Bridge "insufficient disk space" on Mac OSX with shared folder Users

Any update to the problem with having a shared folder named users?

Anybody have any ideas?
Not many here now about network set ups. Bridge is not designed for use over a network and also officially not supported by Adobe.
Bridge also uses a user specific library for its cache data.

  • CS6 Bridge Insufficient disk space error when on the domain

We have a windows domain enviroment, and we run iMacs for the design team.  Using the newest Mac OS X we get the "Insufficient disk space to complete this opperation " error after loading images in Bridge and then try to change or saved them.  When we are not connected to the domain, we can modify and save them locally fine.  But once we log onto the Windows Domain (we have mapped drives using SMB links for storage) you can not use Bridge.  Is this a cashing issue with the mapped drives or is this something else.  I've only seen one other post on this and there was never a real fix.
They could use Brige fne on CS5 using the previous version of MacOS(in facct they still have to right now).  So i'm not sure if it is a Mac os issue or a windows/mac issue.  From what I understand the two macs (older laptop and newer laptop) are set up the same way with the mapped drives using the same Domain log in so the preferences are the same.
The new mac is loaded with an i7, and 16gb ram, and plenty of drive space so I know its not that.
    Thanks for any help

  • Insufficient disk space using server103linux32 on Mac OSX

I am trying to install Oracle Workshop for Weblogic 10.3 on Mac OSX using the Linux version of the application. After extracting and executing "java -jar installer.jar", the GUI installer opens and appears to run fine, but after the last dialog, I get the following error:
Insufficient disk space! The installer requires:
617MB for the BEA Home at /Users/cburleson/bea,
548MB for the product at /Users/cburleson/bea/tools/eclipse_pkgs/2.0...
867MB temporary work space at /Users/cburleson/Downloads/server103linux32
There is only 868MB available at /.
"df" command in my terminal shows that I have only used 60% capacity on my volume. I clearly have more than 868MB available. Does anybody know what the deal is or how to get around this?

jlarechiga, it does not work on my snow leopard system.
tried to install using : Erwin Morales' Blog

server103_generic.jar gives the similar error stating only 1MB free (even when you run : sudo java to start installer)

  • Adobe Bridge CS5, error when creating contact sheet "There is insufficient disk space..."

I am running Bridge CS5 for the first time and I receive this error when attempting to create a contact sheet. "There is insufficient disk space to complete this operation." The image files I am using are web optimized and very small. The error even occurs when attempting one small image. I have gone back to using Bridge CS4 and it works just fine. Any help?
    Thanks!

I think I narrowed this down to having a network volume mounted with a share name of "Users".  The strange thing is even you if unmount the volume you will still have problems.  However, if you avoid mounting the volume entirely (from boot) it will be OK.
The solution, it appears, is to rename the sharepoint to something other than "Users".  This worked for us.  I'm not sure if it matters whether the server is Windows or Mac OS.  In our case the sharepoint was an AFP volume on Mac OS.
We had other errors related to Bridge such as "unable to create folder" and the path in the message appeared to be /Users/currentUser/.....  which made no sense at all.  However, if Bridge was internally trying to use /Volumes/Users (the mounted sharepoint), it would not only not find "currentUser", but it would not have permissions to create that folder either.
So, another possible solution could be to grant file creation rights on the network volume "Users".  Another not-so-great idea.
    Hope that helps someone else!

  • Bridge CS6:  Output to Web or PDF - insufficient disk space..

I have recently installed the CS6 cloud version of Bridge, but now get this error when trying to produce (or refresh) a contact sheet using Output to Web or PDF - There is insufficient disk space to complete this operation
The error occurs no matter what the file size is, or if multiple of single files are selected - and as the sole application open. I'm running the application in OS X 10.8, with 8GB of RAM and 512MB of VRAM, so disk space doesn't seem to be the issue?
I've just installed the lastest Bridge update, but this has made no difference. Thanks for your feedback in advance..

