Bridge Disconnects

Hi,
I have a new Playbook and it is connected to my Blackberry Tour 9630, which is running v 5.0.0.975.  The carrier is Verizon.
I am curious to see if anyone else is having issues with the bridge connection dropping.  Sometimes it drops when a new message comes in.  Other times it just drops.  It happens every time I use it.  Sometimes it reconnects again, sometimes immediately, sometimes not.
When it doesn't reconnect I need to reboot the Playbook to get it to reconnect.
Is there anything I can do to make it stop dropping the connection?
Is there anything I can do short of rebooting so that it will regain the connection?
Thank you.

I have a Torch with AT&T so I am using the unsupported version of the Bridge I dowloaded from Crackberry.com for the time being. I also have experienced instances where the Bridge connection is lost. It seems to happen to me occassionally when a)my phone detects another Bluetooth device b)I leave the phone in sleep/holster mode for a long period of time or c)I get too far away with my phone from the PB for the bluetooth signal to reach.
I have found that in most cases once the devices are both back in range and active, if I click on one of the PB Bridge icons such as Email or BBM it will automatically reconnect. In other cases I have actually gone to the Bridge settings on the PB and reconnected or on the Bridge app on the phone and reconnected. All of these steps have worked in various instances but the one that has been most reliable for me (short of rebooting either device) is to simply turn off Bluetooth on the phone, wait a second, then turn it back on. This always then allows me to reconnect to the PB Bridge.
I hope this helps.

  • AEBS and AExpress N ethernet bridge disconnects when I sleep MBP??

Hi all this is my first post but im a long time mac user having grown up in a mac house.
anyways im an it guy by profession and ive been working at this issue to no avail so I figured I might come on there and see if any of you have experienced this issue
the issue I get is that when I close/sleep my MBP it disconnects the Airport Express ethernet bridge clients
    NETWORK Info
I run a small business from my home thus I have FiOS (yay 20/20) with a block of 13 static ips that i distribute via DHCP and MAC reservation to allow remote access to my network as well as keep things consistent.
I currently run cat6 from my FiOS ONT to my Airport Extreme Base Station, which i use on a strict N only in 5ghz range as my area is flooded with b/g networks but no n networks (yay again).
I recently acquired an N Airport Express to provide a wireless to ethernet bridge thus extending my network to my entertainment center (ps3 xbox etc)
(extra info: im using n here because i found that b/g limits my internet connection speeds to 7-9 mbps where as my connection is capable of 20. On my n speed network I can get my full bandwidth wirelessly, yes I know there is obviously some bandwidth and throughput loss by going wireless but not as much as a b/g network was giving me)
    NETWORK SETTINGS
On my n network I distribute a range of IP addresses from my static block. I have tried a few different dhcp lease times which definitely improved my initial problem which seemed that it would log me out when the key rotated every 20 min. Currently ive bumped that up to 1 day (i know not as secure id like to set it back to 20min but it seems that when it rotates that it logs me out) and haven't had that specific issue revolving around key rotation again. ive tried the WDS, Extend a network and join a network options with no real difference in behavior when I shut my laptop and for example my GF is playing rock-band online she gets disconnected also worth noting that it seems there is an intermittent DNS issue on the express ie cant find time server even though at that time ethernet clients are able to connect and get dns response
Below is my log from my express base station when the disconnect occurs

  • WUMC710 bridge disconnects from EA6500 router daily

This HAS been asked before, but the threads are long, and I have yet to glean an answer. All firmware has been updated. It bridges my entertainment system to the router. It had worked great for a very long time, no hiccups. It worked flawlessly. A few months ago it began disconnecting daily. So about a week ago I checked and updated firmware on both boxes. Yet still it disconnects daily. I have to power off the WUMC710 and I'm good for an evenings use. The wireless indicator light above the button on the WUMC710 is off the next day, and so I know I have to repower the unit once again. How can I possibly get back to where I was with such flawless operation?

