Bridge Help Please

Question

Hello all,
I've been playing with the activeX bridge for a bit now, working off of several of the tutorials that I've found on this forum.
Here is my problem, I create a simple bean (the Person bean from the previous big thread) compile it, jar it with a manifest file, run the packager, register it with the registry.
Everything works great, then I open up the Microsoft ActiveX Control Pad to test it, I can add it, mess with the properties, but as soon as I close it. Bang the control pad crashes. Am I doing something wrong? Can ActiveX Beans only be dynamically allocated?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

a couple of things...
1) because i'm an idiot the original code i posted for the Person bean is incorrect... it should look like the following.

  public void setFirstName(String firstName){
    fName = firstName; 
  public void setLastName(String lastName){
    lName = lastName;

    return fName+" "+lName; 
}the two things that are different are one, the bean implements Serializable which is it is supposed to do to be a JavaBean anyway and two, there is a workaround for a memory bug that essentialy means that the originally invoked class that makes up the bean should extend a GUI component preferably on that has a dispose method (one that extends java.awt.Window)

2) your problem. i suspect it may have something to with the first part. the bad news is i used to have the Active X Control Container but i re-installed and i can't find my vs cds right at the moment so i can't test what you are testing for now. the so-so news is i rememeber using the container and i don't remember any problems once i actually got it working. the good news is a took the above revised code and actually tested it this time and i tested it in word and it all works fine and no crashes on shutdown.
