Bridge CS6 GIF animation view crashes
Since I don't see another Adobe Labs forum for Bridge CS6, I'm posting here. I was pleased to finally see an animated GIF preview in Bridge CS6. I'm unhappy to report that attempting to view an animated GIF crashes Bridge CS6. I've allowed the app to send a crash report.
I'm using Bridge CS6 x64 on a Windows 7 x64 workstation.
I look forward to seeing the GIF viewer work in the shipping version!
Hello BJN3, I've tried with the animated GIF you attached, Bridge crashed when playing it. I have logged a bug for this issue, our developer will look into it and try to find the cause.
It's wierd that Bridge can play all my animated GIF except yours. Is there any special settins when you created your GIF?
Could you save the GIF below and try to play it in Bridge to see if your Bridge still crashes?
Thanks a lot for you info and support!

In Bridge CS6 when I view a jpg thumbnail color loss
In Bridge CS6 when I view jpgs as a thumbnail and also when selected to single viewing, the colors wash out. They do not in raw or psd versions of the same photo. They look fine in windows picture viewer and I saved them to my website and they were fine, bridge is the only place they look washed out. How do I fix that?
That means that those JPEGs are untagged, meaning they do not have an embedded color profile. In the case of untagged files, Bridge assumes the image was created in the sRGB color space. Obviously, your files must have been created in a different color space but Bridge can't tell which color space that was because you stripped the profile when saving the JPEGs.

Bridge opens OK ... but when you select a file or image ... it starts 'Building Criteria" and then CRASHES.
Quit Bridge and find your user library (by default hidden per OSX 10.7, for quick reveal use menu Go and press option, this brings the user library in view)
follow this path: user(your username) / library / preferences and inhere find and delete the file called "com.adobe.bridge5.plist". Then in same library go to the folder Caches / Adobe / Bridge CS6 and inhere delete both the plugin and the folder called cache.
All files will refresh itself with new and empty ones as per first install. Now again hold down option while restart Bridge and again choose reset preferences.
This provides you wit a new Bridge that needs to recache the files again so this will takes a bit of time and also your custom wishes for the preferences should be set again.
Also consider using the Apple Disk utility or a maintenance application like Cocktail and choose check and repair permissions.
Then consider the upgrade to the last week released 10.8.3 using the combo update that you can find under support on the apple website instead of using the app store to upgrade to 10.8.3. -
Bridge CS6 crashes when accessing a folder containing a GIF file
Each time I try to access a folder in Bridge CS6 containing a GIF file, Bridge crashes.
Moving the file out of the folder (with Finder) stops the crash happening. I've tried with several different GIF files, diffrent ages, with and without animation. ANY GIF file causes the crash in ANY folder. Very frustrating as I can't use Bridge to use any folder with a GIF inside.
I'm using Bridge CS6 5.0.1.21 (Creative Cloud) on a Mac with OSX 10.8.2.
Saw another post suggesting using 32bit version instead of 64bit, but that's a Windows thing.
Anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks. Here's something else: I made a copy of a GIF file and changed its file extension to .jpg and then tried to view it's enclosing folder. No crash! I then made a copy of a jpeg and changed it's extension to GIF. No crash!
That is a weird route to go...
However tried it and had no problem other then not getting a preview for the jpeg and after again change to .gif the need of purging caching for the thumb.
If you want a workaround, try 'A Better Finder Rename', a cheap application that let's you change whatever you want for files or folders name, replacing etc.
You could set up a droplet for changing the extension to .jpg, drop the folder with all files on it and then again create a droplet to get the .gif back and drop it again. the set up takes 5 minutes, the result is taking only a few seconds.
You can change the extension in Bridge with Batch Rename but obviously that would not help you because you first have to select the files... -
Bridge CS6 crashing when there is a GIF file in the folder.
Out of the box, Adobe Bridge has been crashing "randomly" when opening folders.
To pinpoint the cause of the crash, I created a new folder and dragged the files one by one from one of the other folders that crashed Bridge.
It all works fin until I drag a GIF file, then it just stops responding and crashes immediately.
I have tried with several different GIF files, and they all seem to crash Bridge.
Any ideas of any settings to stop this from happening?
I, of course, need to work with gifs, so filtering those out is not a solution.
Thanks!THanks for your answer,
It seems to be any gif causing the crash, at least I haven't found one that doesn't crash it so far, here's an example:
It doesn't have to be animated either. Still gifs crash it too.
I'm using Windows 7 Enterprise, Service Pack 1, 64-bit OS, 24Gb RAM, Intel Core i7 CPU, I have a GeForce GTX 590 video card. I have a similar setup at my home office, and bridge seems to work just fine there (with the same files even).
I searched around here and I found issues popping up with Bridge and GIFs, but nothing answered or exactly like my problem. Weird.
Is there a way for Bridge to not try to render GIFs, but still show them so I can change metadata, open them in PS, etc? -
Bridge CS6 crashes on startup after upgrade from CS5
Yesterday I upgraded to Photoshop CS6 using an install disk mailed from Adobe. Photoshop CS6 itself appears to be working fine, but both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Bridge CS6 crash on startup with the standard Windows popup ("Adobe Bridge CS6 has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution..."). Bridge CS5 still works great, as it did before the CS6 installation.
The Windows Event Viewer shows the following message for the crash of the 64-bit version:

I've rebooted multiple times and tried reinstalling from the upgrade disk, but the problem persists.
The installation is on a machine dedicated to Photoshop whose system info is included below. I'm running a multi-disk setup with 1 SSD as my C drive, another SSD for Temp and Scratch (in different partitions on the same SSD), and a RAID 5 array of hard drives for the actual image files. To my knowledge I'm running with the latest drivers of everything.
I'm not sure how to move forward at this point. Any information or assistance would be most appreciated.
David

That really wouldn't make sense now would it? That library is critical to many windows function and if it were virus infected, I would have more things to worry about that trying to get Bridge to launch.
I already did my homework on that before I posted here and tried some of the things suggested on verifying the integrity of my system files. The Digital Signature Information shows to be okay.
It could be that I upgraded this system from Windows XP Professional to Windows Vista Business and that I have an old (CS2) install that I did not remove from the computer. I have done a variety of things to try and get to the root, but to no avail. I am sure that if I were willing to start completely from scratch and do a clean install of the OS, I may be able to get it to work. I don't really have time to do that however, and since I am not the only person who has had the issue with Bridge failing to start, I suspect the solution lies somewhere within the architecture of Bridge in CS6 that is at the root of my problem.
I am hoping that someone from Adobe will finally figure it out and provide an update that works. -
Adobe Bridge CS6 crashing before starting 5.0.2.4
Hi there,
Adobe bridge is crashing for me before even starting.
I'm running as an Administrator on Windows 7x64 and using the latest version of Bridge, 5.0.2.4
It came with Adobe inDesign 8.0.2 which works perfectly, the only problematic app on the workstation is Bridge.
I do have a version of Adobe Photoshop CS2 also installed. I understand this was an issue that was supposedly patched by Adobe a year ago reading up on the forums but this problem still obviously exists.
Even uninstalling all CS2 products and running CCleaner to wipe out all registry references to CS2 does not fix Bridge CS6.
Adobe, please advice on what to do nextSystem Info:

