Bridge Keyword Issue

I am trying to use Bridge to apply keywords to video clips. The video is quicktime format under the ProRes codec. I used bridge to batch rename a set of files from the same shoot. The keywords will apply to somewhere around 85% of the clips, but for 15% of them I get an error message stating "The file '(file name)' cannot store XMP metadata. No changes will occur." although I can't think of any actual difference between the clips it does and does not work on. Any ideas on why it does not work at times?

but for 15% of them I get an error message stating "The file '(file name)' cannot store XMP metadata. No changes will occur." although I can't think of any actual difference between the clips it does and does not work on. Any ideas on why it does not work at times?
No experience with video myself but if this happens to only a part of the same file type then it might be due to not waiting long enough before the task has finished.
Bridge is not good in multitasking yet and if you start applying keywords to a bunch with clicking on a view keywords to add - using checkmark or creating new keywords / sub keywords- you must stop adding new words once the activity bar starts running and wait for it to finish completely. If you do not wait and start another job a part of the earlier applied keywords will not be written to the files but the new task will take over the command.
And of course it might be related to some actions you applied earlier to the same files or if the are locked (or don't have read and write permissions).

  • Adobe Bridge Keyword issue

    I am using Photoshop CS4 along with the Adobe Bridge that downloaded with it. I installed the software on an iMac with Snow Leopard as the OS. Using the Bridge, I assigned keywords to about a thousand images in numerous folders. I used the Bridge with these keywords to search for my images and it worked just fine. Then I upgraded the OS to Lion and immediately had a significant issue with searching in Bridge. Each time I identified a keyword to search (in the Edit-Find menu), the results came back "no files found". It was by accident that I discovered that, in order for the Bridge to recognize they keywords, I had to double click and open the folder first in Bridge. Once the folder had been opend and then closed, the keywords were activated. Needless to say opening each and every folder containing images has been very time consuming.
    I am considering purchasing a new iMac this summer. It will probably have the new Mountain Lion OS in it and I will purchase CS6 to install in it. I am concerned that when I transfer all of my images into the new computer, I am going to have the same Bridge issue, and will have to go through this entire "open & close each folder in Bridge" exercise again in order to search by their keywords.
    Has anyone had this issue to deal with? If so, I sure would like to know how you dealt with it.

    I have exported my keyword list and saved it to my desktop.
    If that was the list of your old system you only have to use the option import keywords from the same menu used to export the list. This will add all your keywords from the old list to your new list. If you use clear and import the old ones will be replaced by the list of the imported keyword list (so if you are not sure also make a back up of the existing list before using 'clear and import'
    I also did a search of my entire computer and that file name does not show up.
    You probably use Spotlight for this and spotlight is not very good in finding files hidden in the library, try the free 'Easy Find'
    I use CS4 and the file in the path you provided is: Bridge CS4 Extensions. However, there does not appear to be a Keyword file in that folder.
    You are in the wrong library, the extensions are sited in the library on root level (the computer) and you have to be in the library in your user account.
    I overlooked the fact that you are on Lion and that has the user library hidden by default. Do a Google search to retrieve the user library, there are easy temporarily ways and a bit more difficult to make it visible permanent
    Once I go through an entire search with "include non-indexed files" checked, have all of the folders/files that have been searched through now been indexed? And does that mean that whenever I perform a search again, I no longer have to have that box checked?
    If you go to the Find menu and in the source field select your parent folder that contains all your subfolders the search will go through your entire image content.
    You only have to check non indexed files once but after the first search (takes long to index) the option is not taking that much time again so no objection to leave it on.

  • Bridge Keywords driving me nuts! Please help......

