Bridge in PS Elements?

Photoshop has a bridge where you an click on an icon and it takes you right to the picture that you just adjusted. Does PS elements 10 something like it?

Sort of.
Bridge is a file browser, like Windows Explorer.
PSE has the Organizer, which is a database application used to create a catalog of your photos.  You first have to "import" the photos into Organizer.  That stores the location information of your photos in the catalog (database).  Then you can tag photos, search for photos with specific tags, etc.

That depends on what you mean. If you mean, if you have a previous version of PSE that came with bridge, can you use it with PSE 10, the answer is yes, sort of. You can send photos to PSE 10 with no problem, but you can't call up bridge from within PSE 10, and you won't be able to update the bridge version of the raw converter beyond when adobe cut off updates for CS4, or see thumbnails for photos from camera models newer than that, even ones you can open directly into the PSE 10 editor with no problems.

  • Using Adobe Bridge with Photoshop Elements

I have an iMAC with iLife 08.
I take photos in RAW format with a Nikon camera.
I have been editing photos this way:
After uploading photos to iPhoto, export them as jpg to a new folder on the desktop, external HD or wherever. I open Photoshop Elements, edit the exported photo.
Then I'm stuck with my edits outside of iPhoto, unless I then import them back into iPhoto. It works, but it's cumbersome.
Today I thought I'd try a different route. I opened Photoshop Elements, and tried to use Bridge to browse photos. I can find the iPhoto library easy enough, but if I click on it, it opens iPhoto, and I'm stuck - can't open the photos in Photoshop.
I am hoping that if I do it correctly, I can save my edits directly back into iPhoto.
    Any ideas?

Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How can I integrate metadata and keywords in Lightroom with those in Photoshop, Bridge, and Photoshop Elements? In other words, is there a way to retrieve common metadata templates from all modules? Thanks!

Keyword and Metadata Integration throughout Adobe Modules

    Thanks! That's helpful.
What I mean by "common metadata", is a unified, updated, most current metadata, which I could update in each program. That is without overwriting the metadata, but appending new keywords to the metadata I created in the previous program.
I use Bridge, then Lightroom and finally Photoshop. That's the regular workflow: Bridge for preliminary sorting and and adding some keywords; Lightroom for organizing and picking the best images; finally, Photoshop for processing. I got Photoshop Elements on trial. Doesn't work for my purposes.
I need to share and update the metadata / keywords when I go from one program into another. Can't retrieve metadata I set up in Bridge into Lightroom. Same happens with Photoshop, where I can't retrieve keywords I add in Lightroom. It's tedious to write up the keywords again.
    Thanks for your efforts!

  • Bridge or Photoshop Elements?

    Greetings,
I just bought Dreamweaver CS4. I've already been using Photoshop Elements 6 to manage my photos, so is there any benefit to using Bridge, in addition to Photoshop Elements?
    Thanks,
    Shane.

Bridge is a assets manager for the Creative Suite and Creative Cloud which includes Photoshop, but not Photoshop Elements. It's bundled with CS applications, but with CC, it's a separate download.

  • Bridge in Photoshop Elements 6

I have just brought a Canon 450d and discovered that I could not open the raw files with CS2 and that there was no available plug in. So I uninstalled CS2 and installed Photoshop Elements 6 and Lighthouse. I downloaded the new Raw Plug In for the camera and placed it in two places.
    HD/Applications/Adobe Photoshop/Plugin/File Format/Camera Raw Plug In
    and
    Library/Applications/Adobe/ Plug in /CS3 /File Formats/Camera Raw Plug In
I can see the images in Lightroom I can open the images in Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 but I cannot open them in Bridge.
    Please can anyone help?

You either have to upgrade to CS3 for the ACR version that supports your camera, switch to Lightroom (that has the same ACR engine as CS3 or use the DNG route, download the (free) latest DNG converter and convert your raw files to dng, this can be opened in the ACR version CS2 uses. However you will miss some great features in ACR CS2 like fill light and recovery as well as clarity and vibrance that are in the CS3 edition.

  • Can I use Bridge with PS Elements and not install Organizer?

