Bridge IPTC Question

Greeting to all as I am new here and this looks  like a great forum.
I often use Bridge to add keywords to my photos for uploading to stock  photo sites.
Sometimes I have a photo where I have already added keywords and I am  adding another photo to the folder of the same genre where I would like  to copy the keywords, title, and description across from one photo to  another.
Short of going into the IPTC field by filed on a copy and paste method,  is there some way to simply just copy all the IPTC data from one photo  to another?
Cheers...

There is no simple way of doing this in Bridge unless a script is used (Sounds like a good project)
Or you could try using ExifTool by Phil Harvey.

  • Hard Drive, Bridge CS4 QUESTION

    Yesterday my Seagate 1 TB hard drive (fairly new) was acting strange in relationship to Bridge CS4.  Bridge was having problems reading the files from it and the light on the hard drive was dimming and brightening up in repetitive fashion.  I always back up, but just got back from Africa and have about 4000 images on that drive yet to be backed up, so this scares me.
    Strange thing is that when I go to the drive through Windows (XP) the drive acts fine and the images come up fine and they come up fine in PS too.  So this makes me wonder if this is an issue with Bridge.  I have had some Bridge issues in the past and have thought about re installing PS and Bridge.
    Question is: do you think the problem is with Bridge as apposed to the hard drive?
    Thank you.

    It could be due to the process of indexing the new files.
    Is your cache big enough? Have you purged it lately?

  • Switching From Windows To Mac: ACR Database, Bridge Cache Questions

    I am planning to switch from Windows XP to the Mac running Leopard. I am now running CS2 in Windows, but will upgrade to CS3 on the Mac. I am maintaining my RAW file settings in ACR central database and my Bridge cache in a centralized cache file. I've searched the forums but couldn't find answers to my migration questions:<br /><br />1. Can one move the ACR database file from Windows (in folder C:\Documents<br />and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\CameraRaw) to a folder<br />somewhere on the Mac to preserve the settings on RAW files that are also<br />moved to the Mac? Or does one need to export individual XMP files for the<br />RAW files in Windows and move both the RAW files and their associated XMP<br />files to the Mac?<br /><br />2. I have a similar question for migrating the Bridge cache from Windows XP<br />to the Mac. Can one somehow move the Bridge cache over (I think it's in<br />C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge\Cache\Thumbnails\) or do I need to export the cache for<br />each folder and subfolder and move them over along with the folders and<br />subfolders?<br /><br />I would appreciate any help or pointers to any Adobe documents or<br />directions. Thank you.

    Man-Kong,
    Since you said that you were also migrating from CS2 to CS3 I would have said that their cache files were incompatible. That is what I experienced with CS1, CS2, and CS3 in the past. But Thomas indicated it should work. I must be missing something.
    The XMP files move fine for me. The local cache (folder) files have completely different names with each version and I see no evidence that they can be shared. This is also a problem with archived CDs. CS3 always has to rebuild cache if they were archived from CS1 or CS2.
    Since the central cache must have some folder references, and this structure will be completely different on Mac, I dont see how it can work. It doesnt work for scripts or actions either.
    So my humble recommendation is to set your preferences to store cache and XMP files in the local folders where possible. Then simply bite the bullet. Each time you visit a folder for the first time in the new environment, cache will be rebuilt.
    Cheers, Rags :-)

  • IPTC field codes -- Bridge IPTC Core metadata

    Is there a reference somewhere as to which IPTC codes match up with the IPTC Core fields in Bridge metadata?
    A list of the codes is here, so you know what I'm talking about. For example, the Description field in Bridge metadata corresponds to the Caption / #120 code in this list:
    http://www.fotoware.com/binaries/fsp50/userguide/28.htm
    I'm using a plug-in that writes image info from a database into the corresponding file's IPTC fields based on the IPTC code, but the names of the fields on the list of codes don't match up with what they're called in Bridge, so it's taking a lot of trial and error to figure out where things go.

    Never mind, found one. It doesn't mention Bridge specifically, but it has Photoshop and Lightroom (along with several other image-browsing apps) and both seem similar to Bridge:

  • Bridge domain questions

    Hi everybody.
    At work , I have seen a lot of bridge domains configured on a single switch. My question is what is bridge domain and why we use them. An example with configurations will be great.
    Thanks and have a great day.

