Bridge CS5 using lots of memory and give out-of-memory errors

Hi,
I'm using Bridge CS5 with the latest updates on Vista 32bit 4GB RAM on quad core machine.
Bridge memory seems to keep raising during the usage, browsing a new folder seems to raise it a bit and previewing files raise it alot, mainly when I preview a large 18MP files. (Bridge seems to not freeing the memory and re-use it... leaking(?) )
Very quickly the Bridge RAM usage is reaching about 1GB and at this point Bridge gives warnings that it can't generate 100% previews.
When I restart Bridge, it works fine for a while until the memory start raising again.
(It takes about 5-6 100% previews of 18MP files to reach that RAM usage - so the problem occurs rather quickly)
I've tried limiting the cache in the preferences and disable caching of 100% previews -- didn't help.
Any ideas?

a larger page file - no change.
(I doubt it will help as 32bit OS can't accessthat much memory anyways)
I'm not sure why you think it's a HD/page file problem? like I said, I don't have a speed problem of an issue with files not being cached.
My problem is that Bridge memory usage keep growing without any reason I can see - and at some point Bridge stops functioning correctly cause of it.
I deleted all my cache, and browsed a folder with under 1000 files, and after previewing about 5-6 files in 100% - bridge memory usage was close to 1GB.
currently my cache is set to 10000 files and not caching 100% previews.
Where did you find other peoping reporting on such a problem? I mostly find people reporting out-of-storag errors and crashes -- I have neither of those.

Because they require that much memory and because the processes are always in use.
This is one reason why the minimum system memory requirement is 1 GB.
Now, you have one third-party process listed, clamd, which is used by ClamXAV anti-virus software. If you can uninstall it you will recover the memory needed by clamd.

AT USER-COMMAND is a list Event.This Event is triggered when user make an action on the Application Toolber Or Menubar.
Here is the Program.
START-OF-SELECTION.
SET PF-STATUS 'TEST'.
WRITE: 'Basic list, SY-LSIND =', sy-lsind.
AT LINE-SELECTION.
WRITE: 'LINE-SELECTION, SY-LSIND =', sy-lsind.
AT USER-COMMAND.

ENDCASE.
This program uses a status TEST, defined in the Menu Painter.
Function key F5 has the function code TEST and the text Test for demo.
Function code TEST is entered in the List menu.
The function codes PICK and TEST are assigned to pushbuttons.
The user can trigger the AT USER-COMMAND event either by pressing F5 , or by choosing List -> Test for demo, or by choosing the pushbutton 'Test for demo'.The user can trigger the AT LINE-SELECTION event by selecting a line.

If it were truly a backup, then the media would play on the laptop as it would be on the laptop.
Sounds like you actually do not have a backup, instead you chose to keep your media on an external drive.
Regardless of where the media is stored, it's always a good idea to have a backup for instances like this.

ACE duplicate ack and tcp out-of-order errors

Hi,
I have just performed a capture using a NAM in my 6500 on the port attached to my ACE appliance.
What i have noticed in the capture is a lot of duplicate ack errors and tcp out-of-sync errors.
The reason we found this was becuase the link utilisation per session seems higher than we expected, hence are the errors adding to this and is there any way to remedy them?

Hi Scott,
I'm not sure why you would see duplicate packets, although when you use SPAN, I know you can see them when you configure it to capture both directions on a VLAN. This is because you see each packet as it enters and leaves the VLAN. I don't know if that would apply to a NAM.
One thing you could do is use the ACE 4710's built-in capture utility to see if you see the same symptoms from an alternative source. This is covered in the Capturing Packet Information section of the configuration guides.

Adobe Reader 8 open pdf very slow and used lots of memory

I use the Adobe Reader 8 to open a pdf(the pdf size not bigger than 100k)
but when i open it, it take long time to load it and use so many memory,
also, i do not have this problem on using adobe reader 7, would any one know the reason?

It's a bit old though.
Also, do you have the stupid adobe startup program for reader running? This speeds up the loading of adobe reader while simultaneously slowing down your whole system. Great tradeoff.

Bridge CS5.1 Tools are missing and there are no startup scripts available.

