Bridge cs6 doesn't recognize my cs5.5 .indd files?

I just upgraded from CS 5.5 to CS 6. When I go into Bridge and double click an old CS5.5 .indd file it tries to open in MS Word. (I find this very strange) If I right click the file and click "open with" the only option it gives me is MS Word. I don't even get that "try another program" button. When i go into InDesign and click file/open the file opens fine. The problem is that Bridge is much faster and I really want to use it. I checked with a coworker that upgraded the same time I did and she is having the same issue only she saves her files to her desktop and can no longer double click to open. Also when she does an "open with" she has multple options but none of them are InDesign. So with that said, I don't think this is a Bridge issue but I wasn't sure where else to post it. Thanks for any help you can give.

Maybe also try the InDesign forum for this.
When you look in to Bridge preferences you have the section 'File Type Associations' and inhere you can select the default application to open the files in. Inhere should be a list of all installed versions of ID visible and you can select one as the default.
Bridge is version specific and it might expect ID CS6 for bridge CS6 but usually it auto selects the correct version upon install. Can you check if the ID version you need is still in the File Type Associations?
And since your colleague has the same problem, are you working on a server environment?

Hello! It would be nice to have a migration script in Bridge too...
In the past, there were folders you could copy, but given the database changes, I'm not sure, I need to check first with the team.
On a Mac, it is in the collections folders in ~Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe/Bridge CS5/Collections/
    PC(XP): C:Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS5\collections
    VIsta/7: user/app data/roaming/Adobe/Bridge CS5/Collections
    Hope this helps

When upgrading no files are copied from the previous version.  So you will have to find them and copy them over.  Locations are in post above.

  • Help! Bridge CS4 doesn't recognize 7D RAW files!

I just got a new computer, it has Vista on it. I installed my Adobe Photoshop and Bridge (CS4) on the desktop, and it won't read the images from my 7D. I downloaded the ACR and DNG converter 5.6, installed it, restarted my computer, and Bridge still doesn't recognize the RAW files. What else can I do? I need to access them ASAP! Thanks

Look for and download the Adobe DNG Converter version 8.6.  No need to be running such an old obsolete version as you reference.
The Adobe DNG Converter is a stand-alone application that is in no way tied to your version of Photoshop.  You not only download it and install it, but you also have to launch it separately and run it on each folder containing raw files from your Canon camera.  Note that it will not recognize individual files, only the folder that contains them.
However, you shouldn't need the DNG Converter it if you update your ACR Plug-in to the latest version, ACR 5.7.
The Adobe auto updater was and remains utterly unreliable—I'd even say useless—in CS4.  You must locate the ACR update at the Adobe site yourself and apply it manually.
This is the URL for the Mac update, I don't do windows, so you'll have to search for the Win version yourself:

  • After Effects CS6 doesn't recognize my Nvidia Quadro K5000 + Tesla c2075 (Maximus) setup

Hello everybody, could you help me to address this problem? After Effects CS6 doesn't recognize my Nvidia Quadro K5000 + Tesla c2075 (Maximus) setup. What should I do?
    Best,
    Oscar.

That is not a configuration that After Effects CS6 will use for the GPU acceleration of the ray-traced 3D renderer.
See the After Effects CS6 system requirements:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-effects.html#After Effects CS6 system requirements
The Quadro K5000 was added to the whitelist for the GPU acceleration of the ray-traced 3D renderer in After Effects CC (12.0).

  • Photoshop CS6 doesn't recognize my Fuji XT-1 HD Movie File

    Hi all,
Can anyone give me a hand with this? I keep getting an error message telling me that PSCS6 doesn't recognize this  FFDB.DAT file. I'm super confused because I thought all movies were supposed to show up as .mov. Can anyone help? I'd like to get this figured out asap.
    Thanks so much,
    Stacey

Update: I formatted my SD card and now I see my .mov file and can navigate to it fine. NOW, the issue is that Photoshop just tells me the file can't be opened but I can view it in QuickTime just fine. Does this narrow it down and can someone give me a fix for this? This is a trial version of PSCS6 I'm using.