My WRT1900AC (version 1) will not maintain viable connection to the WUMC710 unless I make the following two 5 GHz band option changes:
    1. Channel: - from “Auto” to “1” (5.805 GHz)
    2. Channel Width: - from “Auto” to “40 MHz” Since it didn’t seem to matter which Channel or Channel Width setting was selected, I suspect the “Auto” setting of each option may be culprit here.  You see I’m an old, retired telecom network engineer.  Back in the day, the use of “Auto” for any equipment option “setting” simply could not be trusted!  Actually, back then “Auto” settings were more for convenience, which is probably not the intention of product design today.  Anyway, the router’s “Auto” setting just may not be working well enough to suite the WUMC710. By the way, I’m also using the current versions of firmware for both the WRT1900AC and WUMC710 (which is comforting). Speaking of firmware, the firmware used in the EA6500 and WRT1900AC is similar.  The “Channel:” you use may be different.  Also, you may want to make sure the Network Mode: is set for “Mixed”. Please note: Network Mode: “Mixed”, and Channel: “Auto”, are said to be required for 802.11ac operation in both the EA6500 and WRT1900AC (ver.1).  So here’s the caveat, this solution, if it works for you, only addresses the WUMC710 “disconnecting” problem.  I do not have the means now to test if true 802.11ac transmission is available.  However, in my network, it’s handling at least 70 Mb/s of very clean through-put with no problems. I’ve tested this using both “speedtest.net”, "pingtest.net" and the WRT1900AC’s built-in Speed Test app (all Ookla). I ordered two WUMC710s a couple of years ago from Cisco/Linksys, on sale for $35 each.  When they arrived, I set each one up to verify it worked, then put both away against the day I felt the need to “stream mass quantities of data”.  Two weeks ago, I pulled one unit out of mothballs to extend my home WiFi network and ran smack into the “disconnecting” problem.  If I ever need really big bandwidth again, I’ll check out one of the newer Belkin/Linksys access point models. This time I’ll test thoroughly and promptly return if there’s a problem. I hope this works for you. Good Luck

Try removing the BlackBerry Bridge App from the BlackBerry smartphone and and disable any connections between the PlayBook and BlackBerry smartphone.  Now pair your devices and start the BlackBerry Bridge process from the beginning.  Let me know if that got you anywhere.

  • Interpretation of status lights colours when starting up a new time capsule

Time capsule documentation on the booklet included in the packaging about the light status is relatively uncomplete and leading to confusion when interpreting the colours on the fisrt start up.
The light indeed may not come green at all despite the fact that the Time capsule is already connected to the Internet. It may flash slowly amber and you may have as well the Airport section connected. Consequently the amber flashing light is not only reflecting an Internet connection problem
The status light in fact reports about to main activities 1 the Internet connection status 2 the network status.
Using a home DSL modem to connect the Time Capsule with an ethernet cable, open Airport Utility, waiting a few seconds. One can see two leds on the screen. Top one is for the Internet status and left bottom one for the Network status.
If the Time Capsule flashes amber, it may have a green status led on the Internet connection while having an amber status led on the Network side.
When being on the Airport Utility screen clicking on the Capsule will bring up a comment about the problem, asking to change the parameters of the router.
Choosing the bridge disconnected mode will clear  the problem and the status light of the Capsule will finally turn to green colour. On the Aiport Utility screen both ledswill be then green.

By default, it should use Ethernet if both are available, but if the "service order" in your Network Preferences gets shuffled, it may not.
Be sure it's really using Ethernet (turn WIFI off briefly).
There's a single, fixed partition on the TC's internal HD -- you can't partition it.
Something is clearly wrong; you should get something like 20-25 GB/hour (overall, with a lot of variation), in that configuration.  See #D2 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

  • Bridge Network Adapters Always Start Disconnected

I've been working on this for two weeks with no success.   Everytime I reboot my server, Windows Server 2008 R2 & VmWare Sever 2.02 any VMs that are set to bridged networking boot with their network adapter set as disconnected.  It requires a manual "click" of the checkbox to turn on the network adapter.  I have been using VMware server since version 1 and have never had this problem.  One unusual thing is the Manager Virtual Networks Auto-Bridging doesn't seem to show any network adapters, although networking continues to work.   If I set my VM to NAT or host only my adapter starts connected, as it should.
    Things I have tried:
    Uninstall VmWare server & Reinstall
Uninstall and create various VM Hosts, all do the same, pre-compiled applicanece and all costum built.
Moved host images to another server (works fine)
Checked to make sure Bridge Protcal is installed on ethernet adapter, even removed and readded.
Uninstalled and reinstalled ethernet adapter (Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller(NDIS6.20)
This is a Windows Server 2008 R2 box with lots of ram  and plenty of resources only running spiceworks & splunk in a test capacity.  Using this machine for testing and pre-deployment but it's virtual machines need to act like they would in production.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Opps typo, I moved the VM images to different hosts, Windows server 2003, 2008 and 2008 R2.  My home box runs 2008 R2 and Vmware server nicely together without this issue.  Hence why I'm at a loss.
    Thanks for  your interest.

Any ideas?  I probably have something wrong in my computer settings.