Brand new MBP with Creative Suite CS5. Not sure what happened to the Bridge Image Processing Tools that where readily available in CS4. I looked for the Startup Scripts mentioned in other forum posts but this folder is empty: Library > Application Support > Adobe > Bridge CS5.1.
Why make us hunt for Startup Scripts?

I think you may be misunderstanding me.
With many advantages with using mail for this forum the disadvantage sometimes is you don't have oversight in the whole thread.
I was merely reacting on Curt with the CS5 and CS5.5 solution that solved some problems earlier this year but reading the thread again that seems not related to yours.
Shortly before Curt his post I read your post about renaming the default folder name (which to me sounds bad). Hence my reference to a solution of an older problem that was solved by creating a new folder with the 5.1 addition and copy the scripts in there
However I still don't understand why you are not able to have a normal setup after clean install.
Without having experience with Lion I really would try the Recovery Disk for resetting your user account. With Pre Lion you could do an Archive and Install and it seems Lion also has such an option.

Object tables/associative arrays are using lots of memory what is alternate

I'm using mostly object tables/associative arrays in my package and it is using lots of server memorey so i want to use a different technicque to save momorey .
like using create global temporary table or nested Table Store as or creating table run time at the start and droping it in the end .
do have any suggestion for this ?
for this package i'm retriving data from different table into object tables and do calculation in memorey before i send data to front end for reporting using reference cursor .
give me your suggetion or if you know any example code for this type of process using different technique please let us know .

Bridge CS5 using CS4 files cache problem

If I use Bridge CS4 on a directory and subsequently open the same directory with Bridge CS5, Bridge insistes on rebuilding thumbnails and previews (as indicated on the bottom status line). If I subsequently reopen the directory in Bridge CS4, it again rebuilds thumbs and previews - however only thumbs seem to be rebuilt. The Preferences in both versions of Bridge are "identical". The bridge cache files are maintained in the image directories.
The cache construction seems to be quite fast (faster than anticipated) - I am not sure what, if anything, is being rebuilt.
Is this an expected operation?
This presents some difficulties in that I have 530,000 images (7 terabytes) on Bridge CS4 and the reconstruction of the files would literally take weeks to rebuild.

as there supposed to be seperate programs and independant of one another this is surprising 'not'
I have been onto adobe thru there support link regarding bridge issues and they
advise to uninstall bridge cs4 using there ceanscript.
well its a fiddly tool and no mention of just removing bridge cS4 it wants to remove cS4EXT too,
which i'm not readt to remove, plugins etc......
anyway, cant help, but there was a bridge CS5 patch released yesterday.
i have noticed that some of issues no longer seem to occur
so it may be wise to download it as it didnt auto download.
also i have seen the same issue you state so your not alone.
not sure whether the patch addresses the issue as ive only had it updated a few hours

IDSM-2 using lots of memory

I have question obout IDSM-2 which is using 98% of the memory.
Output from sh ver:
Using 1944629248 out of 1979682816 bytes of available memory (98% usage)
Using 4.3G out of 17G bytes of available disk space (27% usage)
It is normal that it is using 98% of memory durning normal operation or it is a problem ??
If it is not normal please tell me how i can trobuleshoot what is wrong with it.

This message is misleading because it includes the memory allocated to system processes as well as memory allocated to the cache. Because cache
memory is really "free" memory; it is available for allocation at any time.
This is actually a cosmetic bug that you're running into.
If you want to check during periods of what you believe to be high memory usage, you can login as the service user
(if you have not created a service user you can do so via:
1. Log in to using the "cisco" account, the prompt will look like:
sensor#
2. Enter configure terminal mode:
sensor# configure terminal
3. Create the service account:
sensor(config)# username service privilege service password xxx
Then login to the sensor as the service user, and run the 'free' command. What 'sh ver' reports is the 'used' column.
The "Mem:" row, "used" column is the amount of memory (in kilobytes) that the "show version" command reports. However, this total includes the "cached" amount.
The formula for calculating the actual memory being used is:
((used - cached) / total) * 100 = percent of actual memory used.

Having same issues. had been syncing every few days with outlook 2007 contacts and calendar but since updated to 4.0.2 and latest itunes I get an error that it is unable to sync. I can't seem to find any solution.