Does Bridge CC have more text animation presets then Bridge CS6?
so I upgrade from CS6 to CC and did not install Bridge CC. Then while in After Effects CC I try to view the text animation presets, but window informs me I do not have Bridge CC installed. I then download and install Bridge CC and view the animation presets, but seem all the same as Bridge CS6 has.
My question is - Does Bridge CC have more text animation presets then Bridge CS6.
Is there another procedure to acquire more? Did I click past something on my first launch of Bridge CC?My question is - Does Bridge CC have more text animation presets then Bridge CS6.
Best try this in the After Effect forum, to my knowledge not many AE users are here at a regular base. Besides that, every suite version has its dedicated applications to work together in that suite, CC is no exception to that so for best practice use Bridge CC. -
Bridge CS6 64-bit AND 32-bit crash!
I am not sure why this is but Bridge CS6 crashes in either 64-bit version or 32-bit version. I do not have the same problem with Bridge CS5.5 which I believe is 32-bit.
I can't fathom that a 64-bit app with as much memory (more than 8GB) on my machine and a pretty decent NVidia Quaddro card would cause such issues. I had installed the latest video drivers not that long ago (within the past 2-6 months) when I was experiencing a separate issue on a non-adobe software crash on startup. Changing or upgrading the video driver caused the software to become responsive again and this was with a 3D software application.
If 64-bit apps are supposed to see the maximum RAM why would my 32-bit CS5.5 not crash in the following scenario? :
A top-level or sub-top level directory which is displaying results from subfolders and when I navigate to a thumbnail CS6 crashes but CS5.5 does not.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I think I have at least 1GB VramCurt,
I didn't know exactly which portion of the Event Viewer app to look into so I checked this Windows Vista document which should be the same for Windows 7 which I'm on:
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/identify-software-conflicts-system-log.html
I couldn't find an actual Adobe log since no error window came up when it crashed/crashes.
I tried running as administrator as the other person suggested but could not seem to solve the issue.
I still haven't updated my video driver to whatever might have come out last night but I will double check to see if I am running the latest one.
Thanks so far for your responses guys. -
Bridge CS6 (64bit) crashes if started as "normal" User (Windows 7 SP1 64bit)
When starting Bridge CS6 (64bit) from the start menu or the Mini Bridge panel in Photoshop CS6 the application crashes.
If Bridge CS6 is started as "Administrator" it works as it should
The 32bit is not tested as it is not installed.Hi Chenglong,
- I started Bridge several times (also before I created the Crashdump) as administrator. In that case Bridge is starting and works as it is supposed to do
- It is the same here. My system drive is also a tiny SSD and I moved all user profile using NTFS-Junctions to different drives. Also my Camera RAW cache points to a different location (RAID 0 for performance reasons)
- Bridge was installed as user that has granted administrator rights and I accepted the UAC window, that popped up for the installation.
- PS was not reinstalled until now. Should I try to reinstall PS as a solution?
- It also happens if I disable the MMXCore pug-in
- Here is my Systeminfo as requested.

Viewing Slideshow in Bridge CS6 causes Black Screen
Not a question, just an observation that I don't know where else to report this.
I was using Bridge CS6 to view a folder of 200+ photos in Slideshow mode (Ctrl + L).
I was simply using the left and right arrow, occassionally the Spacebar, and marking about 25% of them as rejects by using the keyboard shortcut Alt + Delete.
Suddenly the entire monitor went black. No text message (not the Black Screen of Death), just black. I tried several standard Windows keyboard shortcuts to try to get a different view (Windows + Tab, Ctrl + Alt + Delete, etc.), but nothing worked. I could tell that the monitor was still functioning correctly by simply bringing up its on-screen menues. The only thing that I could do was to turn off the power to the computer. After rebooting, Windows, Photoshop, and Bridge all seemed to operate correctly (but I haven't yet gone back to Slideshow view).
I haven't had a program or Windows crash for months now, but I just installed Photoshop CS6 (not the extended version) late last week.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
nVidia GTX-460 video card with newest drivers installed (296.10)I can't help with the black screen, but that sounds like a slightly risky way of cleaning out the rejects. I prefer to give non keepers a single star (Ctrl 1) and bring them up with the filters, so I can look through them one last time.
Just a thought, but there is a tenuous link with slide shows and projectors. I wonder if it went into external monitor only mode. (Windows key p) I have just tried it here, and was unable to make anything appear on my main screen. You'd be working blind, but a possible solution (if it happened again) would be to go Windows key p > right cursor key (once) > Enter. That would put you back into main monitor only mode. -
Adobe Bridge CS6 Crashes.
I am having a problem with Adobe Bridge in CS6. After running it for a while it mysteriously crashes. Here is a dump of the error report. I never had this in CS5. I am running Windows 7 64bit. This can occur whether or not I am running any other applications at the same time.
How can I fix this? Can I remove and re-install just Bridge?

Is there any possible way for Preview or have Mac OS users to play .gif animation files as default? I have tons of friends who are not computer competent and many will not be able to view .gif animations.
I know the alternative is to open the file through Safari (or any web browsers) or Quicktime. Would there be a possibility that Preview is upgraded to view .gif animations in Lion update?
This has been an issue since Tiger.

Bridge CS6 keeps on crashing on opening. It says "Building criteria" then shows me the rainbow disk, forever and ever until I have to force quit.
I have deleted the cache folder in the User/library/adobe/Bridge/Caches and also the files ending in .plist in Preferences. I have opened it again while holding the option key, and reset all of the settings, several times, but nothing changes. I have lost my original dmg file and so I cant reinstall. I'm on Maverick and it has worked fine for 10 months before this started happening. I don't use it for anything other than looking through my files/photos and loading several into one document in photoshop.
What else can I do? THanks! My OS is in finnish, but I think this is what I'm looking for:
