Bridge CS6 very slow

Since a few days my bridge is extremely slow and I can not work anymore. Response time when I click on a picture about 5 seconds, clicking on a menu about 10 seconds, selecting 10 images takes 20 seconds, opening a thumb in full scrreen view takes 15 second. My system has plenty of power. Need urgent help. Thanx!

The most obvious question is: what changed a few days ago?
besides this also try to purge the cache of one problem folder (tools / cache / purge cache for folder ) to see if it is a cache problem.
And restart Bridge holding down control key to reset the preferences to factory default also might help often to solve suddenly appearing problems.

  • Bridge is very slow after installing Photoshop CC

I just installed Photoshop CC last night and today Bridge is VERY slow. Every folder I open even if I opened it yesterday has to build some kind of an index.
Also it keeps crashing it never crashed before.

Yes I understand that my point is it only started to do this after I installed Photoshop CC. I have been using bridge CS6 for 3 months and it has never been this slow or crash. IT crashed 5 times today.
Note if you are using the Creeative cloud you may not know this but every 3 months you will have to log in and re accept all the licenses for all the products you open and want to run again, every 3 months. I just learned that today as well.

  • Adobe Bridge CC very slow on New Mac Pro

Im running both Bridge CC (6.1.0.115) and CS6 on my New Mac Pro
the Bridge CC is obviously slower than Bridge CS6.
CC also very easy to get the spinning ball every click on Bridge CC, very annoying.
Also Im using Dell 4K monitor, If I load monitor size preview will be really slow, even on the New Mac Pro. is there any way We can set a specific size of the preview? which can speedup the preview loading

If you go to the menu File > Project Settings > General and set the Renderer to Software Only, any change?

  • Bridge CS6 - extremely slow preview updates and image deleting

    1. Updating previews (100%) is very slow.
Bridge CS6 has problems updating the previews of images that get edited.
While creating preview from scratch is rather swift, updating previews takes about six minutes on a MacBook Pro retina with 16Gb RAM.
After one minute the preview gets updated,  but then the busy signal in the low left corner just keeps turning and turning for five more minutes.
Why is this happening? Is Bridge still busy with those previews? Why? The preview has already been updated, why those extra five minutes of business?
    2. Image deleting is painfully slow.
You type Command + Delete, and nothing is happening for five, six seconds.
Only then the images get deleted.
Has anybody else noticed these two hold-ups?
    Edit:
I just went back after writing and editing this post, and Bridge is still busy with the preview update. This is now 15 minutes after the image had been edited. The busy signal in the lower left corner just never turns off again.
It feels like Bridge has also problems working in the background. As soon as you open e.g. a browser to bridge the waiting for bridge, Bridge seems to keep the busy signal rotating, but not actually doing anything until you close the browser again. Which is why I just had a 15 minute wait for an image preview to finally update. The time spent in the browser did not "count".

    Hi Noel,
Yes, I did the upgrade, and I did not experience any problems.
Only, the issues above were not fixed in the update.
Are you not experiencing the same issues? (I'm on a Mac).
    C. Pfaffenbichler, I was actually looking for a dedicated Bridge forum, but I couldn't see a Bridge icon.

  • Photoshop CS6 - Very Slow Brush Speeds...

    Hi:
I thought CS5 was bad, but brushing with CS6 all brush strokes are very, very slow. If I make a brush stoke I have literally have to put my hand on my chin and wait for the brush to catch up. I cannot work like this. Any suggestions on what to do to speed up the brushes? Forget about adding anything else to Photoshop, please work on speeding up exisiting functions.

  • Mac Dreamweaver CS6 very slow to open files

    Hi
My Mac Dreamweaver CS6 opens html files in about 1-2 minutes! It is very very slow. It all works when the file is open but it is the actual opening that is slow.
I have turned off external files but no change.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks

    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)

I've been strugling with this issue for  a long time.
I've found that Dreamweaver takes  about 2 minutes to open  CSS files with @import url for  font face.
    for example:
    @import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Oswald:400,300);
i've never had problem with  big files but if i place this line into my 20k css file,  it takes for ever to load.
if i  remove it, it opens  fast  as usual.
Please don't tell me  that it could be a  Google problem  thatis loading slow  because it's not.
the font file isnt  big enough either.
Of course i have deativated the "load things from external urls" setting.
any ideas on how could this be  fixed withoput changing my work style ?

  • CS6 Very Slow Startup?

    Hello Folks,
I've just applied the latest update, but am experiencing very slow image loading times between LR 4.1 and CS6 Extended edition.
I am using an iMac 27 2.8Ghz with 8Gig of System Ram, over 300Gig of HDD free space.
Upon selecting edit-in CS6 with an image in LR 4.1, CS6 starts up with a long splash screen, loads, then I get a spinning grey circle, then CS6 loads on the desktop, then I get a colored spinning circle, before my image finally appears.
I have performance set to an external scratch disk witih 624G of free space, 5644 MB of memory usage at 74%, HS at 30 CL at 7 CTS at 1028K
I have CS5 still installed and it's load times are about twice as fast as CS 6
Any help or suggestions on how I might resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Jim

I changed the scratch disk, to my internal which has 300G of free space but also kept my FW800 external 600G of free space as well.
Now things seem to be running faster.
I've tried opening .psd and .dng files, maybe the .dng files load a bit faster.
After I reinstalled i did a complete update againk which included ACR 7.1
I also tried reinstalling CS6 over itself, but not sure if that might have made a difference or not. The reason I did that is that I'm getting a separate error messge when I select PS Support Center.
The error messge states, Adobe Air, this application is damaged, try to re-install the application.

  • AE CS6 very slow with footage

    Hi guys,
I am using AE Effects CS6 (11.0.4.2) on a new Macbook Pro with these specs:
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
    16 GB MHz DDR3
    Intel Iris 1536 MB
The problem I am having is that when imported footage is visible as footage or a layer, AE becomes very slow with every click of the mouse on either the timeline or the footage in the viewer itself causing the color wheel to appear, often for 30 seconds at a time. Strangely, dealing with the composition has no issues.
    Any ideas guys?
    Thanks in advance

Try transcoding the footage to a production codec and see if that makes a difference.
Like, use the Adobe Media Encoder to make them something like QuickTime with the PhotoJPEG codec.
See if that helps with the performance.

  • After reinstalling Photoshop CS6 Bridge is very slow. It takes 15 sec to respond to a mouse click. Photoshop is OK.

I had to reinstall Photoshop CS6 after rebuilding my PC. Now Bridge takes 15 sec to respond to a mouse click. Photoshop is fine. I have installed all updates.
    Any thoughts?

Slow as compared to what?  Have you seen better performance with older versions of Photoshop?
    >after app launched, it takes nearly 5 seconds to be able to browse through menus
Takes my system longer than that to start Photoshop CS5, and while my computer isn't a top-of-the-line workstation today (it was a few years ago), it's no slouch.  Photoshop has never been a fast application to start up.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6 Very Slow On Rendering Type

I have a notebook with specification as mentioned below :
    Lenovo Ideapad Y470P
    2nd generation Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor( 2.2GHz 1333MHz 6MB)
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    AMD Radeon HD 7690 2GB
    8.0GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333 MHz
    750GB 5400
I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit) for doing my job.
Right now, i have a task to create a banner with dimension 800 x 900 Centimeters with Resolution 300 DPI and Color Mode RGB 16 Bit.
The file size when blank is about 56.1 GB.
The problem is, when i add some text with Horizontal Type Tool and click on the Move Tool, the Rendering Type screen show up and take a very very long time to finished.
I have made some configurations to my Photoshop that i found on Adobe Forum, but the problem still persisted.
Some configurations that i've made is :
    - Turn off the Automatically Save Recovery Information
    - Set Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility to Ask
    - Set the Memory Usage to 95%
    - Set the Cache Levels to 8 and Cache Tile Size to 1024K
    - Set the Graphics Advanced Settings to Drawing Mode Advanced, and Check the option Use Graphics Processor To Accelerate Computation, and Uncheck the option Anti-Alias and 30 Bit Display
    - Set the Scratch Disk to another partition ( C:System D:PageFile E:Data F:Scratch Disk)
And after all of that configuration, my Photoshop still slow when Rendering Type.
Could you give me some tips to solve my problem?
    Thanks

