Bridge Email Limitations - Spelling & Copy/Paste

Another thing that needs to be corrected (maybe I'm just missing the ability) before this truly can go corporate wide is the ability in email via the bridge to correct misspelled words and copy/paste. The spell changes is a bigger issue. I know it works on the applications on the device, but its a big need in email. Again hopefully this will be corrected in a software update in the near future.

I found in the bridge mode when writing emails the spelling errors would show with a red underline. But, I found the spelling corrector does not work.
It is possible to copy and paste in the bridge mode. The process is very much like in the Word To Go program. You can look up the details for this in the help system.
I found getting around for critical positions with the touch screen to be a bit critical, and slows me down. Using the spell corrector, or copy and paste takes extra effort.
In consideration that the Playbook is a new technology, and from what I have been told and read the operating software and programs will be going through much development, the inovation of this device is genius. I do enjoy using it, and find it to be an excellent small computer for emails, writing basic text files, and browsing the net.
I managed to get the Playbook GPS working with the Bing Maps program. I downloaded a free compas program. Because of the size of the screen, it makes for an excellent GPS device. From what I found the GPS worked only when outside, and using the Playbook in the tethered mode so it can download the necessary map and function data.

  • Copy + Paste in bridged email and BBM

    HI all,
Is it possible to copy and paste in bridged email and BBM? As a workaround I copy and paste content in my phone and save it as a draft to finish editing it in PB later.
    32GB PB still in 1.0.6.2390
    Thanks

you can copy and paste at present in non bridged apps.

  • No copy & paster between Playbook Browser and Bridge Email?!

Can anyone confirm the problem I see and maybe know whether RIM is working on it?
Quite often I need to paste text portions out of a website and include it in an email and send it.
In this case I copied the web adress in the PB browser and tried to paste it into the Bridged Email App.
No success, there is no paste option available. Pasting to a native PB app works!
This is a huge drawback and I am sure many other will discover this problem, sooner or later.
    Is the adressed to RIM?

Bridge related issue related to language configuration of the PlayBook was solved by the following steps,
    1.Unpair your devices;
    2.Change language to default English;
    3. reboot PlayBook;
    4.Pair the devices and bridge;
5.Change the language of the PlayBook to your prefered one.
    Hope that solves your issue.

I don't believe it will open a Word document, but Writepad allows for handwritten conversion of notes to text and then to email. Might help you some of the way...

  • How do I copy & paste from an email to another web site?

How do I copy & paste from an email to another web site?

Hello, not quite sure what it is you want to do.
In Mail you can copy something by highlighting it & CMD+c, or Mail>Edit>Copy, but whether you can paste it to a website, not sure, but you could say paste in in a Reply here...

  • Email password copy/paste - Nokia 5230

I have a 64bit password for the email I want to synchronize with my phone. Its random letters and numbers. I want to be able to copy paste that to the relevant field. Or I want to disable the "hide password" option (where anything I type is converted into *'s) since after typing it I have no way to verify if I wrote everything correctly. Mistakes do happen with a touchscreen.

Highlight the text you want to copy. Depending on your OS version you should get a small menu that shows options for cut/copy/paste/ select, etc. If you don't, highlight the text, and hit the more key at the bottom and select Copy.
Then in the field you want to paste, touch and hold and you should get a pop up menu with a paste option. If you don't get the option, put the cursor in the field, hit the more button at the bottom, and then select paste.
That said, there are some fields where copy/paste doesn't work. If you're in an HTML email and the text is actually part of a picture you won't be able to copy it.

  • Bridge copy/paste renames files?

I've noticed that if I copy and paste a file in Bridge CS5 - the resulting new file has its name converted to all lowercase. As we use specific job numbers to name our files, this is most inconvenient behavior. What is going on? Am I doing something wrong?

    Tai Lao,
I'm not convinced that this "goes through RAM" or in particular, though the clipboard…
Thank you, Richard Wagner.  That's an interesting theory for the Bridge engineers to deny or confirm, indeed.  It's still a workflow I would never want to adopt.
You really don't need the engineers. If you select the root of one filename in Bridge and copy (command-C), then switch to the Finder and Show Clipboard, you will see the copied text of the filename. On the other hand, if you select one or more files (not just the filename) and do the same, you will see that the clipboard is not overwritten. You cannot, for example, "copy and paste" a file to the desktop or to another application. Internally, Bridge understands the context of what the user is trying to do and invokes the appropriate code. File copies and especially moves would be extremely inefficient if Bridge had to open each file and load it into RAM, then write the file to the destination. It would also have to track and do the same for XMP files, etc. Without question Bridge is "smart enough" to use file-based system calls for file-based operations. I selected 100 files and did "copy/paste" and the time takes was identical to "duplicate files" and it's essentially identical to the same operation in the finder.
Although this is not a workflow that I use, I don't see anything inherently "wrong" with it.  Just another way to accomplish the same thing.

