5 array of hard drives for the actual image files. To my knowledge I'm running with the latest drivers of everything.
I'm not sure how to move forward at this point. Any information or assistance would be most appreciated.

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEThanks Curt, but this is not a virus issue. Think about it, how could the ntdll.dll file be virus infected and yet only impact the running of this single application? That really wouldn't make sense now would it? That library is critical to many windows function and if it were virus infected, I would have more things to worry about that trying to get Bridge to launch.
I already did my homework on that before I posted here and tried some of the things suggested on verifying the integrity of my system files. The Digital Signature Information shows to be okay.
It could be that I upgraded this system from Windows XP Professional to Windows Vista Business and that I have an old (CS2) install that I did not remove from the computer. I have done a variety of things to try and get to the root, but to no avail. I am sure that if I were willing to start completely from scratch and do a clean install of the OS, I may be able to get it to work. I don't really have time to do that however, and since I am not the only person who has had the issue with Bridge failing to start, I suspect the solution lies somewhere within the architecture of Bridge in CS6 that is at the root of my problem.
I am hoping that someone from Adobe will finally figure it out and provide an update that works. -
Adobe Bridge CS5.1 crashes if directory contains .zip archive
Every time I try to open a directory that contains .zip archive in Adobe Bridge CS5.1 it crashes. This started to happen after Mountain Lion upgrade.
It crashes even when I generate .zip archive in a directory that is already opened in Bridge.
Is it related to some new Mountain Lion "security feature" that can be turned off? My computers only purpose is running Adobe Creative Suite so this is pretty big issue. Browsing directories in Bridge is like walking through the mine field, you newer know where .zip archive is waiting.Yep, same here. Running Adobe bridge CS5.1, upgraded to Mountain Lion yesterday. Navigated to folder that contained a zip file and Bridge crashed. I removed the zip file, launched Bridge again, and went to that same folder. Worked perfectly. On a hunch, I dragged a zip file back into that folder in Bridge, and *WHAP* down she goes again.
Looks like we wait for a fix. *sigh*
Unless...File type association somehow comes into it? Interesting, I just checked (it's under Preferences) and neither a zip file or a doc file is in the list.
Furthermore, there doesn't seem to be any way to add a new file type. Hm. Don't know if it has anything to do with the crashing, but man, what a pain this is! -
CS5 Crashing on MacBook Pro (Possibly Adobe Bridge)
Using OSX 10.6.3 on MacBook Pro with 8Gb RAM and no previous issues or crashes (ever!)
I have just purchased and installed Adobe Master Collection. It seems to work fine when installed on Macbook Pro but after a restart:
I am unble to move mouse around and get very slow responses from the top menu bar
A force quit reveals that Adobe Bridge is running but wont allow me to force quit it
Nothing else works except the mouse can still move around
A restart of the system in safe mode then uninstalling the whole suite removed any problems and the mac ran fine.
I reinstalled it again and exactly the same problems.
Tried it on an imac with no issues
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can uninstall Adobe Bridge without uninstalling the other packages as I suspect this is causing the problem?
Anyone else with the same issues?I used a little program called Appzapper to remove Adobe Bridge CS5 and but the same problem persists.
I can mouse around but nothing works. -
Corel Painter RIF Files In Adobe Bridge CS5.1?
Hello,
Does anyone know how I can view Corel Painter 12 RIF file thumbnails in Adobe Bridge CS5.1 For Windows? Right now Bridge just shows a blank icon. When I used Painter 11, the RIF file icons showed a thumbnail of its image in Bridge. When I upgraded to Painter 12 this went away. I can see the Painter RIF file thumbs in Windows Explorer, but not within any Adobe application.
Anyone?
Thanks,

"preview" is fine, but it doesn't "burn" that way
I created an iDVD project from stuff put together in iMovie. (about 25 minutes) I burned about 20 copies just fine. Now, however, newly burned dvd copies are missing lots of stuff but the raw video from the camera - no title page, no music, no photos