300 ppi for a banner that size is categorically not normal.  Guaranteed.
Get specific instructions from the shop that is going to print it.
You keep confusing ppi with dpi.  The resolution of an image file really is expressed in ppi, pixels per inch, not "dpi" which is dots per inch.  The precise terminology is as follows:
DPI = Dots per inch = units used to measure the resolution of a printer
LPI = Lines per inch = The offset printing 'lines' or dots per inch in a halftone or line screen.
PPI = Pixels per inch = the number of pixels per inch in screen/scanner file terms.
Here's a link to a discussion that may interest you:
    http://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/487/what-ppi-should-a-large-format-artwor k-for-print-be-done-at
It includes the following chart and subsequent comments :
"The rule of thumb is that we need 1.5 to 2 times the LPI in PPI to get acceptable results.
    "Viewing Distance   Present Study
20 feet    greater than 10 LPI
18 feet    18.75 LPI or greater
16 feet    18.75 LPI or greater
14 feet    37.5 LPI or greater
12 feet    37.5 LPI or greater
10 feet    50 LPI or greater
8 feet     65 LPI or greater
6 feet     85 LPI or greater
4 feet     100 LPI or greater
2 feet     133 LPI or greater
1 foot     150 LPI or greater
6 inches   150 LPI or greater
"Presumably, for a banner 3m x 5m, you'd be standing at a minimum of, say, 10 feet. (Just eyeballing the wall here.) So, by this table, you'll need 50 LPI minimum. That would mean your raster graphics should be about 100 PPI, or 75 PPI at 12-14 feet. Considering that and the fact that 2x LPI is pretty conservative for reproducing fidelity (often 1.5xLPI is "enough"), this agrees with [the given] advice of 75 PPI being acceptable."
Talk to your printer.  I suspect they will want a file at under 75 ppi, or even much less.  Follow the printer's advice/request.

  • After Effects CS6 - Very slow workflow

Hi everyone, my first writing in adobe forums. I've contacted 3 adobe support agents, but I didn't get much help from them. Recently I switched from PC to Mac Pro, having Adobe Production Premium 5.5 for Windows and now upgraded to Adobe Production Premium 6.
First I tried a trial of After Effects CC and I was surprised how slow it is. Now I'm using AE CS6 full version and it's a bit better, but still pretty dang slow. (The video I made for adobe support explaining the problem is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jsZZpH0vYU )
To try to cut long story short. In the video adove, I've created couple of text layers and couple of shape layers. Made them 3D. Added a camera too. When I move the camera, everything is refreshing extremly slow. It's like you're having 100 3D layers and very busy scene,
and actually it's few most simplest 3D layers. The agents from adobe support told me to switch to half rez, or draft mode etc. But the problem is, I do not want to work in half rey, draft mode or something similar, with my configuration it should work pretty normal. Never
had these kind of problems in AE CS5.5. I tried everything, updated the software, updated my Mac OS, disabled global cache, even disabled multiprocessing etc. Btw, rendering is okay.
Is this the way CS6 is made? Is it supposed to be slow? Because, literally I got an answer from the agent that AECS6 is designed like that, in other words, to be slow
I really have no idea anymore how to make this work. I would like to get back to my lovely 5.5, but I only have license for Windows. If you guys could help me, I would really appriciate that.
    I use:
    * Mac Pro
    * 2 x 2,4 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
    * 64 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    * ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024MB
    * 2TB HDD
    * 2 x Apple LED Cinema Display 27"
    * After Effects CS6 - 11.0.2.11
    * Mac OS X 10.8.4
    * I haven't had this problems ever before (using ae for quite some time)
    * At the moment no 3rd party plugins installed
    Thanks!
    Mirza

You'll have to get used to creating Ram Previews and using AE's interface in the right way. You should really go through the getting started materials on the home page and take a look at the FAQ. AE is a layer based pixel calculating beast that will do a lot more to a movie at 60 frames per second than Photoshop will do on to a still image. After Effects is essentially Photoshop for movies with a lot more options.
If you want to smoothly drag through the timeline and playback multiple cuts with simple transitions and two or three layers then use Premiere Pro. If you need to use 20 layers and 60 effects to create a stunning composite or motion graphics effect then you're stuck with rendering at just about any price point.

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 too slow!

    Hello everyone,
Bridge is a great piece of software. But why is it so incredibly slow!? I have a huge database of graphic files and want to be able to browse them quickly. The cache size is already set to 500.000 items. Is there any other way to speed up Bridge?
    Thanks!

