Bridge CS6 occasionally displaying wrong 'Date Created' for .NEF's

I noticed this problem only recently, and this the third time it happens (that I know of).
Sometimes my Bridge puts a wrong Date Created (not Date File Created or Date File Modified) on a NEF RAW file, whilst the next one (taken perhaps just a few seconds or a minute later) has the proper date. Strangely the Date File Created & Modified do show the proper creation date.
Example to clarify:

As you can see, it's not a 'stable' deviation.
I could live with it, apart from one problem: the batch rename function only has 'Date Created' as option for renaming with date.
It's also quite annoying for my photography study, since my teachers might get confused by the wrong date in the Metadata when I turn my photo in.
I tried compacting the cache whilst my camera's SD card wasn't connected (so the files aren't 'available' anymore), no difference.
Another thing I tried was to hook my SD card up on a different computer, same result.
So it might be my SD card, but that doesn't explain why the correct date is shown on my D90 itself, though.
If anybody here has an idea how to fix / avoid this problem, help is much appreciated.
Greetings,
Alex

I have never inserted the 8GB card in the D3000 before just a minute ago.
And I just took 7 rapid photo's of my previous post (~1s interval)
All 7 displayed actual date in my camera, the first 4 displayed a wrong date in bridge (24/09/2013, times; 2:12:16PM, 2:12:20PM, 3:09:24PM and 3:10:26PM). Last 3 displayed proper time in bridge.
So yea, I'm pretty sure something is wrong. I'll try formatting the SD card (as suggested before) but however you look at it, this doesn't add up.
edit:
Well I figured out one thing: if I view the photo's directly on my SD card through bridge, it shows the same date for Date Created, Date File Created and Date File Modified.
Quite logical, to be honest, since I am viewing the date the file was created on the camera.
However, if I export photo's with Adobe Photo Downloader (or whatever it's called again), it displays the date those copies were created (by Date File Created). Date File Modified is still ~the same as Date Created since it hasn't been modified since the original creation.
edit2:
The formatting seems to have solved the issue, for now anyway. Still have no clue why the SD card got such (occasional) cases of drunkness.

You only can do so after the import process using a third party app called A better finder Rename,  originally designed for Mac but they seem to have a Windows version also:

how do i find the date created for my playlists? i have too many and want to only keep the recents.

Sorry but just trying to understand.
Not sure why the Date Created on a Sequence makes a difference to what is sent...which I assume would be an Export.
ie how does the Sequene relate to "the finished versions for broadcast"?
My finished versions for broadcast (TVCs)  have a Key number *& title on the file name and if I look in Explorer..the date created is in the appropriate column.
If I wanted the sequence to have that  "created date" info..I would put it in the Sequence Name alongside the Key number etc.

  • OS X lion changes "Date Created" for old files that I edit or update.

Whenever i edit my old photos and save the changes, Finder changes the "Date Created" for that file to the date of the last edit.
This is annoying as i used finder and date created to search through my old images. Is there any way to get it back to functioning like the previous system ?

Try always to Purge the Cache through the Tools Menu in Bridge.  The global Purge Cache has been broken for years, at least through Bridge CS4.  Don't have CS5.

  • Bridge CS6 not displaying complete metadata

I have CS5 and am playing around with CS6.  So far so good, impressed overall.
I like to have Bridge set up to display the Metadata for each image, and when I view the metadata, it is not as complete as what I see in the CS5 version of Bridge.
Specifically, I like to be able to see the Subject Distance, which is recorded for the camera/lens combination I'm using.  In Bridge CS5, the Subject Distance displays just fine, but it is completely absent in CS6.  I have confirmed this to be the case with my Canon 1D Mark IV, and my wife's Canon 7D.
Also, I like to see the ISO as well.  In Bridge CS5, it shows nicely as "ISO Speed Ratings" while in Bridge CS6, it shows as "(ISO) Photographic Sensitivity" - kind of excessive.  If I only check the "ISO Speed" - nothing shows up.
To verify this, I made sure *all* metadata options in the Preferences menu were selected to display, but despite this, the Subject Distance is not being displayed (and the ISO labeling is a bit wordy for my taste).
Also, I posted this in the PS General Forum, and received a reply from one user that for some of his old NEF files, Bridge in CS5 and CS6 displayed the subject distance properly, while for some newer NEF files, it showed in CS5, but not CS6.
I assume this is a bug, where Bridge is having trouble reading the metadata fields for different raw files, but I welcome any advice on how to get it to display Subject Distance, which is contained in the metadata.  And hopefully pointing out this bug will lead to its getting fixed sometime down the road.
    Thanks.

