Bridge Freezing after Caching Photo Shoots - Says Running Low on Disk Space & To Purge Cache

Hello,
I'm working in  Bridge CS5 on a Mac 0S X version 10.9.2. I have 12 GB of RAM and the server has 240 TB capacity, 76.69 available.
Recently I've received the following error message while processing large photo shoots with both DNG and JPEG files: Bridge is running low on memory. It is recommended that Bridge is restarted.
I have also been manually caching large photo shoots and my cache preferences were set to Keep 100% Preview In Cache and Automatically Export Cache To Folder When Possible. My cache size was set to 500,000.  Yesterday, Bridge started to freeze while attempting to open folders. The wheel would spin at the bottom with the message Compiling Criteria. The only way to close Bridge was a Force Quit. This happened several times.
Today, image thumbnails will no longer display, only the DNG/JPEG icons. I received the following error message:
I have tried restarting Bridge while holding the alt/Option key to reset the preferences and checking all three boxes - no luck. I have done the same thing with the boxes unchecked - no luck.  I have tried manually purging the cache from its location in the library - no luck. I have tried resetting the cache preferences from the toolbar - no luck. I have tried deleting the cache files from the folders - nothing. happens, I have tried purging the cache for each folder from the tool bar - nothing happens.
I need to restore the thumbnails and rebuild the cache for each folder. Does anybody have an idea what is wrong or how to help?
Many Thanks!

Connect the iPod to your computer. Click on the iPod under Devices and iTunes. How large is the "other" category as shown in the colored bargraph? If larger than about 3/4 GB, restore the iPod. That large of "other" indicates corrupted files.

  • InDesign is running low on disk space error

Has anyone come across an error message that pops up in IDD CS5 that informs you "Adobe InDesign is running low on disk space. Please delete unnecessary files to free up more disk space, and then restart InDesign"?

  • Running low on disk space...

My G4 main hard drive is down to a few GB. I have plenty of space on another internal and several external drives. I noticed my Library is about 37 GB. Are there any files (besides what is in the App folder)that can be moved or deleted to make more space on my main hard drive?
Thanks advance to anyone that can help with this,
    Craig

    Hi Craig!
Insufficient available space, can cause performance issues, system corruption, and possible loss of data.
Depending on Mac system usage habits, it is a general recommendation, to keep 10% to as much as 20%, of the Total capacity, available at all times.
Review the suggestions, in the documents that I have linked to below.
    Authored by Dr Smoke:

Is the Mac shutdown overnight, or does it run 24/7?
Have you ever run any routine Maintenance procedures?
If you turn the PowerBook off nightly, the Background Maintenance Tasks, are never run.
These can also be run, using a Third-Party utility, or manually using Terminal, to run the CRON Commands.
    I use MacJanitor, when necessary.
INSTRUCTIONS TO RUN CRON MANUAL COMMANDS
    Quit all applications/programs.
Navigate to HD > Applications > Utilities.
Double click on Terminal, to open.
    At the prompt, type:
    sudo periodic daily
    Press Return.
Enter your Admin password when prompted, then press Return.
This will execute the daily script that is sheduled to run every night.
When completed, repeat this procedure, but change the command to:
    sudo periodic weekly
This one rebuilds a database or two, and usually takes somewhat longer to complete. It is scheduled to run once a week.
    Repeat again, with command:
    sudo periodic monthly
Or they can all be run in one pass, which is preferable, with this command:
    sudo periodic daily weekly monthly
When the tasks complete, and return to the prompt, you may quit Terminal.
Restart the Mac, and run Repair Permissions.
TO REPAIR PERMISSIONS ON THE STARTUP DISK
1.Open Disk Utility, located in Applications/Utilities, and select the startup disk in the left column.
    2.Click First Aid.
3.Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions or Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions. (I never "Verify". Just run "Repair".)
When "Repair Permissions" is complete. Quit "Disk Utility".

  • MacBook running low on disk space

I have a 2008 MacBook 13" and have a ton of photos, movies, songs, etc. saved directly to the laptop.  I am starting to run out od hard drive space but the laptop is still in good working order.  Is there a way to transfer all of this to an external hard drive to free up space on the computer?

Your welcome also when you're replying please click "Reply" in the post you are replying to, that way we can tell who your communication is directed to.
Finally if you would like some suggestions on high quality EHD's I'd recommend any of the following:
G-Tech G-DRIVE series, OWC Mercury Elite Pro series or LaCie d2 Quadra series.
Personally I use the LaCie's (I've got 4 total) however OWC and G-Tech would also be more than welcome on my desk.

  • Exchange 2010 running low on disk space

Hi, I have a Exchange Server 2010 and its only got around 950MB free on it. I have asked users to delete items and i have personally archived mail by moving it into data files that are not stored in the database. In total I have moved around 15GB and the
mailbox database is still the same size?? I can see the mail backing up in the queues and am getting the 431 4.3.1 mailbox disk is full error message. Can anyone provide any suggestions? I have cleared as much space as I can. thanks

Exchange doesn't decrease the size of edb file itself eventhough you do house keeping in mailboxes. It will just mark that space in the database as white space and will utilize it when new data comes in...
Do you have any other drive with the space? To decrease the size you need to run the offline defragmentation but for that also you need to have 110% of space but that can be another drive on the same server or it could be network path. Also you need to dismount
the database during this operation. Check more details about offline defrag in below article on how to perform it...
How to Defrag an Exchange 2010 Mailbox Database
Also do you have indexing enabled for the database? If so, you can disable it and delete the indexing database (located with GUID folder name where your database is located) that would give you some room on the drive depending on size of the indexing database.

  • Running out of disk space error even tho I have 200GB free!!

    Dear users,
I have a huge problem. I have dowloaded an application from the AppStore named "Virtual City" and once I try to play the game it crashes saying "Running out of disk space" even tho I have more than 200GB free on my hard disk.
I am using a MacBook Pro Mid April 2010 with Lion latest version.
    What could be the problem??
    Thanks in advance.
    A.

Did you try to reset your phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?
Do you have an "other" section on your phone, bigger than 1GB? If yes, try to restore the phone to bring it back to normal size, it might contain corrupt data from an unsuccessful sync.

  • IPhoto freezes after 46 photos exported

I Photo freezes after 46 photos.  I have tried by eliminating photos and moving them around but it still freezes.  I am trying to export an album of photos to burn to a  CD and it just won't work.
It exports the first 46 then tells me it cannot export the photo which would be 47.  But that should not be the case, since #47 is not the same photo when i go back after moving them around and deleting some.

Where are you exporting to and how much free space do you have on your boot drive.  A test you can run is to  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import more than 47 photos  and check to see if the same problem persists.
If it doesn't then the problem lies with your current library.
If it does then it could be an application issue, user account issue or system issue.
    Report back with the results.

  • I keep getting a Warning that I'm running out of disk space. Even after I deleted all of my photos and e-mail I still show 0 available. Please help!

I keep getting a Warning that I'm running out of disk space. Even after I deleted all of my photos and e-mail I still show 0 available space. Please help!

Correct KiltedTim the iPhone does not have a disk drive, and it does give an error message about running out of disk space. I'm here searching for how to clear it and/or what causes it. A friends 8gb iphone 3G has started giving her that message. It is not jailbroken, has no videos, 400 songs, 20 apps. The system information says there is 0 bytes free. There is 4.6 Gb of "other" data taking up the remaining free space. None of the few apps on the phone I expect would take up that much space with data. Even her emails and saved text messages shouldn't fill 4GB. New iPhone coming in the next couple of days. Easiest to just reset the old one after the upgrade and redownload the apps to make sure not to mess things up.