    Hi Marvin and Rick
    Please consider the following config and questions:
    R1#  show platform
    Interrupt Throttling:
      Throttle Count   = 00052552   Timer Count      = 00039372
      Netint usec      = 00000800   Netint Mask usec = 00000240
      Active           =        0   Configured       =        1
      Longest IRQ(usec)= 00003999
    MSFC CPU IDPROM:
    IDPROM image:
      (FRU is 'C7600 MSFC4 Daughterboard')
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    R1#show running-config interface gigabitEthernet 9/7
    service instance 1251 ethernet
      encapsulation dot1q 1251
      rewrite ingress tacg pop 1 symmetri
      bridge-domain 440
    service instance 2001 ethernet
      encapsulation dot1q 2001
      rewrite ingress tag pop 1 symmetric
      bridge-domain 440
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Let say R1 receives a packet with vlan tag 1251 on g9/7. What will happen next? will R1 update its MAc table with source mac?
    1)Will there be a mac table for bridge -domain 440?  Do we have one-to one correspondence between the two i.e each  bridge-domain has its own mac table.?
    2)Let say R1 receives a packet with vlan tag 1251 on g9/7. What will happen next? will R1 update its MAc table with source mac?
    3) Let say R1 receives a frame with vlan tag 1251 with destination mac ff:ff:ff:ff
    What will R1 do next?
    4)Will R1 forward it to all service instance in bridge-domain 440 except the one R1 receives the broadcast frame?
    ( in our case we have two service instances under  bridge -domain 440 i.e service instance 1251 ethernet,service instance  2001 ethernet)
    5) Will R1 change the vlan tag 1251 to 2001 when forwarding the broadcast frame out of instance 2001?
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks

  • Off Bridge Mode Question

    Trying to determine how my Airport Extreme went into off-bridge mode....noticed my A.E. was blinking the amber light...after determining it was not an update alert, I unplugged the box from the socket, and detached all wires from the back of it...replugged, greenlight eventually came back on, but could not get onto the internet....called the 1-800 Apple number....tech determined I was indeed in off-mode, we fixed it, I'm back onto to the internet...forgot to ask her if unplugging the unit was what made it go into off-bridge...don't want to call back....but will if commnity can't answer the question....that is he question...did unplugging the unit, reset it into off bridge mode, or did I manipulate it within the dialogue box, and inadvertantly did something to put into off-bridge? Thanks for any and all hlep

    Recycling power to the base station should NOT make any configuration changes. However, performing any of the potential resets can. The default mode of all of the Apple routers is NOT to be in bridge mode.

  • Apache - Weblogic bridge - tricky question...

    We have WLS 5.1 sp4 on Redhat 6.1 and Apache 1.3.12 on the same box.
    I also have Mass virtual hosting setup under Apache. Before, the Apache-WLS
    bridge was available, I used RewriteRule to proxy the requests:
    Apache:
    <VirtualHost 10.10.10.1:80>
    ServerName test.com
    ServerAlias *.test123.com www.test.com
    VirtualDocumentRoot /www/vhosts/%1.1/%1.2/%1
    DirectoryIndex index.html index.jsp
    <Files *.jsp*>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://www.test.com:7001/$1 [P]
    </Files>
    </VirtualHost>
    WLS:
    weblogic.properties: weblogic.httpd.documentRoot=public_html/
    I also had a link in the public_html directory called www->/www
    So, when a person connect to http://test1.test.com/shoppingcart.jsp, they
    are forwarded to WLS with the path
    /public_html/www/vhosts/test1/shoppingcart.jsp.
    However, if I want to use the Apache-WLS bridge:
    <VirtualHost 10.10.10.1:80>
    ServerName test.com
    ServerAlias *.test.com www.test.com
    VirtualDocumentRoot /www/vhosts/%1
    DirectoryIndex index.html index.jsp
    <Files *.jsp*>
    WeblogicHost localhost
    WebLogicPort 7001
    </Files>
    </VirtualHost>
    If a person connects to http://test1.test.com/shoppingcart.jsp, the path
    forwarded to WLS is /shoppingcart.jsp and it looks for the file in the
    public_html directory and it fails.
    I cannot use the "PathPrepend" directive as the path varies with the URL.
    Any ideas????

    You need mod_rewrite which is enabled for Apache on redhat by default.

