Bridge DNG convert on download

I am using Bridge CS3 (Windows XP) and shooting RAW with a Nikon D80.
When I get files from my camera I have no problem getting the RAW files to download. However, the "Convert to DNG" is greyed out and I can't select this option.
I can convert to DNG after I download with no problem. How can I make this a one step process so I can convert to DNG on download.
I would be very appreciative of any advice. Thanks

Don't know anything about that plugin.  Appears to be a conflict with Adobe.  Might check the plugin website and see if they have known problems with Photoshop.

  • Downloading DNG converter and it's not working

I've downloaded, reinstalled, and tried several different versions of DNG converter to download my 2nd shooters Nikon D7100 RAW .NEF files, but it's not finding any images once I have it installed. I've downloaded version 7.4 for Windows, which contains the D7100 update...and I've tried installing the newer version 8.6 as well. Nothing seems to be working. What am I doing wrong?

If you are new to the DNG converter, it's possible you are getting caught by the prompt where the converter is asking you to locate your raw files. It's only asking for the folder. Don't open the folder containing your raw images or you will get the message that there are no images to convert.

  • Download not found when trying to download Raw to DNG Converter

When I try to download the Raw to DNG Converter 8.3, it tells me that the details for the download cannot be found as the DNS is not pointing to the correct area. I have tries other versions of the converter and it gives the same error. Any ideas?

When I go into Home/Downloads/Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter and choose a DNG Converter to download, in this case 8.3, I get take to a page which states that This Webpage is not available.
The address of the page is http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/dng/win/DNGConverter_8_3.exe
I have tried a few other DNG Converter versions and get the same thing.
It looks like a server is down or something.
Hope this helps in identifying the issue.

  • Adobe Bridge CS4 - "convert to DNG" not working?

    Hi
I am downloading a bunch of raw .CR2 files taken with a Canon 5D mark iii, and trying to convert them to DNG using Bridge, so that I can open them up in Camera Raw (which won't read the original CR2 files as you need CS5.5 or later). I have selected the "convert to DNG" option but the conversion doesn't seem to work, it's just copying the CR2 files over, Any idea why?
    thanks

I have selected the "convert to DNG" option but the conversion doesn't seem to work, it's just copying the CR2 files over, Any idea why?
It seems you are using Photodownloader that comes with the CS version you are using currently. This Photodownloader is linked to the Raw converter of the version it is part of. So if it does not show the CR2 files as images it also won't convert to DNG
For this you need to download the latest and Free Adobe DNG converter.
Check this page, there is also an option to download the converter for either Mac or Windows

  • Dng Converter not working in Bridge

    Hi
I have CS3 and have already downloaded the latest version of the DNG converter.  When I use the Converter as a separate application, it works fine to convert my RAW files to DNG files.  Recently I discovered the process in Bridge called "Get Photos from Camera" where I can process many steps with one click.  Unfortunately, the part where it is suppose to convert my RAW to DNG files isn't working.  Any ideas why?  Some background info, I recently upgraded from Vista 64bit to Windows 7 64bit.  I uninstalled PS CS3 and then installed it back, and it's working fine except for this one little step.  Do I need to install the DNG converter again, but designate it to put loaded into a different folder so that Bridge recognizes it ?  Would appreciate any support or feedback.  Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.

The camera I am using is the Canon 5D MkII.  Raw images from this camera can not be read by my version of Camera Raw V.4.6.  The readable version for CR V4.6 is DNG Converter V5.5.  This is all for my PS CS3.
I discovered this Bridge process in a Scott Kelby Book, for CS3, called "Get Photos for Camera".  He specifically goes thru each step, and the second step is the DNG Conversion process.  It worked for him.  It should work for me.
Ah, but did he do it for images from a 2009 camera with a 2007 version of PS?

  • Install RAW DNG Converter 7-2 from my desktop to Bridge and Photoshop?

I have a Sony A99 DSLR which is now supported by Adobe.  I downloaded the DNG (RAW) Converter 7_2 to my desktop.  How do I install it in Bridge and Photoshop?