    I've been directed here by the good people at Elements Village as I have a Bridge specific question that you guys may be able to help with.
    I've been using Bridge (CS3, I think) with PSE V4 Mac for several years and have multiple and extensive keywords applied to all my tens of thousands of photos.
    I've upgraded to PSE V8 Mac with Bridge CS4. The PSE side of things is fine now. But my Bridge keywords are completely screwed up. With some technical help I've been able to copy my keyword tree from one version to the other. But the problem is that although Bridge is reading my existing keywords, it's throwing them up out of sync, in different parents and in multiples of each keyword. So whereas I had created "All Kids" child keyword under "People" parent in my old version, in the new version "All Kids" appears twice - once as a new parent and again as a child under "Activities", as well as under the original "People" parent. I can't delete the extras as this will remove the tags from all of these photos. I can't move into the "People" parent as there is already a category there and I although I can deselect the incorrect "All Kid" tags and only select the child keyword in the correct place, when I search again on this keyword, it chucks them all up again, with multiple "All Kids" checked. Furthermore, not all photos that I've tagged with All Kids have all three "All Kids" keywords selected, some only have one or t'other tagged.
    Obviously, I can make persistant one or both of the new "All Kids" keywords, but neither are in the correct place in my tree and neither will allow me to move them.
    This has happened with ALL my existing keywords - multiple copies, in multiple locations.
    I've tried resetting the Bridge preferences.
    I've tried going through them keyword by keyword and deselecting the new, out of place keyword and re-selecting the correct keyword - to no avail. When I search again, new out of place keywords are thrown up.
    I've tried going back to the new install basic keyword list and re building my keyword tree, but the minute I put in a search, out of place keywords are thrown up that I can't move into the correct parent.
    I've tried starting again with my keyword system - I imagine this will take months and months and there simply HAS to be an easier way to do this.
    I've read and re-read the online manual at Adobe and can find nothing that deals specifically with upgrading versions. As a fairly experienced Bridge user I'm aware of it's powers and am so disappointed that this is proving to be such as stumbling block. When I upgraded my Lightroom last year the move from one version to the next was totally seemless. And after minor teething trouble with the PSE side of things, that upgrade was also pretty straight forward, but this Bridge issue is really frustrating and I'm wondering whether to abandon this upgrade and go back to using Bridge CS3 (which is still installed and is saving my sanity work wise).
    So, please, PLEASE, does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this?
    Thanking you in advance.
    PS: I'm not super technical so need serious spoon feeding through this!

    Hi Will
    Okay, I think I get. That is -if and when- my KW's never come up
    again, I have Bridge on a goose chase for a (junk) word. Now when I
    place a word in Bridge search box, Bridge will use it's own quotation
    marks around your entry word and look for that.
    What I mean is, you are not using some kind of Bridge power search
    characters for this search that I might not be aware of.
    For example, junk, or NOT=junk, or /junk/
    One thing that is driving me a bit nutty right now is, after getting
    all my old KW's to display by clicking on the image file days ago,
    Bridge placed them all under the hierarchy of "Other Keywords",
    meaning my directory structure was lost and every kw ended up under
    this new heading.
      I went and built new category heading for my many KW's and then,
    click and moved these under the new headings and then made permanent
    all of these KW.
    My frustration is now, that Bridge does not respect the fact that I
    moved them to different location. That is they are made permanent in
    that new location. But when I relaunch Bridge, and my new KWs
    organization comes up, it all looks fine. Click on any picture and
    Bridge places the old KW in Italics that were listed under Other
    Keywords and throws them in Alphabetical order through out my list,
    as if the move is not respective. So I now have two key words for
    ever one KW wanted.
    I understand that if you take someone else folder and place it on
    your system and open an image that those key words might best be down
    under the heading Other Keywords or in italics, and that you would
    not want Bridge to automatically be messing with your own Key Words
    structure.
    But I moved these keywords, and bridge does not respect that having
    been made, and how I want those KW's displayed on my page. The KW
    list get vary long and confusing to look at with words out of place
    everywhere amongst my new list. Sometimes you get confused  which
    ones you are suppose to use when new images are brought in.
    it is a laborious frustrating process to clean those italic migrant
    keywords out to clean up the house so to speak.
    you have to find all presence of that kw
    select all those images,
    deselect them, sometimes reselect then so that you can deselect them
    to get them all
    then delete those italic KW
    then check the box so that all those images have only that KW under
    the heading you want permanent.
    My machine seems to manage these small word pieces of data
    exceedingly slow. So I may have to wait for a minute or longer  for
    the list to update.
    It seems this will take days. and the list could go "poof" again for
    all i know.
    Thanks again for your comments!

