Bridge not opening after install

Just downloaded Bridge, LR5 and PSCC.  When trying to open Bridge, get error message 'could not complete operation'.  Other downloads seem to open fine.  Using MacBook Pro, new, with Maverick 10.9.1.  What to do?

5***** have you tried removing and reinstalling Bridge CC using the uninstaller located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder?  If so please check your installation log for error messages.  For information on how to locate and interpret your installation log files please see Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.  You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

  • Mini Bridge does not open after installing 8.0.2 upgrade

I installed InDesign CS6 upgrade 8.0.2.  Now I cannot open Mini Bridge.
If Bridge is not already open,
         - selecting File | Browse in Bridge...  or clicking on the Bridge button: Bridge opens - good!
         - control-click on the Bridge button: I get a Reset Settings error dialog - NOT good!  I cancelled this and Bridge opened fullscreen okay.
         - alt-click on the Bridge button: Two Bridge applications opened fullscreen! - NOT good!
         - shift-click on the Bridge button: Bridge opens, but Mini Bridge does not! - NOT good!
    If Bridge is already open,
         - selecting File | Browse in Bridge... or clicking on the Bridge button: the ruler bars dim and nothing else happens! - NOT good!
         - control-click on the Bridge button: Bridge opens maximized! - good!
         - alt-click on the Bridge button: the already opened Bridge, plus a new Bridge, both open! - is this normal?
         - shift-click on the Bridge button: the ruler bars dim and Mini Bridge does not open! - NOT good!
My main concern is that I cannot get Mini Bridge to open at all.  I can ignore the other problems mentioned above, if I can just get Mini Bridge to open.
I have restored my C: drive from backup twice and tried the upgrade a total of three times.  The results are the same each time.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing my problem and how I might correct it?  I am running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional SP1, 3.40 GHz Intel Core i7-3770 CPU, 32.0 GB installed memory.
    Thanks greatly,
    Mark.

    Hi Peter,
Just to bring you up to speed on what has happened to this issue, none of the suggestions that I received in the Bridge forum helped.  However, after restoring my C: drive back to prior to my updating attempts, I was able to successfully upgrade InDesign in Safe Mode (this is a Windows startup mode that blocks non-Microsoft applications from starting up on reboot).  Mini Bridge is now working correctly.
Thank you again for your assistance.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro does not open after installing CS6

I successfully installed CS6 & Web Premium package. I found I could not open .pdf files so I reloaded Adobe Reader X and now realize I cannot open Adobe Acrobat X Pro to create .pdf files. Reinstalled Acrobat again this evening, restarted computer but same issue (Acrobe Acrobat X Pro - it does nothing when I try and open it). What am I missing? any insight is soooo appreciated!

After installation of the CS6 suite, everything worked great.  I am not sure the time frame it took to notice the problem in Acrobat X Pro the first time as the user does not use it everyday, but the program would not open.  PDF files would only open if you chose to open them in Acrobat Reader and would not open in Acrobat X Pro.  There were no error messages nor were there any error logs in the event viewer.  The program just would not open.  If that user logged out of Windows and I logged in, the program would open but only for a brief period and then would close without warning and never open again.
I checked the dates and from the time that I last fixed the error addressed in this thread until it happened again was exactly 30 days which would make me think that the trial would end but it is actually not a trial.  It is a licensed suite.

  • InDesign CS3 will not open after installing updates

    Hello,
I am having a problem printing borderless with InDesign CS3. When my paper size is set on borderless my photos print very light. If Iremove the borderless setting the photos print fine.
In a effort to correct this problem I downloaded  and installed updates for InDesign CS3 now InDesign will not open.

5.0.3 should not have installed after 5.0.4 (that's a problem with the installer), and it may have added problems. First things to try, though, before we get down to uninstalling and reinstalling again, are trashing the prefs (Replace Your Preferences), trying a new user account, and starting with extensions disabled (hold down the Shift key when you boot).
If it comes to reinstalling again, you should probably also run the cleaner tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) before reinstalling, and make sure you have the correct update which you can download again from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4029

  • Apps do not open after installing mavericks

After installing mavericks i tried to reinstall a few apps i bought five months ago. I can load them over the appstore, but when i open them, they instantly close again and it says:
"name of the app" is damaged and can not be opened. Delete "name of the app" and download it again from the App Store.
it did this a many times, but it´s always the same. and there are only a few apps that i can´t open, others are working well. A few weeks ago those apps were also working fine.
    If somebody knows help...

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • ITunes 8 will not open after installing update on iBook G4

I installed an iTunes update that included v.8 and an updated version of Quicktime. Now I can open Quicktime on its own, but cannot open iTunes at all! The icon on my toolbar bounces but does not open. After about a minute, I get a msg. that says "the application iTunes unexpectedly quit." But it never opens in the first place! Please help. I would like to uninstall and go back to the old version of iTunes. Do I have to delete my song library to do so? I am not that savvy a computer user, so please respond accordingly... thanks!

Same problem on my intel MacBookPro. Happened to me after doing the ilife08 upgrade a few minutes ago. Downloaded from apple again and did the upgrade option. That seems to have done the trick.

  • Apps not opening after installing iOS4

    Hi,
I installed the new software update on my iPhone 3G. Now all the downloaded apps won't open.