  • 1300 bridges trunking question

    Hi all,
    I have two 1300 bridges connecting two buildings. Both buildings are using native vlan. I only have one SSID and native vlan on the birdges. There is a L3 switch connecting to the root bridge and L2 switch connecting to the non-root bridge.
    Right now, we are upgrading the network to support mutilple vlans. Do I need to make trunking on the bridges in order for the bridges to pass multiple vlans traffic? I already made trunking (802.1q) on both switches. But once I assign ports to access different vlan, I could not get dhcp address (except native vlan)if I am on the second building.
    Any suggestion/comment?
    thanks
    Gene

    Hey Gene,
    I had a similar setup and the only thing you need to care about pretty much is that the native vlan in your bridges is the one assigned to the SSID which it linking those 1300 together... All the rest of the vlans at your switch will pass through the wireless link effortlessly... :)
    Just try to be sure you are NOT restricting vlans at the switch port where you have your bridges connected.
    If you need any assistance please do not hesitate in contact me... :)

  • CS6 Bridge & .DNG questions

    Trying out CS6, Bridge doesn't open:
    File > Browse Bridge = cursor changes to hourglass but Bridge never opens;
    File > Browse in Mini Bridge = " waiting for CS6 Bridge..." message indefinitely;
    am I missing step?  ACR8.3 & TIF process all work AFAICT...
    I've read about CS2-CS6 conflict, what is latest on how to overcome?
    I shoot RX10 RAWs, Sony .ARW doesn't offer text fields.
    .DNG offers several, including Description field -- I want my RAWs captioned.
    (& am assuming .DNG field will transfer to TIF Description field upon conversion)
    But what, if anything, do I lose by converting .ARW to .DNG & keeping only .DNG...?
    (use of rather lousy Sony converter, I assume; what else?)

    > In Bridge, hover your mouse on the right of those truncated texts, the cursor will change to a double arrow that will let you expand the descriptions.
    Thanks!  Yes, I soon discovered that I needed to expand column rather than just window...

  • Bridge workspace question

    I used to be able to open up bridge, and my favorite saved, customized workspace would open up automatically. Now I have to manually go to window and choose my workspace, which doesn't take a long time, but is a pain to me.
    Does anyone know how to make my favorite saved workspace the default workspace adobe bridge opens up to? Thanks!

  • Bridge sdk question

    hi,
    i'd like to port an existing application to bridge. i briefly read the sdk docs but i'm not sure if the bridge sdk offers the opportunities i need:
    - can i change the size and position of images on the content pane?
    - can i handle mouse events in the content pane?
    - do i have read access to the content of images (the bitmap data)?
    best regards,
    sepp

    Hi Sepp,
    i'd like to rearrange the images on the content pane in a different
    than the normal order (based on image content) and i'd like to pan and
    zoom into this order by the mouse and the mousewheel...
    Oh, I think you can't do that. And even if you find a way to solve this, it will will we full of workarounds and may not be fluent.
    You can build custom views in the content pane via the new Collection Class in CS4 (or saved Queries in CS2,CS3). I'm not sure if you can edit the sort order directly in this class. Maybe you must du that by editing the metadata of a thumbnail and sort based on the edited field (=slow).
    Allthough you have access to the image content via the bitmapData Class I don't think that the javascript api is fast enough the perform a good image analysation. You don't have access to the pixel array, you must call getPixel and setPixel individually.
    Bridge provides a lot of Thumnail and window based events, but I don't think that the DOM gives you access to the mouse events, correct me if I'm wrong.
    Sorry, this may be bad news. But I may be wrong anyway, Bridge is full of surprises

  • IPTC Question

    I am missing IPTC info that I added during an import. Here is my workflow:
    1. Import NEF files and attach a metadata template with contact info.
    2. I can see the info in LR.
    3. If I bring up the file in Capture NX or Iview, the info is missing.
    Do I need to some type of operation to embedd the IPTC data in the NEF file so it stays with the file once I use it outside of LR (for example I want to do some adjustments in Capture NX then generate a jpg. I want the jpg to have the IPTC info).
    Thanks.
    David

    I just tried:
    file: metadata
    export metadat to file
    after selecting the file.
    then I open it in nx and iview and still don't see the contact info (creator, address, email...).
    Anything else I need to do?
    Also I just noticed that when I do a rename on import the file name in the folder does not change to the new name. How do I synchronize the changes in LR to the files?