Bridge isn't very good at browsing folders or selections with large numbers of images. As you noted, the cache building slows it down.
There are several things you can do to speed things up.
    1. Build the cache as a separate task, before browsing.
Select the root folder of your images, then click Tools > Cache > Build and Export Cache (don't tick any of the boxes). This will generate thumbnail and preview jpegs in the cache.
    2. Make smaller selections.
Don't select more than a few hundred images at once. Keep images in a folder hierarchy by date, location, subject, etc. Make larger selections by using searches by filename, keyword, collections, etc.
    3. Keep Bridge and Camera Raw up to date.
There have been annoying bugs in recent versions of Bridge and Camera Raw, regarding layered TIFFs and thumbnail generation. Personally, I have ditched Camera Raw 7.3 and gone back to 7.0 because of performance problems.
    4. Prefer embedded thumbnails.
Theoretically, Bridge will use your cached thumbnails and previews (or it may just forget some of them again) if they are available, even if you select "Browse quickly by preferring embedded images" from the toolbar. Selecting this option seems to help with the constant desire to rebuild some of the *@#%$* cache, and should help get your system back to its idle state more quickly.
You will find that browsing is faster/smoother if you wait for your computer to catch up with Bridge's demands. I have found that smaller thumbnails scroll faster while Bridge is working in the background.
I've probably forgotten something, but that should help a bit.

  • Indesign CS6 very slow with vectors. please Help!

We updated to CS6 from CS5.5 to a Mac Pro running OS 10.6. Processors are 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon. Ram is 10 GB 800 MHz DDR2. Video card is ATI Radeon HD 2600 256 MB. One Cinema Display and a smaller Samsung monitor.
The performance of InDesign when handling groups of vector files created inside InDesign is horrible. For example, I took a little 3 x 3px square and created a grid of 60 squares approx. When I select all of them (pure vectors) and try to move them it takes InDesign 10 seconds to respond to the selection first, and then 10 more seconds to move them.
Another example, I created a very simple graph, pure vector of course, with a moderate number of text and lines and when I select the whole thing the lag comes again, takes a lot to mark the selection and then is very hard to move it.
We have tweaked InDesign preferences (Interface, File Handling) as much as we could but the issue remains. We didn't have any problems with 5.5.
    Help please!

had to install mountain lion and now everything works smoothly

  • Indesign CS6 Very slow - cross-references?

    Dear All,
I have been struggeling with this for over 2 days now..
I've treid the following solutions on the Adobe website
    http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/slow-performance-indesign-cs5.html
    and http://indesignsecrets.com/why-is-indesign-soooo-slow.php
It does not seem to work.
My document is around 40 pages, with some images (around 20), but it has a lot of cross references to a table in the same document.
I have untreaded a lot of information. Currently only 10 pages maximum is threaded.
My pc has 8 gb ram, 2.5 Ghz and around 40 GB free HD space.
I think it might be my cross references, but I don't know how to fix it..
I don't want it to be removed out of the table (because i need my references sorted on alhabatical order).
    Hope you guys can help
    Thanks,
    Daan

@Daan – I do not much with cross references, but several users here and in other forums report performance issues when working with cross references.
There is a 3rd party solution by DTP Tools:
    http://www.dtptools.com/product.asp?id=crin
You could test a trial version.
(And report back here how fast it is :-) )

  • CS6 very slow saving large files

I have recently moved from PS CS5 to CS6 and have noticed what seems to be an increase in the amount of time it takes to save large files. At the moment I am working with a roughly 8GB .psb and to do a save takes about 20 minutes. For this reason I have had to disable the new autosave features, otherwise it just takes far too long.
CS5 managed to save larger files, more quickly and with less memory available to it. Looking at system resources while Photoshop is trying to save, it is not using its full allocation of RAM specified in performance preferences and there is still space free on the primary scratch disc. The processor is barely being used and disc activity is minimal (Photoshop might be writing at 4mb/s max, often not at all though according to Windows).
I am finding the new layer filtering system invaluable so would rather not go back to CS5. Is this is a known issue or is there something I can do to speed up the saving process?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the quick replies.
Noel: I did actually experiment with turing off 'maximize compatibility' and compression and it had both good and bad effects. On the plus side it did reduce the save time somewhat, to somewhere a little over 10 minutes. However it also had the effect of gobbling up ever more RAM while saving, only leaving me with a few hundred mb's during the save process. This is odd in itself as it actually used up more RAM than I had allocated in the preferences. The resulting file was also huge, almost 35 GB. Although total HD space isn't a problem, for backing up externally and sharing with others this would make things a real headache.
Curt: I have the latest video driver and keep it as up to date as possible.
Trevor: I am not saving to the same drive as the scratch dics, although my primary scratch disc does hold the OS as well (it's my only SSD). The secondary scratch disc is a normal mechanical drive, entirely separate from where the actual file is held. If during the save process my primary scratch disc was entirely filled I would be concerned that that was an issue, but it's not.
Noel: I have 48 GB with Photoshop allowed access to about 44 of that. FYI my CPU's are dual Xeon X5660's and during the save process Photoshop isn't even using 1 full core i.e. less than 4% CPU time.