    Okay, I figured it out...duh.
    My bad...or rather, Nvidia's bad!
In their app profiler, they set Photoshop to use the "default" settings, which defaults to the integrated graphics.  By changing the profile to make it use the discreet graphics, it worked!
This also fixed my issue of the background flashing / flickering.
    I know that's a known bug with Windows 8 + AMD (http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/image-background-transparent-or-flickers.html)
However, Adobe should look into this same bug occuring with the Intel HD4000 integrated GPU, because this happened with my laptop.
Maybe that bug doesn't occur on systems that only have an integrated GPU, but on systems with Optimus, it's definitely a reproducible issue.
When I switch back to integrated, the issue pops up again.
It's nice that Nvidia provides an option for us to either use the integrated or discreet graphics, however, Adobe needs to follow through and make sure that Photoshop doesn't wig out when we're using the integrated GPU.  Sometimes, your customers need to do work on battery power, so the integrated flickering /flashing /transparent background bug definitely needs to be fixed.
Personally, I can get 6hrs out of this laptop running the integrated GPU, but when I use the discreet, that cuts it down to only 2hrs.

  • Photoshop CS6 doesn't recognize my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M GPU?

I just bought a brand new Alienware M17x R4 with Windows 8 Pro x64 and Photoshop CS6 won't recognize my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M GPU?
I've already updated Windows 8, Photoshop and the Nvidia graphics driver.
Any ideas?  I spent so much on a nice graphics card but now it seems PS CS6 can't even use it.  It's using the Intel HD4000 instead:
    I also tried this:  http://forums.adobe.com/message/4545768#4545768
And deleted the settings but that didn't help.
According to this, my graphics card should work, it's a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M, which is a 600 series GPU:  http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq.html#tested_cards
Tested video cards for Photoshop CS6
Adobe tested the following video cards before the release of Photoshop CS6. This document lists the video card by series. The minimum amount of RAM supported on video cards for Photoshop CS6 is 256 MB. Photoshop 13.1 cannot display 3D features if you have less than 512 MB VRAM on your video card.
Important: This document is updated as newly released cards are tested. However, Adobe cannot test all cards in a timely manner. If a video card is not listed here, but was released after May 2012, you can assume that the card will work with Photoshop CS6.
Adobe tested laptop and desktop versions of the following cards. Be sure to download the latest driver for your specific model. (Laptop and desktop versions have slightly different names.)
    nVidia GeForce 8000, 9000, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 series
I've run out of ideas.  Any suggestions?

  • Bridge CS6 does not recognize videos but CS4 does

    Hi forum,
My copy of Bridge CS6 suddenly stopped showing a preview image for video files and does not play them either.  Lightroom 4.4 and Lightroom 5 also do not recognize video files (.mov's, .avi's, m-pegs...).  My Lightroom used to have no problem playing them.
Bridge CS4 sees them and plays them as normal.
I purged my video cache in Lightroom, uninstalled and reinstalled it, updated Quicktime and am running OSX 10.8.5.

  • Web gallery upload problem - the server switched to FTPS and now Bridge CS6 won't recognize it.

I use Bridge CS6 on a Mac to create & upload web galleries directly to my website. My web server just changed and they no longer support FTP, only FTPS. When I try to upload a web gallery now, Bridge gives me the message that my username/password is incorrect. I have tested the server and can connect via Fetch so I know that it's possible to connect to the server. Is there anywhere in Bridge that allows you to change the FTP settings to allow it to recognize the FTPS? I cannot seem to find any information, I feel like there should be a simple fix and I'm probably overlooking it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I Have a Master collection license. Is there a possibility to install Bridge separately ? There is no option to install it separately during the install process :-/
Bridge is not a seperate program.  It is part of Photoshop.  That is why some users have to  launch Bridge the first time from PS to make it work.
Not familliar with the Suite, but if there are other applications where you can launch Bridge from the program try it.
Also, make sure you have uninstalled any Adobe trials that may cause a conflict with permissions.

  • Cs6 doesn't recognize NVidia Card for graphics processing?

On starting up Cs6 for the first time, the program said that it doesn't recognize the NVidia GeForce 7300 GT. Is this right? Is this going to be true for the release?