  • Bridge Keywording error

    I find that when I open Bridge to begin keywording, I get an error that prevents me from adding keywords to any images. It seems to go away only after time passes. Does anyone have an explanation for why this happens? I am keywording over a network, so is it just taking time to access the files through the network?
    Thanks,
    Evonne

    If you view this site you have probably seen I tend to answer a lot of the Bridge questions.  I get a number of questions on networks, but the users usually do not give any feedback.  Therefore, I am unsure if the answers work.
    So if you would be so kind, how do you have your network setup?  Do you have one computer that has the cache, and all other users also use that cache address?  That is what I have been let to believe, but no one has confirmed this.  I am network ignorant.
    With your problem, I suspect that the delaly is related to indexing the cache.  Does that sound correct?
    Have asked Adobe for input on Bridge network issues, but no success so far, so your input would be appreciated.

  • How do I import Bridge keywords and metadata to CS6 from CS4 so that I don't lose them if CS4 is not

    I have hundreds of keywords and metadata including Ratings and Labels using CS4 and Bridge CS4.
    It is time to replace my PPC Mac with a new Intel Mac.
    I am going to install CS6 on the new Intel Mac without installing CS4.
    By default.... this eliminates ALL keywords and ratings and labels from my Bridge browser. The keywords will still be present on the files but Not present in Bridge keywords list and all ratings and labels will be lost.
    Making a copy of Bridge CS4 metadata to another computer is quite simple.
    Simply copy All of the Bridge CS4 application support folder to the other computer.
    The question then becomes.... can I aslo do this with CS6 without introducing an incompatibility?
    1. incompatible due to CS6 application support.
    2. incompatible due to transfer from a PPC (APM) to Intel (GUID).
    This concern results from an Bridge CS4 export problem I experienced.
    Bridge CS4 will export all of your keywords and you can import them from a text file but it has some odd troubles. (try it and you will see)
    This does Not mean that CS6 has the same troubles.
    What do I require to preserve existing metedata and keywords that exist on a PPC using CS4 and import them into CS6 using Intel?
    Sound simple?
    I doubt it.
    The points are.
    1. CS4 not installed.
    2. CS4 source is PPC not Intel.
    3. Ratings and Labels are metadata that Are Not part of the file metadata and unique to Bridge only.
    4. Keyword Search and keyword Use requires that Bridge have keyword list, otherwise Finder is the far more useful browser and the new version of Bridge will require hours of keyword listing.
    I don't want to spends hours retyping keywords lists in Bridge.

