Sorry to contradict you but it is also Bridge doing so, might be a different situation on Windows but on a Mac Bridge can be set to it
In Bridge prefs go to the General section / behavior and deselect the checkmark in front of "When a camera is connected launch Adobe Photo Downloader.
I have set Photodownloader as an icon in the dock and start it manually, due to the problem the OP describes

Assuming your iTunes is open, as the article you attached suggests, make sure you're running the latest version of iTunes, which is currently version 11.0.1.

This is a small problem, but an annoying one. Before updating to iTunes 10.5 (and my devices to iOS5), iTunes used to start up when I connected any one of my apple devices (iPod Classic/iPod nano/iPad/2 x iPhones) and start syncing automatically. Now I have to start iTunes manually, and although my iPhone/iPod/iWhatever is listed under 'Devices' in the sidebar on the left, I have to click the sync button myself.
I know, I know – small potatoes compared with the problems of others, but a little bit annoying. I used to love it when I connected my device and iTunes did exactly what I wanted without me doing anything.

In that link Nick Holmes said that the iTunesHelper app was to be fount in the contents of the iTunes app, in the folder Contents>Resouces. As it turns out it was in 'Contents>MacOS'
I wonder if there was a change in the location of the iTunesHelper when it switched from iTunes 10.4.x to 10.5, because although iTunesHelper was in my Login items, it wasn't working.
To cut a long story short, I removed iTunesHelper from my loginitems, re-added it using the instruction in your link and rebooted - hey presto, it worked!!!

Okay. Head to the Start menu and choose the *Control Panel* and when it comes up choose *Hardware and Sound* from the list of options. Next choose *Change default settings for media or devices*. Scroll down to the bottom where you will find an entry for Apple iPod. Go ahead and change its action to "Take no Action." Any luck there?
I'm not quite sure why iTunes isn't opening upon connection, but we'll see where we can take this. I would start with removing iTunes and re-installing again using these instructions.

I have the box checked off to launch automatically when I connect my iPhone, but it is not launching automatically. I have to open up iTunes.
From the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Devices tab.
Deselect: Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically

Cannot tell is the initial question was sent so here goes again. I can synch items entered into MS Calendars with my iPad... this is done automatically when I connect the iPad to the USB port. I have found an alternative and much quicker way to transfer photos to my ipad. Having exhausted the Apple route with its connection kit, I stumbled upon a YouTube video showing how you could use an external sd card reader / USB to transfer pictures. I did a quick search on eBay and found a device that would work with the ios7 update. Hey presto it works! (I purchased an sd card and a sd card adapter for my Canon 350d) plus the little sd card reader from eBay ( for quarter of the price ) of Apples connection kit ( which didn't work)
Come on Apple why can suppliers in the Market place produce accessories that work better than your own kit? You are missing an opportunity and frustrating customers no doubt. Could do better ! -

PLEASE HELP ME.This means that the phone you have was software unlocked to use on any carrier, or hacked. When you installed the update it restored the lock that originaly came with your phone. Not much you can do now. Apple will not support hacked phones. You will need to find out the carrier your phone is locked to and see if they offer official unlocking, or start googling to see if you can find a way to unlock 4.2.

My iPod touch screen says it is disabled. Connect to iTunes. When I connect the device to the computer a window pops up and said that the iPod is locked and I need to enter the passcode on the iPod..... I can't get it to do anything. Any ideas?
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
