Bridge CS6, preference pane black out

The preferences window in Bridge is mostly blacked out, I have tried un-installing and then re-installing it from my account in the Cloud but it's still the same.
I have tried making the main work area etc as white as possible but it doesn't change the prefs window, it remains mainly black!
Any ideas anyone?window

There was a similar post on photoshop forum where dropdown box was black.  May have a similar solution for Bridge.  Here is response to question.

MacOS - did you use a utility like Onyx to "clean" or "slim down" your system?
When we've seen this in the past, it's been due to a corrupt OS install, usually from a utility attempting to "clean" the OS install.
Reinstalling the OS solves the problem.
(reinstalling Photoshop won't do anything, nor deleting Photoshop's preferences - which tells us that the problem is not with Photoshop files)
Chris does also not like MacSweeper for same reasons.

  • CS6 Photoshop Update blacking out my workspace!!!

Someone help me--I am VERY busy as this is wedding season--I have THOUSANDS OF IMAGES and now Photoshop is blacking out whenever I make a selection. The navigation screen still shows the image but the workspace goes blank till I click on it--which undo's the selection!!! Everthing was fine till this morning when I was told there was an update--I want to back in time : (
HELP!!! I am too busy for this!!
    Thank very, very much!!

    Good day!
Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

I know that factoring in »unforeseeable problems« is close to an oxymoron but working under a schedule that will not allow for any »unforeseeable problems« seems very optimistic.

  • System Preferences Panes greyed out unless run with sudo

Just installed Java 7 U51 on Mountain Lion 10.8.5
This pane is greyed out & not executable
If I try to run directly:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/lib/deploy/JavaControlPanel.pref Pane
I get an error (most idiotic in fact):
You can't open "Java" preferences pane because it is not available to you at this time
The "solution" is to open System Preferences as root with
      sudo /Applications/System\ Preferences.app/Contents/MacOS/System\ Preferences
But surely that is not what one should need to do to configure preferences?
    Seb

As it happened there were MCX policies in place & these System Preferences items were not checked (they were most likely added AFTER preferences were made
Ticking them, made it all behave normal

  • How do I manually delete Adobe Bridge CS6 preferences?

So I've come across some problems with Bridge not starting after I downloaded PS CS6, and many people have said to clear the preferences. I've tried doing the whole "hold ctrl & open Bridge" but it doesn't work in my situation, so I was wondering where exactly do I go to manually delete the preferences
Bad question no doubt, but will there even be preferences made if I haven't actually been able to start Bridge once?
    Thanks,

Seem like the links to Adobe fact sheets are broken, so have not been able to find one on manually resetting preferences.
Since you have not set up cache for a different location it should be in C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge[#]\Cache, at least that is what one source says.
If not there look in C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge[#]\Cache.
Be aware AppData is a hidden file so turn that on in Windows Explorer.
In your case I think you either have a bad install or there is some conflict with Bridge and another program on your computer preventing it from opening.  Anti-virus programs are the #1 cause for problems.

  • Premiere CS6 reference monitor blacks out!!

I am using PPCS6 on a windows 7 machine and it has been fine up until today, now the reference monitors on screen and my external monitors just keep going black and I have to save, exit and open it again for clear it but it only lasts a couple of minutes before it does it again.
No plug ins, updates etc were installed since yesterday when it was working fine.
    Any help?

    Welcome to the forum.
The first thing that I would investigate would be my video driver(s).
What is the make and model of your video card?
What is the currently installed version and date, for the video driver?
Is that the latest from nVidia, or AMD/ATI? If not, download, install and test the latest version.
    Good luck,

  • Bridge CS6 Launch Error

Will try this once more: Am on IMAC OS10.7.3 Have Photoshop CS5. All updates are current with both companys. I have down loaded and uninstalled CS6 three times, Have used Apple time machine to restore all settings to a day before initial down load. Have checked file associations with CS6/CS5 and all seems to be ok. Out of OS "Applications" PSCS6 opens no problems. Adobe trial window opens ok. Bridge CS6 will not open, out of OS Application, Out of mini Bridge, Out of anything! Bridge CS5 does open out of OS Applications and weirdly enough works fine with PS CS6. I just have to keep toggling back and forth between CS5 (Bridge) and CS6 (PS). Any help would be appreciated. If I purchase program this I do not want to go through this all over again.