    Ratings are NOT placed into the file under CS4 Bridge and neither are
    Labels.
    That depends on your file type and settings voor Camera Raw.
    Like Curt stated usually metadata is written in to the file itself. Only Raw files can't be written to and by default they create a XMP file, also called Sidecar XMP files (and do have the same filename, only a different extension called .xmp). These files are also by default hidden in Bridge but If you use Bridge to move files they travel along with the original.
    If you move or copy them using finder you have to be sure these XMP files are also copied with the originals to the new location.
    Using the menu View / show hidden files should reveal the XMP files.
    An other option for the Camera Raw prefs is to set metadata to the Camera Raw database instead of written to sidecar XMP files ( to my knowledge using sidecar files has been the default since about CS3).
    Now here it becomes a bit tricky and I only can tell you my findings, not to be confused with true facts. (and mind you, it is at least 5 years ago I was on a PPC and not even remember which OSX 10 was able to work on it, I just present the acting of CS6 on an intel Mac Pro with OSX 10.7, but I don't believe the difference in location is that much)
    Having written the Metadata to the Camera Raw Database your image settings get written to a file in the user library preferences folder called logically "Adobe Camera Raw Database". But also some info gets added to the Camera Raw Cache folder (User library / Caches/ Adobe Camera Raw) in a file called index.dat.
    Also not having set metadata to xmp sidecars stores the ACR settings in a new .dat file with a unique number (not to be traced as a corresponding filename. And also the default maximum is set to 1 GB of space and when full the oldest files are overwritten with the new ones.
    Personally I use converted DNG files that are capable of writing metadata to so all info and settings are in the file itself and I don't need to bother about central storage that can get lost. The downside is that changes to a DNG need to save the whole file instead of a small xmp file and probably reading cache takes more time then getting info from central storage but I like to be on the safe side and speed is not really needed to be nailed down to split seconds in my workflow.
    Keywords are stored as a file in the Bridge preferences but Like Curt already stated exporting the old list first and then via the same route import again to CS6 should solve your problem and they will be back as persistent, otherwise the files in the content window show as italic and sadly enough have to be made persistent one by one with right click mouse menu, so that is not really an option for you.
    Exporting the list does create a text file that can also be altered manually with a simple text app and as said, again be imported in newer versions as Curt described earlier.
    Making a copy of Bridge CS4 metadata to another computer is quite simple.
    Simply copy All of the Bridge CS4 application support folder to the other computer.
    Well, in fact it is true to call copying this folders a simple task but replacing the existing new CS6 would not be my method. The biggest change for Bridge CS6 was the transition to 64 bit and I lack the knowledge for this but also cache format for thumbs and previews has been different for every version.
    But if you have located the CS4 folder for Bridge in your PPC user library / application support / Adobe / Bridge CS4 you should find a file called 'Adobe Bridge Keywords.xml' and it is fairly safe to replace this CS4 version with the new CS6 version.
    Also custom settings for the output module can be copied (however to my memory the option for custom settings in Output where introduced in CS5) and collections can be copied.
    So for your keywords the copy option might work, rating and labeling for Raw files they will be read in CS6 if they are stored as XMP. ACR settings idem but CS6 ACR has a new (2012) conversion mode that has different settings that do not work with previous settings (unless you first choose to use the 2010 conversion as default Raw setting.
    If it is in the Central Data Base I would start trying to replace the CS4 with the CS6 edition (after back up of existing CS6 version) and see what happens. If it works your out of trouble.
    You can also open the Camera raw Database as a text file but there is a lot of data in. Maybe scripting would be able to reveal those data and transfer to XMP but you have to visit the dedicated Scripting forum for this.
    And while you state to have not installed CS4 anymore it might be wise to reinstall it (but first make a proper back up of the previous mentioned folders and files to be on the save side.
    This gives you the opportunity to export keywords properly and if needed you can use Show Items from subfolders option with filter and set preferences to XMP sidecar to refresh the rating and labels to those XMP files. Just an escape route that might not be as painstakingly as it looks at first sight, just use the options for Bridge to filter.

  • Sync Bridge Keywords

    I'm trying to sync Bridge keywords between multiple machines. Since the keywords are embeded in the images, I can keep all the images in Dropbox and Bridge will read the keywords no matter what machine I am on. The problem is it only syncs the keywords in the "FILTER" panel and not the "KEYWORDS" panel. Because of this, if I want to tag a new photo with a keyword that was created on another machine, I have to recreate that tag in the "KEYWORDS" panel then check it.
    Where does Bridge store the keywords? They aren't in the preferece plist file. When I delete that, the keywords in the "KEYWORDS" panel remain. If I know where that file is, I can sync it with Dropbox or Google Drive.

    Curious as to why this question was posted in the Adobe Drive forums. Are you also using Adobe Drive in your workflow?
    With regard to Bridge question...might also be helpful to know that you can export a keyword collection by using the "Export" function in the flyout menu of the Keywords panel. You could export all keywords to a txt file and then import it on another machine.