You should restore your modem to router condition and set the Airport Express to 'Bridge Mode'. A full explanation and the method of doing this is here:

  • I have two airport extremes, one acting as amodem and the other operating in bridge mode.  The extremes are connected using ethernet, but remain connected even when I disconnect the Cat5a cable. How do I know if they are operating wired or wirelessly

I have two airport extremes, one acting as a modem and the other operating in bridge mode.  The extremes are connected using ethernet, but remain connected even when I disconnect the Cat5a cable (I did this to check that the 100 feet of Cat 5a cable connecting them was working). How do I find out if they are operating wired or wirelessly?  I want to know as I assume I will get much better speeds if they are wired.

Hi Bob, many thanks for the prompt response.  I think I did what you suggested, but you're the expert so I have sent over a few screenshots.  The extreme in question is High Birches Home Office (the rest of the network has been in place and working well for some time).  My new home office is going to be in the garden, circa 100 feet from the main house.  I have installed armoured Cat5e cable down to the shed that is going to be adjacent to the home office once built and situated the High Birches Home Office Airport Extreme there temporarily.  Everything works well, so I was surprised when I unplugged the ethernet, that it still worked.  I also tested the ethernet cable by switching off my laptop's wifi and unplugging the cable from the airport extreme and directly into the laptop and that worked ok.
If the screenshots below (I did every Airport utility tab for the High Birches Home Office) don't tell you anything more, then the set-by-step instructions would greatly appreciated so I can ensure I completed the steps correctly.
    Many
    Thanks, Greg.

  • Labview 2011 always disconnecting over wireless Ethernet bridge!

Hello, we recently upgraded from labview 2009 to labview 2011. We use a Labview cRio-9014 and FPGA backplane 9114. For connecting the cRio to our laptop we use Digi XPress Ethernet Bridge: Multipoint 900MHz industrial wireless part# XEB09. This program worked over our wireless link running labview 2009 with the old cRio software.
After upgrading the desktop, upgrading the cRio's software and recompiling the FPGA code we tested our setup via a wired ethernet connection and ran it all day with no problems. However once we switched to using our wireless ethernet bridges the cRio disconnects always 2-3 minutes after starting. It also does not allow us to reconnect without powercycling the cRio. The radio modems show a solid connect and no problems the whole time. Now I've searched through known issues and all over the forums without finding anyone having a similar issue so I hope someone can chime in and let me know if something else in LV2011 changed or what.
My current hypothesis is that labview 2011 uses UDP packets for status/keep-alive and our radio modems are not guaranteed to recieve all UDP packets. Please correct me since this is only a guess and I don't know what's going on under the hood on the cRio side.
P.S. I've captured the packet data using WireShark on the laptops side from deployment until disconnection but can't find any obvious problems. It's a fairly large file so let me know if it's needed and I'll try to find a way to upload it.
    Hopefully someone can help.

  • Disconnect from Server Drive Sporadically Using Bridge

When using Adobe Bridge CS4 I keep getting disconnected to a network drive. My PC stays connected via Explorer but not in Bridge. I have to restart Bridge to get access back.
    Windows XP
    Adobe Bridge CS4

Good luck with that.  It most likely has something to do with the network, and Bridge is really not set up for network function.  It works that way but Adobe says there are so many variables with networks that can not be quantified.  Not sure but if  Bridge does error checking like Photoshop does it could lead to what you see.

  • When attempting to use the Lighting effects filter in CS6 it begins to load but then the programme seizes up.  It is then necessary to disconnect from the supply to restart.  Having done this an attempt to "Browse in Bridge" simply opens a host of files b

On a previous occasion a similar problem occurred but without affecting Bridge.  At that time it was suggested that I update the graphics card and this worked.

Same here I have Lumia 920, 3 days after I bought it the device had an overheating problem and once the phone is off, I have to work hard to turn it on again, from soft resetting and hard resetting it After that I brought the phone to Nokia Care Center (I'm Indonesian by the way) in the NCC Branch in my province. 2 days after that, they told me that the problem was solved and asked me to take the phone. When I got there and the Costumer Service want to give me the phone, she try to turn on the phone, but she can't. She take the phone to a room (I don't know maybe it's the repairman room or whatever) and when she got out she told me that the problem is still exist and they will brought my phone to the NCC Center in other province. I have to wait for 2 weeks. Can you believe it? 2 weeks WITHOUT ANY PHONE? I have to buy another low-end phone that time.
After that the phone back to normal, But Then another problem come, after update my phone to Amber, my phone can't use Nokia Pro Cam (at that time, before Nokia Camera out), Bing Vision, Maps, Glance Screen, Auto Rotate, and GAMES. at first I just have to restart the phone to turn it back, but then the problem is not solved after I restart, even then, I did a hard reset but the problem is still there. Last friday, I brought my phone to the Nokia Care Center, they asked to take it the next day, but AGAIN! The problem is not solved, and they said I have to wait until the newest software update to come so the problem can be solved. Today, still no news or information from them, I don't know if I can trust Nokia Care Center again after this