Hello, do you have Bridge set up to run at launch of your session? Bridge CS5>Preferences>Advanced.

  • My Photoshop and Bridge CS6 is getting spastic ( long waits when I back out of a folder, etc. ) Is it still OK to deactivate and reinstall?

My Photoshop and Bridge CS6 is getting spastic ( long waits when I back out of a folder, etc. ) Is it still OK to deactivate and reinstall?

First, have you tried resetting your Preferences? It does fix a lot of problems.
    Photoshop:
If you need a quick and dirty way to restore your preferences, here's a way you can do it using a keyboard shortcut on launch:
Windows - CTRL-SHIFT-ALT immediately after you double-click the PS icon.
Macintosh - CMD-SHIFT-OPTION immediately after you double-click the PS icon.
    Bridge:
Start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) until the Reset Settings dialog box appears. Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK.

  • Viewing Slideshow in Bridge CS6 causes Black Screen

Not a question, just an observation that I don't know where else to report this.
I was using Bridge CS6 to view a folder of 200+ photos in Slideshow mode (Ctrl + L).
I was simply using the left and right arrow, occassionally the Spacebar, and marking about 25% of them as rejects by using the keyboard shortcut Alt + Delete.
Suddenly the entire monitor went black. No text message (not the Black Screen of Death), just black. I tried several standard Windows keyboard shortcuts to try to get a different view (Windows + Tab, Ctrl + Alt + Delete, etc.), but nothing worked. I could tell that the monitor was still functioning correctly by simply bringing up its on-screen menues. The only thing that I could do was to turn off the power to the computer. After rebooting, Windows, Photoshop, and Bridge all seemed to operate correctly (but I haven't yet gone back to Slideshow view).
I haven't had a program or Windows crash for months now, but I just installed Photoshop CS6 (not the extended version) late last week.
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
nVidia GTX-460 video card with newest drivers installed (296.10)

I can't help with the black screen, but that sounds like a slightly risky way of cleaning out the rejects.  I prefer to give non keepers a single star (Ctrl 1) and bring them up with the filters, so I can look through them one last time.
Just a thought, but there is a tenuous link with slide shows and projectors.  I wonder if it went into external monitor only mode.  (Windows key p)   I have just tried it here, and was unable to make anything appear on my main screen.  You'd be working blind, but a possible solution (if it happened again) would be to go Windows key p  > right cursor key (once) > Enter.   That would put you back into main monitor only mode.

  • Camera Raw Preferences in Adobe Bridge CS6

I can click on Camera Raw Preferences from the Adobe CS6 Menu, but nothing happens. No error meesages come up, but nothing happens.
I recently installed ACR7.3. I did have some problems getting ACR7.3 installed. The updater from Photoshop and Bridge didn't seem to install it.  I had to download ACR7 and install it.
After the successful install of ACR7.3,  I can double click on an image in Adobe Bridge CS6 and it will open the raw image in ACR7.3 in Photoshop CS6.
The other annoyance is that the images for my RAW files for my Panasonci GH3 don't display in Adobe Bridge. They appear as a blank icon
    I am running on a Mac OS X 10.6.8 64 bit
    Adobe Bridge CS6 5.0.0.399
    Adobe Camera Raw 7.3.0.71
    Adobe PS C6 13.0.4  x64
I do have older versions of Adobe CS5 and CS4 that I have never removed. I've never had problems before. And didn't need the space so I just left them.
Any ideas of why Adobe Bridge CS6 and ACR7.3 aren't in sync? - Thanks Rod

Ok, everything was ok until I rebooted my machine. Now when I open Adobe Bridge CS6, The Raw images show up initially. But when Adobe Bridge finally gives me control, the images have become blank icons again. I've tried the CommandOptionShift and it does not help.  It was fine for two weeks and now I can't get the raw images to stay.
Here is what I see as Adobe Opens the older. The Raw images are viewable.
Now this is how they look after Adobe Bridge has finished opening and I can click on something:
Where do I go from here?