  • CS3 Bridge keyword search failure

    To the best of my knowledge this particular issue has not been covered in the dozens of prior posts about keywords.  I apologize if I've missed it.
    My photos, by the nature of their creation and paperwork generation, are organized by overall dividers, year, month, partial alphabetic breakdown, and customer name, respectively.  I have a need to be able to find photos across all folders throughout the hierarchy that are of the same person.  I've been using keywords of the individuals' names to accomplish this and it has been tremendously effective.
    In 2009, it became necessary to move all images archived in 2008 to another location on the server.  As one might expect, the keywords didn't jive with the index (my reasoning, anyway) and search functionality was ineffective.  Not long thereafter, the functionality came back - most likely by way of a non-indexed keyword search.
    The same issue has occured this year in that all the images shot in 2009 had to be moved.  I have changed the manner in which the structure is built to prevent this from being necessary again in the future, but the keyword search is now not functioning again.  However, this time I am unable to re-establish it.  I have tried multiple non-indexed (with subdirectory) keyword searches both across the entire server and in smaller folder breakdowns.  I have cleared the cache and searched again.  Even if I open a folder with brand new files and verify keyword presence and accuracy, a search inside that specific folder will not return a result.
    The question is: What have I done / missed?
    Even if it had nothing to do with moving the 2009 files, I may have done something to knock something askew that's impeding my search abilities.  I don't use Bridge for very complex tasks, so I might need some extra help, but I'm keenly interested in your ideas and expertise.  Assistance in any form will be appreciated.

    Im geting the same... I tried refreshing cache etc... but no avail...

  • Bridge Keywords Dupliacte Problem.

    What are the Italicized duplicate keywords in Bridge and How do I get rid of them permanently? I’m using Design Premium CS5 with all the updates on windows 7 64bit. In the keyword panel, I have the same keyword in several places in the hierarchy. These duplicates appear in different parts of the whole keyword list. I would like to delete the extra keywords. The duplicates appear in italics. I can make them persistent, but I can't get rid of them. I've tried all sorts of things like finding all the files with the keyword in question, manually deleting the words and then re entering. I can delete the words, but they will reappear.  I have already tried exiting Bridge and restart but they are still there. I have already delete things like User/AppData//Roaming/Adobe and cache files. I have also tried lightroom and reinstalling Design but still no success. So can someone please help if they have any ideas to fix this issue.

    git it
    I got it to work it seems:
    user library/ caches/ Adobe/ Bridge CC :  Cache folder
    and deleted folder.

  • Bridge keywords and organization.

    Hello, everyone.
    I am experiencing some issues with keywords in Bridge and thought I would post a question here in hope someone would be able to help.
    FIRST QUESTION:
    After creating a keyword catalog in Bridge with a certain hierarchical structure I have decided to make some changes and have found it difficult to do it. Let me illustrate. I had originally created two among many categories that I labeled "Cities" and "Airports". Under both I created the keyword "Miami". After I had assigned the keyword "Miami" under the category "Airport" to some photos I decided it would be best to change the name to "MIA Miami International Airport". I created another keyword labeled "MIA Miami International Airport" under the category "Airports" and tried to delete the entry for "Miami". At first it seems to go way but as soon as I move to another photo the delete keyword "Miami" reappears in under the category but this time it appears italicized.
    I also tried to uncheck its box but as I do it another entry of the same name ("Miami") under the category "Cities" is also removed from the list of keywords applied to the image. It seem Bridge can't see the difference between "Miami" in "Cities" from "Miami" in "Airport". How can I resolve this issue ?
    SECOND QUESTION:
    After creating my hierarchical keyword structure I have decided to rearrange things in a way that seems more logical and intuitive. I tried to drag a keyword from one category to another but as I did it appeared under the other category italicized also. In this case the keyword was transferred to the same level of the hierarchical but I also need to change some arrangements so that some keywords will possibly move to lower levels in the hierarchy. How can this be done so that Bridge in a way that won't confuse Bridge or affect the keywords in my images ?
    One thing I wish to add is that the option to apply parent keywords in Bridge's preferences isn't checked. I've opted to apply only the keywords I choose and whenever I feel a parent keyword should also be applied I can do it manually.
    Any ideas of how these issues can be resolved ?
    TIA,
    Joe

    I do not use hieracy so you might have to experiment.  I do know that if you try to delete a keyword, you have to first have find all instances of the keyword  and uncheck the box for each photo.  This can best be done with search. If you don't, when you vist another folder that has files using the keyword it will write it back into the keyword panel.
    You might want to sit down with a pencil and paper and go through what you want to achieve.  It is easier to erase the paper than change the keyword structure.