    Curt,
I posted here, since it's a Bridge Function, not really Camera Raw.  Bridge is where the metadata is being displayed, where the Preferences identify the particular metadata fields, etc.
And while I understand the need to do my share of sleuthing in tracking down a problem, to better define it, I think the cause here will be sporadic, rather than systemic.  As you saw with your own files, some old NEF files displayed fine, newer ones didn't.
Some cameras store Subject Distance in the MakerNote fields, others don't.  Some lenses provide the data for Subject Distance in cameras that do record this information, while others don't.  So there is a myriad of factors involved here, and any additional sleuthing would just identify particular instances where Adobe's routines aren't correctly identifying and reading the MakerNote data.
I've identified 2 current cameras, which clearly demonstrate the problem.  Adobe can examine their routines for these cameras and fix them.  And if/when others come forward having discovered their cameras also show this problem, those can be corrected as well.
As I said, I think this is more likely to represent particular quirks in their routines as they're implemented for specific camera models, rather than a systemic, universal problem.
I spent a few hours looking for another program that will find that information, and was amazed to see how difficult it is.  Even Canon's own Digital Photo Professional does not provide Subject Distance, which shocked me.  I tried PIE, Opanda, iEXIF, Irfan, Faststone, and a few others - none of them correctly found/displayed Subject Distance.
The only one I found was ExifTool, using the mod with the GUI.  This displays it in the "MakerNotes" fields, and interestingly shows 2 data points: FocusDistanceUpper and FocusDistanceLower, both in meters.  The single datum displayed by CS5 Bridge is inbetween these 2 values - not quite the mean, but close.  And as documented above, CS6 Bridge displays none of these.

  • P2 ingested footage with wrong date created metadata

Hello, we're trying to standarize all of the media for our systems. Part of this includes ingesting P2 footage using Prelude and encoding it as DVCHDPro quicktime files. I know that the recommended method that adobe gives for ingesting P2 footage is to keep the file structure in tact and use the media browser function of Premiere; this, however, doesn't suit our company's needs of maintaining a relativaly NLE-agnostic media library and having quicktime compatiable discrete video clips of all our media. We're using Mac OSX operating systems, by the way.
The problem is that, when using Prelude to ingest, it seems that Prelude obliterates the "date created" metadata and file data (e.g. when selecting the "get info" on the clip itself; that file data). After ingesting a clip, if I open it in Premiere, there is no date-based metadata that matches the original record time on the .mxf file itself. Nor when I view the clip in OSX's "get info" does the "date created" panel reflect the date that the original file was created. It seems that it should be possible to write the original "date created" data to the ingested file (in the ingest panel in Prelude I can see the correct "date created" time); FCPX is able to do this when ingesting P2 media using their systems. Is there an option that I'm missing or is this simply not possible with this version of Prelude?
To illustrate: here's a screencap of the ingest panel in prelude, notice the "date created" column reads 2013-06-28T11:43:05; which is the correct record date of that clip:
However, after I ingest the clip, both within Premiere and the "get info" panel in OSX, the "date created" now refers only to my import time:

Thanks both for your responses. I checked the .mxf file "date created" and it is indeed empty (see picture).
The "date modified time" however, is correct. I do understand that when dragging media directly from the media browser in premiere that the metadata displays correctly; what I think should also happen is that when the footage is ingested and transcoded via Prelude, it should also display correct metadata. As shown in my pictures above, prelude does indeed see the correct "date created" (wherever it gets that information); it just obliterates it after it transcodes the clip; it's not available either in the "get info data" (which, somehow, FCPX does do when importing P2 media through their system) nor (most strangely) in premiere. Any settings or changes that could be made to address this would be appreciated.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 doesn't import 'Date Created' data

I have researched this thoroughly in Adobe and public forums without seeing a similar discussion. I have a folder of .mts clips shot in AVCHD on a Sony HXR-MC2000. I can import or drag-and-drop clips and they come into my seq just fine -- evidently a recent update I installed addressed the problem of no audio importing with the clip, so many thanx, Adobe!  But for the life of me, I cannot get the 'Date Created' info to come over with the clip. I do have that box checked in the PP6 panel, but no such data imports.
Any ideas?  I'm running CS6 6.0.1 on an iMac running Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.1

I don't do it because the metadata really contains nothing useful with the GH2 (for example it doesn't have timecode), so it just massively clutters up my Explorer thumbnail views which I frequently use to manage the files.  That's the issue for me, not storage space.  ie. I like to see all the video thumbnails for a particular shooting date grouped together in the same folder - I don't want to keep having to traverse the annoying AVCHD folder structures to find my files.
On top of that Panny's utility doesn't preserve the entire structure, but rather seems to convert the metadata to its own filetypes.  The only reason I use it is that it automatically creates folders based on the shooting date of each clip (and stills), which is how I like to organise my files.
In the end, MTS is also just a video file, and the filesystem already has Date Created and Date Modified times.  So PPro should use those in cases like this (as it presumably does with any other filetype that doesn't have this metadata).
I'll report it as a bug.

since last night's time change, iCal has displayed the wrong date. in the dock it shows yesterday's date (nov. 3rd) until i open iCal when it switches to today (nov 4th) until I close it again and it goes back to yesterday.

I'm not sure what triggers the behaviour but it tends to reflect the day I opened iCal.

  • ST03 displays statistics data just for two days ago

    Dear All,
    I'm a newbie in sap.
In my SAP SOLMAN server, there's no statistical record when I enter STAD for today.
And, inside ST03, last workload records was two days ago.
I've checked that the SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR scheduled per hour and finished successfully. I've also tried to restart the SAPOSCOL, upgrade to the newest SAPOSCOL, but the problem is still occured.
Several days ago, I deleted the Statistic Records using ST03, hope it would refresh the statistics, but the new statistics only created for a few hours, then it stopped, and continued the next two days with old two days data.
How to make this back to normal ?