Can I omit installing the Organizer on Photoshop Elements and use Bridge instead?  I would like to upgrade my Elements 8 for Mac, but don't want to use Organizer that's part of newer Mac versions.  If I don't install Organizer, then I won't accidently catalog my files -- I like bare-bones Bridge for organizing.  Thanks for any feedback.  -- Robert

PSE will recognize standard EXIF/ IPTC and XMP data, but anything more specific liek face recognition would depend on the Organzizer and its catalogues. If you don't need that or any otehr of the specific features, then using Bridge should do the trick...

  • Making bridge open in elements 6 automatically

When I select an image in Bridge it is opening with preview instead of Photoshop Elements 6.
I want to make the images open in Elements 6 automatically.
How do I do this ?

my computer is a mac and the os is osx10.6.8
So you mean having Bridge that came with PSE 6
This is a bit tricky because we are used to the Photoshop edition and I don't know if it acts the same because I believe Bridge PSE was a bit more limited then the real deal :-).
However, like station two already stated, you need to set the file type associations.
First try Bridge / preferences and see if you have a section called File Type Associations. Then find the file type you want to open in PSE and from the button menu right choose the wanted application.
If not possible use the Finder itself for this.
Select a file you want to open in PSE, then use the Get Info command ( cmd + i) and inhere you also have the option to choose what default application to open it with.
Include the apply to all option and you should be OK.

  • Bridge Extension for Elements 6.0?

I used to have Elements 5.0 and when I double-clicked a photo in Bridge, it'd open in Camera Raw in Elements.
But now I've upgraded (lol) to Elements 6.0 and when I double-click a photo, it asks if I want to open in Windows Viewer/Gallery/whatever. I noticed that when I go into Manage Extensions in Bridge, there is an extension for Fireworks, but no longer one for Elements.
I've tried to search for how to add one, but it either expects me to already know, or takes me round and round in circles.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks for any advice you have!

When we click on any image  in Bridge usually that image  is opened in Adobe Photoshop .There is no communication between Elements and Bridge. Can you explain the scenario in more detail?

  • Import iPhoto library into Bridge (in mac Elements )

Hi, I am looking for a way to bring my iPhoto library into Elements 8 for Mac so that I can browse them in Bridge. The only way I saw to do that here in this forum is 'in PSE 8.0 File>Open. From the side panel of the "Open" window, select Photos under Media. Now from the menu that appears, select iPhoto. Now select the photos you want to import and click Open. Your selection will open up in PSE 8.0.'
I don't really want them in Elements, I want to browse my photos in Bridge. Do I really need to first import them into Elements?
Thanks in advance for any help in this.
    Firislander

Hi ... You could consider downloading the Automator services to efficiently browse through the iphoto library from within any application.
    Here's the link : http://www.macosxautomation.com/services/download/index.html
    and download media picker services.
Once done: While in Bridge goto Finder>Services> and choose one of the options to browse the iphoto library.

  • Bridge Vs. Photoshop Elements 5.0 Organizer

I posted something similar in the PSE forum without any feedback.
I've used PSE for a while through many versions and have many pictures in the catalog. However I really mostly use the version sets and stacks. A few notes here and there but nothing extensive regarding grouping photos, locations, etc.
I am now moving to CS3 and of course Bridge. I have demo'd it and also read what I can regarding this issue. I understand that importing catalogs into Bridge can be problematic. Although the problems seem less with PSE5??
Anyway, the catalog database is always finicky for me. I always back up the relevant folders because sometime over a span of 3 to 4 months during heavy editing sessions, with it open, it will get confused, corrupted, whatever. And I need to bring back the catalog folders. (Not a restore of all the pix, just the database folders).
It looks like the Bridge database is more robust. And I *know* it is not meant to be a replacement for the PSE organizer. I guess the question is, if I only use the stacks, version sets, and a few notes, for my use, could it be a replacement for my needs???
I just don't like that feeling of not being confident in the catalog database. I know I can send pictures from the PSE catalog to either PSE or Bridge with a few keyboard shortcuts. Although I think I read that if I change the filename or something in CS3 that the PSE catalog will not "remember it" in the version set. They could have integrated these better??? OR at least allowed a more bulletproof import feature.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Maureen,
    I feel your pain! :)
Yes I have seen that option of writing info to the image metadata. However I don't think it allows you to maintain version stacks and other stacks. Those are also huge to me. I have a similar number of images in a catalog.
One thing you need to be aware of is that when you tell PSE to write that metadata to the image, it changes the system file date (last modified date) of that image. That is a huge negative to me. Although I understand you can still see the image "picture taken date" in the metadata, I use backup software that keys off of the system file date to determine what images need to be synced. I guess I could do it in one big migration....but then, I am not sure I am so confident or happy about having PSE writing data to 1,000's of my original images!!! I mean that catalog is known to get corrupted once in a while! I also like seeing the system file date in windows explorer when browsing images outside of the organizer and knowing those are the dates I put them on my system. If I write all of the tags, all the "last modified" dates will be the date the tags are written.
I really find it very perplexing that does not provide a bullet-proof upgrade path from the PSE organizer to Lightroom and/or Bridge.
How silly is it to pay the prices required to obtain CS3 or CS4, and perhaps Lightroom, and then having to go get the current version of PSE just to maintain a catalog!!
Hopefully a patch or utility will be forthcoming to allow a migration that works. The thought of having to re-stack and re-edit notes for all of my images is not even in the realm of possibility....