  • Detailed Software Repair Instructions using Pc Companion(Win)or Bridge for MAC. (Update 8/5/2014)

We have an extended guide that should help you repair the system of your phone. This instructions are valid for all Android based units and for some legacy Sony Ericsson models(The list of phones that can be used with the application is displayed in Step 9 of the process). please follow the instructions carefully: Turn the phone off and disconnect it from the computer.  1. Visit this link:http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/Click on Download PC companion2.Run the software After the installation the first screen will show you the PC Companion Startup Guide which gives you a brief explanation on the main modules of PC companion (Support Zone, Xperia Transfer, Contact setup and Media Go) Keep clicking next.3.Now you will see the screen with the different modules.Select Support Zone> Click Start.  The program will download the module. Then click on start on Phone/Tablet Software update. (Here you can choose to update an accessory, go to step 14 for instructions) Note: At this point if you get an error stating that "unable to install update components" or "server is busy" Please proceed to step 13 . If you not see that error then continue with step 4.
    4. The program will show a window saying "could not find phone/Tablet” Do not Connect phone instead select Repair my phone/tablet. This will bring you to a window with a warning that says "data will be lost" (do you want to continue) Select to continue (Data in the phone will be deleted, only data in the SD card will remain. Make sure you have done all proper backups if possible)6. The program will issue a second warning stating that “data saved in the phone /tablet will be overwritten during the update of your phone”. Click on the checkmark box next to the acceptance text and select Next to continue.7. Next the computer will download the necessary files (Prepare stage, this can take several minutes depending on the speed of your connection) and then its done it will show you a list of recommendations for a successful update operation. When you are done reading this section click on the checkmark box and press Continue8. Next you will get a Battery level warning that states that your phone should have at least 80% battery. (If the issue in the phone does not permit the unit from turning on, then charge it connected to the wall charger for at least 2 hours and then comeback to this step) Then click on the checkmark and select Next9. Choose the Phone from the list then click on "next" then you will see a new section telling you how to connect the phone. (don't connect it yet) Again, at this point the phone must be off and disconnected from the PC. 10.. (in some cases a message of  "Installing drivers" will appear before the message of "the update of your phone has started..."  is shown.) 11. If you failed to follow the steps correctly the phone will turn on. If this happens disconnect the phone from the cable, turn it off and repeat from step 10). 12. If the phone is connected properly, PC Companion will proceed with the update ( It will tell you to let go of the key) then wait for the update to finish and follow instructions on screen to disconnect the unit.  End of process. ----------------------------------------------------------------------If the software fails to install:13. If "unable to install update components" 1. Close Pc companion 2. Install Java from: http://www.java.com 3. start Pc companion again and try to do the software unlock process once more. 14.Select Accessories software update. Click on start and the computer will download the necessary files (Prepare Stage) it will take several minutes. Then follow the instructions from step 8.  Note: Some computers may block the installation of the update service, if this happens use this:http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/update-service/ this is the Standalone update software. (Not globally available)If the Phone is unresponsive (Then do this extra step and when done proceed to redo the repair process:Press and hold the power button and the volume up button at the same time for 10 to 15 seconds. This will reset the unit)Note: This procedure does not work for the Xperia Play R800x (Verizon and other Non SIM card variants of the Xperia play that lack MTP support.  It does work for the R800a At&t's model)Bridge For Mac instructions on my post below. Valid for all Android based units and most java Sony Ericsson units.

Here are the basic Steps for Bridge for MAC.Download Bridge for MAC from:http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/bridge-for-mac/The phone should not be connected to the MAC.

Click on continue bellow. Doing so will popup a window warning you about the loss of your personal info. Click on the checkmark signaling that you understand the data loss situation,
This will take you to the Connection Procedure Screen. Follow the instructions in the screen and click on continue*.

  • WHY cant the new Droids transfer without disconnecting to my Apple desktop computer?