  • E4200 bridge mode question

    So, with the latest firmware update I could add a second e4200 to my network to use as a bridge or access point?  What I need is another device in my living room that can pick up the wireless signal and dish out network connectivity to my receiver, xbox360, and ps3.  With the new firmware update can this be done with a second e4200?
     How does one connect to each e4200 on the network for setup (dohave to change the default ip address of 1?)
    I just bought a trendnet TEW-687GA 450 mb/s wireless gaming adapter and a trendnet 5 port switch to accomplish what I mentioned above.  I'm just wondering if there is an advantage to switching over to two e4200's.  The trendnet adapater does not have a 5ghz channel.
    Thanks!

    The bridge feature doesn't support wireless bridging. It just dumbs it down to a switch and AP. So unless you flash it with a 3rd part firmware such as dd-wrt, what you are trying to accomplish will be impossible.
    I've heard multiple people say that 3rd party firmware for this router is buggy so I would either go with the trendnet and switch setup or the 5ghz capable Linksys WES610n. The 5ghz is ideal for for gaming and streaming media because of less interference compared to the 2.4ghz band. You'll more than likely be able to bond channels with the 5ghz network so that = more bandwidth.
    I don't work for Cisco. I'm just here to help.

  • Can I use Bridge Flash Gallery in Dreamweaver

    LOVE Bridge's design for a photo gallery!  Is there a way that I can use that flash gallery as a gallery in a web design?  In otherwords, in a web design or as a link.  I have a main page designed in Dreamweaver and want to use the gallery created in Bridge as a means to view my artwork.  Is that possible.  I see that I can publish it, but how can I use as a link.  I thought this more a Bridge Forum question I hope...
    MANY THANKS in advance!!

    I appreciate all of your comments. I am also working throught this problem with my site www.jakgallery.com
    I used iFrame to incorporate but when uploaded it does not work. I contacted Adobe and suggested that many users are having similiar problems and that it seems like an issue they could address. They suggested I go to www.adobe.com/devnet and post my problem there and Adobe people would review this problem to find a fix.
    Just a suggestion. I think this is something that would be obvious to connect Bridge and Dreamweaver in an easier way. We'll see.
    Thanks, Mike

  • Bridge CS6 metadata palette not creating bag array

    I am having trouble getting a custom XML Bridge metadata palette to write bag arrays.
    What I want is:
    <dcterms:subject>
        <rdf:Bag>
           <rdf:li>term 1</rdf:li>
           <rdf:li>term 2</rdf:li>
           <rdf:li>term 3</rdf:li>
        </rdf:Bag>
    </dcterms:subject>
    The result I get is:
    <dcterms:subject>term 1; term 2; term 3</dcterms:subject>
    My code is:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xmp_definitions xmlns:ui="http://ns.adobe.com/xmp/fileinfo/ui/">
    <xmp_schema prefix="dcterms" namespace="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" label="$$$/Custom/Schema/dcterms/Label=Dublin Core Terms"/>
    <xmp_property prefix="dcterms" name="subject" label="$$$/Custom/Property/dcterms/Subject=Subject" category="external" type="bag" element_type="text"/>
    </xmp_schema>
    </xmp_definitions>
    This code works in CS4 and CS5.  I don't see any new requirements for XML panels in the CS6 XMP SDK, am I missing something? I also tried writing a simple dc:subject property, but it also failed to create a bag.  The CS6 Bridge IPTC Core palette works correctly, so I have to think this is a problem only for custom palettes.
    Thanks,
    Greg Reser

    Thanks Curt, but this is not a virus issue.  Think about it, how could the ntdll.dll file be virus infected and yet only impact the running of this single application?  That really wouldn't make sense now would it?  That library is critical to many windows function and if it were virus infected, I would have more things to worry about that trying to get Bridge to launch.
    I already did my homework on that before I posted here and tried some of the things suggested on verifying the integrity of my system files.  The Digital Signature Information shows to be okay.
    It could be that I upgraded this system from Windows XP Professional to Windows Vista Business and that I have an old (CS2) install that I did not remove from the computer.  I have done a variety of things to try and get to the root, but to no avail.  I am sure that if I were willing to start completely from scratch and do a clean install of the OS, I may be able to get it to work.  I don't really have time to do that however, and since I am not the only person who has had the issue with Bridge failing to start, I suspect the solution lies somewhere within the architecture of Bridge in CS6 that is at the root of my problem.
    I am hoping that someone from Adobe will finally figure it out and provide an update that works.