I've found an old post which highlights a USERS folder conflict?
Without any significant knowledge about working over a network I do know Bridge uses a Cache file on a user related base. So it might be possible it confuses the two folders if you have both company and private network based on the same user name.
But as said, just a wild guess. If you need to work over a network try the blog from the Image Archivist, he also used to hang around here in the past:

  • Aperture: "Insufficient Disk Space" alert with 370 GB Free

    Hello,
Since I use aperture on Mountain Lion, it's unpossible to import big folders anymore.
The folders named "2012" is on my network and has 7 400 files (560 GB). I import it with option "In Their Current Location", so, it's no copy nor move. After checking, computer says : Insufficient Disk Space. Need 100 GB more". But HD is 370 GB free and pictures aren't copied/moved to my HD !!!
With snow leopard, I don't have this prob, but Aperture update are no more available for SL.
I work on a IMac with 4GB RAM and HD 500 GB with a Mac Server of 15 TB.
    Any suggestion ?

Aperture 3.4.3 on Mountain Lion 10.8.2

    Ernie,
    1) Aperture library is on the internal HD with 370 GB Free. FS is Mac OS Extended (Journaled). The linked picture stays on a Mac Network fileserver with afolder per year. I make test with folder 2011 and folder 2012
    2) With LR, I don't import library from aperture but I import picture from folder 2012. And it's fine. LR library stays on the same HD/same partition than Aperture one.
    3) If I remove big TIFF file (273 MB) from 2012, it's OK.
    4) If I try to import 100 big TIFF File it's NOK : "Insuffisant disk space..."
    5) If I try to import 10 big TIFF File it's OK to import but zoom 1:1 gives a little picture.

  • Erroneous "insufficient disk space" error with WaveStudio 7

This has been bugging me for over 2 years. I get the "Insufficient disk space" error with Vista x32 and x64 and now with Windows 7 x64 when I've edited a wav file and then try to save it. I have plenty of disk space.
I've searched till I'm blue in the face but cannot find an answer and am tired of the lame work-around. I know how to copy and paste the entire edited wav into another file and then save it. It's annoying, but it works. What gets me is why is this not fixed?
Running CTWave.exe as administrator does not work. Running in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode does not work.
I have been a faithful Creative Labs user for more years than I care to remember, but this one is shaking my faith. Is there anybody who can explain why this happens, or offer a fix?
Many thanks and keep on rockin',
    Dave

You may wish to try these steps in order to solve your issue:
    1. Make sure your computer has the latest Java runtime. To do this, just google search "Download Java", go to the first URL and download that free software. This step should solve most of the "insufficient disk space" problems.
    2. If step 1 failed to work, you can open "My computer", right click on the hard disk you were trying to write your files into. From the "File System" tab, check to see it's "NTFS" but not "FAT32".
    3. If the above two steps do not work, try creating a new partition from your primary hard disk. To do this, click "Start" -> then right click "My Computer" -> "Manage" -> "Disk Management" -> Make sure you shrink a new volume for at least 50 GB to 100 GB free disk space, again please have the NTFS file system. Once you successfully created this new partition, do a format then try writing your music files onto this Disk.
    4. I think the above 3 steps are able to solve your issue. However, there's a bug I found sometime back when Win 7 first released. You can try creating a "temp" folder in your primary system drive, writing any files in there should have no problem as long as disk space is sufficient.
    5. I certainly do not hope that error was caused by your anti-virus programme, but if all failed, you may want to consider temporarily disable your anti-virus software, and if everything works fine, you might want to switch to a new anti-virus programme.
    Cheers.

  • PXI-1031 Realtime no longer working with labview. "Insufficient disk space to perform backup"

The realtime labview project was working until a couple weeks ago and the only error that is being shown on the PXI is this error message.
"NI Configuration Manager: Insufficient disk space to perform backup" Everything before that looks like it's starting up just fine. I recently removed the hard drive and deleted the 4gb network log file because it seemed that a 4gb file on a fat32 file system was probably causing the problem. After doing this the project worked when I tested it but others in my lab said that it was broken again the next day.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm not all that familiar with the equipment.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

In this situation, we actually want the PXI controller to be in safe mode. When the controller is reformatted, it will stay in safe mode until the proper software has been installed. Software installation is done from within safe mode, so being stuck there is a good thing.
The networking issues you’re seeing are independent of the controller being in safe mode. Most likely, the network settings were not retained during the reformatting, and your computer needs to reconnect with the device. First, make sure that your computer is set to obtain its IP address automatically. In Windows 7, this can be configured by going to the Network and Sharing Center and clicking on Change adapter settings. From there, right click on Local Area Connection and select Properties, then select Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) and click Properties. In this Window, make sure that Obtain an IP address automatically is selected.
Once this is configured, remove your PXI controller from the chassis and flip the IP reset switch to ON. Put the controller back in the chassis and connect the PXI directly to your computer via an Ethernet cable. When you turn your PXI chassis back on, the chassis and computer should find each other and configure themselves to be on the same subnet. From there, you can set your desired network settings and install the necessary software.
If this doesn’t work, the next step would be to check for any firewalls or antivirus that may be running. These could potentially interfere and block communication.