I have the Sony Xperia Z3V and have like one day to decide to return it. Nobody has been helpful. I cannot sync or link my new phone to my Apple desktop. I used to have an HTC Thunderbolt which was flawless and I was able to mount as a drive, view items on the phone before transferring over to my desktop. For this Sony I have NO option but to use that Android File Transfer but it keeps disconnecting on me using the USB connection - VERY frustrating!! It was ok the very first day I had it, but realized it just doesn’t work with Mac. Each day something odd happens to it. I am not into apps so I don’t use a lot of stuff besides basics. So I find the Sony Bridge app for Mac users. But that wouldn’t load because I had Mac OS 10.5.8 and it required Snow Leopard 10.6. So I upgrade to 10.6, an upgrade I didn’t want to make but nothing works without it anymore, and then software updates took it up to the slow 10.6.8 (which significantly slowed and ruined my productivity). I tried the new app and it doesn’t link with my phone at all. So again I contact Sony support and they were NOT helpful, saying that app works with their own Xperia Z3, not with Verizon’s version of it.
I had contacted Verizon and they tell me all that is available for Droid is the Android File Transfer and to contact Sony since they are considered last tier. Sony tells me Verizon developed the phone, so contact Verizon. I am sick of “support” shifting responsibility. 3x I have contacted Sony and have gotten RIDICULOUS suggestions like opening the USB door and restarting the phone, and trying a different USB slot on my MAC and even to install JAVA, which was already on my computer and has nothing to do with anything. I literally stayed quiet on my end knowing full well that these suggestions were absurd by “tech support” who knew nothing at all.
I need a simple function like the HTC Thunderbolt that had the ability to mount as a drive and I was able to view (before transfer) what I am seeing before transferring to my Mac desktop. It was SIMPLE. I was able to see my SD card contents and the internal contents. My SMS-to-Text showed up and that was it. On the new Droid phones, the SD portion doesn’t show up at all!! I am wondering if this is standard behavior for Droids now. I refuse to go iPhone as I do not like the functionality of it and HTC wont come out with a better phone til next year and who knows if it will give me problems with this lack of connectivity.
On the Sony, the naming convention in photos is poorly managed. It is not a good tool to transfer photos over to the desktop, delete them off the cell phone, as they are no longer needed and then when you start to re-shoot photos on the cell phone, it starts over on the naming convention and hence when you transfer files over to the computer, that file already exists and the computer will ask if you want to replace them but you cant because the image is different! (i.e.) If I shoot a photo and they name it #IMAGE_3, I transfer it on my computer and delete #IMAGE_3 off the cell, when I shoot with my cell again, it replaces the old #IMAGE_3 with the new image and hence when I take to my desktop, an #IMAGE_3 already exists with a different image, thus having to rename one of them manually. This recycling of naming convention is NOT efficient.
Bugs so far (a LOT showed up after one day):
Duplicate repeat photos, especially after viewing them, some triplets.
Duplicate text messages on receiver end on a HTC.
    Random restart once.
Hit messages – get the settings button or something else. Had to get messages through notifications.
Sony Xperia Z3V does NOT work at night. During night mode and fireworks and any low light, it would focus, be clear and then when you click, it re-focuses and shoots the blurred image, over and over again – clear to shoot, re-thinks at the press of a button and shoots the blur.
Speakers are WEAK! Nothing like the awesome HTC or even the new Motorola Turbo.
The auto rotation was working great when it physically was turned over but not anymore. Does the Incipio Sony Xperia Z3V case have something to do with the triggering system on back?
What is the difference between viewing in “Photos” versus “Album” – “always” or “just once.” Which is best to use so I can stop this dialog box?
My Apple used to run Leopard 10.5.8 and I upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6 (which automatically self updated to 10.6.8) and now my computer runs sloooooow. I did all the “cleanup” necessary and its still slow. Trash takes forever to delete and even if I have 3 items in there, it claims I have over 1000. The only reason I upgraded to 10.6 was because nothing online was functioning for my “outdated” OS any longer. I cannot afford to keep up with technology.

  • Undocumented 'random disconnection' from manually connected wireless

    I have got a USB-N13 wireless-N300 dongle.
According to 'lspci -k' I have the drivers, and I have a wireless interface. So I know that my dongle has drivers but I don't know if they work 100% well.

This is all the information from when I fist see an wireless interface.
All, I can tell is that my wlp5s0u1 doesn't go down, but a few seconds before I plug in my wireless bridge, or enp4s0, my 'Internet stops...' Or I can't search google, and my youtube stops streaming, conky says that about 30bytes get transfered from that point on, and there is no errors?!
I'm not on a laptop, and my device's power saver is set to off. And as I'm not getting the second error I don't know how to fix this.
    $ iw dev wlp5s0u1 get power_save
    Power save: off
(Sorry if this is blatantly obvious, I've only had arch for under a month, with no prior Linux experience, and my dad can't help me with it too!)
    EDIT:
Please can someone please tell me something that I can try or look into to resolve this, I have a useless dongle now, and an Internet connection that drops at least 50% of the packets.