  • Lightroom won't display Bridge keywords

    Lightroom won't display keywords that were entered in Bridge.  Is there a way to fix that?
    Thanks.
    John

    If you are first importing the pics into a LR catalog and then using Bridge to change the keywords, you'll have to use LR's Metadata > Read Metadata From Files to re-read the pics' metadata back into LR.   If this doesn't address the issue, then you'll need to provide a lot more detail about your workflow -- which commands you're using in each program, in which order, to import catalogs, change keywords, and view them in LR.

  • CS5 Bridge Keywords disappear

    I know this has been talked about on the MAC and PC forums for Bridge and has been an issue with CS3 up to CS5.  However, it does not seem to be getting any attention from Adobe.
    I have gone through the Mac  and Win forums from CS3 to CS5 and there are multiple listings of people  losing their keywords.  I just lost mine again, after rebuilding them  about two weeks ago.  On another call, 3782474, Paul graciously produced a script to build your existing keywords.  You still have to reenter  them!  Adobe, PLEASE fix this issue.  I copied the keyword file and  saved it to a backup location. When I lost my file this last time, I  restored that file.  It stll did not work!  I have not upgraded any  Adobe products, other Window products or any patches.  The only thing I  have been doing for the last couple of weeks is editing photos and going  from one storage drive to another within Bridge to locate photos.  I'm  afraid if I lose the one that I just recreated manually that I will no  longer use Bridge since this is one of the features that attracts me to  it.  I'm sure there are other products that will provide keyword search.
    Adobe, I hope you are reading this thread and take control.  I am running on Windows 7 and Bridge CS5.
    Thanks
    Bob

    Yes I am copying the file /users/bob/appdata/roaming/adobe/bridge cs5/adobebridgekeywords and saving it in a folder on my desktop.  The file is an XML document type.  A sample of a set as it appears in the file is :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"  standalone="yes" ?>
    - <keywords version="2">
    >
    - <set name="Animals" disclosed="true">
    <item name="Antelope" />
    <item name="Babies" />
    <item name="Bighorn Sheep" />
    <item name="Black Bear" />
    <item name="Buffalo" />
    <item name="Burro" />
    <item name="Chipmunk" />
    <item name="Colts" />
    <item name="Elk" />
    <item name="Fawn" />
    <item name="Grizzly" />
    <item name="Horses" />
    <item name="Moose" />
    <item name="Pronghorn Antelope" />
    <item name="Wolf" />
    </set>
    When I replace the bad file with this one, it does not work.  If I try importing this file, it will not recognize it.

  • Tree Component like Bridge Keywords panel

    I'm looking to use a non-standard component in a UI I'm building, and I'm looking for input/ideas.
    If you are familiar with Bridge, there is a panel in the app called "Keywords". I'm looking to create a tree which looks like that.
    I have not found a pre-made component which matches that look.
    I can use a tree with an ItemRenderer to create the checkboxes pretty easily, so that part of it is not a big deal. The only issue which concerns me there, is having the checked state of children bubble up to affect their ancestors. (I'd like to use a tri-state checkbox to indicate partial selections...)
    I'm more concerned by properly styling the nodes as opposed to the leaves. (I'd like the nodes to be distinct when compared to the leaves - like in the Keywords panel. I tried using the alternatingItemColors property, but that's pretty much a dead-end because it doesn't differentiate between leaves and nodes.
    Any ideas other than doing a major rewrite of Tree?

    Curt Y wrote:
    Just to restate the problem:  when looking at the folder  the keywords and star ratings show, but the filter does not indicate they are there?
    In the filter settings you have keywords and star ratings checked?
    The images have a *** rating that shows under the images (I added no keywords) but there is no "Ratings" item in the panel to select (unless I add those other images to the folder). In addition, the other items (such as "Orientation" and ISO Speed Ratings") are not in the panel either. That information is part of the image files so it should always appear.
    I just opened Bridge again and now there are 4 items in the "Filter" panel (before there was only 2).
    Here are the "Filter" panel item selections:
    All those items should appear in the "Filter" panel but for the folder with these files, they do not (unless other files are mixed in with them).