  • Bridge to photoshop elements 6

Hello, did and uninstall and reinstall of 6 as I was having it crash upon closing - now instead of opening up PS6 from bridge, bridge opens preview.  Now if I  go from PS6 to bridge things work as they should - I have done a reinstall/repair of PS6. Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, m2

You can set bridge to open *any* program, not just PSE. Go to Bridge>Preferences>File Type associations and set PSE as the default for the image types you want to open in PSE.

  • How to upload a web photo gallery made in Bridge or Elements

Hi, I am a beginner with Dreamweaver, and I am only trying to
set up a simple page. The index page works fine, and also to have
other pages linked to the index page. But I have made a web photo
gallery in both Bridge/Photoshop and Elements 6, but I can not get
them into Dreamweaver!!! Can anyone please, please help me?! How do
I actually insert the web photo gallery into one of my
    pages???

Hi, I too, am a beginner and I'm trying to create a simple
website and want to include a photo gallery as well. I just
discovered the "Create a Web Photo Gallery" in Photoshop CS3 and I
was just wondering the same thing. How do you get it in into
Dreamweaver and into your site? I hope someone answers this
    question.

  • Element's 6.0's Bridge doesn't open anymore - says application "unexpectedly quit"

Hello.  I purchased my MacBook Pro in late September, and purchased and installed Elements 6.0 for Mac.
Elements and Bridge were both working fine until late October, when one evening its Bridge CS3 application suddenly froze, so I had to force-quit it, and now every time I try to open Bridge I instead get this message:
"The application Bridge CS3 has unexpectedly quit."
I posted this question in the Elements forum, where I was advised to launch the updater from PSE Help Menu -> Updates, which I did, getting the message that there were "no updates available."
I was also advised to reset my Adobe Bridge preference files (by pressing and holding in the Option key as I launched Bridge), which I did but that didn't work either.  I still get the same error message whenever I try to open Bridge, which I have been unable to open since October.
I was further advised to ask in this forum, to see if anyone could help me trying to solve this problem.
I will appreciate some advice on this.  Thanks.

As I'm not familiar with Bridge version for elements it might have the same
places were it stores cache and plist file.
First try to delete the Bridge list file (user/library/preference) and in
here find adobeBridge plist file and drag this to the trash. (it will renew
itself with a fresh new file after restarting Bridge).
Restart Bridge holding down option and try again.
If not then close ridge again and in same user library but now cache folder
find the cache folder for Bridge (can be a very large file when having used
much files). (user/library/caches/Adobe/BridgeCS3 and inhere place the
cachefile outside the library (or drag it to the trash)
With this action you will need to recache all your previous cached files but
together with plist file and refresh prefs you have an almost new install
    for Bridge.
Bridge CS3 is not the best version for bridge to say the least, I often used
this method (once every 5 or 6 weeks) because it had very much issues which
I solved with those actions. CS4 is more stable and faster, but you need to
upgrade and that is not for free...
I was further advised to ask in this forum, to see if anyone could help me
    trying to solve this problem.
I will appreciate some advice on this.  Thanks.