My imac 17" core duo 1.8ghz A1173 freezes after about 1 minute of running. I re-start the imac about a half a dozen times and it stays running and will re-start from the sleep mode and will continue to operate properly until I put it in sleep mode or it goes to sleep mode. If I turn it off, I must go through the same hassle. Advise/suggestions. Thanks.

How much space is your Other using? You may be able to reduce.
How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • Recovery after running out of disk space

Last night I finished creating my first iWeb site. I published, waited for a couple hours, and it uploaded everything fine. Then I decided I wanted to put a password on the site. So I added a password in iWeb and hit publish again. It worked for a while, and then apparently my computer started running extremely low on disk space; Finder didn't warn me of anything (oddly enough) but but iTunes and iWeb simultaneously warned me about having no disk space. So I quickly quit all open apps except for iWeb, which freed up a little bit, then quit iWeb and rebooted.
Now after rebooting, I try to relaunch iWeb and it gives me a warning panel saying "The document "Domain.sites" could not be opened.", then another saying "Can't open file "~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites."" After that iWeb is running, but there is no main window and I can't create anything at all.
I can rename or move Domain.sites and then iWeb will start up from scratch, but I'd really like to have my editable iWeb document back! I looked inside the Domain.sites bundle, and the contents look comparable to the contents of a new empty Domain.sites bundle; I can't really see anything that's obviously missing. The only files in there that have modification times around the time of the trouble are assets.jacknutting.plist and index.xml.gz (and trying to examine index.xml.gz, I find that gunzip tells me "index.xml.gz: invalid compressed data--crc error", so I guess I'm hosed)
So, I guess I have three questions:
1: Is there any way I can recover this Domain.sites bundle, or should I just call it a lost cause?
2: If I start from scratch with a new Domain.sites bundle, when I create new sites and publish them to the same .mac account, will that wipe out what I've already put up there?
3: Assuming I can't recover my Domain.sites bundle, is there any way I can add a username/password requirement to the site I've already published to .mac, e.g. adding a particular file via my iDisk?
    TIA,
    //jack

    Jack...
"I looked inside the Domain.sites bundle, and the contents look comparable to the contents of a new empty Domain.sites bundle; I can't really see anything that's obviously missing."
    - if you've looked inside the old domain file and don't see and recognize files from the site you created, then yeah, your hosed. Just make sure you're looking inside the old file, and comparing it to the new.
1: Is there any way I can recover this Domain.sites bundle, or should I just call it a lost cause?
    - if it's as you say.. it's a lost cause.
2: If I start from scratch with a new Domain.sites bundle, when I create new sites and publish them to the same .mac account, will that wipe out what I've already put up there?
    - it will if you name the site exactly the same as the old site.
3: Assuming I can't recover my Domain.sites bundle, is there any way I can add a username/password requirement to the site I've already published to .mac, e.g. adding a particular file via my iDisk?
    - nope.
Your best bet is to recreate the old site by cutting and pasting the files from your idisk into a new templet in iWeb. I will take you a couple of hours, not as long as you think.
Just remember that after you save your site in iWeb, that before you publish or do anything else... back up that domain file. When you lose that file you're toast.
Sorry, wish I had better news.

  • Can I move cache to external hard drive to save disk space for photoshop and bridge?

Can I move cache to external hard drive to save disk space for photoshop and bridge?

So could I take everything off my external hard drive, save it to my Mac, then re-format it for my Mac and move everything back to the external hard drive?
Yes. Keep in mind that you need to back up all data, including the data on an external drive. So if you're going to use the external drive to store original data, as opposed to backups, then you really need another one to back up the first one. You also need to back up the data on your internal drive, of course. This isn't optional. You must do it, or you'll lose everything sooner or later. All disk drives fail eventually, often with no warning.
If I do that how do I format the external hard drive for my Mac?
Launch the Disk Utility application and search the built-in help for "erase."
Would it be easier to just buy a external hard drive that is for a Mac?
All external hard drives work with Macs. Some might come pre-formatted for use with Macs, but it only takes a few minutes to do that yourself.