  • Insufficient Disk-space Error Installing WebLogic 1033_generic on Mac

How do I resolve this "Insufficient Disk-space Error" message I get while installing WLS1033? I thought I have more than enough disk-space on my system to handle just about any application software size out there. i mean, beside the 937.72 gigs of available disk-space on my system, I also have roughly 240 gigs external drive space. The system runs on 8 gigs of RAM. I know I am doing something wrong; just can't figure out what. I am new at WebLogic and so any help from the community is highly appreciated. Someone please help.

  • "Insufficient disk space for encoding" There is!!!!

    Hi,
I've got a problem that is really driving me crazy.
When ever I write an .img or even burn to disk, the following comes up:
"Insufficient disk space for encoding. Please free up disk space on your encoding target drive"
This is untrue. I have 6.95 GB left on my hard drive, plenty on my LaCie drives and enough on my DVD-R. I really don't know what the problem is. I've written DVDs with less than 6.95 GB before.
    Can anyone help?
    Many Thanks,
    Pete Cooke

That's not enough, when your hard drive gets about 80% full, then you may begin to see this issue. There is alot of files that are temporary, that also use disk space during the build process.
You really need alot more space than what you currently have left, (like 20GB) or more.
Look, I know that some here are on a shoe string budget, but the prices that ATA firewire drives are at now, there cheep. I just saw one on deal-mac.com, (250GB ATA, internal) for $80.00 and a 160GB for $40.00. You could replace your current firewire drive, for not much.
I know, you don't want to open the external firewire drive inclosure, that's ok, I also have a solution for that. It's a one time expense, but get a firewire bridge, like the one Wiebetech.com sells for $120.00 and from then on, you can just purchase raw internal HD's on sale as the need arises and plug those drives in via the 6pin firewire bridge from Wiebetech. This has saved me allot cash on purchasing the fire interface over and over, (as you have to do when purchasing an external firewire drive.)
I just move the Wiebetech drive dock firewire bridge from drive to drive as needed, I now have 4 of them. It also allows me to quickly archive off footage to an ATA drive quickly, as well as use that footage from that drive while authoring a DVD or FCP project.
I have looked at other solution like this, but this seems to be the lowest cost per GB & buck, ($.)

  • IPhoto 9.1.5 wrongly reports insufficient Disk space available

I just upgraded from iPhoto 8, (due to a magnified pic viewing issue and no rebuild option with OS 10.6 installed ... I fixed that with the upgrade, but...)
Am now experiencing an incorrect report of insufficient disk space when trying to copy pics from a Ricoh GRD camera into the iPhoto library. Meaning I cannot upload the JPEG files. I'm using an iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.66Ghz, 4GB Ram and OS 10.6.8 on board. All software updates have been applied. And before you ask there is 250Gb free on the disk and only a 2Gb memory card in the camera. I have already repaired the disk permissions and tried rebooting after the updates.
Any thoughts most welcome. Many thanks! Andy.