  • BPS limitation of 50 rows when doing Copy Paste in BPS BI 7.0 Layouts

    Hi,
Does anybody knows if the limitation of 50 rows when doing Copy Paste in Layouts still exist in BI 7.0 SEM-BPS ?
    Thanks!
    Pat.

    Patrice,
The limitation is this is how many records you could enter at a time. You can
always hit REFRESH and enter more records to save all of them at a time.If
you had changed your UPP_FRONT_SPREADS_DUMMIES setting to 150, try
inserting (copying) 160 records into your layout. For simplistic reasons you
could change the setting to 2 and verify if you could enter 3 records without
hitting SAVE or REFRESH.I would recommend sand-box for these activities.
         Hope this helps.
    Cheers

The issue should be fixed now. Sorry about that, another Apple snafu but at least a short one.

Creating a new user account is not necessary linked to the physical existence of an other user. It's helpful when we want to work different ways. It's also useful to help to solve problems like yours.
If an app behave wrongly in account A and behave flawlessly in account B, we know that we may limit the range of files in which something is wrong to the account ones.
As you can't give us the info, we must guess.
So guessing that the problem is in your account, I will say :
    Quit/Close Pages
move Pages preferences file to the Desktop
    The file's path is :
    <startupVolume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Pages.pl ist
CAUTION: to reach it under Lion, you must press the option key while triggering the Finder's menu [ Go ] to get the menu item "Library.
    Restart Pages
If it behave well, the 'old' prefs file was corrupted.
The odd behavior may be linked to a problem with fonts.
Run : FontBook to scan your fonts to get rid of corrupted or conflicting fonts.
Get the free maintenance tool MAINTENANCE from :
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/download.php
CAUTION : take care to download the version dedicated to your system.
Run it with the settings displayed below:

  • Safari limitations... Arabic, copy & paste, AJAX.

Just bought the iPhone-- love it. However, I've noticed some limitations and perhaps you can shed some light on the situation.
    1. No Arabic support! I take Arabic and thought the iPhone would be a great learning tool; however, too my surprise, it doesn't support Arabic. Is there any plug-in for this?
    2. No copy & paste...
    3. I'll use a specific example: BBC. The new front page doesn't seem to work with the iPhone. For example, you can't move around the AJAX blocks. Also, a lot of the video on the website doesn't work. When will the iPhone have support for more video formats?

There are quite a few languages which the iPhone as provided by Apple does not yet support, including Arabic, Hebrew, Vietnamese, Thai, Hindi, Tamil, Tibetan. I've not seen any hacks for Arabic, but someone else may know of one.

  • Cannot copy/paste from email

I cannot copy/paste info contained in email. Elsewhere my browser works fine

Thanks guigs2 and cor-el. I used keyboard shortcuts.
It's not related to a specific site. The issue is general.
I've not used Firefox in safe mode, and unfortunately, don't know what it is.
What's puzzling is that this only started recently, never was an issue before, and is not fixed with the update. Perhaps it's related to the webmail programme I used that's provided by my website host. The programme is Horde.
(BTW, the copy, paste problem does not seem to occur in Chrome.)
I recently installed an add-on to Firefox for copying. It mostly works.

  • Registration Applications - Emai and Repeat Email - Disable Copy&Paste

    Hi,
The standard behavior of Emai and Repeat Email field of Registration Applications allows Copy&Paste.
I would expect to have standard behavior to not allow Copy&Paste otherwise 'Repeat' don't make sense. May i know the reason behind standard behavior Copy&Paste options for the Email fields?
Can I disable Copy&Paste of the Email field by enhancement, if yes, how?

  • How can I copy, paste, and email a web site page?

Hello.  Basic Safari question: How can I Copy, then paste, web site content from Safari, into a document (ie. Powerpoint Presentation)?  I am interested in copying / pasting so that the content in the document looks (formatted) identical to the content on the web site?
    Thanks!
    KD
    ps.  R.I.P. S.J.

This one kills me as well - editing phone numbers in the keypad/dialer is a pretty basic function, I could never fathom why it didn't exist.  We need to be able to place a cursor, and copy/paste part-numbers!  I'm constantly trying to paste just an area code, or an extension, or insert the country code, and I should not need to create a new number in the contact directory to do it!
Currently I do the copy/paste editing in Notes, and then paste the corrected number into the dialer - pointless and inefficient, and contrary to the Apple philosophy of making the user experience easy and seamless...