DNG converter is a standalone tool. For Photoshop/ Bridge you need the corresponding version of Camera Raw (ACR). Refer to this:

  • Question about DNG converter in Bridge CS4

    Hello,
I just installed Photoshop CS4, When I updated, it downloaded a hefty update (199 megs), so my setup now is:
    Win XP pro
    Bridge 3.0.0.464
    Camera RAW 5.7
    Photoshop CS4 11.0.2
My Camera is a Panasonic Lumix FZ150 ( 2011 vintage)
I have downloaded the Adobe DNG converter 6.6.0.261
Every thing seems to be working fine so far, except:
In Bridge when I "get Photos from Camera" the DNG conversion doesn't work. When I use the standalone converter it works fine.
From reading past material on this forum I am assuming this is due to the fact that Bridge is older than my camera, and doesn't recognize the format.
    The questions:
    1. Does Bridge have its own built in DNG converter that is not upgradeable separately?
    2. If 1 is correct, is there a way to point Bridge to the location of the standalone converter so the work flow can be optimized.
    3. Since Bridge is not doing the conversion, but only importing the files, does the "Apply metadata" section of that window actually do anything? Should I bother to fill in any of those boxes?
    Thanks for any help.

I posted a similar question quite a while ago, and what I learned was that Bridge has a DNG converter built in, but it's using ACR to read the file before it can convert. So you need ACR support for your camera.
AFAIK there's no way to point Bridge to a standalone DNG converter.
I suggested an updateable DNG converter plugin for Bridge, don't know why nobody listened...I thought it was an excellent idea
As for the metadata, you just have to try. I don't know if it can write metadata when it can't read the file.

  • CS3 with Bridge and DNG converter on new MacBook Pro and update recognition

I have CS 3 with Bridge.  I installed it on my MAC desktop in 2008 and had to update the DNG converter to recognize my Nikon D700 raw files.  I have a new MAC Book Pro and installed the software on it but it does not recognize the raw files, I downloaded the updated DNG converter but unlike the desktop it did not automatically update as I recalled it did in 2008.  On the DNG Converter window the #1 selection is select image to convert, #2 Select location to save conver timages and #3 select name for converted images.  Not sure what to do here, it all most leads me to believe i need to do this each time I download raw images?
Any step by step help is appreciated!

  • Loupe in Bridge doesn't display DNG images created using DNG Converter correctly. Why?

I have noticed recently an anomaly in Bridge when viewing DNG files that are created by converting my Nikon NEF files to DNG using the DNG converter. Specifically, when clicking on the preview image of a DNG file, in order to open the loupe, the 100% image seen in the loupe remain fuzzy, whereas when clicking on a preview of the original NEF file the 100% view in the loupe is sharp and clear.
I am using DNG Converter version 4.6.0.3, and it also occurs when using version 4.4.1. I am using Bridge version 2.1.1.9.
I have no reason to believe that Bridge is at fault, since the loupe function does work properly when viewing the NEF file. It would seem that there's a problem in the DNG conversion.
However, despite this anomaly seen in Bridge, when I open the DNG file in Camera Raw, it is perfectly normal at 100% or any magnification.
I have tried re-setting the JPEG review size in the DNG converter, but that makes no difference.
What's going on here? I don't want to keep both the NEF and DNG versions, for reasons of space, but I'd like the loupe to work correctly. Help, please?

Try to recreate the thumbnails for that folder.
Use the latest version of the converter (5.4)

You need camera raw 8.4 for your camera, if it’s Digital Rebel T5 EOS 1200D EOS Kiss X70. It is not compatible with PSE11; so it’s a bit odd if that software was bundled with the camera except that it will work with jpegs. I suggest you download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will editable in PSE11(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.4
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

This is the last paragraph from my very first response to you, post #1 in this thread:
…Additionally, you need to install the DNG Converter, not just "download" it, and you need to launch it and run it on each folder of NEFs you wish to convert to raw DNGs.  [emphasis added]

I just purchased the new Canon SX60 camera. Despite downloading and installing the latest version of Adobe DNG converter, I receive an error message saying that Photoshop CS4 can't open up/convert raw files (.CR2). This is the same file format as used by the SX50, with which I never had any problem. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this problem? Thanks.

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras  I do not see that SX60 as supported. Just how new is the SX60 when was it announces. Its support is not even listed in ACR 8.7 RC