Finally fixed this issue by deleting the "originals" folder - which was damaged by the update process, and replacing it with the same folder from an 09 version  back up which I had in time machine... new files will now copy correcty and old files will open in the full size window.
Reading several support threads got me to check the contents of the "modified" folder, which had worked normally after the update to '11 - I just didn't realise it. Even files which have only been rotated are re-saved in the "modified" folder. When the library was updated these were copied over correctly. The "originals" were not.
Meantime, I've had an issue with the iMac 20" 2009 model crashing with graphics-intensive operations (Such as when running Minecraft, Google earth, Safari & etc). This took ages to figure out - it appears to be caused by an update to SnowLeopard 10.6.3 as many othes have experienced, and the issue is caused by the Nvidia graphics chip (Geforce 9400) drivers being incompatible with - or not included in - the OSX update.
It was solved for me by uploading the drivers needed directly from the Nvidia website, as I learned in another thread. You must first load the Nvidia "Cuda driver", and then the package of drivers "Nvidia retail Mac Driver 256.02.25f01" Open the package contents to get past the incompatibility warning dialogue box and run the install programs manually one at a time. A couple of restarts should then enable the drivers to operate. The system preferences pane will also be updated with a Cuda dialogue. As many 2009 iMacs will now be out of Apple care warranty this shouldn't be a problem - if you still have Apple care then this is not recommended and you should take the machine to Apple (who might replace the GP card with a later version). I understand these drivers may have to be re-loaded or replaced with updated versions as each new OSX release comes out, at least until Apple decides to include them again. I understand they are not yet available in the OSX 10.7 Lion upgrade... however Lion is supported by Nvidia. I don't want to suggest built in obsolesence - more likely this is an oversight by Apple. You can draw your own conclusions, but getting under the hood like this should really be the preserve of Microsoft enthusiasts IMHO.

  • Adobe Creative Suite 4 Error "Paused-Insufficient Disk Space!" Help!

    Hi guys,
I am downloading the Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection CS4 Trial Version and everything went well until the time I downloaded 4 GB out of 5.43 GB. The Akamai Download Manager said: "Paused - Insufficient Disk Space!" I don't know why this would happen. I restarted the Download Manager a couple of times, but they came up with the same error. I don't know what to do! I am installing it on an external hard drive, maybe thats the problem. On my Local Disk I have 9 GB left, so I turned to my external drive, which had 445 GB, but after downloading the 4 GB, has 440 GB left. Can anyone please help me? Attached is a pic of what the error looks like. All help would be highly appreciated.

  • CC apps install failed "insufficient disk space"

After a long battle I have finally got the Adobe Creative Cloud installer working on my Mac.
Now every time I try to install an application (doesn't matter which) it fails with this error message "Insufficient disk space. Clear space on untitled and try again. (-30)".
I don't need to read any more useless replies from people saying that the OS drive needs space and that 20GB isn't enough to install Photoshop. I have a 240GB Intel SSD installed and I have over 50GB free. This should be sufficient since I previously had CS6 installed.
The only somewhat useful log file I could find is ~/Library/Logs/AdobeDownload/DLM_Native.log, the error it gives out is: "startDownload: Failed to start the download. The DLE status is -1"
Can anyone lead me in the right direction to getting this working, otherwise it's pretty much a waste of money if I can't even use the products.
    -Andrew

So I found the solution, the developers of the Creative Cloud installer seem to store downloaded files in /private/tmp and mine was only 256MB in a RAM disk.
Since I have an SSD I followed some simple directions to move /tmp and /private/tmp to a RAM disk. After much more searching I found another post (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1235272) that had a solution for my problem.
So to fix the "insufficient disk space on untitled" issue I moved (or you can delete) /System/Library/StartupItems/RamFS to disable the RamFS script from running on startup (I had no luck with chmod 000).
The ultimate solution to fix this is to get the Adobe developers to change the program to store temporary software downloads in a proper location and not rely on /private/tmp (or on Windows probably c:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\temp). There should be an option in the preferences panel to select the temporary files location in case someone doesn't have space on the main disk (or c:\).
FYI this is the optimization page that recommened the RamFS: http://blog.alutam.com/2012/04/01/optimizing-macos-x-lion-for-ssd/
Hope this helps someone else out!

  • Insufficient disk space error during export

I've been exporting approximately 1,200 photograghs (975 MB) to a Desktop folder which I copy and then burn to a DVD for playback on a Windows PC without difficulty for the past several months. However, I'm now receiving an error message stating "insufficient disk space for that operation". What's happening? I receive the error even when attempting to export 50 photograghs (25 - 30 MB).

I have edited most of the JPEG files with PE4. Could this be causing the trouble?
Possibly. Check your Edit->Color Setting menu window and see if you've got color management turn one. Mine looks like this. If it's not set to manage then some of those files may not have a profile. To correct this you can either reedit each and save to embed the profile or, much easier, download the Automator application "Embed sRGB Profile" from Toad's Cellar, unzip and drag the original files that need it onto it. It will automatically embed the profile.
Were the files you tried to export the same as before or a new bunch? Had then been editied?