  • LIghtroom and Bridge Keywords don't match

    I use PhotoMechanic (with the stationary pad setup) to ingest NEF images, then convert them DNG with DNG Converter. I add keywords using PhotoMechanic, Bridge and Expression media and Edit using PS to create web versions.
    I'm trying to use LR 1.3 and starting to import them all.
    When I look at the keywords in LR 1.3 the DNG are all the same, however the JPG in LR 1.3 are different from the other three (PhotoMechanic, Bridge, Expression Media). I've read metadata from the files in LR 1.3 and there is no change to the jpg.
    It looks like LR 1.3 does not extract metadata from JPG the same way as Bridge does.
    Any ideas why?

    There are a lot of profiles for Raw-images but much less for JPG images.
    Lr will display only those lens profiles that apply for the file format in question. So when you have a JPG image the profiles for Raw images will not be displayed in Lr, and vice versa.
    If you don't have the correct lens profile in you list you have to download it.
    For this you need the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader.
    And for this program you need Adobe Air.
    Download both programs from Adobe's website - they are free of charge.
    Then install Adobe Air first, and when that is installed, install the Lens Profile Downloader.

  • After effects & Adobe Bridge preview Issue *freezing*

    Hello all,
    I wanted to begin learning After Effects CS4, unfortunately Adobe Bridge CS4 is halting my education.
    If I explore any kind of After effects CS4 preset, and preview it inside of Adobe bridge, my pc freezes. The preview window, within Bridge CS4 turns blank white while it freezes,
    the Windows toolbar of Adobe bridge, says not responding temporarily, if a wait a little while around 30-45 seconds I regain control of my pc again, the preview box occasionally will show a still image and sometimes it will stay white or flicker. If I do wait the 30-45 seconds the toolbar window no longer says 'not responding' I can click to a (non) After effects preset folder, (for example) 'My family pictures' and it will operate normally but if I go back to the After effects CS4 presets again the freezing will occur once more.
    What I find strange is that Adobe Bridge previewing, works absolutely fine for my photoshop documents, Illustrator documents, and any Jpeg photos I have, all after effect presets fail to preview, regardless of type if it's a still shape background or animated sprite, the same freeze issue occurs
    I was wondering if anyone has helpful tips?
    so far I have downloaded all important driver updates for my graphics card, my card is a nVidia GeForce 7900 GS 256, I have also reinstalled bridge and AfterEffects, I have downloaded all the relevent players.
    I am a Windows vista user, also I have enough RAM I believe, just over 3 Giga
    I dont know how useful the info is on my Pc spec is, but I thought it could be worth mentioning.
    I have looked for a few hours to find some kind of thread with a similar problem I have been unsuccessful, I hope someone can help
    Kindest regards Julian

    Hi Curt y,
    I do have the latest Quicktime player installed, I would'nt have have thought that would halt me previewing CS4 after effect still shapes and backgrounds? but.. I'm not to sure if I'm honest.
    well I tried uninstalling and reinstalled my player still no sucess sadly.
    do you know roughly what date all these old threads popped up?
    I'm going to scavenge for them anyway in the the hope I find something useful. *must be positive*
    thank you Curt y, for giving me some of your time.
    regards Julian

  • CS3 Bridge Keywords: Location

    I have many images divided into about 100 subfiles and when I wish to find a particular image, I go to Bridge's Edit menu and click on the Find entry.  Within the Criteria section, I make sure keywords appears in the first box, and contains appears in the middle box.  What I need, but cannot find, is a list of the keywords I have compiled so I can fill in the third box.  I have 30 or 40 keywords in use and can't remember them all.  It seems some such list should be available -- but where?  Any assistance in how to locate a specific image (regardless of the subfile) using Bridge will be very much appreciated, indeed.
    NOTE:  I have reposted this message here from another forum at the request of a member more familiar with the mechanics of these Adobe forums. Thanks to all for your forebearance for the stumbling steps of one new to this site.

    There is a keywords tab that is in the default setting.  This is where you enter keywords, and shows all the keywords in your system.  Is this not working for you, or are you looking for something else?
    If that tab is not showing go to Window and make sure there is a check mark next to keywords.
    You can also bring up the Find window with Crtl + F as a shortcut.