I don't understand what's going on with the apps on my iPod touch when I try to open them they close afet a few seconds never actually getting to the app. This happened only after installing the new software. This happened with all my aps even after I uninstalled and reinstalled them they still would not work. If someone could please figure out what's wrong that would be great as of now I have never been more frustrated with apple and iPods. This iPod is a few months old and I only got it because my other nano I had mysteriously stopped working!!!! Not to mention my iTunes won't work and has had an error code pop up evrytime I try something!

  • DVD Studio Pro 4 will not open after installing Leopard

I had trouble opening my film project in FCP studio 2 but resolved the problem by trashing the preferences. This did not help other programs like DVD studio pro which will not open at all or crashes as soon as it is open. It also gives me strange messages while it tries to open like" Media-application quit unexpectedly." Would re-installing help? I would have to begin with FCP studio pro and then update all the programs again. Is there an easier way to solve this problem? (Leopard is causing other programs to quit unexpectedly but I don't get messages that some part of the application has quit).

So far it seems the advice when going to Leopard is to due a total clean install of Leopard on a clean drive before installing the applications.

  • Itunes will not open after installing yosemite

I installed Yosemite and have tried to repeatedly. Get my new Itunes 12 to open but it refuses. It will not make any indication that it is attempting to open. I have tried to reinstall it a number of times and it still will not open.
    any help is appreciated.
    david

    Hi,
I've encountered the exact same problem.
iTunes wouldn't start up at all, even tough it had the correct version.
By browsing to the applications contents and running the itunes exec it would work.
Also running it through Terminal would work. But simply not by clicking the iTunes.app
However i've fixed it! by manually setting read and write so that you can delete the iTunes.app. (for a tut see http://www.tekrevue.com/tip/uninstall-itunes/)
Then manually Install iTunes again by downloading it at http://www.apple.com/nl/itunes/download/
Then it worked fine with me! Hope it helps.

  • Hp scanner software does not open after installing 10.4.8

Your help, please...since installing OS 10.4.8 my HP scanner software (5370c) does not open. It appears to begin opening and the icon appears briefly on the Dock, but does not stay there.
Also, the keyboard does not light up in low-light conditions as it did previously. Yes, I have the box checked in the keyboard section of system preferences. (It is a brand new keyboard, recently replaced, but the lighting worked under OS 10.3.9.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for your help,
    Dean

yes, it seems to almost complete the installation and then tells me that I do not have the right permissions.

  • Captivate 6 not opening after install

I have installed Adobe Captivate 6 for a user and it will not open. The green splash screen comes up and nothing else happens. The application's executable shows to be using 25% of the CPU but the program never finishes opening. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the program and it still performs the same, never fully opening past the green splash screen. System resources should not be an issue as this PC has an Intel i5 processor (Quad 2.5Ghz) and 4GB of RAM. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,
Thanks for reaching Adobe Community. Please accept my apologies for the hassle.
Please make sure that the user who is using captivate has admin rights on the computer. Alos try the below steps and see if that makes any difference:
    Locate the preferences folder:
Windows Vista and Windows 7: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 folder
    Windows XP:  C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 folder
Rename the Captivate 6 folder to anything.
    Relaunch Captivate.
If the above steps don't work then go to C:/Windows, copy the Fonts folder and paste it on your desktop. Then delete all the fonts in the C:/Windows/Fonts folder.
    Try launching captivate again.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks!

  • Imovie will not open after installing leopard

Leopard was installed and then ilife 08. Imovie would not open- what do I need to do?

welcome cw50 to the  boards..
reading the iM08 and the Leopard boards here at apple-discussions, and other ext. boards, you'll notice many topics like yours..
there's actual no 'official' or unofficial workaround to fix that ..
    just to add to database:
did you made a clean-install of 10.5. on your System?
or, as most of us would do, just 'upgrade' your OS, without reinstalling all software...?
and, please, don't hesitate to give Apple directly feedback:

  • Keynote not opening after installing Yosemite

I recently installed Yosemite. Keynote was downloaded from app store but was listed as "pending" in my app store purchases. I suspected that it was not installed properly and using App Cleaner, I deleted the copy of Keynote and tried to reinstall from the app store (Debug mode, reset application). This workflow did not work as Keynote is listed as opened despite its removal. Reinstalling Keynote is not possible as the app is showing as installed, but does not open
    Please advise.

Ensure there are no copies of Keynote stored on any of your connected drives:
    empty the trash
eject or disconnect all secondary drives connected to the Mac: this includes backup drives, Time Machine, scratch drives, etc etc
search in Spotlight for Keynote and delete any Keynote files listed
    try the Mac Store again
If this does not solve the issue contact Apple Support they may need to reset your MAS account.

  • Photo booth is not opening after installing maverick

I updated my computer to Maverick and now photo booth is not opening. I could care less about the application itself but there are pictures that I really do not want to lose. It says that "You can't use this version of the application "Photo Booth" with this version of OS X. You have "Photo Booth" 3.0.3." I can't find any information on updating the application and I can't find any way to recover the pictures from the application. Please help.

You're trying to open an outdated copy of the application. Delete the copy and use the one in the Applications folder. Never move or copy built-in applications.