  • Colour washed out when using image processor in Bridge CS6

    Hi there
I hope somebody can help please?!
I am editing raw files in Camera Raw 8.2, then using image processor through Bridge CS6 to save them as both jpegs and tiffs.
I am finding the colour on the saved files is coming out a little washed out and faded.
If I open them individually and save them in PS6 as jpeg and tiffs, the colour remains vibrant and true to the original raw file.
I have thousands of these files to go through and don't have time to open each one individually in this way so I am desperate to automate this process while still retaining the great colour in the original shots.
Can anyone tell me why the shots are coming out this way and help offer a solution for me please?
Any advice would be massively appreciated!
    Many thanks
    Benny P

When opening Bridge (CS6) I get the following message: "Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation" I tried and after selecting purge cache it does not allow me to select OK. Also Bridge keeps saying "Building Criteria" with the spinning wheel and nothing happens. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Please help:)

Maybe a Preferences reset can help:
Numerous program settings are stored in the Adobe Bridge preferences file, including display, Adobe Photo Downloader, performance, and file-handling options.
Restoring preferences returns settings to their defaults and can often correct unusual application behavior.
Press and hold the Ctrl key (Windows) or the Option key (Mac OS) while starting Adobe Bridge.
In the Reset Settings dialog box, select one or more of the following options:
      Reset Preferences
Returns preferences to their factory defaults. Some labels and ratings may be lost. Adobe Bridge creates a new preferences file when it starts.
    Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache
Purging the thumbnail cache can help if Adobe Bridge is not displaying thumbnails properly. Adobe Bridge re-creates the thumbnail cache when it starts.
    Reset Standard Workspaces
Returns Adobe predefined workspaces to their factory default configurations.
Click OK, or click Cancel to open Adobe Bridge without resetting preferences.

  • Bridge CS6 dialog boxes all have black background

All of the dialog boxes in my Bridge CS6 have black writting on a black backgroud which makes all of them unusable. I have tried uninstalling / reinstalling Photoshop to try and fix this but there is no change. Should I uninstall of my CS6 applications and try the install again?

  • Dialog boxes in PS & Bridge CS6 have black background

All of the dialog boxes in my Bridge & Photoshop CS6 have black writting on a black backgroud which makes all of them unusable. I have recently zeroed my hard drive and reinstalled all software (Adobe via Creative Cloud) and this problem popped up.
    Any Ideas??
There is a similar 2012 forum thread which addressed this problem, stating the solution was found by zeroing the drive, then reinstalling: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1008692
    Here's what it looks like:
Running on MacBook Pro (2011 build)
    OS 10.8.5
    Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel i7
    RAM: 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory (2x 4GB)
Graphics: Intel DH Graphics 3000   512MB
HD: 750 GB SATA (129 GB free)
    Photoshop CS6 (v13.1.2)
    Bridge CS6
(all other CS6 apps working fine)

Apparently this issue is cauused by agressive registry cleaners like MacSweeper that have deleted some files.  Here is the help doc.

  • White Balance Metadata not showing in Adobe Bridge CS6

Hi there, I am running Bridge CS6 on a Mac, and use Canon 5D and 5DMark 111 cameras. I have an issue with Bridge which I can not seem to figure out. Whether I shoot Raw or JPG and I am trying to do some testing for white balance, once I open the images in Bridge, in the little icon panel just below the folders/favourites panel etc I can see the f stop info, speed, metering , ISO etc, but the only icons I get for WB are if use auto - then I see AUTO.  But when I do a manual WB like 'cloudy', 'tungsten', or 'shade' etc all I get are the symbols for 'Custom" or "Manual".  How do I get the actual symbols for what type of WB i've chosen to show up?
I have purged the Cache - both in the individual folder and the overall Cache in preferences.  I have checked that all the boxes are ticked in the preferences panel for the Metadata.  So not sure what else to do.
    Cheers D

Ok thanks for that, at least I wont be chasing my tail.
I did install the DNG converter 8.3 but I still NEF files as a NEF icon. Any clues to what I may not be doing right there?