That's a bummer. I had the same problem but can't remember the exact steps I took to fix it. At first it would not recognize my graphics cards because they were different (NVIDEA, RADEON), and would ONLY recognize the NVIDEA 7300. Then I updated all the drivers and swapped the order of my cards around, and changed the slot settings with the Expansion Slot utility (if you are on an older MacPro). After some tweaking they all loaded and are working well but don't have all the extra features that a new graphics card would have.

  • IPhoto doesn't recognize Photoshop CS5.1

How do I get iPhoto (version 9.4.2 running under Mountain Lion on 24" iMac), to recognize Photoshop CS5.1 as a choice for editing photos in iPhoto preferences?  After upgrading my Mac to Mountain Lion and upgrading to the latest iPhoto (from Snow Leopard), It is still showing only iPhoto and Photoshop CS4 as the only options for editing.  Most of the time I prefer to use iPhotos tools, but occasionally there is a task that Photoshop is better suited for and I would prefer to use the latest version which I recently installed.  (Photoshop CS4 is still in my Applications Folder, but so is CS5.1)

  • InDesign CS6 Doesn't Recognize Plugins

For some reason InDesign needs to be continuously uninstalled and reinstalled on my Mac running 10.8. It will work for a day or two and then stop opening. When I try to launch it either just crashes or gives me an error that it doesn't recognize a long list of plugins. UI.InDesignPlugin to name one. Then says it needs to be reinstalled.
Is anyone else experiencing this? It's getting really frustrating because I've uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign more times than I can count.

I had a similar issue with acrobat, thats why I ask. Adobe had me go through and deactivate the licensing for creative cloud within Photoshop (if my memory serves correctly).  Then they had me reactivate the licensing. I can't remember the exact steps, but my suggestion is to go to adobe tech support (you can use their chat even), and have them walk you through reactivation of creative cloud. My guess is that your indesign never fully activated properly. What's led me to believe that is the thread concerning your library dispatch manager.
    Thread 1:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.libdispatch-manager
    0   libsystem_kernel.dylib              0x95e839ae kevent + 10
    1   libdispatch.dylib                   0x9191ccc5 _dispatch_mgr_invoke + 993
    2   libdispatch.dylib                   0x9191c7fd _dispatch_mgr_thread + 53
Call Adobe, tell them your indesign is crashing upon launching and they will walk you through the steps of deactivating and reactivating the licensing. Let us know how that goes and if that is indeed the issue. I know that was my issue when I had the same problem with Acrobat.
When your indesign crashes, does the red adobe dispatch manager pop up before it crashes? If so, then it is definitely the same issue I was having.

  • Bridge CS6 not generating correct thumbnails for RAW files

I'm running Bridge CS6 (the latest version, 5.0.2.4) on a 2013 MacBook Pro (OSX 10.9.1) and suddenly as of today Bridge is no longer updating the thumbnails for my RAW files. All other image and video file formats are having thumbnails generated but not my Nikon NEF raw files including those which I have previously worked on in ACR. I have tried purging the entire cache, restarting Bridge and even rebooting my computer and still the raw thumbnails are not being generated.
Any advice would be appreciated thank you.
    Eric
Actually I've just noticed that thumbnails for jpegs are not being generated either. A thumbnail is only generated if I work on a file in Photoshop and then save it.

Check you cache disk free space.  You should have at least 15%.  For a 700g drive that that 100g free.
Have you reset preferences?  Hold down option key and start bridge.  You will get a reset window.

  • Is there a solution to Adobe Bridge CS6 not being able to read raw files from the 5D Mk lll

I like to use Bridge as my overall file organizer.  I operate on a Mac version OSX version 10.8.3 and cannot read my raw files in bridge cs6.  Does anyone have a solution for this.
Also is Canon putting any pressure on Adobe to fix this?

Not bridge but camera raw. You'll need to update your camera RAW.
You can either do it directly in Photoshop, or you can download it here: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2011/03/keeping-photoshop-up-to-date.html
At the bottom, there is a link to download Camera Raw 7.4 for Mac and WIndows. Adobe hides there link from their main site to force people to update via Photoshop update feature.
